Block cleverly shares that the only things that should break-up on an old backroad is phones and radios. The imagery paired with the catchy melody makes “Phones & Radios” one of the singer’s best to date.

“When I got in your truck tonight // I didn’t know where you and I were headed // a quarter after seven // bout ten miles west of town // I could tell we were going south together // Thought we’d ride around together // Back road we were on the rocks // A different kind of lost // and then my heart and every bar of service dropped // Was that static on the FM or did you just say we’re done // Can’t blame bad reception, when I’m sitting here shotgun  // Yeah, I just heard it’s over and I heard it crystal clear // Only phones and radios should break up out here”

“Phones & Radios” is catchy, relatable, and honest, all things that fans can expect from album number two. Block continues to impress song after song, and we cannot wait for the world to here what she has coming soon!

Who Is Ashland Craft? The Story Behind Her Journey to Country Music

Who is Ashland Craft? The singer-songwriter joined us to chat about her journey to country music. Get to know the rising star here…

who-is-ashland-craft

Ashland Craft // Photo credit: Nicole Murphy

Quick Facts:

Full Name – Ashland Craft
Birthdate – April 30th
Hometown – Piedmont, South Carolina
Current City – Nashville, Tennessee
Musical Influences – Shania Twain, Chris Stapleton, Ronnie Milsap, Conway Twitty, Bonnie Raitt, Def Leppard
Label – LEO33
Current Single – Lie A Little” (as of date of article: 9/8/2025)

The Beginning:

Today’s spotlight is an artist we have been sharing for several years now, Ashland Craft. Craft is an incredible vocalist, a true artist, and a songwriter that writes about what she knows. While the songstress has had many different moments in her career, currently, she is creating her best music to date. We chatted with Craft about her new music, how much became her calling, and everything in between.

“I was raised in a town called Piedmont, South Carolina, which is, right outside the city of Greenville, South Carolina,” shared the singer. “Blue collar parents who had the same jobs their entire lives and worked really hard. Because of her parents, Craft was raised with an unmatched work ethic, as well as, an early love for music.

I grew up in church, singing some songs and music kind of got a hold of me at a really young age, so to me, it’s kind of the one thing that I’ve always loved and known and felt confident,” shared the singer. She recalls enjoying artists like George Jones and Shania Twain. “It’s so hard for me [to choose favorites] because I think I just love music so much I was absorbing everything, but if I had to list a couple that really made an impact on me, I would say, George Jones, a lot of his writing and realism in his music and being brutally honest about stuff like, I loved that aspect. My dad loved George Jones and, Merle Haggard and all of those, you know, icons. So I really appreciated from a young age to them just like telling how it was, I guess. Even if if it was hard or uncomfortable. It’s just like somebody related to that, and I thought that was really special. Shania Twain, honestly, is another pivotal artist for me.”

The Turning Point:

Despite loving music from an early age, Craft was not aware of the huge music industry that she would eventually take part in. “I think where I’m from, I didn’t necessarily think music was an option as a career. It was always a dream and something that it just led me through life, truly. I just made decisions. I didn’t even think about it. I was just like, we’ll go wherever the music takes me.”

For Craft, music was an outlet that became one of the most important things in her life. “I went through some very hard things as a kid, and that became, like, almost therapy for me when I felt, you know, misunderstood or not heard out, or, you, just any situation, really, is when I turn to music, and I felt seen. So, I think that is probably one of the biggest reasons that kind of led me here today.”

As her life unfolded, Craft found herself auditioning for The Voice and playing dive bars gigs around town. “I’ve just tried to spend or fill all my time with music in some way, shape, or form, and that eventually brought me here to Nashville, where I’m just trying to release music and let people see good kind of music that, like, made me growing up.”

Along the way, through trial and error and opportunity, Craft truly found her voice, her team at LEO33, and her sound. “Every time I did something with music, it was just like a natural call and, and I never wanted to leave,” she shared.

