Filmore Releases Brand New Heartwarming Track “We’ll Be”

Filmore released a brand new track, “We’ll Be” available now, June 11th, on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new music.

Singer-songwriter Filmore continues to release music that we just cannot get enough of. The steady stream of releases that the singer drops continues to excite music fans everywhere.  Most recently the singer dropped an instant bop, “Who Cares.” Today, he released a heartwarming track called “We’ll Be.”

Co-written by Filmore with fellow artist Mitchell Tenpenny and songwriter Michael Whitworth, the new song is a beautiful love song. Filmore showcases his more vulnerable side on this track. “We’ll Be” is actually the song that the singer asked his now-wife to marry him with last year. How romantic is that?!

“Well be sitting on our porch swing // Thinking ‘bout nothing, but pouring another sweet tea // We’ll be laying on our king size // Watching that sunrise sneak in, like it’s got a spare key // Bare feet backyard running // Grow old, but stay young loving // If we’re this good right now, can’t wait to see // What we’ll be”

It is just the beginning for Filmore and his blossoming career. With each and every song released, he continues to grow his fanbase exponentially. His signature pop-country sound is innovative, and we cannot wait to see his star continue to rise.

Singer-songwriter Filmore continues to release music that we just cannot get enough of. The steady stream of releases that the singer drops continues to excite music fans everywhere. Filmore’s latest release is a fun-loving song called “Who Cares.”

Co-written by Filmore with Zach Abend and fellow singer-songwriter, Josh Kerr, “Who Cares” follows previous releases “Used To Be” and “Good Thing.” The new jam is all about following your gut and bringing out your confident side. The singer is unapologetically himself usually, but it is especially apparent in this brand new tune.

“Who cares if the whole world knows // We drink too much and we dance too close // Your lips on mine // And we lose all track of time // Who cares when the lights come on // When we leave, we don’t leave alone // If you don’t, I don’t so // So, who cares”

According to the singer in a recent press release, “’Who Cares’ is about [his] time in college and in Nashville and dating and meeting people during that time in life and not caring what people thought about us being together,” adding later, “The song is about taking a stance, and at the end of the day, all that matters are the two people in that relationship.”

Filmore Questions A Break-Up In New Song “Good Thing”

Filmore’s new song, “Good Thing” is available now, March 19th on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

Singer-songwriter, Filmore just released his massive, 18-track, debut album, State I’m In back in September and now he’s already back with brand new music with the release of “Good Thing”.

In this pop-country post-break-up song, the subject reminisces on an old relationship and starts to question and possibly regret ending things. He wishes he knew how great he had it when he was with this girl.

“We had a good thing, baby // we had an almost maybe // we had forever, in our hearts, from the start // but sometimes ‘meant to be’ falls apart”

Filmore had a hand in writing the track along with co-writers Zach Abend and Geoff Warburton.

Breakups were the focal point of Filmore’s latest album, and he continues to tell his story through this new track. “Good Thing” will likely be the lead single to an upcoming EP.

Here is Filmore’s Debut Album, ‘State I’m In’

Filmore’s debut album State I’m In is out now. Check out our full First Impression Review of the project and give it a listen below.

Filmore State I'm In

Today marks the day that one of our favorite artists, Filmore drops his debut album State I’m In. The singer-songwriter burst onto the mainstream scene in 2018, and since then, he has mesmerized fans and is taking the music industry by storm. He also found himself snagging a spot on our NYCS 2019 Artists to Watch list! If this 18-song record is any clue of what is in store, Filmore is sure to continue to be one to look out for.

“This album is a look into my life over the last few years. It’s the ups and downs in relationships, experiences from my hometown, life on the road, and living in Nashville,” the singer shares in a recent press release, “I wrote every song from a real and personal place with amazing writers and friends. My hope is that you can listen to the album from start to finish and know who Filmore is by the end.”

The singer’s sentiment perfectly embodies the record. The album features breakup songs that showcase different stages of a dissolution of a relationship and songs that explain how it feels to be so deeply in love with a person and with life. “London” and “Pictures On The Fridge” focus on the bittersweet nostalgia that comes from a breakup. The former takes us through all the places in London that the couple would have gone to together had they stayed together. The latter focuses on all the pictures that are no longer meaningful. Both songs are ironically upbeat for having a sad theme.

