Jimmie Allen Drops ‘Best Shot The Remixes’ EP

Jimmie Allen The Remixes

One of our favorite Artists to Watch, Jimmie Allen, just released a project like no one ever has. ‘Best Shot The Remixes’ is an ep of 4 versions of the singer’s debut #1 hit. Allen posted earlier this week on Twitter “In 3 days I’m releasing remixes of ‘Best Shot’. A few different DJs from different countries took my song and gave it their own twist.” How cool is that? The list includes Mushroom People, Aligee, and Heyder alongside a pop mix.

The pop remix is your classic addition to the trendiest sounds including beatbox noises, kickdrums, and new guitar parts. We would not be surprised if this makes its way to the radio! Mushroom People’s remix takes it to a whole different level. Stretching the vocals and adding well-placed pauses makes the song have a whole new vibe. The Aligee remix is definitely a hit! With echos, kick beats, and more, the song sounds like its familiar self with a great twist. Heyder took a new approach and added new pitch tones to Allen’s vocals and in certain parts of the song, you can hear faint background vocal tracks. After the second verse/chorus, that new voice you could previously hear comes into play to sing the bridge and nails it at the end.  This project should prove to be successful, as it will resonate more and more with each genre of music that is currently popular today. The remixes do a great job of still keeping the original message and feel of the song alive,  just adding their own styles.

Still launching off of the success Allen found in 2018, 2019 is looking no different. Reaching fans across the country, Allen has been an opening act on Scotty McCreery’s Seasons Change Tour that began late last year and is set to take off on tour Kane Brown on the Live Forever Tour this month. If you are looking for more details about upcoming shows, new music, and more check Allen’s website.

Jimmie Allen Performs Live for Nash FM 94.7 Stage 17

Jimmie Allen Performs at Nash FM 94.7 Stage 17

Celebrating his debut album release, Jimmie Allen headed to Nash FM 94.7 Hackensack Meridian Health Stage 17 in NYC to play songs from Mercury Lane.  Joined on stage by a guitar player, a bass player as well as a percussionist, Allen performed “Blue Jean Baby”, “Warrior”, and  “Back of Your Mind” before chatting with Nash FM 94.7 DJ’s Katie Neal and Jesse Addy. Allen did plenty of joking around, praising his favorite football team, the Superbowl champions,  The Eagles but he became serious when they asked about his time living out of his car in Nashville. “I was faced with a decision to make, do I go back to Delaware, and do what, who knows, or do I just live in my car for a little bit,” he explained. “My grandmom always taught me, obstacles come, and that’s fine, but it’s about realizing how you are going to get past it”.  He told the inspiring story of his time before the fame allowing fans, and listeners in on the struggles he has faced in the past.

One of Nash FM 94.7 Stage 17’s traditions is to have each artist look into the camera and talk to their future selves, something the station hopes to play back for them one day when they are about to play downstairs, at the World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden.  They call these segments “Garden Goals” and Allen laughed as he stared straight into the camera and simply said “Hey Jimmie, don’t suck” with a big thumbs up.

A highlight of his Up Close and Country set was when he mashed up a few of his favorite songs, stripping them down and making them his own.  The mashup included “You’re Gonna Miss This”, “Don’t Blink”, “Here Without You”, and “Lucky Man”.  “Ever since I was eight years old I wanted to have a song on country radio, I can now say that that’s a reality,” he said with gratitude as he thanked Nash FM 94.7 for playing his current single “Best Shot”, and thanked his entire team for their support.  Watch the full live video below.

NYCS First Impression: Jimmie Allen ‘Mercury Lane’

Jimmie Allen Mercury Lane

Last November, during our Swag Session with Jimmie Allen, we said we couldn’t wait to watch his career blossom, as he garnered more and more fans and mainstream success. Today (10/12) marks an incredible milestone for the singer-songwriter. His debut album, Mercury Lane is now available everywhere music is sold. Mercury Lane is truly a passion project for the singer. The record shows perseverance and versatility, two characteristics that describe Allen too. It is clearly personal to the Stoney Creek Records recording artist, as the record is named after the street in Delaware, where he grew up and learned the lessons that have led him to this point in his career.

