Hannah Ellis Shares Updated Version of Touching Song “Officer Down”

Hannah Ellis releases updated version of her song “Officer Down (10th Anniversary)” out now, October 17th, on all streaming platforms. Listen here.

Hannah Ellis is the type of artist that would be a creator, a songwriter, and a singer in any phase or stage of life. A true artist in every sense of the word, Ellis creates music that touches people. Today, in honor of the life and legacy of her late cousin and the 10th anniversary of his tragic death, Ellis reimagines her song, “Officer Down (10th Anniversary).”

The song details the heartbreaking truth behind the death of Ellis’ cousin Daniel, a 33 year old police offer who was killed int he line of duty on November 4th, 2015. Throughout the song, Ellis conveys the heartbreaking reality of losing someone you love, while paying tribute to all the lost heroes, like Daniel, who risk their lives every day to protect others. While hard to get through, the song is a true masterpiece of conveying emotion and vulnerability through music.

“Red and Blue Lights Cover seventy five like a train // Miles of cars full of people with nothing to say // The suns out, you think that it’s just another November day // Oh and I can’t help but be mad knowing I’ll leave and you’re gonna stay // They called me on a cell phone telling me there’s an officer down // And we prayed for a miracle, but you didn’t come back around // Oh I kissed you goodbye a thousand times, but never like I’m doing right now // Oh we’re 21 shots going up for the officer down”

Along with the song release, Ellis teamed up with C.O.P.S. to host the first annual ‘Officer Down Golf Classic.’ Together, they provided support to the families of fallen officers. The event took place in Nashville, Tennessee, and will continue to be a beacon of light for families who have suffered this great tragedy for years to come.

Jordan Davis Goes Number One at Country Radio with “Bar None”

Jordan Davis earns his ninth number-one song at country radio this week with his single, “Bar None’.” Learn all the details here.

We have said it time and time again, Jordan Davis is one of the most underrated singer-songwriters in the country music genre. Davis continues to crank out hit after hit. His latest project, Learn The Hard Way is truly one of his best albums to date, and we are not the only people who think so! Today the singer-songwriter earns his ninth number one single at country radio with “Bar None.”

Prior to the album’s release, Davis celebrated the single at Common Country, where he popped-up and played bartender for fans, while his song blasted on the speakers. From that moment, it was clear that “Bar None” was going to be a. hit.  With a unique musical flair, the single is one of Davis’ catchiest songs to date. It’s honest, flirty, fun, and authentic; despite, some of the melancholy, broken-heart lyrics.

“If it weren’t your tires leaving me in the dust // If you weren’t the kind that you only find once // Then the burn of this bourbon wouldn’t be hurting so bad // Yeah, you were for certain the best thing I ever had // Bar, none // Now I’m gettin’ goner than your long-gone boots // Nothin’ I’m workin’ on works on you // I’ve been breakin’ every bottle open // Doin’ what a banged up, broken heart does // I’m gonna need three or four more // Baby, if a movin’ on had a scoreboard // It’d say, “You and your memory, one” // “Me and this bar, none””

Congrats to Jordan Davis and his team on his ninth number one at country radio! We are excited to see what single hits the radio airwaves next.

Priscilla Block: ‘Things You Didn’t See’ – Album Review

Priscilla Block’s album, Things You Didn’t See is officially out now, October 10th, on all streaming platforms. Check out the new record and listen below.

On her sophomore album, Things You Didn’t See, Priscilla Block pulls back the curtain and lets listeners in. Beyond the big personality and even bigger hits, there’s a softer, more vulnerable side to the Raleigh native, and she’s not afraid to show it.

Across 14 tracks, Block opens up like never before, teaming up with some of Nashville’s top songwriters to bring her story to life. She co-wrote 12 of the songs alongside hitmakers like Laura Veltz, Cole Taylor, Trannie Anderson, Tyler Hubbard, Jessie Jo Dillon, and more.

