Parker McCollum Goes Number One with “Burn It Down”

Parker McCollum’s song, “Burn It Down” goes number one at country radio this week, marking his fourth number one single. Learn all the details here.

Parker McCollum is emerging as an absolute superstar in the country music industry. Last year, he transformed into a mainstay in country music, and today, he is on the path to superstardom. The singer-songwriter adds to his streak of number one hits at country radio, earning his fourth number one with his single, “Burn It Down.”

While much of McCollum’s songs focus on the lyrics, “Burn It Down” is both lyrically-inviting and has a killer groove to it. The song is about a person who is going through a break-up and trying to remove everything that reminds you of the other person out of your life. McCollum finds a way to convey that all too relatable emotion of heartbreak in a way that feels comforting and raw. It is no wonder why “Burn It Down” hit the number one spot on the country charts.

“I’ll leave my memories inside // In that bed we loved in all night // Every word, every fight, every feeling // Stone cold, not a sound // Burn it down ’til it’s ashes and smoke // Burn it down to the smolderin’ coals // Burn it down ’til I don’t want you no more // Baby, burn it down”

American Idol favorite and one of country’s music rising stars, Chayce Beckham has had quite the career so far. His debut single to country radio, “23” was a fan-favorite from the get-go, and now the single marks Beckham’s first number one of his career.

This moment is even more special for Beckham because “23” is an autobiographical song that he self-penned about his struggles and his life. Adding to the feat, “23” becomes the first number one song that was solely-written by the artist who also recorded it since Taylor Swift’s “Ours” in 2012. The hit song precedes the singer’s debut album, Bad For Me, which is slated for release this Friday, April 5th.

“Well, I went to California and I had me a band // And we played in all the bars in all the southern lands // We played all night, and we drank for free // All of my boys and me // Now I’m 23 and there ain’t nobody who can drink like me // Soon I’ll be 24 and the Lord knows that I can’t drink no more // I know I shoulda taken it slow // It’s not the way that my life goes // Now I know”

When two superstars combine their talents on a song, it is almost always a hit! This was certainly the case when Thomas Rhett and Morgan Wallen collaborated last year. Their beautiful song, “Mamaw’s House” is officially the number one song at country radio this week.

Written by Rhett and Wallen with Matt Dragstrem and Chase McGill, “Mamaw’s House” begins with a touching recording of Wallen talking to his ‘Mamaw’ on the phone. It is a sweet and authentic display of affection that adds to the overall nostalgia of the song. The song is a true ode to the special relationship between grandchildren and grandmothers, as well as, speaks to the bigger notion of the importance of family in country music. This marks the 22nd number one single for Rhett and the 11th for Wallen.

“It was always hotter than the grease she used to fry that chicken // Smelled like Marlboro Reds and all the butter from her biscuits // And that Lincoln in the driveway, circa 1982 // Was on the shiny side of rusty and on the paler side of blue // Cussin’ and complainin’ weren’t allowed in Mamaw’s house // If every nightstand had a Bible, every front porch had a swing // If every backyard had a garden, every front door had a screen // Well, maybe this crazy world would straighten up and slow on down // If every town had a Mamaw’s house”

Congrats to Rhett, Wallen, and their teams on landing a number one song with “Mamaw’s House.”
