Teddy Robb Reminiscences in New Track “Heaven On Dirt”

Teddy Robb Heaven on Dirt

Teddy Robb is a country newcomer who is wrestling in conventional country offerings. Featured in one of our NYCS Swag Sessions and NYCountry Swag Country Brunch alumni, the Akron, Ohio native has released a new nostalgic single “Heaven On Dirt.”

“Heaven On Dirt” looks back at all of Robb’s sentimental memories growing up in the heart of the country and the little things that made life super special and still continues to offer him comfort. The song opens up with a twangy, catchy guitar line and light percussion. He pays tribute to his father in the first verse and his rebellious years. The second verse is a tribute to his first love, good friends, and his first car. He makes an interesting revelation: sometimes you don’t realize how good you have it until you don’t but in a good, cherishable way. He sings, “The beer was cold, the trucks were old, the dust was gold…It was heaven on dirt”

Robb shared a glimpse of this on his Instagram page sharing a golden photo of the singer + songwriter as a child, posed with a hunting prize, and a Father’s Day post with his father.

Keep up with Teddy Robb on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

“Heaven On Dirt” is now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released music here on our “New Country Music” playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.

Who Is Teddy Robb? The Story Behind His Journey to Country Music

Who is Teddy Robb? The singer-songwriter joined us to chat about his journey to country music. Get to know the rising star here…

Teddy Robb EP

The Beginning:

Since we named Teddy Robb one of our 2019 Artists To Watch and featured him as a Swag Spotlight back in 2018, it seems he has blossomed into a rising star just before our eyes. Over the last couple of years, Robb has garnered a fanbase of loyal fans and continues to gain more and more momentum. Today, he released his highly anticipated self-titled debut EP.

Although the record features four previously released songs and only one new track, the EP is the perfect mix of songs to personify Robb’s talent, charisma, and personality. Beginning with the newest released single, “Me On You,” the country crooner sings about the power of love and its similarity to an addiction. The ambiguity within the lyrics is both enticing and captivating, everything a good song should be. The consistent drums only add to the stylized track.

The Turning Point:

Robb continues to showcase his brand of country music with a new track entitled “Good Love and Good Whiskey.” The flirtatious song is the perfect addition to the singer’s catalog. Robb compares good love to good alcohol in the new song. The feel-good track is begging for a catchy and clever music video to accompany it.

What kinda fool leaves his top-shelf sitting on ice / Watch 90 proof lose its smooth / Baby that just ain’t right / Same kinda guy who brings his girl to the bar with guys like me around / Who knows good love and good whiskey ain’t good watered down”

Today:

Of course, the self-titled project also features the songs that put Robb on the map, including “Lead Me On,” “Tell Me How,” and “Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You.” The first is arguably one of the best on the project. “Lead Me On,” his debut single, is a song about a clever narrative in that push-pull type of relationship. Despite the repercussions, the gravitational pull is too strong to deny. In the same vein, “Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You” admits that drinking around an ex is not the best idea, but remains weak to that notion. Written by top wordsmiths, Shane McAnally, Trevor Rosen, and Joshua Osborne, the song is definitely a standout track.

You say that we can be friends / But, hey, let’s be honest / There ain’t really no such thing / As gin and platonic”

On the other hand, “Tell Me How” is the lone, somber ballad off the project. A necessary departure from the other tunes, Robb lays his heart out on the line for fans, with his vocals, and with his songwriting. The break-up track explains how difficult coping with heartache can be, as Robb begs an ex to show him how to get over her. This song proves that the singer shines just as bright on emotive and intricate songs, and we hope for more songs like this one on a future full-length project.

Teddy Robb Releases Brand New Track, “Me On You”

Teddy Robb, a NYCountry Swag  2019 Artist to Watch, dropped his latest track “Me on You” following his previous releases “Tell Me How”“Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You” and his debut song, “Lead Me On”. In the midst of these funky, uncertain times right now, new music from the rising star is perhaps exactly what country music fans need.

Written by Ryan Beaver and Deric Ruttan, the singer-songwriter opens the track painting a picture of what looks like a bothered soul in a dark place causing some small-town speculation as to what could be going on. As the verse builds, listeners come to learn Robb is not speaking of a specific drug, but the power of love.

“This up all night // Ain’t a habit I’m tryin’ to kick // I may be high //
but it ain’t like what they think // all this need a hit, can’t quit, lookin’ for the next fix //
fool I’ve turned into // That’s just me, girl // Me On You”

Back in October 2019, the Akron, Ohio native joined NYCountry Swag for a Country Brunch at IGC Hospitality’s The Boogie Room located inside the Mondrian Park Avenue Hotel. Singing some songs and stellar covers, Robb kept the New York country music fans entertained all afternoon long. Check out some clips from the awesome time below.