Today:

Flash forward to today, Craft is all in on her music. Most recently, Craft released her record Dive Bar Beauty Queen featuring eleven songs. The record as a whole pays tribute to the songs that inspire her, the artists that blazed the path she is walking, and the songs that poured out of her on this journey.

“We were getting to the end of the process, about a year in, and I had sent my label this song that I had written when I was nineteen, and I sent them “Dive Bar Beauty Queen” and they were like ‘we have to release this.’ And for me, that was a big leap of faith in myself, because I just remembered the age that I was when I wrote that. You know, I hadn’t really gone through many as many experiences as I had up to this point, but I think that was the enticing factor of getting that song is I think my biggest goal is to show the journey from kind of start to finish or at least start to where I am now and I think we all just collectively decided there was not a song that was more me to a tee than that one, and it was the only song I really written by myself.”

“Dive Bar Beauty Queen” became the pillar for the entire project, allowing fans to see the love and honesty that Craft’s music is all about. “I really wanted people to see this side to me. I didn’t just, like, move to Nashville and then just, you know, start jumping on tours,” she shared, adding, “I’ve had a lot of folks, like, stick around as long as they have, and we’re selling tickets to my first headlining tour, and I’m just excited to be able to give a way longer set than we I think typically have in the past.”

For Craft, the music and the fans are everything. She will continue to showcase that as she tours with fellow artist Meg Patrick. Fans can grab tickets here. Stay tuned for even more coming from Craft!

Lanie Gardner: ‘Faded Polaroids’ – Album Review

Lanie Gardner shares her new album, Faded Polaroids, officially out now, September 5th on all streaming platforms. Learn more and listen to the new album below.

Since arriving on the country music scene, Lanie Gardner has carved her own lane as a singer-songwriter in the genre. She creates music that is unapologetically her, while pairing honest storytelling lyrics with thoughtful melodies and arrangements. Her recent EP, polaroids set the stage for her incredible sophomore album, Faded Polaroids, out today.

“I created the idea of Faded Polaroids using actual polaroids. Some brand new, others nicotine-stained, withered, torn and worn from being passed down through the years,” shared Gardner in a recent press release. “It felt like zooming out on my whole life and finally seeing the bigger picture. These snapshots — these songs — are the most beautiful parts of me. They tell the story of where I come from, who I come from, what I’ve learned and who I’m becoming. I hope these songs encourage people to take the time to make their own version of that too. I think it’s important that we all do.”

Faded Polaroids intentionally features eighteen songs including the six off the previously released EP. Opening up with “Takin’ The Slow Ride,” Gardner invites listeners to enjoy life’s simplest moments. Like many of her songs, such as “Mama’s Kitchen Table” and “Love You Like Appalachia”, the songstress pays homage to her home state of North Carolina and takes fans on a journey to appreciate her home-state’s beauty.

The record as a whole seamlessly blends genre, drawing on inspiration from Gardner’s rock and folk influences. Full of unfiltered anthems like, “Boot Down”, “Jeans,” and “Ur Mad,” this songstress sings her truth. On the latter, “Ur Mad,” Gardner brings the confidence and cements that she will not apologize for who she is.

While Faded Polaroids is full of thoughtful anthems, it also has deep moments of personal healing and self-discovery. On “Daddy Didn’t,” Gardner explores and opens up about her relationship with her father, allowing fans an inside look into her upbringing. Similarly on the title track, the singer-songwriter takes a sentimental look-back at moments in time, a true culmination of photographs that make up her story.

Each and every song off Faded Polaroids is purposeful and personal, yet relatable. Gardner has found a way to weave her true experiences into a beautiful work of art, something that fans will find themselves in again and again. Faded Polaroids is a record you are going to want to come back to again and again. Gardner outdid her self on the project.

Brendan Walter Releases New Song “The Other Side”

Brendan Walter releases new song, “The Other Side” is out now, September 5th, on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand-new track below.

