Zach John King Drops Brand New Song “Space”

Zach John King shares brand new song, “Space”, out now, August 29th, on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new track below.

Sony Music Nashville recording artist and Morgan Wallen’s tour mate, Zach John King continues to impress with each and every release. Last month, he released a collaboration with Bayker Blankenship called, “Life Behind Bars,” which is still stuck in our heads! Today, King adds to his growing catalog with his new song, simply titled, “Space.”

“I wrote ‘Space’ after a month-long stretch of shows where I was constantly in and around cities. No woods, no quiet, just noise and nonstop movement. I got off a red-eye flight and walked straight into a writing room and said, ‘I want to write a song about what I’ve been missing’,” shared King in a recent press release. “I missed home, I missed simplicity. Most of all, I missed being out in God’s creation instead of surrounded by buildings. ‘Space’ is just an honest song about missing home.”

Zach John King and his co-writers Michael Lotten and Blake Pendergrass crafted a song that speaks to the nostalgia of coming back home. The song is an honest and relatable track about being grateful for what you have, but also missing the place that raised you. For King, “Space” embodies missing home after life on the road, being in a new city each and every day. While he may be living his dream, “Space” reminds fans and music lovers that artists are real people too.

“I need a little bit of sky clear // ‘Cause my head isn’t // take it out where the white pines sway // Book of John with some Jon boat fishing // Just take a minute // I need a little bit of // Front porch and cold Coors sipping // Stare off while the sunset waves // Tell the world that I’ve gone missing // ‘Cause I’ve gone missing // And I need a little bit of space // I need a little bit of space”

We have come to appreciate the honesty and wordplay that is evident in each and every one of King’s songs. “Space” is another song that fits the bill! Make sure to go listen ASAP!

Who Is The Band Loula? The Story Behind Their Journey to Country Music

Who is The Band Loula? The incredible country group joined us to chat about their journey to country music. Get to know the rising stars here…

who-is-the-band-loula

The Band Loula // Photo credit: Sara Katherine Mills

Quick Facts:

Full name – The Band Loula comprised of Malachi Mills and Logan Simmons
Hometown – Gainesville, Georgia
Current city – Nashville, Tennessee
Label – Warner Music Nashville
Current Project – Sweet Southern Summer EP (as of date of article: 8/25/2025)
The Beginning:

On the heels of releasing their debut EP, Sweet Southern Summer, we chatted with Malachi Mills and Logan Simmons of The Band Loula in this week’s spotlight feature. The Band Loula joined us to talk about their record, their origin story, and everything in between. Keep reading to learn more!

Growing up in Georgia, Both Malachi and Logan found themselves immersed in music from an early age. “My upbringing was very much musical, I would say, but, I didn’t really get into any professional sides of music until Malachi was involved. But I always was singing [and grew up going to Tent Revivals],” began Logan. So I grew up listening to gospel music, singing gospel music, a lot of bluegrass music and I was around music all the time, but really didn’t start singing. publicly or like performing until probably middle school or high school, started singing at church some.”

For Malachi, church was also an important part of his upbringing and his early musical tastes.“I always knew I liked to sing. It was just kind of a natural. I just knew that I had this desire inside of me, and I first got to express that in church,” he shared, adding, “I listened to a lot of gospel music growing up. […] I somehow really developed a love for, Motown. […] Then whenever I was I was 16 and could drive, I got all of my brother’s old country CDs, and so I started listening to country music, and, you know, the radio, and whenever you’re in Georgia, you just always around country music.”

Despite both loving music, Logan’s stage-fright inhibited her from being on stage, until Malachi helped her through it, when they finally met at just fourteen years old.

The Turning Point:

“Malachi and I met when we were 14. and we started singing in church together,” shared Logan. “About the same time me and Logan met was the first time I’d ever really sang in front of anybody,” added Malachi. The twosome knew of each other for quite a while before Malachi approached Logan with an idea to sing together professionally. “We didn’t really start singing just for us two, somewhere outside of church until we were a little bit older. So, the band was not really conceptualized till probably 2020, 2021.”