Additionally, Robb was featured in one of our NYCS Swag Sessions where he played his then single “Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You” and also premiered glimpses of a few other songs. Check it out in the video below.

Teddy Robb Re-Releases “Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You” with Meghan Patrick

Teddy Robb Really Shouldn't Drink Around You

One of our 2019 Artists to Watch, Teddy Robb re-imagined his clever second single “Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You.” Canadian country artist, Meghan Patrick lent her vocals to the track, showcasing it in a new light and how well the song works as a duet.

Although it may not come off this way at first, “Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You” is a love song at its core. Having Patrick trade verses with Robb through the new version of the song is the perfect way to express the romantic side of the track. According to Robb, the addition of her vocals made him “fall in love with it all over again.”

Written by hitmakers, Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne, and Old Dominion’s Trevor Rosen, “Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You” is full of clever innuendos, wordplay, and raw honesty. Both Robb and Patrick’s voices blend together perfectly, upping the ante on the already captivating song.

“I really shouldn’t drink around you / It’s a risk, it’s a gamble / Little more than I can handle / Just a touch of a buzz is enough to get me thinkin’ things / I really shouldn’t drink about you.”

We absolutely love Robb’s creativity and the hard work he puts into his music. The Monument Records recording artist recently sang his songs and some stellar covers at our Country Brunch last month. Check out some clips from the awesome time below! It will be exciting to see what the singer has in store for his fans next.

Teddy Robb Releases “Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You” Music Video

Teddy Robb is one of country’s newcomers and one of our 2019 Artists To Watch. We welcomed him this past weekend at our Country Bunch and are admiring his music video for his release “Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You”. A native of Akron, Ohio, Robb played football throughout college at Kent State before his world opened up after hearing George Strait’s “Troubadour.” He then packed his bags and headed to music city where he signed a publishing deal with SMACK and later signed with Monument Records.  Read more about his journey to Nashville in our Swag Spotlight here.

Written by hitmakers, Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne, and Old Dominion’s Trevor Rosen, the visual trails Robb meandering the countryside at the start before walking into an empty bar to meet up with a girl continuing their love story back in the scenic views. This rustic, homey assemblage of memories makes one want to embark on a similar expedition. The recording artist loves the outdoors, so it is no surprise that this video features some of the most beautiful shots of Colorado, the mountain ranges, and wide-open plains. The contrast from a dark dingey bar to the brilliant nature that surrounds the couple, adds to the already infectious song.

The song is a brutally honest depiction of alcohol cajoled love, in a fun way, but maybe not the wisest. Robb bids an admonition: “There ain’t really no such thing as a gin and platonic.” In time, things seem like a great idea until looking back from the future. Clever cliches and catchy play on words embellish the singer’s single paying homage to a vibe similar to Old Dominions’.

Teddy Robb Releases Music Video for “Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You”

Teddy Robb “Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You” Music Video

Songwriter, turned Sony Monument Records recording artist, Teddy Robb is proving why we chose him as one of our 2019 Artists to Watch. After finding success with his debut single “Lead Me On,” Robb further showed off his talent with his honest song “Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You”. The singer-songwriter premiered the official music video for the track everywhere Wednesday, April 25th.

Written by heavy hitting songwriters, Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne, and Trevor Rosen (Old Dominion), the song suggests that drinking around an ex-lover isn’t usually the best idea. The track is as relatable as it gets, featuring clever word play and catchy lyrics. Robb’s vocals give off a fresh and new sound, while feeling believable and charming all at the same time.

When Robb first released the song, he shared on his Twitter, “What I love about country music is the stories the songs tell & how they can take you to a certain place & time…” This is exactly what his song and music video does.

The music video showcases the singer-songwriter narrating with a guitar in hand, singing the cleverly strung together lyrics, “You say that we can be friends / But, hey let’s be honest / There ain’t really no such thing as gin and platonic.” The picturesque background and Robb’s sultry smile adds a little mystery to the visuals.

As the video progresses, the camera flashes to Robb and a love interest drinking, playing pool, cuddling around a fire, and eventually going home together, depicting things that happen when you drink around an old flame.

Check out the full-length video below, and look out for the ending.

Robb is slated to release more music this year with a brand new track dropping tomorrow, Friday, Arpil 26th. Make sure to check back here where we’ll keep you updated on the release. To learn more about the singer-songwriter, read our Swag Spotlight feature, as well as, head to teddyrobb.com for more information.
