Heeding Her Mother’s Advice, Caylee Hammack Releases “Preciatcha”
Capitol Record Nashville’s Caylee Hammack dropped new infectious single “Preciatcha” on August 30th; weeks ahead of scheduled release date, the songwriter announced via social media. Hammack’s elocutionary influences, chic-driven hooks and parallel imagery differentiates the singer-songwriter/producer from others, but in a bigger, luminous way. Hammack’s subtle delivery still fuses aura of her cheek but gratitude. Co-written with Laura Veltz and Jordan Schmidt, Hammack reminisces on past love from a broken relationship and holds those lessons learned near and dear to her heart.
“My mother once told me that every hand you hold is a lesson or a blessing,” shared Hammack in a press release. “If you find good love, you hold on to it. If you find something else by accident, learn what you must from that experience and move on. ‘Preciatcha’ is about searching for a silver lining in a storm. It’s my song for the broken hearts that deserved better but didn’t get it.” Everything happens for a reason, and there’s positivity to be gained from all ordeals and The Bobby Bones Class of 2019 Member preaches her mother’s words singing: “Preciatcha, every time you made me cry / I appreciate ya, even how you said goodbye / Cut me deep, cut me loose, cut me like a piece of paper / But it taught me that isn’t love / So how can I hate ya? / I appreciate ya”
“Preciatcha” follows the Georgia native’s previous single “Just Friends” and her debut “Family Tree.” “Family Tree” was the most added single at country radio for a female artist in over three years. At just 19, the country expressionist moved to Nashville and snuck around with fake IDs to obtain gigs by night, while breaking into the songwriting community by day. She then signed with Universal Music Publishing Group in 2016 as the youngest writer on their roster and then won the ASCAP Foundation’s Sammy Cahn Award. Caylee Hammack is the one to watch.
