The Beginning:

In this week’s spotlight, we highlight a singer-songwriter who is a true artist in every sense of the word. We chatted with Ben Gallaher all about his career in country music, his new record Time, and everything in between.

“I’m originally from Pennsylvania, and my folks got me a guitar when I was six, and it was a God thing. From then on, I felt like playing guitar and music was what I was supposed to do,” shared Gallaher. From an early age, music felt like his true passion in life; despite, the fact that no one in his family was musically-inclined.

“I was trying to strum along on that guitar to all the Tim McGraw records and Alan Jackson and Brooks & Dunn, before I could really play. Even then, I was starting to get the rhythm and the bug from all of that,” shared the singer, adding, “I grew up on 90s country radio, that was the only thing that played in the house. I’ve had the bug from then on. I didn’t get into Rock and Roll until high-school. It was strictly 90s country into that early 2000s.”

As Gallaher got older and honed his skills in guitar and singing, both songwriting and different genres of music began to evolve his artistry. His sound quickly blended his unique influences, taking inspiration from artists in the country and rock genres. “It’s all over the board between 90s country and Rock. It is Brooks & Dunn and Tracy Lawerence and all that stuff, but then it’s also ZZTop and John Mayer and Lynrynd Skynard and The Eagles. That list goes on and on,” he shared.

The Turning Point:

Armed with clarity that music was his calling in life, Gallaher knew from an early age that he had to make the move to Nashville, Tennessee. “I never had a back-up plan or a plan B. […] I knew this was it,” he shared, adding, “Nashville, that’s the place for country and I knew at a very young age that I was going to move to Nashville. Then when I turned nineteen, I moved here and I’ve been rocking ever since.”

For just over a decade, Gallaher has been making connections in Music City and grinding it out on the road, creating a loyal fanbase with each and every show. “I loved writing. When I first moved to Nashville, I felt like a lot of artists, one oft he first things they do, they try to break into that songwriting community and gather their own circles of who they like to write with and dive into that world, and as much as I love writing, I was such a live guy that when I moved to Nashville I was focused on getting a band and getting on the road and playing outside of town,” shared the singer-songwriter. “Home base was Nashville, I would write here, but I would not be able to sleep at night when I first moved because I was trying to take this thing out of town.”

In his career so far, Gallaher has played hundreds of shows that would all lead to the creation of his latest project, Time.

Today:

Flash forward to today, it feels like all of Gallaher’s hard work has culminated into a very important project called Time.

“I feel like this is part of the reason why I named the album ‘Time,’ because every song, every guitar solo, every rift, every live show in my career has led me to this album because it’s the album I always wanted to make from top to bottom,” explained the singer. “We recorded it in the span of one year, but I pulled everything that got me to this point into this album. I had a hand in every process which doesn’t always happen. […] Whether it was songwriting to playing lad guitar on the songs to picking what songs were going to be on the album to picking the photo cover and writing the font. This record is so close to me, and I think it’s the best stuff I’ve ever done.”

The record features thirteen beautifully crafted songs that tell a unique story. “A record is a musical journey that a listener goes through from song to song. […] I think that’s an important to go and figure out what the record is trying to say and the emotions that are linked up with the song,” shared the singer, adding, “We were picking from several hundred songs, whether I wrote them or they were outside cuts. The biggest thing is the best song wins, no matter who wrote it. I wrote about half of them and the others felt like they needed to be on the project, and even if I didn’t write them, it felt like it was something I would say and it was where I was at musically, and that’s a big thing.”

Time beautifully melds together Gallaher’s rock and country influences, while still feeling fresh and authentic to his own unique artistry. “If you listen to my record ‘Time,’ you wouldn’t listen to that and think it sounds like 90s country, but that’s when I got the bug. I’m still inspired by [all these genres] even if my music doesn’t sound like that sound because it got me to where I’m at now.”

For Gallaher, releasing the new project is the start of something great. He plans to head out on the road as much as possible in 2026 to bring the fans the music in a live setting. “I’ve always be a live guy. I love to connect in person through these songs.” Stay tuned and head to his website to keep tabs on tour dates!
