Eric Church Drops Another Track – “Doing Life With Me”
Eric Church’s new song “Doing Life With Me” is available now on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dive deeper into the new track.
Eric Church has been steadily releasing songs throughout 2020 and as the year comes to a close, “Doing Life With Me” thanks his wife, family, and fans for joining him on his musical journey. The song starts with the singer-songwriter acknowledging his wife and how much she’s had to give up and take on for him to be a successful country music artist— from touring and carrying the many burdens that come with the life of fame.
“It ain’t easy putting up with // A road dog with a cup with // A little Jack in it // You talk about the backseat // I don’t know, don’t ask me // How she sat in it // She carried my burdens and paid my bail // Put a Tennessee breeze in my Carolina sail // And set me free”
Church’s wife isn’t the only one he thanks. He sings about burdens people close to him have had to deal with while he’s pursued his country music dreams. As an incredibly difficult year comes to a close, this song is the perfect way to reflect and give thanks to the people who’ve been there through it all.
“I don’t pray much anymore // for this old troubadour’s // happiness, wishes, wants and needs // end of my ropes, hopes and dreams // Spend my livin’ giving thanks // for the ships I never sank // every big, every little in the everyday things // the notes and the words and the songs I sing // to the ones doing life with me”
“Doing Life With Me” was the product of a marathon writing session Church spent secluded in a rural North Carolina cabin where he wrote and recorded a song from start to finish each day for nearly a month. The Chief teamed up with songwriters Jeffrey Steele and Casey Beathard to pen the song. Both Steele and Beathard have worked with Church on other songs such as “Mr. Misunderstood,” “Hell of a View” and “Stick That In Your Country Song.”
“Doing Life With Me” is the sixth studio recording from his upcoming project. “Stick That In Your Country Song” was the first song released back in June and was recently nominated for a Grammy for Best Country Solo Performance. His most recent song is a stark contrast from the first but shows Church’s ability to bring the rock ‘n roll but also be able to slow things down— something he has done so well.
