Jordan Davis Releases Heartfelt Video for “Slow Dance in a Parking Lot”

Slow Dance In a Parking Lot

Our NYCS 2018 Artist to Watch, Jordan Davis is having quite the year! He continues to make waves with his debut album Homestate, including making his television debut and scoring two back to back number one songs with “Singles You Up” and “Take It From Me.” Now the singer-songwriter is impressing with his third single, “Slow Dance In A Parking Lot,” which he just released a heartfelt music video for earlier this week.

The retro-inspired video begins with familiar images that Davis has been teasing on his Instagram gearing up to its release. It has a throwback vibe that’s reminiscent of classic 90s movies, which only adds to the ambiance of the enticing track. “Slow Dance In A Parking Lot” is a catchy love song about appreciating the simple things in life with the one you love, which is truly personified in the visual. The lyrical story is told beautifully through the eyes of a young boy as he experiences different pivotal moments throughout his life. The video is truly both emotive and heartwarming.

Check out the full-length video below.

Although the music video was a nice surprise, Davis has more surprises in store for fans. Joining the list of country music artists growing the country music family this year, Davis simultaneously announced to fans that he and his wife, are expecting their first child together. Who knew that the song could get even sweeter!

We last caught up with Davis on tour with Old Dominion and Mitchell Tenpenny at The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden back in May. The whole night, and especially his performance was truly one for the books. We’re eager to see Davis again soon, but for those willing to travel, he will play in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 23rd as the opening act on Rascal Flatts: Summer Playlist Tour 2019. For tickets and more information, head to jordandavisofficial.com.

To keep up with Davis, follow him on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Leah Turner Releases Spunky Video for “Blah Blah Blah”

Powerhouse vocalist Leah Turner showcases her spunk and glamour in her latest video “Blah Blah Blah.” Turner emits her distaste in a man who promises commitment but fails to follow through. Turner makes it crystal clear that all talk and no action is no longer something she’ll settle for.

“All I’m hearing is your blah blah blah / You run your mouth, I’m saying nah nah nah / You say there’s nothing you won’t do for me / But I can’t listen, I’m like la la la / I’m standing up, and you’re like nah nah nah / Your words mean nothing they’re just words to me / All I’m hearing is your blah blah blah”

The 2019 CMT Next Women of Country class member’s blasé, dissatisfied attitude exhibits itself through the California native’s body language throughout the duration of the video. She poses confidently, yet elegantly, on a chair showing off her “forget about you” night on the town look. Turner sings of empty words and demolished promises overtop dynamic, gritty guitar licks.

Co-written with Nashville based songwriters Jessica Cayne and Willie Breeding, Turner was not shy in expressing her sass. “I had the title for a little while, and came into that session feeling a little sassy – a little tongue and cheek!” Turner admitted to Vents Magazine. This track is a powerhouse anthem for ladies who are all too familiar with empty words. “After a couple glasses all I can hear is Blah Blah Blah,” Leah confesses.  “Blah Blah Blah” is Turner’s first single from her upcoming project and the first single since the release of her self-titled EP in 2017.

“Blah Blah Blah” is now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released music here on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.

7 Reasons Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins Are Ultimate #RelationshipGoals

Of all the country couples, it’s hard to find two people more perfect for each other than Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins. He may be the famous one of the pair but she has garnered a loyal following of her own through an active and engaging social media presence, and the overwhelming cuteness of their little family. Here are just some of the reasons we’re obsessed with these two.

  1. They met in first grade. I mean seriously, could there be a cuter story?! Before the fame and fortune, they were just two kids, who fell in love and got married at the young age of 22. If that doesn’t show us that true love can stand the test of time, we have no idea what does.

  1. She is definitely his muse. We all dream of being in love, and it’s clear that Thomas Rhett pulls many of his most successful hits from genuine feelings about his wife. From “Die a Happy Man” which exploded his career, to songs on his newest album, “Center Point Road”, like “Notice” and “Look What God Gave Her”, there’s no doubt that his marriage is his greatest inspiration.

