2017 has brought us so many new and memorable moments to be grateful for. As we countdown to 2018, we are reflecting on our Top 10 New York Country Swag Favorite Moments of the Year. Next up, #8: Taste of Country Music Festival.
Early June, we headed to Hunter Mountain in upstate New York for the Annual Taste of Country Music Festival. This three-day festival featured incredible country music including headlining acts, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert and Kip Moore. Every year, the festival is the perfect place for country fans to gather and enjoy some great music.
In the past, our New York Country Swag Team has enjoyed the festival as fans, but 2017 marked our first year being there as a vendor and our first vending experience at a major music festival. Setting up shop on the mountain, we sold merchandise from our store and had the honor of meeting so many country fans who enjoyed getting to know more about our brand and walked away rockin’ our gear.
We are so thankful for our time on the mountain and look forward to returning in 2018!
We hope to see ya’ll there! For ticket information, visit: http://tasteofcountryfestival.com

The countdown continues as we give you our Top 10 New York Country Swag Moments of 2017.
With two full years under our belt, New York Country Swag spent 2017 expanding our brand and working towards bringing more country music to New York City fans. This brings us to favorite moment #9: “New York Country Swag Presents:”, a series of unique live events we coordinated throughout the year, showcasing country music’s hottest new rising stars in different settings.
After ringing in the new year, we kicked off our “New York Country Swag Presents:” Series with a suite experience for Eric Church‘s “Holdin’ My Own” Tour. The show hit Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in late January where New York Country Swag hosted 36 fans in a private suite for an unforgettable concert experience.
Next our “New York Country Swag Presents: Country Brunch” returned, where we hosted rising star, Russell Dickerson at New York City’s, Printers Alley. Dickerson performed songs from his debut EP and fans were able to see him in an intimate setting before he opened for Thomas Rhett’s Home Team Tour across the country.
Following Brunch, New York Country Swag hosted Brandon Ray at Printers Alley for a”New York Country Swag Presents: Country Night.” “The thing about country music fans is they’re loyal, whenever you go back to a city the same people sort of latch on to you and tell their friends about it.” Ray introduced the audience to “Ends of the Earth” which he later released as a single and even a cover of Nick Jonas’ “Jealous”. Check out a full recap video including an interview with Brandon below.
Once summer hit, we brought the events to the beach as “New York Country Swag Presents: Country Night on the Water” returned. Jackie Lee, the “Getting Over You” singer headlined the first night, playing to a sold-out crowd at Rockaway Beach’s, Bungalow Bar, in late June. “It blows my mind, I’m from a small town in East Tennessee, to be able to come up to New York and see all of the country music fans, all of the rednecks, as I like to say, it blows my mind every time I come up here, it’s very refreshing, it’s awesome,” he said before playing his set. Check out the full recap video above.
As summer came to a close, we returned to Rockaway Beach to host one more “New York Country Swag Presents: Country Night on the Water” featuring The Swon Brothers. The deck was packed with fans not ready to let go of the warm weather. The Voice alums took the stage to sing singles off their latest EP, Pretty Cool Scars including their current single “Don’t Call Me” and “Dwight Trashed” which they told us was an ode to 90’s country music. It was the perfect ending to a summer filled with country shows.
Marking the start of Fall, our events came back to the big city as we returned to Printers Alley for a “New York Country Swag Presents: Country Night“. The event featured Mo Pitney for a stripped down acoustic set. He played songs off his latest album “Behind This Guitar” including the title track, “Country” and “Boy and a Girl Thing”. His traditional twang filled the country-themed bar. After his set, he told New York Country Swag about his debut performance at The Grand Ole Opry where he received a standing ovation from the crowd. The hour-long set concluded with Pitney taking pictures and signing autographs for the crowd.
We’re looking forward to bringing you more great events in 2018.

Some of New York and New Jersey’s greatest local country artists came together last night at Maxwell’s Tavern for Country Christmas Showdown. Radio personality Matt Burrill of Magic 98.3 hosted the event introducing each of the artists before their set.
The lineup included an acoustic, songwriter round featuring Tommy Cole, Ben O’Connor and Keith Eric with Fred Fencke. Each of the men took turns telling stories about their original songs and playing them for the packed crowd of fans.
Next up was Carolyn Miller, October Rose and Jessica Rose who each took the stage separately to spread Christmas cheer and showcase their newest original songs.
Headliners Spinn and Lauren Davidson kept the party going then Tommy Cole joined Davidson on stage for the crowd pleaser “Baby It’s Cold Outside”.
Closing out the night all of the performers came together to perform “Christmas (Baby Come Home)”. The group of performers are truly a group of friends who support each other and came together to celebrate the holidays in the best way.

Ryan Kinder, Warner Music Nashville recording artist played his first official full band show in New York City Tuesday night. Kinder took the stage at Mercury Lounge in lower Manhattan to perform his music for a full room of fans.
His 60-minute set included a rockin’ song called “Alabama”, a heavenly cover of Al Green’s “Love and Happiness” and of course his latest single “Still Believe in Crazy Love” which Kinder then led the crowd in a full-blown sing-a-long of the last chorus. For fans who have been following his career, he played his debut single from 2014, “Kiss Me When I’m Down” which quotes New York in the lyrics. (“And now I’m flying high / Just crossed over the New York lights / Where are you tonight? / Am I too late to make this right? / Will you hold me, touch me / Say that you forgive me / Save me when I hit the ground / Will you kiss me when I’m down?”)
His smooth vocals along with his undeniable guitar playing make Kinder a definite one to watch for the new year. His sound is unique, taking the best parts of country music songwriting and sonically mashing that with John Mayer, rootsy vibes. Kinder was also joined on stage by two incredible background vocalists, Kristen Rogers and Stephcynie who enhanced each song with sass and powerful harmonies.
When we sat down with Kinder in September, he told us that his debut full-length album is definitely in the works. “We don’t have a date. I’m taking my time on it because I want to get it right,” he explained. Looking forward to the new year and new music, be sure to follow Kinder on social media, Instagram,Facebook, and Twitter.