“Those 3x5s only remind me what I miss about you / You’re just a memory now, I still can’t take them down / It’s 3AM I’m lost again, damn these pictures on the fridge / These pictures on the fridge”

“Blue Skies,” “State I’m In,” and “Heart’s Having A Hard Time” focus on the emotions when you are in the thick of a breakup. All three songs convey an honest approach to music, as well as, to what we all feel as humans when we go through hard times. One of our favorites, “Heart’s Having A Hard Time” is especially poignant. It depicts the unique challenges of being the one to end the relationship, equally as painful in different ways.

“Yeah I know I made up my mind / But my heart / My heart’s having a hard”

Continuing to explore the same type of narrative, “W.I.L.D.” takes the idea of a broken relationship to a different level. The acronym, which stands for “when I lay down,” shines a light on the emotions that overtake us at night, when we go to bed and long for an ex-lover. Normalizing these feelings helps us all feel a little closer to the singer.

Of course, the record isn’t all break-up songs. Filmore gives us a power anthem on being single with “Nothing’s Better.” The brand new track reminds us of how good it feels to be confident in who you are.

Nothing’s better than us not together / ‘cause the best kind of me is me without you

Filmore’s debut album also fills our hearts with some promising love songs. “Love That About You,” “Me Lately,” and “Other Girl” depicts a different stage in a relationship. “Love That About You” is a complete jam about falling in love and appreciating all the little things about your significant other. “Me Lately,” tells the story about how the entertainer went through somewhat of metamorphosis when he finally found the love he was looking for. He sings about a special lady giving him the confidence to love himself, all because she loves and accepts him for who he is. Lastly, “Other Girl” is the song for when you realize you have found your forever.

Earlier this year, Filmore joined us a live swag session in New York City where he performed “Love That About You,” “Other Girl”, and “Slower,” before joining us for an interview. Check out the full video below.

Finally, to lace the whole record together, Filmore finds resolution and acceptance with songs like “Country Song,” “My Place,” and the concluding track, “Anyone But Me.” “Country Song” is the singer-songwriter’s ode to country music. It is the song that we can’t wait to hear live and sing along to. Similarly, “My Place” is another song made for the stage. Finally, “Anyone But Me” completes Filmore’s story for his debut album. He ends the record with an honest and truthful anecdote about how his life has changed for the good and for the bad over his nine-year journey in Nashville. The song is able to simultaneously wrap up a cohesive project and leave room for a second chapter in the next record.

Filmore explores the gamut of emotions throughout this record. Each of the eighteen tracks is clearly dosed with a whole lot of Filmore charm. From the lyrics to the production to the order of the tracks, State I’m In proves that Filmore is a talent like no other!

Who Is Alana Springsteen? The Story Behind Her Journey to Country Music

Who is Alana Springsteen? The singer-songwriter joined us to chat about her journey to country music. Get to know the rising star here…

Alana Springsteen

The Beginning:

This week our Swag Spotlight artist is the young, but extremely talented Alana Springsteen. She is a fiery pop-country singer-songwriter, who realized her passion for music at the tender age of 7 years old when she first picked up a guitar. Springsteen was destined to make music for a living and we chatted with the songstress about her blossoming career and her brand new music that we are sure fans will love.

“I’m originally from Virginia Beach, total beach girl,” she begins, “I grew up loving music from a super early age. My dad was always playing music around the house and stuff and both my grandads are pastors, so I grew up in church and I think that’s where my love of music started.” After learning to play guitar from her uncle at seven years old, Springsteen became obsessed with performing, singing the National Anthem across the country when she was just a child.

Around that time, the songstress starting writing her own music and found a love for country music. “I was inspired by a lot of strong, female country artists,” she shares with us,  “I listened to Carrie Underwood a ton growing up, Faith Hill, Shania Twain [and] Taylor Swift obviously was one that influenced me just because she was so young and doing it. Just watching her, I was like wow I can do this” Her musical taste has since expanded to the likes of artists like LANY, Sam Hunt, Ariana Grande, and Julia Michaels.

The Turning Point:

As fate would have it, Springsteen was recognized by a music industry executive during one of her anthem performances, and that experience introduced her to the world of Nashville. She signed her first publishing deal at just 14 years old, and soon after that, Springsteen and her supportive family made the big move to Music City.

Flash forward to today, the singer-songwriter finally feels like she has met her people in Nashville, and feels ready to share her music with the world. With a team of people who believe in her vision behind her, the songstress has already released a debut EP, which was well-received, as well as, an incredible cover of ILLENIUM and Jon Bellion’s “Good Things Fall Apart,” and her brand new song “Think About You,” a duet featuring fellow country artist Filmore.