  1. Family is everything. One look at Instagram and it’s clear that family is the center of their world. Whether it’s snapshots of their beautiful daughters Willa Gray and Ada James, or gatherings with family and close friends, this pair has no shortage of love in their inner circle.

  1. They aren’t afraid to let fans into their lives. It’s easy to make everything look glamorous and exciting on social media, but Lauren’s posts also show what life looks like day to day. From adorable videos on date night to random happenings around a house full of kids and dogs, we really feel like we know them as people, not just celebrities.

  1. She wholeheartedly supports his career. While they always hoped Thomas Rhett’s career would take off, Lauren didn’t necessarily sign up for the bright lights and crazy life that comes with fame. But now that he’s become a star, she’s all in and it makes our hearts swoon. From agreeing to appear in the “Die a Happy Man” music video to inspiring his new song, “The Dream You Never Had”, it’s beautiful to see how supportive she is and how much that means to him.

  1. They do good in the world. Thomas and Lauren practice what they preach, donating their time and money to organizations around the globe that help others. 147 Million Orphans, Love One International, St. Jude, and Feeding America are just some of the charities the pair publically support.

  1. They always stand up for each other. It’s hard being in the public eye, and the spotlight comes with criticism. But these two are in it for the long haul and never shy away from defending their partner. Every woman deserves a man who will put internet trolls in their place!

NYCS Swag Spotlight: Taylor Acorn

If you are looking for a perfect brand new summer anthem to blast at your BBQs and tailgates look no further than this week’s Swag Spotlight, Taylor Acorn and her new jam “Red White”. In our recent phone conversation, Acorn explained that growing up she remembers all different genres being played around the house but especially country, rock and roll, and pop. Her very first introduction into country music was Garth Brooks and her first concert was Lonestar. “I don’t think I ever really thought, initially music was what I wanted to do but I would always go around the house singing my little heart out,” Acorn laughs. “I could always connect with music whether or not I was feeling happy or sad. I remember sitting in my room with a boom box and I would just play all different kinds of music and sing along.”

After her father passed away and her family moved to Pennslyvania, she tells us how she felt close to him when writing. “He was always into writing and he would always make up funny jingles to make us laugh and I remember pulling out some of his old stories that he had written, he was into short stories and I think that’s where we are so similar, I love writing, whether it’s writing in a journal or writing stories, it’s where my love for writing songs came about.” She tells us that after his death, she had a box that she would write stories or messages to her dad on little slips of paper and put them in the special box, her mom said that her dad could read them that way. It was like she was writing down her thoughts and feelings into songs before she even realized she was a songwriter.

After realizing she wasn’t meant to be in college, (she would rather sit in her room and play music, learn guitar and make YouTube videos then go to class), she made the move to Music City and started songwriting and her artist journey. Her debut EP Put It In A Song has garnered over 19 million streams across platforms and she’s found success writing her personal stories and turning them into music. “In reality, those songs are just my diary, it was just situations I had gone through in that point in time, stories, put it in a song is about falling in love for the first time, they all pertain to a certain point in my life and so I never thought of it as oh trying got to write songs that would relate to someone or someone will listen, but here is my story and I put a melody to it.”

Her next single, “Red White” was released last Friday (July 12th) and is a song she wrote with Reid Isbell and was one of the first times she had a cowrite in Nashville. “He’s one of the coolest people I’ve met here, and he came into my life at a point I was pretty sad and he came into the writers room and just wanted to write an uptempo song, something fun, I knew I wanted to write a fun song too and he had a great idea so we just went with it.” When a lot of her music is revolved around love or heartbreak, Acorn explains she was so happy to step out of her element and create a song perfect for the warmer months.

For the rest of 2019, Acorn is writing as much as she can and continuing to promote the single for the remainder of the summer, gearing up to release new music soon!