The title track kicks things off, immediately setting the tone for what’s to come. Honest and unfiltered, it gives listeners a look at the parts of her life that don’t make the public highlight reel, including heartbreak, pressure, and pain. “Everybody’s got a hurtin’ heart they’re hidin’ underneath,” she sings. “You think that you know me, but how ’bout all the things you didn’t see?”

“Couldn’t Care Less” is another standout with a similar message. “For what has felt like forever, here we are stepping into a new chapter,” says Block of the project. “The past couple of years have been a rollercoaster. This life has challenged me not only as an artist, but as a person. Honestly, there’s been a part of me that has felt misunderstood. The girl who “couldn’t care less,” when in reality, I’ve never cared more. Writing ‘Couldn’t Care Less’ was the therapy I didn’t even know I needed. For a long time, people have seen me as bulletproof, but this is a side they haven’t seen. It’s the misunderstood part of me… the insecurities that come with being human.”

Still, Block hasn’t lost the cheeky charm and country swagger fans love her for. “Goodwill to Gucci” is a playful standout that shows off her uncanny ability to make “hillbilly hood look Hollywood,” while “Yard Sale” is a scorned-girlfriend ‘s anthem about getting rid of an ex and everything he left behind.

Block tackles heartbreak on tracks like “Bring Me Downtown,” “Phones and Radios,” and “2-3-4.” “Downtown” is a pop-tinted banger that uses clever wordplay as she reflects on all the places she used to love, but now hold only broken memories.  “All I’m ever thinking about is when you used to bring me downtown, now it ain’t nothin’ but a bring me down, town.”

“Stranger Things” pairs Block with rising star Chase Matthew in a slow-burning ballad about second-guessing a breakup. Trading verses, the two wonder if it’s ever truly too late to turn back. “I might be crazy for asking, but stranger things have happened.”

Block balances the heartbreak with a few romantic highlights. “He’s My Man” is a feel-good celebration of the kind of guy who’s equal parts Southern charm and small-town grit, while “He’s My Man” allows her to celebrate all the good things about the man she loves.

“He’s a little Waylon Jennings on a Friday night // Mess with me, you’re gonna see him fight // He’s a don’t quit ’til the job’s done // If you need a cold beer, bet you he’s got one // He’ll give you that shirt right off his back // The Bible and his mama taught him how to act // To anybody else he’s just a small town, settle down // Nothin’ but a good old boy // But he’s my man”

Elsewhere, “Good On You” finds her struggling with being replaced, while “Try” shows her playing hard to get. “Elijah” is a beautifully written love song about the long road that brought her to the right person, and “You’re Breaking My Heart (Cecilia)” stands out with its clever nod to the Simon & Garfunkel classic.

The album closes on a quieter note with “Time Ain’t a Two Lane,” a sparse piano ballad that aches with the desire to fix what’s already gone. “I’d give anything in this world for just one day,” she longs, “But time ain’t a two lane.”

On Things You Didn’t See, Priscilla Block takes listeners inside, breaking down the glamorous walls of fame to show off a more real and emotional side. It’s her most vulnerable and introspective project to date, truly reintroducing the rising star.

Lauren Watkins: ‘In A Perfect World’ – Album Review

Lauren Watkins releases her brand new album, In A Perfect World, out now, October 10th on all streaming platforms. Listen to the new project here.

With In A Perfect World, Lauren Watkins delivers an intimate portrait of a young woman and rising superstar coming into her own. Released via Big Loud Records / Songs & Daughters, the 10-track collection builds on the momentum of her breakout debut The Heartbroken Record, this time finding Watkins leaning further into her unique style. She’s a storyteller in the vein of Kacey Musgraves, Carly Pearce, and Alison Krauss, but possesses a honeyed tone that’s akin to Trisha Yearwood meets Ashley Monroe.

