Shania Twain Chats ‘Real Country’ on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan

Five-time Grammy winner and top-selling female country artist of all time Shania Twain joined Live with Kelly & Ryan this morning to talk about her tour, stage fright, and being a judge on “Real Country.”

Ryan Seacrest a showed a picture of Twain performing high in the air soaring over her fans with her guitar, and asked: “Do you ever get nervous or stage fright before you go out and do a show?” Twain is currently on a world tour and admits that she gets nervous before each show and does, in fact, have stage fright. The best way she manages it is by spending the day preparing for it and is methodical throughout her day, even down to what she eats and drinks. However, when she hears fans cheering from backstage the anxiety morphs into adrenaline and excitement and she channels it into her performance.

Kelly Ripa asked Twain, Do you ever forget the words to your songs? Ironically enough, Twain does admit to forgetting words to her songs and says it happens often. Laughing along with the audience Twain said, “When I am watching other people sing along with me if I make eye contact with somebody and they mess up where they are in the song- that’s it I am off. “

Secreast asked Twain about her new role as a judge on ‘Real Country’, “When you are searching for a superstar how are you trying to find them?” she stated she is simply finding talent through good old fashion scouting, even from watching people perform in her hotel lobby. She tells Kelly & Ryan, “I think a lot of people are intimidated by entering into the country music genre because there is a stereotype that I think a lot of people believe country music is.” She believes everyone belongs in country music no matter where you are from.

Twain wants everyone to feel welcomed into the genre, and it doesn’t matter if you drive a pickup truck or not, it is much deeper than that. In fact, she believes what matters most is being able to write music on appreciating the simplicity of everyday living and putting it into a song, and there is a special art to that.

“Real Country” with host Shania Twain airs Tuesday nights on USA Network.

[Watch] Mason Ramsey’s Adorable Video for “White Christmas”

While Mason Ramsey may be best known as the kid who yodeled in Walmart, the twelve-year-old country star is putting a new spin on a Christmas classic. While you’ve heard Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” before, it’s safe to say you haven’t heard it like this.

In the video directed by Shaun Silva, Ramsey performs his new take on the Bing Crosby classic, while a group of his peers dance along. He’s dressed in red festive fringe and appearing in an auditorium with halls that have been thoroughly decked. Believe us when we say that it’s all kinds of adorable.

As for why Ramsey chose to re-record the classic? “’White Christmas’ is the best holiday song and I’ve grown up listening to Michael Bublé’s version with Shania Twain,” Ramsey said in a press release. “It’s also a song in Home Alone too — my favorite movie to watch at Christmas!”

Ramsey also took the stage at The Ellen Show to perform his new version of the Christmas classic, where he also revealed that he has a crush on Stranger Things star, Millie Bobbie Brown.

Watch the performance below:

Ramsey will perform his new holiday single on NBC’s TODAY on December 13th and is currently appearing alongside Florida Georgia Line during their Las Vegas Residency at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

Next week, also on the 13th, Ramsey will hit the stage at New York City’s Irving Plaza, opening for Chris Lane as part of his Laps Around the Sun Tour.  Grab your tickets here and we’ll see you at the show!

This Shirt Saves Lives: St. Jude Teams Up with Country Music Stars

This Shirt Saves Lives

If you’ve been on social media recently, you’ve most likely seen your favorite country stars, and other celebrities, wearing T-shirts emblazoned with the message “This Shirt Saves Lives.” The viral awareness campaign is in support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, and helped inspire more than 90,000 monthly donors to support St. Jude’s mission.

Since launching last year, the campaign has reached tens of millions of people, across social media, thanks to the likes of Luke Bryan, Reba, Kelsea Ballerini, Thomas Rhett, and so many more. According to the website for #thisshirtsaveslives, “Today, the treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to 80% since the hospital first opened more than 50 years ago. And we won’t stop until no child dies of cancer.”

In addition to the ‘This Shirt Saves Lives” social media push, the campaign will be supported by St. Jude radio partners to cover more than 150 markets in December. Curious where the donations go or how they help? One month of giving will provide a St. Jude family with meals for one day in the Kay Kafe, the St. Jude Cafeteria. Six months of giving will help cover costs associated with physical therapy and other forms of treatment for a St. Jude Patient. One year of giving will pay for one red blood cell transfusion.

