Brooke Eden’s New Song “Left You For Me” Out Now

Brooke Eden’s new song, “Left You For Me”  is out now on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new track below.

Brooke Eden is an artist that is unapologetically herself. She has a knack for creating music that feels so deeply personal, and yet relatable to listeners everywhere. Her music is meant for people who want to feel something. Today, Eden releases her newest single, “Left You For Me.”

Continuing her journey of radical honesty and self-love, the new single is the perfect re-introduction to Eden. According to the songstress, ‘“Left You For Me” was [her] compass in [her] journey to self-love. It’s about trusting your gut, honoring what’s right for you, and abandoning anything not meant for you.  We could not agree more!

“I guess that I forgot and I got caught up in the trying // But I’m tired of dying // Didn’t think that I could be this good without ya // I guess I accidentally // Went and wrapped my whole damn wrong around ya // Holding on until one day I was looking in the mirror at someone I don’t want to be // Can’t you see you I didn’t leave you for somebody else // I left you for me”

Eden’s new song is a good reminder for all to build a life we love, not the life we think we should have. “Left You For Me” is an absolute anthem!

Eli Young Band: ‘Love Talking’ – Album Review

Eli Young Band’s brand new album, Love Talkingis out now, June 3rd on all streaming platforms. Take a listen and read our full review below.

For me, Eli Young Band has always been a bit of a “headphones band.” While they sound great on the radio and even better live, there’s just something magical about the band’s sound when listening to them through a good pair of headphones. It’s there that you can truly hear the ways the band stands out in a sea of sameness, blending uniquely Texas instrumentation and tight harmonies with Mike Eli’s trademark twang.

With its first new album in five years, EYB is back with Love Talking, the follow-up to 2017’s Fingerprints. The sixth studio album features “Love Ain’t,” which first appeared on 2019’s This Is Eli Young Band: Greatest Hits, as well as tracks co-written by the likes of Ashley Gorley, Ross Copperman, Josh Osborne, Jimmy Robbins, and Shane McAnally.

“We really wanted to find the positivity in what we got out of the last two years, so that was one of the main goals for this album,” notes lead singer Eli in a statement. “There was a lot of unknown that was written into some of the music we created during that time, but we all lived it so deeply; we wanted to offer something uplifting with our music.”

On Love Talking, they do just that. The album opens with its breezy title track, a perfect summer single, lyrically putting a twist on the idea of speaking without thinking. “When I let it slip that I // Wanted you for my whole life,” he muses. “And you and me turned into us // That was just the love talking.”

The clearest indicator of the album being a pandemic byproduct is “A Good Thing,” which speaks to love pulling them through the tough times. It can easily be applied to any of life’s trials and tribulations, without being cheesy or too cliche.

“When it all goes south, it all hits the fan // The sky falls down, that’s a real good chance // To get a little stronger, work a little harder on you and me // Maybe that’s a good thing // When we’ve had about enough, can’t take it anymore // If we don’t give up we’ll be better than before // When life gets rough baby that’s when love’s all you really need // Maybe that’s a good thing.”

One of the album’s clear standouts is “Break Up In a Bar,” co-written by Ashley Gorley, Ben Johnson, and Hunter Phelps. “Right away, you could just hear the melody in the song from the top and know, ‘okay, this is a special one.’ And the spin – it’s one of those songs lyrically you just wish you would have thought of,” reflects Eli. “We know that that’s always the first rule – if you hear something that you wish you would have thought of, it’s worth that second listen. We just started playing it in our live show, and it’s funny to see the audience because they want to know it so bad… That’s a good sign.”

While breaking up is never easy, there are definitely things to make goodbye a little more palatable, including whiskey, beer, and all the good things found in a bar. “Yeah, girl you know I’m gonna miss you // And the way you felt here in my arms // But when somebody breaks your heart,” Eli sings. “Movin’ on ain’t half as hard // When you break up in a bar.”

While most of the album is the mid-to-up-tempo Texas twang that EYB has become known for, the foursome still shine on the slower songs including “Chances Are” and “Live With It.” On the former, which has a stunning guitar solo, Eli admits that chances are high that he’s missing her too. Yet, while “Chances Are” is about lost love, “Live With It” is about the potential of something new, Eli inviting someone seemingly special into his life. “If you live with it for a minute you might,” he muses. “Wanna live with it for the rest of your life.”