In regards to the former, Springsteen decided to record the song because of how much she loved it. “As soon as it was released, it was my jam for the longest time,” she tells us about the original, adding, “I just started messing around with it- just a guitar, and once I stripped it down, I realized it could totally be a country song because it’s kinda just a story. There are so many word pictures, it kinda takes you on this journey.” Springsteen’s version is heartfelt, vulnerable, and most definitely personifies her vibe.

Today:

“Think About You,” an original, is just as creative and sincere. The song has received love by our home radio station New York’s Country 94.7, as well as, by fans. Interestingly enough, during the writing process, Springsteen did not plan to make this song into a duet, but during the recording process, she was hit with inspiration and asked Filmore to be apart of it. As she shared the story behind the song, the songstress surprised us with an anecdote about how she and Filmore became connected in the first place.

“My dad actually drives for Lyft on the side,” she begins, “He would play [my demos] on loop, while he was driving these people around, he wouldn’t say anything about it, he would just kinda wait for them to notice.” That is exactly what happened one day when her dad picked up Filmore and his friends unexpectedly. Springsteen calls the whole whirlwind experience from that moment until the pair cut the single “an absolute dream.” Not to mention, the song is incredible.

This is just the start for Springsteen, as she is sure to deliver more and more music this year. She has spent years honing her craft and is ready to share her stories and experiences with the world. Before this year is up, she is sure to release more covers and maybe more originals, and of course, as soon as it is safe, she hopes to get a chance to tour again. Until then, make sure to keep this rising talent on your radar!

NYCS Artist to Watch Filmore Releases “Me Lately”

Filmore Me Lately

Last Saturday (3/28) we hosted our first ever virtual Country Brunch over on our Instagram page with a few of our favorite artists. One of those artists that performed just to happened to be the incredible Filmore. We named him one of our 2019 Artists to Watch, and he continues to prove us right with each and every song released. Most recently the singer-songwriter premiered a personal track entitled “Me Lately.”

Each of Filmore’s songs has been different, yet featured intricate songwriting and rhythm you just cannot help, but to bop to. “Me Lately” checks both boxes. The new song tells the story about how the entertainer went through somewhat of a metamorphosis when he finally found the love he was looking for. He sings about a special lady giving him the confidence to love himself, all because she loves and accepts him for who he is.

Despite this incredible message, the first verse of the song is the standout. Filmore honestly shares his inner demons, singing lyrics like “Broke some hearts and let some bridges burn” and “Me and myself weren’t always on good terms.” The song is an anthem for a love that happens with the right person at the right time. All the stars align for Filmore in this song, and we think they will in his career too.

To learn more about Filmore, check out our Swag Session with the entertainer from earlier this year below, as well as, our review of his performance when he opened up for Lauren Alaina in New York City. If you have the chance, make sure you get your tickets to a Filmore show!

Filmore Is Over “Blue Skies” In His Latest Breakup Tune

Filmore Blue Skies

One of the artists we are most excited about this year, Filmore, keeps absolutely crushing it with each and every new release. The talented newcomer has taken the country world by storm, winning over fan after fan with his undeniable charm, stage presence, and catchy, but fresh singles. Most recently, the singer-songwriter premiered arguably his most vulnerable cut to date entitled “Blue Skies.”

Although we fell in love with Filmore’s talent because of his high-energy set at the Lauren Alaina concert last month, getting to hear the singer’s softer side is equally as enticing. “Blue Skies” is the singer’s take on a break-up song. Keeping with his notable swagger, he sings about not wanting to leave the house because of the heartbreak. Moreover, he admits that dealing with a break-up in the sunshine, “blue skies” is even more difficult.

“So I just stay in, avoid my friends / Wait around ’til the clouds roll in / This heartbreak’s worse when it’s nice outside / Damn I hate summertime / I’m so tired of blue skies / Nothing to hide that goodbye / It hurts a little more in the sunshine”

Despite the melancholy nature of the lyrics, Filmore somehow manages to deliver an absolute anthem for heartbreak and break-ups. The song is relatable, but better yet, the rising artist makes you want to sing the lyrics at the top of your lungs, while your hiding in your bed, waiting for the sunshine to disappear. Kudos to Filmore for continuing to show fans exactly who he is and keeping his artistry consistent, endearing, and authentic.

Filmore Takes You Home with New Single “My Place”

Filmore My Place

Our most recent Swag Session artist, Filmore continues to surprise fans with different sides of his personality, releasing songs that showcase his undeniable talent and charm. Today, the singer-songwriter adds “My Place” to his impressive collection of recently released music.