RECORDS Nashville and Sony Music Nashville recording artist, Brendan Walter continues to impress. Each release takes fans deeper into Walter’s world, as his songs put his storytelling on a pedestal in a way that’s both intriguing and honest. Today’s new song, “The Other Side” exemplifies that perfectly.

Written by Walter with Robert Williford and Grady Smith, “The Other Side” is a beautiful, yet tragic song about the desperation you feel when you don’t know if a relationship is going to work out, but you want it to. According to Walter, the song is written from a true and authentic place. “’In my last relationship, it was the first time I could have seen myself going the distance with someone, and while it was exciting, there is a level of feeling like you are jumping off a cliff to potentially be hurt again. There is a certain desperation that I felt to make it work and not make the same mistakes I had in the past, and the hope was to convey this desperation as a longing to find my person.”

“You left your hair tie in my kitchen // Is this just a hopeless promotion // I can see you and me // On the brink of forever and ever // I don’t know how it goes // But I’m holding a letter // Close to my chest, it says // Call me by my name // I don’t like this game where // I run, you hid // Can we make it to the other side”

Much like “Normal Day” and “Life Of Deseret,” “The Other Side” paints a vivid picture of a universal experience, while inviting the listener into the mind of Walter as a storyteller and a true artist.

Who Is Clayton Mullen? The Story Behind His Journey to Country Music

Who is Clayton Mullen? The singer-songwriter joined us to chat about his journey to country music. Get to know the rising star here…

who-is-clayton-mullen-Photo Credit: Jordan Dziekan

Clayton Mullen // Photo Credit: Jordan Dziekan

Quick Facts:

Full name – Clayton Mullen
Birthdate – 11/10/2000
Hometown – Villanova, Pennsylvania
Current city – Nashville, Tennessee
Musical influences – John Mayer, Jason Aldean, Sam Hunt, Ed Sheeran, Luke Combs
Current Project – “Pocket Aces” (as of date of article: 9/1/2025)
The Beginning:

As country music continues to get bigger and bigger, artists, specifically songwriters are finding innovative new ways to blend sounds with the story-telling lyrics that make country music so great. In today’s spotlight, we shine our light on an artist who has found his own way of doing just that. Clayton Mullen’s story is full of authenticity, alignment, and hard-work. Keep reading to learn more about his story, his brand new project, and where he’s headed next.

“I was born in California, outside of L.A., but I grew up in Villanova, Pennsylvania, and a place called Weston, Massachusetts, which is about 30 minutes outside of Boston,” began Mullen. “My dad always played the guitar growing up. […] My two older sisters, they were classically trained singers, so while singing wasn’t like a big part of that, for me, specifically growing up, it was definitely around me and in my family”

Mullen even recalls a more distant family member working as a songwriter. “[Music] wasn’t like this total, random thing for me. I think if you go back and look at, you, my upbringing that it kind of makes sense on how I ended up falling into country music.”

For Mullen music was about exploration and curiosity, rather than honing a talent at first. “I don’t know if I’dove into artists. I more just found songs. I would say, because I wasn’t, like, huge in the music, which was something I would listen to, you know, whatever, in the car in my headphones, but I do remember always liking music that was different than everybody else was liking,” he shared, reminiscing about liking genres when they weren’t “cool.” Later on in his musical journey, he drew inspiration from artists like John Mayer and Sam Hunt.

The Turning Point:

While Mullen’s clearly had music in his DNA, it wasn’t until he graduated high-school that he started to hone in on his talent.“I kind of knew I could sing just because I was singing in the shower every once in a while, but I was always nervous to sing in front of people,” he shared.

However, when he went to college in Texas to attend TCU, he decide to join the fraternity band during his freshman year. “The fraternity band thing kind of came about just because me and a couple of the guys were hanging out one night and, you know, having a couple of beers, so I worked up some courage to sing in front of them. […] It’s just kind of one thing went to another and I started playing music, and that’s kind of how it happened.”