The result is masterful and gorgeous. An effortless combination of sweet and sassy, Watkins leans heavily into country instrumentation and tropes. She collaborated throughout with her husband and producer, Will Bundy, as well as hitmaker Joey Moi. The singer-songwriter co-penned all of the album’s tracks, alongside superstar writers like Trannie Anderson, Rodney Clawson, Natalie Hemby, Mark Trussell and more.

“I am so beyond proud of this music,” shared Watkins. “I’ve lived so much life in the past couple years, from playing shows all over the world and spending half of my time on the road, to building a sweet little life in a farmhouse with my husband. It’s made me appreciate so many parts of all of it. I’ve started embracing the simple things just as much as the chaos. And that’s what inspired these 10 songs. It paints a good picture of what my world looks like these days, but I really hope people can see their own world within it too.”

The album opens on an almost ethereal note with the title track, a lush and dreamy ballad that wonders about love and perfection. With lyrics like “It might be nice to have a shiny white picket fence life // But I bet a man like you would never love this girl in a perfect world,” Watkins sets the tone for an album steeped in realism, longing, and self-awareness.

She continues to showcase her lyricism on standout tracks like the ode to a “perfectly predictable” love on “Average Joe and Plain Jane” and “Love Is Tough,” a powerful testament to the enduring qualities of real love. With its building arrangement and heartland grit, it recalls the musical punch of “Gatlinburg” from her debut. “It’s all breakups ‘til you meet the one,” she muses, her voice both full of whimsy and wisdom.

“When it’s right, when it’s real // Love is downright hard to kill // Holds its own strong as steel // Stands its ground, digs in its heels // Any storm, any weather // It’ll hold this thing together // There ain’t nothin’ it’s scared of // Love is tough”

Songs like “Britches” and “I’ll Get Through It” show her steely and empowered side, with the former calling out a frenemy who’s let her ego take over. With the zinger “You might be a size two, but you’re too big for your britches,” it’s Watkins at her sassiest yet. Meanwhile, “Get Through It” is a stomping testament to perseverance. “I got a hangover in store // But just like you walking out that door / I’ll get through it.”

“Marlboro Man” is a wistful and Western ode to nostalgia, while “Lose My Cool” feels inspired  by the heyday of 90s country. Likewise, the harmonic and swooping “I Was Fine Before I Met You” would sound right at home on the Grand Ole Opry stage. Interestingly, the steel-laden track begins with its chorus in a way that’s unique and perfectly executed.

“I was fine before I met you // I was wild and twenty-three // Out here drinkin’ for a good time // Not tryin’ to kill a memory It might be hard to forget you // Hope it don’t take too damn long // But I was fine before I met you // So there ain’t no reason why I won’t be fine when you’re gone”

Watkins pairs with John Morgan on a sultry duet, singing through the back-and-forth of an on-and-off again relationship, equal parts irresistible and doomed. Their voices meld gorgeously on the bittersweet chorus, mapping the emotional rollercoaster with precision.

“You and me // Crown and Coke Six string // Playin’ slow One backslide turns into tellin’ our friends that we’re // Back in love, They’ll roll their eyes We’ll say they’re wrong // But prove ‘em right // Wind up heartbroken all over again // We’ve been down this road // We both know it’s a slippery slope”

The album closes with the heart-wrenching “Pretty Please,” one of Watkins’ most vulnerable songs to date. Suspicious and insecure, she pleads for reassurance as jealousy creeps in, wondering where she stands in her own relationship: “Don’t call her pretty / Please, with a cherry on top,” She pleads, voice aching with emotion as she wonders about the “second comin’ of Jolene.”

In A Perfect World is a gorgeously crafted, deeply personal record that proves Lauren Watkins to be a vital new voice in country music.

Dasha-anna

Dasha: ‘Anna’ – EP Review

Dasha shares her brand new EP, Anna, out now October 10th on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new project here.

