Mickey Guyton Joins Lukas Graham on New Song “Home Movies”

Mickey Guyton and Lukas Graham join forces on brand new song, “Home Movies” out now, January 13th, on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new track below.

If you have not yet become a huge Mickey Guyton fan, what are you waiting for?! Guyton has one of the best voices in the country music genre, so much so that she is sought after across multiple genres. Today, Guyton joins forces with pop star, Lukas Graham on his brand new song “Home Movies.”

The reflective ballad is tinged with country music storytelling. Both Graham and Guyton bring their best vocals to the track, taking turns on the verses and harmonizing throughout the chorus. “Home Movies” is an incredible song that will have you feeling nostalgic after just one listen.

According to Graham, Guyton was a perfect collaborator. “Mickey’s vocals really make the lyrics that much better. Not to mention the outer harmonies on the last 3rd of the song!” he shared in a press release. “My favorite line is from the chorus “Everybody’s got a story no one knows” and that’s the truth. We all have our inglorious moments and obscure pasts to deal with and that’s what makes life so beautiful; when we manage to rise above the prejudice and make something unique of ourselves.”

While Guyton is working on her own music, fans of Graham can check out “Home Movies” and other songs on his umping album, 4 (The Pink Album).

Mickey Guyton: ‘Remember Her Name’ – Album Review

Mickey Guyton’s new album Remember Her Name is out now, September 24th on all streaming platforms. Read our full review and listen to the new music below.

For years, Mickey Guyton has been deservedly buzzed about within the country music industry. With a powerful gift and an even more powerful message, the golden voiced songstress has repeatedly been named “one to watch” and a “rising star.” However, over the last year, Guyton’s star has continued to ascend to a much deserved level, with a historic Grammy nomination and a performance and co-hosting gig at this year’s ACM Awards.

Today, September 24, the singer-songwriter released her full-length debut album, Remember Her Name, a sixteen song collection that serves to make listeners do just that. Guyton had a hand in writing fifteen of the album’s tracks, and each tells a different side of her story. “It’s crazy that the album is a story essentially,” says Guyton in a statement. “I was just writing and writing. I didn’t even know what the album meant or what it was going to be when I was writing these songs, I just started writing songs about my feelings.”

For the Capitol Nashville recording artist, Remember Her Name shows Guyton embracing everything she is, as opposed to everything Nashville thinks she should be. This theme weaves its way throughout the LP, shining through on songs like the peppy up-tempo “Different,” “Love My Hair,” and “Words.” On “Different,” she proclaims that it’s her differences that make her unique, “I love my skin // I love my hair // and if it bothers you // I really don’t care,” she assures us. “I’m just me // take it or leave // I’m just trying to be who I was born to be.” Meanwhile, on the vulnerable “Words,” she shows her softer side. “What can I say // I’m only human // Sticks and stones will never break my bones // But words still hurt me.”

It’s not all heavy themes on Remember Her Name with Guyton showing her country side on the likes of “All American,” her sexy side on “Dancing In the Living Room,” and her flirty side on “Rosé.” “All American” is the most typical “country” song on the album, celebrating the Texas native’s upbringing in “one big small town.” Meanwhile, “Rosé” is an ode to everyone’s favorite cheap wine. She’s not here to sing about whiskey or tequila, but on the fun track, she’s looking for something “pretty in pink,” reminding the listeners that “Everything is gonna look brighter // When you see it through rose colored glasses.”

One thing Mickey Guyton has never shied away from is tackling the tough subjects, whether that’s on social media or in song. This is most evident on songs such as “Black Like Me,” “Remember Her Name,” and “What Are You Gonna Tell Her?” Each tackles various subjects including social injustice and the adversity she’s faced as a black woman.

“I want people to feel loved and accepted and seen when they listen,” she reveals of her main goal for the album. “I know what it’s like to feel unseen and I want people that feel that way to hear this and say, ‘Man, that’s me.'”

