Morgan Wallen Surprises Fans with Performance at Nashville Bar

Morgan Wallen surprised fans with a pop-up performance at Kid Rock’s Honky Tonk Bar in Nashville last night, Wednesday, May 19th.

Nashville natives and tourists alike were in for a big surprise last night (May 19) when not only was Kid Rock in the building at his very own Nashville bar, Kid Rock’s Big Honky Tonk & Steakhouse, but he was also joined by country music superstar, Morgan Wallen.

It has been nearly 4 months since Wallen left the spotlight due to the racial slur controversy. Wallen has been keeping quiet in the weeks since the incident, only popping up on social media here and there and just a few weeks ago issuing a personal letter penned to his fans.

Last night, Wallen jumped on stage at the popular establishment and surprised fans with a two-song set, marking his first public performance in months. First up, he played “Wasted On You” from his record-breaking album, Dangerous: The Double Album, followed by his number one hit, “Whiskey Glasses.”

Check out some of the videos and pictures captured by fans during the surprise performance below.

Hip-hop and rap fans woke up thrilled to find that superstar, Lil Wayne’s long anticipated album, Carter V had been released after years of lawsuits, legal issues and missed release dates.

The 23-track record is everything lifelong fans of the rap king have been waiting for, but the 14th song on the album, “Hittas” adds a reference to be noted in the country music world. The single opens with David Letterman asking Wayne, “Is it true you performed with Willie Nelson at the Country Music Awards?” before going into the song.

The question brings us back to 2008 where rapper Lil Wayne joined then rock artist, Kid Rock on stage in a surprise appearance at the Country Music Association Awards. Hitting the Nashville stage decked In a Tennessee Titans football jersey, the rapper strummed a guitar while Kid Rock performed his hit single “All Summer Long”.

Months later, in an interview with Genius, Lil Wayne shared that he didn’t actually know how to play the guitar, but lucky for him country legend Willie Nelson was nearby. The icon taught Wayne the most important chords just moments before the curtains went up. Check out Wayne’s hilarious story of his encounter with Nelson in the video below.

The CMA Awards – one of the biggest nights in country music – have not always been all about country artists. In the past there have been several not-so-country stars who having gotten there share of the stage during this prestigious night, including acts like Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Justin Timberlake, Meghan Trainor, Pink, Niall Horan, and more.

With the 2018 CMA Awards just a little over a month away, we wonder what surprise artists will we see make an appearance this year?

Friday night (Mar. 9) the tri-state area headed to New Jersey’s Prudential Center to attend Kid Rock‘s “American Rock n Roll Tour”.   His career, which now spans over twenty years, has garnered hits that make him the ultimate crossover artist.  During his set Friday night, he performed songs from those two decades including the opener, “Greatest Show on Earth” from his latest album Sweet Southern Sugar as well as “Cowboy” and “Only God Knows Why” from his 1998 smash album Devil Without a Cause. Check out our clip before for a crowd favorite, “All Summer Long”.

The high energy show featured plenty of lasers, pyrotechnics, and dancers, as Kid Rock ran from one side of the stage to the other his die-hard fans sang along to each song on the setlist. Closing out the night with his infamous “Bawitdaba” watching the rockers stamina after so many years performing was truly inspiring.

By alternating between his hip-hop roots, his rock n roll swagger and even adding in some of his country twang, Kid Rock proved he can blur the lines between genre and has found a way to do it all with a style all his own.