Despite working on music for several years, Malachi didn’t feel all in until Logan joined the band, officially forming The Band Loula.“Whenever we started singing together and making YouTube videos, it was just one of those things that kind of naturally came together, and like Logan mentioned, there was some magic there, some chemistry that you can’t really fake,” they shared. “We decided to be a band, and we still never rushed anything. We tried to make sure, and put our best foot forward and work hard with it, but also, build it naturally, and we we just started writing songs and booking shows and doing the thing.”

When The Band Loula officially formed, Malachi had already made connections in Nashville, writing and networking with fellow artists and industry people, who later would help them sign their record deal with Warner Music Nashville and release their debut EP.

Today:

Flash forward to today, The Band Loula officially released their major-label debut EP, Sweet Southern Summer featuring six songs.

“We not too long after getting to Nashville ended up developing a relationship with John Osborne, who is the producer on this record with additional production from a good friend of ours named Greg Bieck,” shared the Band Loula. “We kind of we kind of pieced it together, with intentionality, of course, but we pieced it together because we’re in the stage of releasing singles, and, we wanted to really just see what people were resonating with as we were releasing it, and, I think we figured it out, you know, like, it was all this common threads of these, like, Southern experiences that we have culturally, maybe spiritually, or socially, and it’s just this, you see a common thread of Southern experiences in there.”

Sweet Southern Summer fuses the singer-songwriters southern rock, country, and folk influences together effortlessly. With lyrics that push the envelop, melodies that stick in your head, and purposeful instrumentals, the record as a whole is exactly what The Band Loula had hoped it would be.

“Having a first body of work from a small band is it’s a very big deal to us, and it’s, I think I said this the other day as well, and I want to hold on to it that little milestones to a little band are huge milestones,” shared the singers. “Together in our combined experiences creates this really cool atmosphere in the writing room where you, able to write songs that are maybe a little bit on the line or over the line, but they’re true. They’re just true and honest to us, and that’s what we always want to keep at the center.”

This is just the beginning for The Band Loula. Expect the band to get even bigger, release even more music, and hopefully tour their record sooner rather than later. Stay tuned!

Lainey Wilson ‘Whirlwind Deluxe’ – Album Review

Lainey Wilson’s new album, Whirlwind Deluxe is out now, August 22nd on all streaming platforms. Take a listen and read our full review below.

About  year to the date of its initial release, Lainey Wilson is taking fans back into her incredible project, Whirlwind. In an expanded version that she is calling, Whirlwind Deluxe, Wilson reminds fans exactly what the project was such a huge success. The new record features five additional tracks, including, “Bell Bottoms Up” and “Somewhere Over Laredo.”

With one of the genre’s most unique voices and standout styles, Lainey Wilson has been a tornado through the boys club that is often the hierarchy of country music. She continues to rise through the ashes and take the country world by storm. This evident on all five new tracks off the deluxe record.

Beginning with “Somewhere Over Laredo,” the song captures the stories that are rooted in reflection, nostalgia, and a new perspective. According to Wilson, “I’ve always been inspired by putting myself into other peoples’ shoes and telling stories from others’ perspective, but I’ve found a new creative avenue with this one putting myself back into a pair of shoes that I wore years ago.”

On the other hand, “King Ranch, King George, King James” leans on Wilson’s traditional country roots. The song feels like it could have been cut straight out of the 90s in the best possible way. Similarly on “Yesterday, All Day, Every Day” Wilson brings the old-school country energy. On the more upbeat track, Wilson shines. Of course, no Lainey Wilson album is complete with a honky-honk classic. “Bell Bottoms Up” is that song. A true line-dancing jam, “Bell Bottoms Up” is an anthem for fun and country music.

Finally, Wilson closed out the record with “Peace, Love, and Cowboys.” The song is an outcry for more peace and camaraderie in the world. A truly beautiful and inspiring way to end the record, Wilson proves that her legacy is a permeant fixture in the genre. She put it perfectly, “I’m finding out the ‘Whirlwind never stops. The more I walk through it, the more my feet stay planted on the ground and my eyes to the sky.” The deluxe album is the perfect next stop on her journey!

