Jillian Jacqueline’s Aching “If I Were You” Video

Jillian Jacqueline, Big Loud Records latest rising star, is bringing her honest track “If I Were You”, featuring Keith Urban, to life today with a brand new music video. The single details the emotional conflict following a breakup and the attempt to move on. Jacqueline is continuing to take the music scene by storm with her effortlessly raw vocals and new-school, no-holds-barred storytelling.

“Hate how he’s still got me / Blame it on bad timing / You shouldn’t come so close / When you’re looking at me like that,”  sings Jacqueline and Urban in harmony.  Directed by Patrick Tracy, the clip features Jacqueline looking effortlessly chic in a room of retro furniture, restlessly pacing in front of a signature lightning bolt. The added film-type filter on the video gives it that extra vibey look.

Spotlighting the track and “up-and-coming Jacqueline holding her own in the presence of a chart-topping superstar,” Rolling Stone named “If I Were You” one of the “10 Best Country and Americana Songs of the Week.”  Buzz continues to build around the heartbreak tune and Jacqueline, who was not only named NYCountry Swag’s 18 Artists to Watch in 2018 back in January but was also one of our first Swag Spotlights.

Surpassing one million overall streams, “If I Were You” is the first look at Jacqueline’s forthcoming EP SIDE B. The follow-up to 2017’s SIDE A will also feature the just-released song “Sad Girls” and four additional new tracks. Taking her career to the next level with SIDE B, Jacqueline is already on the map as a Billboard Chartbreaker, one of CMT’s Next Women of Country and “18 for 2018”, and Vevo’s first-ever Country Discover Artist to Watch. She is also being deemed one of the genre’s most promising new talents by Pandora, Amazon Music, Rolling Stone, AXS, Sounds Like Nashville, Whiskey Riff and more.

Jacqueline hits the road as a special guest on Kip Moore’s AFTER THE SUNBURN TOUR beginning September 28 in Birmingham, AL. You can get tickets here on her website and follow her on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Brett Eldredge’s ‘The Long Way Tour’ Hits NYC with Devin Dawson & Jillian Jacqueline…

“…I didn’t really care where else we went, all I knew is I wanted to end in New York City” Brett Eldredge tells his adoring fans who spent the entire concert on their feet at Hammerstein Ballroom.  The last stop on The Long Way Tour just happened to be right here in our favorite city in the world.  Prior to the evening show, Eldredge along with his supporting acts, Devin Dawson and Jillian Jacqueline stopped by Nash FM Hackensack Meridian Health Stage 17 to perform a few songs, which Nash FM 94.7 DJ Jesse Addy cleverly titled “The Short Way Tour”.

Jacqueline was up first, performing her single “Reasons” and “Hate Me” giving fans a sneak peek of what they would hear later on during her opening set. “Life is weird sometimes, you can’t always choose the timing of things,” she explained to the Nash DJs about getting engaged and having her song “Reasons” which is a breakup song about a previous relationship head to country radio. She ended with a brand new song that she wrote called “Tragic” about making it through tough times and not taking herself too seriously.

Devin Dawson was up next to preview his set for The Long Way Tour. Dawson sang “I Don’t Care Who Sees”, “Asking For a Friend” which just happens to be his next radio single and his breakout single, “All On Me”. “This is one of the funnest tours I’ve ever been on, I’m sad to say this is the last night of it, but we are going to leave it all out on the floor for you guys tonight,” he told the in-studio audience.

Brett Eldredge took the stage lastly, but not before running up and down the aisle high fiving all of the fans who spent their Saturday at Hackensack Meridian Health Stage 17.  He answered some questions from Facebook Live, including a shout-out to his mom who was watching live as well. He took a seat on a stool and grabbed his guitar to sing an intimate acoustic version of “Mean to Me” as well as “Wanna Be That Song” before handing out a pair of coveted tickets to that night’s show to a lucky audience member.

