Today Show Debut Mitchell Tenpenny

We have championed rising country star, Mitchell Tenpenny’s success for over a year now. Back in 2017, we hosted a Live Swag Session with the artist, who at the time didn’t even have a record deal. Flash forward, just one year later, and the singer-songwriter sold out his NYC headlining show, dropped his debut album Telling All My Secrets, and hit the number one spot on the country charts with his smash hit “Drunk Me.” Continuing the momentum into 2019, Tenpenny performed his single on NBC’s TODAY, this morning, as part of the Citi Concert Series, marking his first time on the show.

He was introduced by the co-anchors by saying, “Country singer-songwriter, Mitchell Tenpenny is poised for a big year. He ended 2018 by releasing his major label debut album and he’s not slowing down,” Tenpenny took some time to chat with the hosts, before delivering an epic performance of “Drunk Me.” When asked how he’s feeling about his journey thus far, the powerhouse singer explained, “We’re still living the dream. We have to pinch ourselves sometimes. This is crazy, we’re here in NYC with y’all.” Right after the sentiment, one of the hosts gave Tenpenny another “pinch me moment,” as he handed him his plaque that signified that “Drunk Me” went platinum.

Tenpenny, clearly blown-away, stated he was “speechless,” but still was able to deliver a cool rendition of the song with a four-piece band to back him. Donning, a ball-cap and a guitar, the singer belted the lyrics, adding some unique twists and having some fun throughout the entirety of the performance. Check out the clip below to watch!

The New York Country Swag 2019 Artist to Watch wraps up his album-release shows this week. Tenpenny heads to Luke Bryan’s ‘Crash my Playa’ country music festival in Mexico at the end of the month, just before beginning his opening-gig on Old Dominion ‘Make It Sweet Tour,’ at the end of February. Make sure to keep up with the breakthrough artist via his social media.

Riley Green Today Show

Riley Green Makes His National Television Debut on TODAY!

Earlier this morning, country music’s rising star and one of our 2019 Artists to Watch, Riley Green made his national television debut on NBC’s Today Show. He took the stage during the 10 AM hour with co-anchors, Hoda Kotb and Jenna B. Hagar, performing his debut single, “There Was This Girl” off his EP In A Truck Right Now.

Before performing his infectious chart-climbing single, Hoda and Jenna came to the stage to introduce and talk to the singer-songwriter. When chatting with Green, Hoda mentioned, “First of all can we just say this is your national television debut and we are honored and Riley, when your career goes through the roof, please let’s remember we were all here together on this day!” With Hoda continuing by saying, “How does this ascent feel? I mean all of a sudden people are saying your name and singing your songs.” Green replying, “I don’t think I really fathom it too much you know, it was really fortunate I was able to play the Grand Ole Opry for the first time this year and so my grandparents think I’m famous now but I mean playing the Today Show I feel like I’m kind of starting to believe it a little bit, it’s a pretty big deal.”

After the quick interview, it was the moment country music fans were waiting for. Green kicked off the year, giving viewers at home an upbeat and energized performance to remember. For viewers who did not know who Riley Green was before, they sure do now. Throughout the performance, Green’s infectious smile didn’t leave his face.  At the end of the song, the studio erupted in cheers, while Hoda and Jenna came back on stage clapping and cheering, “Yes Yes Yes,” excitedly calling his performance outstanding, making it a moment to never forget.  Check out our own live performance with Riley Green from our Swag Session below.

Country music’s ‘King of Christmas’, Brett Eldredge continued to spread holiday cheer in New York City earlier this morning on NBC’s TODAY show. The platinum-selling artist performed two holiday songs from the deluxe version of his Christmas record Glow. Eldredge gave viewers at home a taste of what he showcased to fans on his ‘Glow: Live’ tour earlier this week at the Beacon Theater.

The country superstar collected toys from fans for TODAY’s toy drive on Rockefeller Plaza before joining co-anchor Hoda Kotb in studio 1A for his first performance, with his rendition of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” Kotb questioned Eldredge about what Christmas time means to him, he replied, “I’ve dreamt of this for a long time to get to do this, it’s my third year into the Glow record and now it’s deluxe, it gives me more reason to show up in New York at the most magical time of the year, it’s amazing.” Backed by an 8-piece orchestra, Eldredge stunned with his classic vocals. Watch the full performance here.

The singer-songwriter returned in the 10 a.m. hour with co-anchors Kathie Lee Gifford and Kotb to discuss Glow (Deluxe) and the artists that affected him growing up. Eldredge shared, “Frank (Sinatra) and Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole, I mean just the greats, the classics. And when I was going to record this record, I wanted it to feel like it was recorded in that time and just feel classic.” The three revisited the first time Eldredge visited TODAY and how nervously sweet he was. Kotb and Gifford complemented the country star on remaining the same kind person, in which Eldredge promised he would never change. He then shared his holiday plans with his family and how they used to make him sing “O Holy Night” at Christmas, he jokingly tells them now he plays it on the ‘Glow: Live’ tour so he could sit down and enjoy the holiday.

Eldredge closed out the morning show with his original Christmas tune and the album’s title track, “Glow.” Watch the full performance here.

The singer will wrap up his five dates ‘Glow Live’ tour run this weekend with two sold-out shows at CMA Theatre in Nashville, Tennessee. The King of Christmas will also perform on Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade which will air Tuesday, December 25th on ABC from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. eastern standard time.

Rising country star, Jimmie Allen has been going non-stop since the October release of his debut album Mercury Lane. The record garnered the singer-songwriter a top spot on the ‘Billboard’s Country Album’ chart, and his debut single, “Best Shot” broke the Top 5 , and is currently sitting at number 3 on Country Airplay. Allen performed the song live, for Hoda and Kathie Lee on TODAY, during his national TV debut, last month, and is back again this time as a co-host.

The entertainer gushed about his co-hosting gig sharing “It’s such an incredible honor to join TODAY as a co-host. I am pinching myself right now just to make sure this is real life.” Allen joined the women for an hour-long segment, to discuss a variety of topics, from learning manners from Thomas Farley, taking a look back on the last 30 plus years of PEOPLE’s “Sexiest Man Alive”, and of course, sampling a few Fall wines with some wine experts.

One of the more relatable moments in the hour segment came when the co-hosts discussed dating and dating apps with the artist. The singer revealed that he prefers the old school way of meeting girls, and even that he met a girl recently. Allen shared, “The thing that I like about it [dating apps] is if your kinda shy, it’s cool, but I miss- I’m very old school. I miss the initial, conversation, feeling the person’s vibe, in person. Everyone does the dating apps- I support them, but I’m more of the, I want to meet you…A lot of people meet girls at bars, I like meeting girls when they’re not expecting, like catching them at Whole Foods.” Check out the hilarious clip here.

Allen gets even more personal with Hoda and Kathie Lee, when the ladies take a look inside the singer’s phone, naming the game, ‘Celebrity Swipe.’ The ladies learn that the entertainer’s favorite emoji is the lightning bolt and the “hang loose” hand symbol, and additionally, press the singer to find out what the last text he sent was, all featured in this clip from the interaction.

Next up for the rising star, he will embark on Scotty McCreery’s ‘Seasons Change Tour,’ beginning in Dallas, Texas, after Thanksgiving. Allen will also serve as support on select dates of Kane Brown’s 2019 ‘Live Forever Tour.’ Head to jimmieallenmusic.com for tickets and more information, and don’t forget to catch the singer on TODAY, again, on November 29th for a panel segment of “Guys Tell All.”