For Eli Young Band, Love Talking was about providing an uplifting collection of new music to fans and it does just that. Give it a listen with your headphones, you’ll thank us later.

The nostalgic song debuted back in November. According to Rhett, the song depicts a teenage romance that is about to be disrupted by college plans. “‘Slow Down Summer’ really is about two kids in love. Rhett continues to give us song after song to play in the soundtrack of our lives. We love that he continues to go back to his country roots, and this song is the perfect direction for the singer-songwriter.

“Yeah, what can I say? // We had our hopes up and the windows down // Fallin’ fast in a one-lane town // Tangled up with your lips on mine // Never seen a brighter green in those eyes and // I put my jacket on your shoulder // Wishin’ the weather wasn’t gettin’ colder // Lettin’ you go, holdin’ onto each other // Closin’ our eyes, sayin’, “Slow down, summer” (slow down, summer)”

Congrats to Rhett and his team on another incredible number one feat! “Slow Down Summer” is definitely a song worth celebrating.

Who Is Canaan Cox? The Story Behind His Journey to Country Music

Who is Canaan Cox? The singer-songwriter joined us to chat about his journey to country music. Get to know the rising star here…

who-is-canaan-cox

Quick Facts:

Full Name – Canaan Cox

Birthday – November 20, 1989

Hometown – Henderson, North Carolina

Musical influences – Michael Jackson, Hanson, Gavin DeGraw

The Beginning:

Today’s spotlight shines on a talented and energetic artist, Canaan Cox. The singer-songwriter is a force to be reckoned with. He’s an actor, singer, dancer, writer, and even goes as far as producing, directing, and editing for his music videos.

Growing up in Henderson, North Carolina, Cox was born into a fairly musical family. “I was kind of surrounded by music. My mom and dad, they both play and write,” began the singer. “My grandma played piano in church and I would always sing, and my degree is in musical theater.”

According to Cox, he grew up listening to all different sorts of musical genres. “I remember the first CD I ever bought was a Michael Jackson CD, which is completely odd, like we were playing bluegrass,” shared the singer. “It was a huge different melting pot of music because there was so many of us,” added Cox, when talking about his big family of siblings.

Cox credits his parents for introducing him to artists like Conway Twitty and Lynyrd Skynyrd. “I grew up in country music and in the Carolinas and in the mountains, I don’t think you ever get over that being in your roots.”

Despite that, he gravitated towards pop himself. “Hanson is still to this day one of my favorite bands. Me personally, I was latching on to the more high-energy pop kind of stuff. Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Whitney [Houston].”

The Turning Point:

Cox took his love for music, and made a career out of it. After going to college for musical theater and writing while there, the singer pursed both acting and singing in new ways “After college, I got a job at theme parks, performing at Six Flags out in Texas. It was kind of a mix of acting and singing. I always knew I wanted to move to Nashville even then.”

Still, Cox did not make the move to music city. “There was always this love and desire to get to Nashville, but it was kind of  like I’ll get there when I’m ready.” While working on cruise ships, early on, Cox met someone who encouraged him to continue to pursue his dreams.

“I met a very, very famous person’s manager on one of the cruise ships. […] We became friends and he was like my only advice to you right now is, ‘you gotta move to Nashville,” shared the singer. “That always stuck with me.”

Flash forward three years after performing on cruise ships, Cox finally made the move to Music City.

Today:

Now, Cox takes his talent and knowledge of musical theatre to create music that is all his own. His pop-country sound is laced throughout his entire catalog of music. The singer recently started sharing songs off his self-titled EP. So far, fans can listen to, “As You Leave,” “J.O.Y.,” and “Wish.”

The latter two are both high-energy and fun songs that any music lover will fall in love with. Cox shared with us how “J.O.Y.,” came about during our conversation. “The acronym happened by accident. I had the idea of “Jokes On You,” began the singer. “I was dating a girl for a long time and she left me for another dude, and the next girl I started dating after her, is now my wife.”

Cox continued,“I started just writing this whole thing about ‘ wow I’m great, what a perfect situation that happened.’ If I hadn’t gone through that, I wouldn’t be where I am, not with my wife and my child.” The acronym worked out as a happy accident as well. Similarly, “Wish” is another optimistic song, a type of song we need during today’s day and age.

Fans can anticipate the final song dropping soon and even more music after that. Stay tuned!