Fast forwarding a few hours, The Long Way Tour had its final run at The Hammerstein Ballroom in midtown Manhattan. Jillian Jacqueline and Devin Dawson once again acted as the supporting artists.   Jacqueline sang songs from her EP including “Bleachers”, “Hate Me” and “Reasons”.  Devin Dawson then took the stage to perform songs off his debut album Dark Horse including “War Paint”, “Symptoms”, “Prison” and of course his first single “All On Me”.  The audience was so loud singing back the words, Dawson was taken back and finally got emotional when the packed room of three floors was lit up with flashlights for his finale, “Dark Horse”.  After watching the swaying lights dance in the darkness, Dawson said: “New York City, I’ve never cried on stage before, this is a night I will never forget”.

Brett Eldredge's 'The Long Way Tour' Hits NYC with Devin Dawson and Jillian Jacqueline...

Eldredge who had saved most of his energy for this last night of the tour, took the sold-out room by storm, singing all of his hits, including “The Reason”, “Something I’m Good At”, “Lose My Mind” and “Don’t Ya”.  Pausing to slow things down a bit, the crew brought out a full-size bed, Eldredge put on a “Bed Head Jamz” zip-up sweatshirt and had his dog Edgar on stage with him to perform a live version of the Instagram famous “Bed Head Jamz”.  The audience sang along with him to “You Are My Sunshine” and then performed “Raymond” one of the first songs he had ever released which is about his grandma.

He invited back to the stage his opening acts to join him in singing Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” then ended the night of incredible music with “Cast Away” and “Drunk on Your Love”.  The Long Way Tour closed out its Spring run with a sold-out New York City show and the three levels of fans will agree it was a night to remember.

Swag Spotlight: Jillian Jacqueline

Jillian Jacqueline

New York Country Swag 2018 Artist to Watch and our next Swag Spotlight, Jillian Jacqueline, grew up in Pennslyvania where she found herself the odd one out, listening to country music.  Her mother who was from South Carolina only listened to country music and CMT was the only television station they would watch, she recalled during our recent interview.

From a young age, music was important to Jacqueline and her entire family.  Her sisters were in a family band that sang at weddings and festivals. They covered everything from The Beatles and Carol King to James Taylor and The Eagles, rounding out her childhood influences. Moving to New York City with her family when she was thirteen, her musical palette expanded. Throughout her teenage years she was a fan of punk rock bands such as Third Eye Blind and All American Rejects.  “That heavily shaped my melodic sense on top of the country music that I grew up on. Now what I do is sort of a melting pot of all of those different influences. As it is with a lot of artists, I feel like it is the roots of what you grew up on and then the music you got into in your teen college years, that all meshes together.” she tells us.

Jillian Jacqueline was signed to Big Loud Records in March of 2017, she released her first project for the record label, Side A back in September. The project as a whole is in one word, vulnerable.  Showcasing her songwriting skills and unique take on the country genre, Side A has a little something for all fans and is completely relatable. The lead single from the EP is “Reasons” and has racked up over 12 million spins on Spotify since it was released.  The song was written after Jacqueline decided to tap into her emotions and use her songwriting sessions as therapy after a tough breakup.  “It turned out to be some of the most honest stuff I have ever written,” she explained.  Just a week ago, she made her late night TV debut on Seth Meyers to sing “Reasons.” Check out the video below.

Each song highlights a personal detail of her life, which has prompted fans to reach out and explain how the songs have helped them.  “I like to say it was sort of like jumping off a cliff naked, releasing these songs, it was so true to life,” she laughed.  Proud of the human connection she has created, she says, “That’s why we are here”.  When she recorded the songs for Side A, she explained she had seven more songs that she recorded as well, so hopefully, in 2018 she will release her first full-length album.

Jacqueline hits the road this summer with opening slots on two of the hottest tours this year, Thomas Rhett’s Life Changes Tour and Brett Eldredge’s The Long Way Tour.  She will also be joined by another one of our NYCS 2018 Artists to Watch, Jordan Davis on The White Wine and Whiskey Tour.
