Chris Young and Kane Brown Earn #1 Song with “Famous Friends”

Chris Young and Kane Brown earn #1 song with their collaboration “Famous Friends.” The song is officially the top song at country radio.

Back in November, Chris Young dropped a brand new song in collaboration with his buddy, fellow superstar Kane Brown. That song is of course, hit single, “Famous Friends.” Today, the track is the number one song at country radio.

Written by Young with Cary Barlowe and Corey Crowder, the song is an ode to amazing people in Rutherford, Hamilton, and Davidson Country, Tennessee, all places that are special to the singer. The twosome sing about local heroes like preachers, sheriffs, and teachers. The collaboration marks the second time Young and Brown have shared the mic on a song. Back in 2016, the singers released “Setting the Night on Fire” together.

“I’ve got some famous friends you’ve probably never heard of // But back in Rutherford County our crowd is second to none // You might not know ‘em here in this big city we’re in // But when I go back home I’ve got some famous friends // Yeah I do”

“Famous Friends” is the 12th official number one single for Young. For Brown, the song brings his total hits to seven. Quite a feat for talented artists!

Dierks Bentley Earns 20th #1 Single with “Gone”

Dierks Bentley’s song “Gone” rises to the top of the country music charts this week, earning him his 20th number-one single at country radio.

Dierks Bentley is one of the most recognizable names in the country music genre. Back in October, he released his brand new single, “Gone,” and it was clear then that he had another hit on his hands. Today, Bentley’s song “Gone” is officially the number one song at country radio.

Written by Nicolle Galyon, Ben Johnson, and singer-songwriter, Niko Moon, “Gone” was primed for greatness. The song is all about a man going into hiding when his lover walks out of him. Bentley manages to bring the broodiness and the cheekiness to life with this creative tune. When asked about the song, the singer related it to how he felt sitting at home during the quarantine. He missed being out on the road.

“My buddies think I’m on the lake // Boss thinks I’ve been sick for days // And mama’s probably on her way // ‘Cause I ain’t picked up the phone // I’ve been a million places // But they’re all up in my head // Over-drinking, overthinking ever since you left // I’ve been gone, I’ve been gone”

“Gone” overtook Luke Combs’ mega-hit “Forever After All,” which sat in the top spot for three weeks straight. The song is Bentley’s second consecutive #1, following “Living.” It marks an impressive twenty number ones for the superstar.

This week Dylan Scott’s current radio single, “Nobody” is the number one song on the charts! It is hard to believe that this marks only the second number-one single of his career since his song “My Girl” flew up the charts a few years ago.
“Nobody” was an instant hit, since it was released two years ago. Both catchy and romantic, the song appealed to country music lovers everywhere. In this song, Scott combines his talent for creating catchy romance songs with adding a unique flavor to his music.
“I know how you like your coffee // And how hot you like your bath // I know what makes you angry // And what makes you laugh // I know the taste of your lips // Every inch of your skin // The little things that turn you on // I know that look in your eyes when they look back at mine…”

Eric Church’s “Hell Of A View” Lands Him His 10th Number One Song

Eric Church’s current single “Hell Of A View” from his album Soul rises to the top of the country music charts this week, marking the eleventh number-one single of his career.

As his triple album Heart, &, and Soul continues to amass millions of streams by fans everywhere, Eric Church’s lead single off Soul is making waves on the charts. This week the Chief’s song “Hell Of A View” is the number one song on the country charts. This marks the eleventh number-one single of his career.

Throughout his long career, Church has been somewhat of a dark horse and an outlaw. He writes and releases music strictly for the fans. Six of his singles have reached the top of the charts, including fan favorites like “Springsteen,” “Record Year,” and most recently, “Some of It.”

Additionally, the singer-songwriter collaborated on four additional singles that rose to the number one spot. This includes Luke Combs’ “Does to Me” and his song with Keith Urban, “Raise ‘Em Up.”

Sam Hunt’s Current Single “Breaking Up Was Easy In The 90’s” Hits #1

Sam Hunt lands his eighth number one song at country radio this week with “Breaking Up Was Easy In The 90’s”. The fifth single off his Southside album.

Sam Hunt is one of those artists that floats in and out of the limelight but always manages to crank out hit after hit. We are big fans of his latest album Southside, and it’s no surprise that each of his singles from the record have landed on the top of the charts. Currently, “Breaking Up Was Easy In The 90’s” is the number one song on the country charts, marking the fourth single off the record to hit the top spot, following “Body Like A Back Road,” “Kinfolks,” and “Hard To Forget.”