For Mickey Guyton, Remember Her Name was a project a decade in the making, and it was certainly worth the wait.  The LP is the triumphant celebration of a woman who knows exactly who she is, and is proud to show it.

Mickey Guyton Releases Title Track “Remember Her Name” Ahead of Upcoming Album

Mickey Guyton’s new song, “Remember Her Name” is out now, July 30th, on all streaming platforms. The number serves as the title track to her upcoming album due out September 24th. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new tune.

Mickey Guyton is one of the most prolific artists in the country music genre right now. Poised, talented, and incredibly insightful, Guyton creates music that is straight from the heart. Ahead of her upcoming album, the songstress released the title track “Remember Her Name,” out now.

The song is the opening track off the new record. It is the ultimate reminder to people to remember who you are. It is an anthem for the lonely, the lost, and the persistent. According to Guyton, “‘Remember Her Name’ is a song for anyone who ever felt less than, forgotten, or up against obstacles. I hope this song is a reminder of the importance of self-worth and the power of persistence and perseverance.”

“Where did you lose the girl with no fear // Oh she never left // take a good look she’s right in the mirror // Don’t let yourself forget // Remember the fire // Remember the face // She felt the storm and danced out in the pouring rain // Remember her laughing // Through all the pain // Remember the girl that didn’t let anything get in her way // Remember her name”

Guyton embodies all of these characteristics as both a human and an artist. The track is relatable and powerful all at the same time. If this is any inclination of what the singer-songwriter has in store for fans, we are all in for a real treat with the full album.

Country Music Shines at 2021 GRAMMYs + Full List of Winners

The biggest stars in music gathered in Los Angeles last night for the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards. Hosted by Trevor Noah, the show had a much different look than previous years. Awards were given revealed outdoors, across the street from the Staples Center. Artists stayed socially-distant, sitting at tables with a maximum of two people and performances took place in a separate room nearby. Country music was well-represented at the award show with performances by Mickey Guyton, Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris with John Mayer, and more.

The first award of the night went to Megan Thee Stallion for Best New Artist – a category that featured country newcomer, Ingrid Andress — and Miranda Lambert took home the second, for Best Country Album with Wildcard. Jay Joyce, the producer of the album, contributed to two other albums in this category as well; Ashley McBryde’s Never Will and Brandy Clark’s Your Life is a Record. This award was introduced by JT Gray, owner of the small music venue in Nashville, Station Inn, as The award show made efforts to highlight small music venues throughout the country. Station Inn is home to early acts like Vince Gill, Chris Stapleton, and Dierks Bentley, who used to perform there before they made it big. For Lambert, this was her third GRAMMY-win and second in this category — Platinum won Best Country Album in 2015.

“We’re such a family here in country music, so I feel like holding this right here is like holding it for all of us; especially us girls,” Lambert confessed.

The GRAMMYs paid tribute to musicians of all genres who lost their lives this past year. Lionel Richie sang “Lady” in honor of the late Kenny Rodgers, and Brandi Carlile performed John Prine’s beautiful ballad “I Remember Everything,” which won Best American Roots Performance and Best American Roots Song earlier in the show. Charlie Daniels, Joe Diffie, and Mac Davis were also acknowledged, among many others.

Women dominated the country nominations this year, and their efforts in the industry were recognized last night with three consecutive performances by GRAMMY-nominated artists Mickey Guyton, Miranda Lambert, and Maren Morris. Guyton performed her inspiring narrative, “Black Like Me;” Lambert sang her number-one hit, “Bluebird,” and, alongside John Mayer, Morris performed her romantic cross-genre smash, “The Bones.”

The rest of the country awards were announced prior to the show, including Best Country Duo/Group Performance, which was given to Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber for “10,000 Hours;” Best Country Song, which went to The Highwomen for inclusion record “Crowded Table;” and Best Country Solo Performance, which Vince Gill won for his song “When My Amy Prays.” Dolly Parton picked up a GRAMMY award in the Christian category; her duet with Zach Williams, “There was Jesus,” won Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song.