The record is a complete body of work, offering a song for all music lovers. Allen, who NYCountry Swag named a 2018 Artist to Watch,  adds some flavor to mainstream country music, mixing in some rock, pop, and R&B influences into the album, produced by Ash Bowers and Eric Torres. From love songs to inspiring songs to songs to drink to, the singer is proving that he is the full package. The recording artist co-wrote on eight of the fifteen tracks, including “Make Me Want To,” Back of Your Mind,” and his hit single, “Best Shot,” with some of Nashville’s hottest songwriters.

Each track shows a different part of the singer’s personality and range as a vocalist, songwriter, and as a human being. “Deserve To Be,” one of the slower songs on the record tells the story from Allen’s perspective about a girl, who deserves to have the most fulfilling life and be treated like someone’s “world.” The track is sure to resonate with the millions of fans, who already fell in love with the lead single “Best Shot”, which is climbing up the charts.  The singer expresses another side of his personality with “Underdogs.” With its catchy hook and smooth beat, the song is bound to be a fan favorite. It is Allen’s take on an anthem for people, who are different, and trying to push through adversity. Although the singer didn’t write this one, we can see how the lyrics relate to his 10-year journey to ‘make it’ in the music industry.

If you’re looking for a new tailgate song, don’t worry, Mercury Lane has that too. The soulful track, “County Lines,” which Allen recently released a lyric video for, is sure to become a staple at summer tailgates. “County Lines” has an R&B vibe, with a catchy chorus that keeps listeners wanting to tap their toes and sing along from first listen.

Following the release, the Delaware native announced via his Twitter, three album listening parties, beginning in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 14th. After a short stint in the U.K. with Chase Rice, Allen will embark on Scotty McCreery’s tour, which hits New York on January 26th and Kane Brown’s tour in November, where he will definitely be playing music off his new record.

NYCS Swag Spotlight: Jimmie Allen

Jimmie Allen Swag

Since we last caught up with this week’s Swag Spotlight and one of our Artists to Watch in 2018,  Jimmie Allen we find he has made his way across the country on a radio tour and has his very first single on country radio.  In a recent chat, he explained his appreciation for the incredible team he has surrounding and supporting him and the story behind his first radio single “Best Shot”.

During our conversation, Allen was in LA visiting the radio stations on the west coast. Although he is traveling all around the country, they really only get to see the inside of radio stations so he makes the best of it. He loves not only meeting the program directors and DJs but everyone who works there and the local listeners. “I feel like they are the heartbeat of the station…the way they have responded to me has been nothing short of amazing,” he says. He does try and see the cities he is visiting at night or on the weekends, taking it all in day by day. “I love it, it is grueling but for me, it keeps me focused on staying positive and the opposite alternative which is not traveling or doing music,” he explains.

His voice beams with pride when discussing his very first radio single and how on its very first day it was added to rotation by a whopping 58 stations, the second most added song that day. He truly understands that his incredible team and the relationships they have built over the years has helped to catapult his song to country radio and how grateful he is for their support. “Nobody has gotten where they are without someone believing in them and people around them working towards the same goal,” he humbling explains.  “It’s a great win for all of us and it continues to prove if you have something that is halfway good and you have a strong team around you that believes in it you can make some things happen.”
Speaking of the new single, “Best Shot” Allen tells us was written with his friends JP Williams and Josh London over the course of a few weeks and four or five writing sessions to get the vibe just right. Recording the song three times and still not loving how it was turning out he decided to strip it down to play the song at The Bluebird Cafe one night at a songwriter round. “It’s easy to cover a song with guitars and drums and bass and fiddle and you can kind of smother it, you don’t hear the lyrics and the production sounds like everything else that’s out,” Allen says.  After his producer heard that version he knew to focus on the vocal performance to get the result that ended up on the radio today.

As he finishes up his radio tour, Allen is gearing up to play some pretty big festivals, including Taste of Country up at Hunter Mountain, NY, and CMAFest in Nashville. He is also playing the ACM Tailgate Party in Las Vegas and heading to his very first award show right after.  Ending our conversation on a personal question, we wanted to know if he could go back in time ten years and give himself some advice what would it be.  He delicately explained, “I would tell him to keep going, trust yourself, don’t allow the noise of everyone else’s opinions of who you should be, drown out your own voice of who you know you are.”
We can’t wait to continue to support and champion Jimmie Allen as his career reaches new heights and more and more people discover what an incredible artist he is.  Be sure to be following all of his adventures on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