The new jam is an upbeat, fun-loving track that holds a special place in Filmore’s heart. In our interview, he shared that the song came to fruition when he moved into a house with a bunch of his friends. The songwriting process began by just naming things around the eclectic house, but what it turned into was a cool, honest, and relatable song.

“You can park on the front long / That grass is a good as gone / Leave it there as long as you wanna stay / My place is your place”

To allow fans to get to know him even more, Filmore shot the music video for the song in the actual house he is describing in the lyrics. The video is cleverly shot like an episode of ‘MTV Cribs,” and has a way of making viewers feel a part of the fun. It’s clear that the singer wants his fans to know the real him, and inviting them into his home is just one way of showing it.

Filmore’s swagger and authenticity shines through in all his music but is especially noticeable in his live shows. We caught the singer’s opening act, when Lauren Alaina’s tour stopped in New York City earlier this week. We were blown away by his raw talent and incredible showmanship. This is only the beginning for Filmore, and we are excited to continue to champion his one of a kind talent.

Lauren Alaina Takes NYC on a Journey with her Sold-Out Headlining Tour

It’s been almost a decade since Lauren Alaina auditioned and made it to the finale of the tenth season of American Idol. Her bubbly personality, powerhouse voice, and true southern charm won over the nation and since then she has released two albums, written countless songs and connected with her growing fan base in an authentic way.

For the first time, Alaina has set out on a headlining tour and has sold out the first seven shows, including a show last night at Bowery Ballroom in New York City with direct support, Filmore.

Filmore

Filmore, who hails from Missouri, brought his unique brand of country music to an already packed room playing some of the most recent songs he has released including “London”, “State I’m In”, and “Heart’s Having A Hard Time”. He exuded energy, and an undeniable swagger as he danced around the stage. Several times throughout the night, the singer-songwriter paused to explain how grateful he was to be back in New York, having opened for Dan + Shay and Carrie Underwood back in 2018.

One of the most energetic parts of the night was when he covered The Killers’ smash, “Mr. Brightside” asking the entire audience to jump along with him. We always see an incredible response when artists come up to the Big Apple and choose a cover song outside of the country genre and tonight was no different. He thoughtfully explained the songwriting and stories behind each song throughout his set, definitely garnering a ton of new fans that may not have seen his live show before. He closed the set with “Slower”, his breakout hit from 2018.

Lauren Alaina Tour

The ‘That Girl Was Me Tour’ truly took the fans on a journey of Lauren Alaina’s entire career and with the help of a giant screen that played behind her, the packed house at Bowery Ballroom were treated to home movies, music videos and beautiful visuals to accompany her throughout the night. Alaina took it back to her debut album, and her time on American Idol to start off the set with “Barefoot and Buckwild”, “Georgia Peaches”, and “Like My Mother Does”. Video clips with voiceovers helped flow each segment of the night, Alaina being encouraging about hard times and helping to show her growth as a human and a performer in Nashville.

She performed her current single, “Getting Good” which is another honest song about trying to slow time down and stay in the present without looking ahead to the next achievement as well as a brand new song that will be released on her next EP on March 6th, “Somebody Else’s Problem”. The most touching, and inspiring moment of the night came when Alaina paused her show to pay tribute to her late stepdad, Sam, telling the story of how he saw heaven moments before he passed away. Struggling to get through the song “The Other Side” without the emotion completely taking over, the songwriter performed with an indisputable grace.

She welcomed Filmore back to the stage to help her perform Hardy’s current single, one of NYCountry Swag’s favorite songs, “One Beer” which she is featured on along with Devin Dawson. Before performing “My Kinda People”, she took time to explain that although her dreams from when she was a young girl revolved around singing and traveling the world, that as she has garnered success over the past decade, she wanted to make sure to find a way to give back, and so she has started the ‘My Kinda People charity’. To find out more, head to laurenalainaofficial.com.

Lauren Alaina Filmore

After a brief pause, she returned to the stage to sing an encore of “Three” and her very first number one single “Road Less Traveled”. The entire sold-out crowd lifted their flashlights in the air as they waved their hands and sang along, it became utterly apparent that every misstep, every tragedy, and every high point in her life has brought her to the beauty of hearing your powerful words sung back to you.

If the ‘That Girl Was Me Tour’ is coming to a city near you, run, don’t walk. You will feel every emotion, you will feel community alongside strangers and the power of music will surround you throughout the night.