“Breaking Up Was Easy In The 90’s” was easily one of our favorites off the record. Hunt utilizes his signature ‘talk-singing’ on the track to convey how difficult break-ups are in modern times. He comes to the conclusion that breaking up was easier back in the ’90s. The cleverly strung-together lyrics, make it hard not to fall in love with this all too relatable song.

“Funny how you haven’t changed a bit // You’re twice as pretty // Glad you finally got to see New York City // I know it’s not a race, but looks like you’re getting over me faster than I’m getting over you // But hey // What you gonna do.”

It seems Hunt is ready to continue to release more music and play shows again, so we’re excited to see what he has up his sleeve next. It’s clear from his social media that he is constantly writing, so we’re sure fans are in store for something big. Until then, congrats to Hunt and his team on their eighth number one song!

Jake Owen’s “Made For You” Lands Him His 9th Number One Song

Multi-platinum singer-songwriter Jake Owen lands his ninth career number one song at country radio this week with “Made For You”.

Almost a year ago, Jake Owen’s single “Made For You” impacted country radio. The romantic love song was a hit from the start with other country musicians and fans alike. Today, the song hit the top spot on the country charts, marking Owen’s ninth #1 song of his career.

Written by Benjy Davis, Joey Hyde, and Neil Medley, the ballad is all about how love makes your life. It is one of those songs that are so special and heartfelt, making anyone who has ever experienced love feel something. “Made For You” is the fourth radio single off Owen’s latest record Greetings From… Jake. The song is clearly tailor-made for wedding season, and now is the perfect time for the song to peak.

“Early curfews are made for sneakin’ past // Two AM was made for pissed off dads // And I was made for you, yeah I was made for you // like a ship without a sea // Or a song without a melody // I don’t know where I’d be or what I’d do // ‘Cause I was made for you”

Owen has been rather quiet this year, but it’s clear the singer is getting ready to release more music and a new project sooner rather than later. We are excited for what’s next for Owen. Until then, congrats to Jake Owen and his team for another smash hit with “Made For You!”

Tenille Arts Scores First #1 Song with “Somebody Like That”

Rising star Tenille Arts lands her very first career number one song at country radio this week with “Somebody Like That”.

For the second week in a row, a female country artist has the top song on the country music charts! Following Gabby Barrett, newcomer and NYCountry Swag 2021 Artist to Watch, Tenille Arts has landed her first number one song with her current radio single “Somebody Like That.”

Back in 2020, when we reviewed Arts’ record Love, Heartbreak & Everything In Between, we coined her single “one to watch,” and it looks like we were right. The songstress is one of those singer-songwriters that feels like your best friend giving you great advice. Her song “Somebody Like that” is all about not settling in a relationship until you find a love like no other. Her confidence, pride, and power all come through in this anthemic single. The infectious country-pop song is the perfect introduction to all of Arts’ talents!

“But I want that all in, falling’ // Keep the fire burning like the first time feeling // No matter what if I’m gonna love // I’m gonna love somebody like that // Kinda heart, open arms // Says forever and will never ever take it back // If I’m gonna love // I’m gonna love somebody like that”

We are excited to see what is in store for Arts as her career continues to blossom. We also hope that this is a turning of the tides for female artists in the industry, as more and more, get the recognition they deserve on radio.

Gabby Barrett Lands Second Consecutive #1 Single with “The Good Ones”

Gabby Barret lands her second consecutive number one song at country radio this week with “The Good Ones”, following her massive debut single, “I Hope”.

Gabby Barrett has had much success in her blossoming career in the industry. Her sassy debut single “I Hope” soared to the top of the charts and subsequently went 5x double platinum. Now, her follow-up single, “The Good Ones” is following suit,” rising to the number one spot on the country charts this week.

Her first single may have been a sassy one, but “The Good Ones” is a straight-up love song that we all swoon listening to. The lyrics highlight what it feels like to be in a relationship that is full of mutual love and respect. Barrett shares all the things she loves about her man.

“A love me like he should one // Like he wrote the book one // The kind you find when you don’t even look one // Anybody can be good one // But he’s good all the time // He’s one of the good ones // And he’s all mine // He’s one of the good ones”

Although the representation of female singer-songwriters on the radio is still not enough, it is exciting to see Barrett break down molds. Like fellow female artists, Maren Morris and Kelsea Ballerini, Barrett is proving to have radio success with her singles, as women continue to break glass ceilings in and beyond the music industry.