To keep up with Taylor Acorn follow her on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Luke Bryan’s ‘Sunset Repeat’ Tour Hits Long Island, NY For Two Shows

Luke Bryan Jones Beach

Luke Bryan’s Sunset Repeat Tour stopped in Long Island this past weekend to play two shows at Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater. Night one he brought along two Georgia natives, Jon Langston, and Cole Swindell and last night Dylan Scott took the direct support spot.  Not only did NYCountry Swag offer an exclusive ticket presale to our followers, but we also organized a huge tailgate and bus to the venue for the Sunday Night show. Bringing over 100 New York country fans together to enjoy music, food, and drinking games before heading inside to experience the Sunset Repeat Tour from the best seats in the house, right in the pit.

Jon Langston opened his half-hour set with his newest release “Now You Know”; a country song with a rock and roll feel. He performed nine songs for the audience including “Right Girl, Wrong Time”, “Dance Tonight”, “Prob’ly at a Bar”, “Forever Girl”, even a cover of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ hit “Won’t Back Down”. He closed with another country-rock song “All Eyes On Us”. Before exiting the stage, the former college football player shot-gunned a beer in about three seconds, signed t-shirts and took selfies with fans. Langston opened up Sunday’s show as well.

Next up was the 2015 ACM New Artist of the Year, Cole Swindell. He began the show with two songs from his latest album All Of It, “Love You Too Late” and “Sounded Good Last Night” then went back to his self-titled first album with songs “Lonely Tonight” and “Hey Y’all”.  Right as the fans were getting energized, Swindell changed the mood of the show with slower songs such as “Middle of a Memory” and “Break Up in the End”. The fans didn’t seem to mind it as they were singing along the whole way through.

If you recall, a few months ago a third-grade teacher, Courtney wrote on social media about a hilarious moment she shared with her students about Cole Swindell and NYCountry Swag arranged for her to finally meet her favorite country artist and tickets to the show on Saturday. Read more about that here.

“Nothing helps me get over a break up better than a party, drinking song”, Swindell admitted before performing a combination of three of his drinking songs, “Brought to You by Beer” from the first album, “No Can Left Behind” from his second album You Should Be Here and “Reason to Drink” from All Of It. These songs provided a good segway into his next and newest song “Drinkin’ Hours”, which he just released on June 21st.

“Make sure y’all appreciate who you still have here tonight,” Swindell said after performing his second number-one single “You Should Be Here”. The track was written in honor of his father, who unexpectedly passed away back in 2013.  The crowd grew even louder when Swindell rattled off three of his biggest hits, “Ain’t Worth the Whiskey”, “Let Me See Ya Girl” and his first number one single “Chillin’ It”.

This was not the first time Swindell played Jones Beach Theater. He opened for Florida Georgia Line on their Dig Your Roots Tour in 2016 and Dierks Bentley on his What The Hell Tour. “You guys have had my back since the first time I played this venue so thank y’all”, Swindell praised the boisterous crowd.

Swindell covered shortened versions of “Old Town Road” and “This Is How We Roll”, a song he co-wrote with Florida Georgia Line. He then exited the stage for a few minutes before the fans heard sounds of a heart monitor getting faster and faster; we knew what song was coming next. Swindell closed his set with “Flatliner”, leaving the crowd with the right energy as they await the headliner, Luke Bryan.

Sunset Repeat Tour

Swindell and Bryan have a long history together. They met when Bryan performed a show at Swindell’s Sigma Chi fraternity house at Georgia Southern University, the same school and same frat Bryan was in back in his college days. They stayed in touch and when Swindell graduated college, he went on tour with Bryan, not performing but selling merchandise and writing songs for him. Swindell wrote or co-wrote songs such as “The Sand I Brought to the Beach”, “Beer in the Headlights”, “Roller Coaster” and many more. He opened for Bryan back in 2014 on his That’s My Kind of Night Tour. Swindell, however, did not perform Sunday night as he was in Chicago playing the Windy City Smokeout with Chris Young, LANCO,  Eli Young Band, Ashley McBryde, Jordan Davis, Devin Dawson, and Old Dominion.

