Today was a big day for talented Nashville vocalist, Maggie Rose, who made her national TV debut on NBC’s TODAY earlier this morning as part of the Citi Concert Series. The songstress released her impressive sophomore record Change The Whole Thing last September. Just two months later, we hosted a Swag Session with the singer-songwriter, where she sang two incredible songs off her album, including “Pull You Through.” For her national TV debut, Rose performed “It’s You,” an equally powerful song off her record.

During the third hour of the broadcast, co-anchors, Al Roker, Dylan Dreyer, and Craig Melvin welcomed Rose to the stage, as part of The Artist Lounge segment. The new segment spotlights some of our favorite singers as they perform stripped-down versions of their songs. Roker stated “We are so excited to have Maggie Rose in The Artist Lounge,” while Dreyer went on to share, “She recorded her latest album with a live 13 piece band!”

Just before performing her love song, “It’s You,” Melvin quickly introduced the track as a love song, while the talented artist agreed, sharing the sweet sentiment, “we’re all about love.” Looking equally as beautiful as her vocals sounded, Rose gave a killer performance of the track, truly evoking every emotion. Backed by a two-piece band and strapped with a guitar, she showed off her vocal range effortlessly, while conveying the lyrical story with so much poise and charisma. Everything about her performance was stunning and captivating.

Check out the clip below to see for yourself.

Rose continues to play shows across the United States, playing Nashville’s iconic Grand Ole Opry on April 16th alongside fellow country musicians, Montgomery Gentry, Dale Watson, Dustin Lynch, and Kelsea Ballerini. For tickets and more information, head to maggierosemusic.com

Swag Sessions: Featuring Maggie Rose

Maggie Rose, one of the most talented vocalists in Nashville stopped by New York Country Swag to perform a few songs before her headlining set at Rockwood Music Hall in downtown New York City. Her album Change The Whole Thing was released in September and she sang two songs from the album for our followers including the title track and the touching love song “Pull You Through”.

During the Q&A after her performance, Rose took time to discuss recording the album in just one take with her incredible band, the meaning behind “Pull You Through” and the viral moment when Karen Fairchild named her in her list of women in Nashville not being represented during her acceptance speech at the CMT Artists of the Year Event.

Watch the full Swag Session above and take a listen to Rose’s music below. For more music from artists we’ve featured during our LIVE Swag Sessions, check out our Sessions Playlist here and give it a follow for updates.

NYCS First Impression: Maggie Rose ‘Change The Whole Thing’

Maggie Rose "Change The Whole Thing"

Maggie Rose “Change The Whole Thing”

Singer-songwriter Maggie Rose released her highly anticipated album, Change The Whole Thing today (Sept. 21).

Standing proud in her edgy album artwork, she strays away from the average country music front image. Her black and silver sparkle top infused with matching eyeshadow and backdrop set the mood for the entire album. Stamped with her affinity for finely crafted melodies, a blend of sounds, and complex storytelling, the project includes a variety of all types of music including American music melding Rock, Soul, Rhythm and Blues, Country and Gospel. While the album encompasses a plethora of sounds, they all come together very cohesively for an unforgettable group of songs.

Having being told there is something about her voice live, Rose set out to find out what exactly that was. The powerhouse vocalist nailed it down and recorded the songs for her newest project live in one take with her 13-piece “family band” at Starstruck Studios in Nashville, TN. “No one puts albums out like this” Rose said in her video for the album. To have a full live set of songs is something unique nowadays. The full-length LP features 12 songs, 12 live music videos, a 60-minute documentary.

The title track of the album “Change The Whole Thing” is about watching someone put their heart through hell although the song’s lyrics have a meaning as well. Listeners can embrace the chorus in the context of changing the world around them a little at a time.

The world wasn’t broken in a day/ It ain’t gotta stay this way forever/
But you ain’t got to change the whole damn thing/ You just have to leave it a little better /

Between her song “Do Right By My Love”, the first track off the album that has a bluesy feel, and “Hey Blondie”, with a Footloose vibe, the album gives fans a variety of beats to jam along to. The most diverse song on the album, “Smooth”, offers fans a rhythm and blues theme that transports you back to old New Orleans.

Maggie Rose just embarked on her “Change the Whole Thing” tour and will play shows through December. New Yorkers can see her on tour November 19th at Rockwood Music Hall. For additional tour dates and more information, visit maggierosemusic.com