As his built more and more confidence singing in front of an audience, he started organically songwriting as well “Songwriting It really just kind of just happened […] When I was at TCU, I met a guy named Palmer Anthony, who’s another artist in Texas and one of my best friends, and we started co-writing, and that was show my first experience in co writing, and he really taught me how to construct the song, and then, from there, you know, I put out those songs and then got connected with publishers in Nashville, and that’s when I, like, very early on in my writing career, I was writing with some of the best writers in Nashville, so it really ups the level of my songs pretty quickly.”

After graduating college, Mullen found himself at a crossroads, where he could work a sales job or move to Nashville to pursue his music career. Fortunately, he was in a place where he could make the latter happen. “It wasn’t like I was like, “oh, I need to do this professional and if I don’t, then I’m screwed.” I just was following it because I loved it and then those doors opened themselves and I became very fortunate that after school, when it was time to decide whether I was going to go work a sales job or move to Nashville, I was set up in a position where I could move to Nashville and do it for a living and sign a publishing deal.”

Today:

Flash forward to today, Mullen’s just released the deluxe version of his album Varsity Blues featuring seven songs that truly speak to his unique talent as a singer and as a songwriter. The deluxe project, called, Varsity Blues: OT features two brand new songs including fan-favorite, “Pocket Aces” and “Hearts ad Records.”

“‘Varsity Blues’ is a project that I’ve been working on, since I moved to town, and it’s a project that I knew, I wanted to talk more about growing up and kind of like this all American upbringing that I felt like I lived, and about sports and young love and heartbreak and all that stuff,” shared the singer. “I was putting my story to some of the stories that I used to love growing up. So it was heavily influenced by the music I listened to, and obviously my story.”

The record as a whole was intentionally put together to share a common thread with the themes and the stories, while also remaining true to the type of music that Mullen’s wants to create more of. ” I wanted to build the project around that type of feeling, and I knew “Pocket Aces” was a song that the fans really enjoyed, so that one was definitely a no brainer, to be part of the project, but it just took a little bit longer to make sure we got the production.,” he shared, adding, “I think all these songs thematically live in the same lane, and I wanted them to be part of one project and, yeah, I’m just really happy with the way that we did it in the storytelling that we were able to portray in the songs.”

Varsity Blues is just the beginning for Mullen. He has big plans in the works and is excited for fans to continue to jump on this crazy ride with him. “We’re working on a whole bunch of new music to close out the year as well as start the top of 2026 and there’s other opportunities that we’ve had that you know, our music might be featured in a couple of movies, which is cool, too. So that stuff we can’t really dive into yet, but there’s definitely some fun stuff on that horizon.”

Bailey Zimmerman and Luke Combs Go Number One with “Backup Plan”

Bailey Zimmerman and Luke Combs go number one at country radio this week with their song “Backup Plan.” Learn all the details here.

In his blossoming career, Bailey Zimmerman is quickly catapulting to the top. Zimmerman has landed multiple consecutive back to back number one singles at country radio, including his first number on, “Fall In Love” and follow up single, “Rock And A Hard Place.” On the flip side, Luke Combs has cemented himself as one of the top country artists of this day and age in the genre. Together, the duo released a song called, “Backup Plan,” which is officially the number one song at country radio this week!

“Backup Plan” marks the fifth number one single for Zimmerman so far in his career and the 22nd number one single for Combs. Together, the pair brought the song to life, making it an easy song to catapult up the radio charts. Written by Jimi Bell, Jon Sherwood, and Tucker Beathard, “Backup Plan” is a fast paced anthem for staying the course and believing in yourself.

“So, if you got a fire, don’t lose it // If you got a do-or-die dream, do it // If you got somethin’ to prove, go on and prove it // Don’t let nobody clip your wings // Keep your head down, keep on the blinders // Tune out the doubters and all the closed minders // If it’s in your blood, fallin’ down ain’t enough // To change who you were born to be // Gettin’ back up, that’s the only backup plan you need”

Congratulations to Zimmerman and his team on their accomplishment. We are excited to see his streak of number ones continue to grow. As for Combs, we’re sure they’ll be many more number ones to come too!