After bursting onto the scene with the viral sensation “Austin,” Dasha has quickly become one of country music’s most exciting and interesting new artists. With a sound that mixes catchy pop hooks with honest country storytelling, she brings something fresh to the table. Her new EP, Anna, takes things even further.

Part pop chanteuse, part country heartbreaker, all aspects of her unique style are on display in the new collection, out now. Featuring eight new tracks, the rising singer-songwriter dabbles in viral sounds on “Like It Like That,” shares her vulnerable side on “Oh, Anna,” and creates pure pop-country perfection on “Not at This Party.”

The EP opens with “Work on Me,” an immediate attention-grabber that’s equal parts swinging and soulful. With an effortless Motown-esque bounce, it sounds different from anything she’s done before and sets the tone for the project.

From there, she slides straight into “Not at This Party,” a toe-tapping, radio-ready earworm that cleverly juxtaposes heartbroken lyrics with an uptempo melody. It’s contradictory in the best way, with the lyrics floating over the music in a way that feels effortless.

“‘Not At This Party’ was a title I’d been carrying around for a while,” Dasha shared in a statement. “It’s about that universal experience of being out with friends, but mentally checked out. When I wrote it with Ashley Gorley and Ben Johnson, I was going through something with a guy, and the song just flowed. We really tried to capture that mix of distraction and guilt in the song.”

“I’m not at this party, I’m back in your back seat // You’re pulling it over, you just had to have me // I can’t hear this music ’cause I’m hearing you yell // You’re so in love with me but right now, you need to work on yourself, mmm //  And they think I moved on with my life, that I’m having a good night // Out here on this dance floor, just like everybody // But nobody here knows just how bad you got me I’m not at this party”

On songs like “I Don’t Mean To” and “Gimmie a Second,” the California native grapples with a broken heart. Meanwhile, both “Please Stop Changing” and “Train” explore the feeling of life moving on without her, leaning into the bittersweet nature of nostalgia.

“’Cause time changes everything // You hang some pictures up and make // A habit outta taking the same way // To the grocery store // You learn the turns and time the lights // The town you didn’t recognize // Becomes a little more like home // And you’ll know when you’re // Used to thе license plates // And you got a couple friends next door // You’ll wake up, realize one day // That you don’t hear the train anymore”

Meanwhile, “I LIke it Like That” is easily the most likely to go viral and replicate the success of “Austin.” With its earwormy melody and pop-laden lyrics, it’s primed to be the next big sensation. ”‘Like It Like That’ is about letting go of that pressure to get love ‘right’ and embracing the moments that don’t fit the plan,” Dasha tells Holler. “At this point in my life, I’m not trying to have it all figured out—sometimes the so-called wrong person is exactly right for right now.”

The EP ends on a special moment, “Oh Anna,” showing a different side of the growing singer-songwriter. It’s a classic country story song, sparse and acoustic with a vulnerable edge as she pens a sweet letter to the little girl she used to be.

“I miss you, I need you // I left you, didn’t mean to // I wish you would come back a little, come back a little // Run as fast as you can // I wish you would meet me in the middle, meet me in the middle // Take me by the hand // I feel more like a scared little kid than I ever did, back then // I need you to come back a little, comе back a little // Make me that girl again// Oh, Anna.”

“When my career took off last year, everything changed so fast—and in the whirlwind, I felt like I lost myself. It was disorienting and, honestly, scary. I faced a lot of hate in the middle of my success, and for a while, my confidence disappeared,” she shares of the song. “So I wrote a song—not just for who I am now, but for the fearless little girl I used to be. The one with big dreams, unshakable pride, and a clear sense of self. This song is a reminder of her strength, her clarity, and her joy.”

“I hope when people hear it, they reconnect with their own younger selves—the purest versions of who they are,” she explained. “And if they’re feeling lost, I want them to know: sometimes the way forward is found by remembering where you started. My name is Anna Dasha—and I’m proud to say, she’s back.”