Rachel Wammack Releases Beautiful Christmas Covers

There’s nothing like country taking over Christmas music. RCA Records Nashville’s new artist Rachel Wammack recently dropped her classic-Christmas covers of “This Christmas” and “O Holy Night” as part of a Live from Thirteen Performance. These festive releases are following her debut chart-climbing single “Damage.” The holiday renditions are just a taste of what her vocal range is capable of.

“There have been so many wonderful highs from playing the Opry and the Ryman for the first time and putting out my EP as well as my debut single ‘Damage.’ It seemed fitting to end the year with two of my favorite Christmas songs as a ’thank you’ to all of the fans who have supported me. All in all, this year has been such a blessing and I can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store,” Wammack says in a press release.

Wammack recently performed her holiday spins at WSMV’s Today in Nashville. She played “O Holy Night” on the piano and her rendition was incredibly soulful. Performing these holiday classics, these covers show her ability to conquer any song confidently.

Wammack’s continuing to showcase her talent on the road with Brett Young on his CMT ON TOUR: HERE TONIGHT which hits NYC this weekend, Sunday, December 9th. Grab your tickets here. Fans will be able to have an inside look at the run this weekend during CMT Hot 20 Countdown. Make sure to spin “This Christmas” and “O Holy Night” out everywhere at all digital retailers.

NYCS First Impression: Brett Young ‘Ticket To L.A.’

Brett Young - Ticket to L.A.

Since the release of his self-titled debut album, Brett Young has been one of country music’s fastest rising stars. Today released the highly anticipated follow-up, Ticket to L.A., produced by Dann Huff and Jimmy Harnen, only furthering his future superstardom. With a soulful voice and a penchant towards heart-wrenching ballads, Young has that undefinable X-factor. His music stands out in the sea of sameness that sometimes plagues other young male country singers, combining powerful lyrics, different tempos, and the delivery of a true storyteller.

“I decided to name the album Ticket to L.A. because flying home to Los Angeles has become such a big part of my life,” Young revealed in a statement to RollingStone.com. “A lot of the first record reflected a kind of hard point in my life when I was moving from Los Angeles to Nashville, but I’m in a completely different place now. I’m so happy, and I think you can really hear that shift on the new record.”

Young co-wrote 10 of the album’s 13 tracks, including the opening title track and the album’s first single, “Here Tonight”. Of the single, Young revealed to entertainment-focus.com “‘Here Tonight’ is about those moments, if you’re lucky enough to have them in your life, that are so good that you wish they could last forever. It’s very light—intentionally—and sonically it’s upbeat. That doesn’t exist as much on the first album, so I wanted to showcase a bit more versatility this time around. I think it’s the perfect way to cap off the summer.”

While Young can do uptempo with the best of them, he truly shines on the mid-tempos and ballads. “Catch” is a highlight of the album, both lyrically and musically as seen in the video above from an early sneak peek of the track during a special Nash FM 94.7 Up Close & Country event. Co-written by Young, Ashley Gorley, and Ross Copperman, “Catch” is about a person who unexpectedly changes your life. The writers here use the word “catch” creatively, formulating a masterful chorus, “I thought that I’d catch a buzz, catch a game / Catch up with the boys the same old thing / Catch a cab back to my place / But then I saw your face / Now you got me trying to / Catch you a ride, catch your name / Catch a spark and start a flame.”

One of the album’s highlights is “Chapters,” which features Young’s idol and mentor, Gavin DeGraw. The track, co-written by Young, Copperman, and DeGraw, is a reflection on the various chapters of one’s life, including Young’s idolization of his father and his baseball career-ending injury. “Every page you’ve turned/ is a lesson learned / and we all, and we all/ just trying to get it right/ These are the chapters of my life, DeGraw adds the last verse of the song, and his background vocals on the final chorus of the song compliment Young’s perfectly, and this is truly a magical musical moment.

Other highlights of the album, include “Change Your Name” (Ross Copperman, Matt Jenkins, Jon Nite), which should become a huge wedding song. Alternatively, there’s the heart-breaking “The Ship And The Bottle,” (Nicolle Galyon, Chase McGill, Jon Nite) about letting someone go, as to not hold them back. The ship and the bottle metaphor is used exceptionally throughout this track, perfectly conveying the song’s sad sentiment. “You just might have to break me/ to do what you’re meant to do/ You’re the ship, I’m the bottle/ And I can’t do that to you.” Additionally, the subtle use of a phrase from The Police’s “Message in a Bottle” is a unique and clever way to conclude the track.