It was finally time for Luke Bryan, who came out driving an ATV and performed “What Makes You Country” and “Huntin’, Fishin’, Lovin’ Everyday” standing on top of it. He kept the party going with two singles from Kill The Lights “Kick the Dust Up” and “Move”. Bryan then grabbed an electric guitar and shredded “I See You” from his 2013 album Crash My Party.

“These next two songs are for you, Jones Beach”, Bryan shouted before performing two beach songs in “Roller Coaster” and “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset, Repeat”.  Bryan then took a break to give shout-outs to DJ Rock, Jon Langston and Cole Swindell for keeping everyone entertained. “We got two nights in a row here so that means we can party tonight, get about three hours of sleep, wake up and then do this s**t all over again.” Bryan also mentioned that it is his birthday week so he took another shot of tequila. “Here’s to the coolest, one of the most unique venues in all of North America, right here!” he yelled before doing the shot. “Thank you so much for making two nights happen!”

Before playing “Most People Are Good” he joked about how much he loves drunk mothers but then got serious and said, “mothers are the true saints in this world and if they all qualify for sainthood then they aren’t good people they’re the best people”.

Sandwiched between his first single “Do I” and his newest single “Knockin’ Boots” was “Rain is a Good Thing”. This was a good representation of how Bryan’s career progressed. After “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye” and “Crash My Party” the crew wheeled out the piano which caused an uproar of the fans; “Drink a Beer”, a fan favorite, and “Strip it Down” were next. Fans took out their phones and held up their flashlight as Bryan performed a beautiful rendition of his sad ballad on the piano. Giving the fans a quick insight into next Saturday’s Jones Beach concert, Morgan Wallen surprised the audience on Sunday night when he came out to perform his most recent number one hit, “Whiskey Glasses”. Wallen will perform alongside Dan + Shay, HARDY and headliners Florida Georgia Line on their ‘Can’t Say I Ain’t Country Tour’ hitting the beach July 20th.  Bryan also invited the openers back to the stage later on in the night to sing a group version of David Lee Murphy’s “Dust On The Bottle”.

The superstar performed “Drunk On You”, “I Don’t Want This Night To End”, “Play It Again” and “That’s My Kind of Night” before walking off the stage. However, fans knew an encore was coming as the 2016 Billboard Top Country Artist was yet to play his smash hit “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)”. When he came back out, he gave the fans what they wanted; singing and moving his hips to the catchy, country track. To the surprise of the fans, Bryan came back and performed a song that was not his. He ended his set with a cover of Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer”. An unexpected but brilliant ending to an incredible night at Jones Beach.

Bryan will take Swindell, Langston and the Sunset Repeat Tour to Alabama next weekend but will be back in the New York area on September 7th at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey and Bethel Woods Center for the Arts September 12th.

We want to send a big thank you to everybody who purchased tickets during our presale and joined us for our tailgate party! We’ll see ya at the next show.

Kane Brown Releases Brand New Track “Like A Rodeo”

Like A Rodeo Kane Brown

25 year old, Chattanooga, Tennessee local released his new single “Like a Rodeo” after striking his Instagram followers a deal. Brown’s abbreviated, teased lip-syncing clip of the new track had to obtain over one million views.

It did.

This emotive, lyrically penned track, released on July 12th, begins with illustrating the roller coaster ride of a relationship matching lust to an eight-second bull riding adrenaline rush. The wins, the losses and everything in between. This cowboy romance descends into the sensation of meeting somebody for the very first time and hitting it off instantly. A true “love at first sight” moment.

