Dylan Scott Sells Out Opening Night of His Tour in NYC
Not too many country artists can say that they have sold out shows in New York City but Dylan Scott is now one of the few. Last night, as a part of Nash FM 94.7’s Birthday Bash, Scott kicked off his ‘Nothing To Do Town Tour’ at Gramercy Theatre in midtown Manhattan. The venue was packed earlier for opener Seth Ennis who also just happened to play on the Today Show for the very first time. Check out a recap of that performance here.
In addition to singing his very single “Woke Up In Nashville” and his current single “Call Your Mama”, Ennis wowed the crowd with a medley of pop-rock cover songs including The Killers “Mr. Brightside”, Fall Out Boy’s “Sugar We’re Going Down” and Yellowcard’s “Ocean Avenue”. As one of our 2017 Artists to Watch, Ennis was the perfect opeing act, warming up the sold-out venue.
Gramercy Theatre was filled wall to wall when Dylan Scott stepped on stage, kicking things off with his most recent hit “Hooked” which was the 7th most played country song of 2018. Fans sang along to the uptempo hit as the Lousiana native ran around the stage exuding his immense passion for performing. Showing no signs of slowing down, Scott went right into “Lay It On Me” and then his current single which just hit radio this past Monday, “Nothing To Do Town”.
He continued the night filled with high energy and played songs spanning his career in country music including the very first song that got things started for him “Crazy Over Me” which he explained to the audience he wrote for his wife who was his high school sweetheart. He also let New York City fans in on a sneak peek of what is to come from his next project, an EP due out April 26th. “This is one of my favorite songs I’ve written in the past six years,” Scott tells the crowd before playing “Nobody” which will be on the Nothing To Do Town EP.
He slowed things down a bit by sitting at the piano, asking the crowd if anyone here liked The Eagles, hilariously enough, the crowd starting booing, thinking Scott meant the National Football Team when he really meant the band. He then did a solo performance of “Desperado” and you could truly hear a pin drop, most likely introducing the beautiful song to his younger fanbase. He started a venue-wide sing along to Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s “Fishing In The Dark” and played “Ball Cap”, “My Girl” and “Beer Buddies” from his 2017 self-titled album.
For the first night of the Nothing To Do Town Tour, New York City fans gave the singer quite the kick-off. Scott continues his tour throughout the end of February. Be sure to check out our coverage in a few weeks when Dylan Scott performs in Nashville at Country Radio Seminar’s ‘New Faces Showcase’.