The album closes with “Don’t Wanna Write This Song,” a melancholy ballad co-written by Young, Zach Crowell and “Mercy” co-writer, Sean McConnell. “Maybe the hardest part/ Is we didn’t break this heart/ Nobody cheated or lied/ I still have to live with goodbye/ But how can I just move on?/ I’ve loved you for way too long/ I don’t want to admit that you’re gone/ I don’t want to write this song.” While this may immediately seem like a breakup song, the lyrics go so much deeper, and the album’s last verse are sure to raise goosebumps as Young deals with the ultimate loss.

With an undeniable talent for turning a phrase and an unmatched voice, Young is poised for hit after hit with this new album. There’s no sign of a sophomore slump here, and on Ticket to L.A, Brett Young offers an utterly delightful and delicious piece of perfectly-crafted pop country.

Ticket to L.A. is now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released music here on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.

Ashley McBryde Entertains The Crowd at Gramercy Theatre

Ashley McBryde

Ashley McBryde is the real deal. She proved it last night at The Gramercy Theatre in NYC to a packed house full of fans ready to spend their Wednesday singing along to hits like “A Little Dive Bar In Dahlonega” and “American Scandal.”

Girl Goin’ Nowhere is Mcbryde’s first headlining tour but you would never know it because she is truly talented both in her storytelling and her vocals. The singer-songwriter opened the show with up with “Livin’ Next to Leroy” followed by upbeat” El Dorado,” before slowing things down and telling us a personal story about a memorable belonging of her father’s with “The Jacket.” McBryde has a classic country flare and a laid back wittiness that kept the crowd entertained all the way through.

Ashley McBryde

Gracious as can be with a sense of humor to boot, she fed off of the audience’s energy and genuinely was having an amazing time with the crowd. “I know you can be anywhere tonight but you choose to be here at my show,” she said, showing her appreciation for the fans.

The crowd sang every lyric to hit songs “Tired of Being Happy,” and “A Little Dive Bar In Dahlonega” which McBryde shared was actually inspired by a real bar and life events. She even had some fun covering Johnny Cash’s “I’ve Been Everywhere, Man” changing up some of the lyrics and adding her own hilarious touch. Closing out the night, there was an awesome singalong to “American Scandal” and McBryde and her band thanked the New York City country fans one last time.

McBryde is a girl going somewhere, that’s for sure and she has already made a lasting impact on country music. She continues her tour tonight at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ and into early 2019. Check out the rest of the tour dates here: http://www.ashleymcbryde.com/tour.

Morgan Evans Releases ‘Highway 1 Sessions: Young Again’

Morgan Evans Highway Sessions

Photo Courtesy of Warner Music Nashville

Warner Music Nashville recording artist, Morgan Evans has been going full steam ahead, since the October release of his debut album, Things That We Drink To. While his song “Day Drunk” continues to climb the country charts, the singer-songwriter has created a new project entitled ‘Highway 1 Sessions.’

Yesterday, Evans dropped the first acoustic video in his new YouTube series for his song “Young Again.” The first installment features the singer, an acoustic guitar, at the retro-looking Majestic Ventura Theater in Ventura, California. Feeling inspired by his October trip along the Pacific Coast Highway, Evans recorded the video in just one-take, keeping the vibe cool, simple, and authentic to his Australian roots. The recording artist gives listeners a new way to experience the fun-loving track, keeping the lyrics the focus in his stripped-down performance. Check out the single-shot video below.

Evans shared a sentiment on his Instagram that truly embodies the passion project and what’s to come in the series. “We had a few days off between shows on the west coast in October, and I wanted to go on a bit of an adventure. It’s such a beautiful and inspiring part of the world. We met some incredible people, played some music, sat round camp fires, caught some waves & filmed a bunch stuff, while we were at it. I told some stories and shared the truth behind the songs on the album “Things That We Drink To.” We have called this series of videos and stories “The Highway 1 Sessions.” This is the first installment. It’s not overproduced, it’s not glossy or perfect, but it’s real and it’s me, and I hope you dig it.”

New Yorkers can catch Evans opening up for Chris Young on his ‘Losing Sleep World Tour’ with Dan + Shay, tomorrow night at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island. Click here for tickets. In the new year, the singer-songwriter will join Old Dominion on their ‘Make It Sweet Tour,’ beginning in Illinois on January 18th. For more information, head to morganevansmusic.com.