Russell Dickerson ‘Famous Back Home’ – Album Review

Russell Dickerson’s new project, Famous Back Home is out now, August 22nd on all streaming platforms. Take a listen and read our full review below.

On his fourth studio album, Famous Back Home, Russell Dickerson continues to do what he does best: blend buoyant country pop with romantic swooning ballads. The 12 track collection includes 10 songs co-written by the Tennessee native, along with Nashville’s biggest names including Josh Kerr, Chase McGill, Parker Welling, and more.

“To go from ‘Yours’ to where we are now—it’s opened up a whole new side of me and my personality,” says the Triple Tigers artist. “What you see on stage is directly connected to these songs. This is who I am.”

Nowhere is that more evident than on the album’s titular track, which finds him lost in the realization that the best moments in life happen at home, and not on stage. “Growing up in a small town, I had this idea ‘I’m going to make it out of here. I’m going to make it big. Everybody is going to know my name,’” shares Dickerson. “But then you have a family and it’s like, ‘Actually, all I want to do is be famous at home.’  The further down this road I get, the more I realize the only thing that matters is my family.”

Dickerson leans into the kind of driving uptempos he’s known for, like the previously released “Happen to Me.” Then there’s ‘Sippin’ On Top of the World,’ a rousing anthem that celebrates life’s simple things.” Meanwhile, “Love That I Love You” is a staccato and rhythmic track that wouldn’t sound out of place on a Jonas Brothers album, in the best way.

“And it’s funny to look around—there’s a lot of whiskey and darkness in today’s country music, and honestly, I’m just not that guy. People come to me to be lifted up, to have some happiness dropped into their life and I like being that guy.”

“Sunrise in a Silverado” is a warm, Laurel Canyon-esque breezer that allows Dickerson to flex his voice, while “For a Truck” is your less-than-typical truck song. Here, he’s trading his savings for a ring instead of the truck that he had planned for, choosing one special lady over the four wheels he’s been eyeing. “There I was,” he muses, “Thought I was just, saving up for a truck.”

Dickerson’s love for his influences runs through the album. There’s a wink to “Dust on the Bottle” in the nostalgic opener “Dust,” playful name-drops of Travis Tritt and Crazytown in “Worth Your Wild,” and perhaps most notably, “Heard It In a Country Song,” where he strings together wisdom borrowed straight from country classics.

“So if I get a little loud, drinking Tennessee whiskey // Take starry nights over lights in the city //  Get a little proud of this little bitty town that I call home //  There’s a three chord truth on an FM station // And a neon jukebox you could probably blame it on // Yeah, I heard it in a country song”

“Never Leave,” “16 Me,” and “Bones” show off his more introspective side, with “Leave” a sparse and vulnerable plea of desperation that features harmonies from Vince GIll, while “16 Me” reads like an encouraging letter to his younger self. Likewise, “Bones” has him promising eternal love to someone, outlasting even his lifetime.

“I’ll love ya till the stars above you // Ain’t shining in the sky no more //  Long as I’m livin’, baby, I ain’t quittin’ // That’s a love you can bet your life on // Yeah, I’ll love ya till I’m six feet down in the ground // And the gold on my finger’s wrapped around // Nothin’ but bones”

When it comes to Famous Back Home, Dickerson is truly at his best. “I’ve hit a point in my career where I’ve got the confidence to do what feels right to me,” he says. “No more following the rules, no more fitting in a box. And I’m going to make music that’s nothing like what I’ve done before.”

Here, he doesn’t just stick to the formula that made him a star. Instead, he refines it, stretches it, and proves there’s more depth beneath the feel-good anthems.

Famous Back Home Track List:

  1. Dust (Russell Dickerson, Josh Kerr, John Byron)
  2. Sippin On Top of the World (Travis Wood, Casey Brown, Hunter Phelps)