A vintage scene colors every lyric falling from Brown’s lips. He sings: I picked you up with the cowboy nod / At the hotel bar / It was less than eight seconds / Girl, you stole my heart

As this relationship progresses, Brown assimilates the hold of his girl through the good and the bad to the hold a cowboy must have to remain its ride. The “Heaven” singer doesn’t acknowledge the simplicity of the relationship, but the purity of the high times singing, “Girl there’s something kinda dangerous / About the way you move / I knew it wouldn’t be easy / Hanging onto you / ‘Cause when you hit the lights / Put your lips on mine / It gets hotter than a Houston night”

Brown’s slow-rolling production is above and beyond a rodeo. Brown married his longtime girlfriend Katelyn Jae on October 12, 2018, in Franklin Springs, Tennessee at the Mint Springs Farm. This year, the couple announced the exciting news that they are expecting a baby girl.

Experiment, Brown’s second full-length release featured chart-topping hits “Lose It,” “Good as You” and soon to be radio single, “Homesick.” “Like a Rodeo” is not a single off of Brown’s second studio album, and there is no word of a current forthcoming album yet.

Gabby Barrett Sings About How She Got One Of “The Good Ones”

Gabby Barrett The Good Ones

After the success of her debut single, “I Hope”, Gabby Barrett is back again with her brand new song, “The Good Ones.” The rising country star who first appeared on American Idol in 2018 worked with songwriters Emily Landis, Jim McCormick, and Zachary Kale to craft this romantic and uplifting song. The track definitely strays in meaning to her first single. Whereas “I Hope” was all about getting revenge on an evil ex, “The Good Ones” highlights Barrett’s favorite qualities about her very own ‘good one.’ The inspiration behind the adorable ‘good one’ in the song– her fiance, Cade Foehner.

Barrett shared that, “When people ask me about Cade, how he’s doing or how we’re doing, I always end up saying, “oh he’s great, he’s a keeper, he’s a good one.” That’s where the song came from – appreciating what I’ve got and what he means to me.” Barrett’s appreciation for her fiance shines through in the song, making listeners not only want a good one for themselves but also hopeful that there’s someone out there to fill that void.

With lyrics that can make anyone swoon like, “A love me like he should one / Like he wrote the book one / The kind you find when you don’t even look one / Anybody can be good once / But he’s good all the time / He’s one of the good ones,” Barrett’s love and admiration for her fiance is beyond clear. As she’s been in the studio with GRAMMY-nominated producer Ross Copperman, “The Good Ones,” teases listeners with what to expect from her debut album which is in the works.

Spending her summer playing various festivals and even getting the opportunity to headline some of her own shows, Barrett is a must-see act for any country music lover. This is just the start of what should be an extremely exciting and successful career.

Midland Continues To Prove They are Masters of Wordplay With “Playboys”

Midland Playboys

On Midland’s newest release, “Playboys,” the Texan trio continues to put on a masterclass in traditional yet modern country music. With a toe-tapping melody remnant of the heyday of country music, the group also executes a clever play of words that only elevates the song. While there’s always a risk of getting cheesy with wordplay, Midland manages to carry it through the track in a clever and appealing way.

The song tells the story of a troubadour who can’t commit to a woman due to his music career. “She said I thought that I could change you/ But you were born a playboy,” The lament, before cleverly turning the phrase. “So get on the stage and play boy.”

“We ain’t good at love/ We ain’t good at much/ We just know how to play,” The song continues. “I’m just a playboy/ You can’t blame me for the way I was made, boys.” Make sure to stick around for the Brad Paisley-esque guitar solo around 2:20, kicked off appropriately with a shout of “Play boys!”

“Playboys” is the third song released by Midland off their new album, Let It Roll, due out August 23. “We want to keep things fresh and real,” says bassist, Cameron Duddy in a statement. “The beauty of being in Dripping Springs [Texas] and spending so much time on the road, we don’t get caught up in what’s trending. We’re able to follow our hearts—and our livers—to where we think country is the best.”

“Everything we’ve learned out on the road touring On The Rocks is all right here on this album,” adds lead singer Mark Wystrach. “These songs are deeply personal and from the heart.”

Midland will support the new release with a fall tour that kicks off at Terminal 5 in New York City on September 17. Tickets for that show are available here.

To keep up with Midland, follow them on InstagramTwitter, and Facebook.
