One of country music’s newest rising duos, Neon Union (Andrew Millsaps and Leo Brooks) is officially releasing their brand new debut EP, Double Wide Castle Sessions. The record features five songs that distinctly showcase their individual and collective talents as vocalists and songwriters.
Each of the five songs play to the duo’s never-ending list of strengths. The record kicks off with “Redneck Rich.” On the single, Neon Union celebrates loving life no matter how “rich” you are. The song is a true anthem for the blue-collar person, but invites anyone who loves the country lifestyle in with open arms. “Redneck Rich” is a fun-loving anthem that is stage-ready. “How You Don’t” is another true anthem off the record that comes later in the project.
The unique production and killer story-telling continue on the next song of the EP. “This Thing” is a special-kind of love song. Neon Union once again bring a relatable, yet celebratory vibe to their music. On “This Thing,” the men appear confident and ready to commit.
“This thing has kinda got a ring // Like the pretty one down at the diamond shop // This thing is kinda pink champagne // And a cake with me and the bride on top // It’s a little white church in June // With a couple of tickets to a Cozumel honeymoon // On a big jet plane with the same last name, say I do // And baby lets do this thing”
On “Country Radio Song,” Neon Union slows things down a bit, while still drawing in the listener. The song is the perfect combination of relatability and authenticity. The vulnerable nature of wanting to spin your person around, while listening to a country song is both heartfelt and real, two qualities that Neon Union often bring to their music.
Neon Union end the record with one of our favorites off the project, “American Dirt.” The project is the one-true slow jam on the record. While all of the songs have heart and depth, “American Dirt” leads the pack. A true story of resilience, the track is a true ode to both country living and the people that do not give up no matter what obstacles are in their way. Neon Union proves both their songwriting prowess and incredible vocals on this one-of-a-kind new song.
Double Wide Castle Sessions EP is an incredible body of work for Neon Union. Unapologetically sticking to who they are and what they have to say, the debut EP is a perfect introduction to their rising talent.

With a voice that’s powerful yet personable and an approachable style of lyricism that hearkens back to the early days of Taylor Swift or Kelsea Ballerini, country newcomer Ashley Cooke offers her powerful debut, shot in the dark, out now.
Of the 24 tracks on her Big Loud/ Back Blocks Music release, Cooke co-penned all but four, collaborating with Nashville heavy hitters ranging from fellow artists like Colbie Caillat, Lainey Wilson, and Ryan Hurd to acclaimed songwriters like Josh Kerr, Nicolle Galyon, and Josh Osborne.
For the Parkland, Florida native, who began gaining buzz on TikTok during the Covid pandemic, this album release is the logical next step. “The last year of my life has been crazy and wonderful in so many ways, but I think the next year might be even better…It’s been full of bucket list moments for me… I made my Opry debut, signed my first deals, went on tours with my heroes, and lived a lot of life in the moments in between. This album is about all of that — and it’s about the magic that can come if you really take risks in life and love,” shared the singer-songwriter. “I can’t wait for each of you to hear it. Thank you to everyone who helped get me here, and thank you for making me feel so safe to take a shot in the dark.”
The album’s title track is just one of many standouts, a simple ode to the path to a new love, found unexpectedly in a dark bar and aided by some liquid courage. “Last call, first kiss a little bit drunk // Who knew two straight tequilas on a debit card // Would wind us up right where we are,” She sings. “So here’s to, two strangers in the back of a bar // Taking a shot in the dark.”
Likewise, songs like “next to you,” “good thing going,” and “back in the saddle” also celebrate the bloom of new love and the excitement that comes along with it. “next to you” is an especially poignant and sparse ballad that finds Cooke celebrating the type of love she didn’t know existed. “I’ve been living dreams lately // but they don’t hold a candle to // waking up next to you.” Similarly, the wedding-ready “never ‘til now” finds Cooke trading verses with Brett Young as they celebrate the person that makes everything makes sense. “I never wanted to tap my brakes // I never wanted to settle down // I was always one foot out the door // I never thought about turning ’round // Never saw myself with a white picket fence dug into the ground // Never ’til now”
Other duets contribute stellar moments on Cooke’s debut, enlisting rising country stars like Nate Smith and Jackson Dean, in addition to Caillat. Smith joins the singer-songwriter on the double entendre, heartbreak-laden “see you around,” while Dean lends his raspy voice to ““what are you on fire about?,” which finds the pair musing that the flame between them has burned out.
Meanwhile, it’s her blistering duet with Caillat that enables her to make a statement, similar to that of Carly Pearce’s hit “Next Girl.” Here, the pair trade verses about a toxic ex, warning his new girlfriend to be cautious with her new beau.
“This ain’t me being mean, girl // I just hate to see a good heart hangin’ on a string, girl // It sure looks a lot like love // But what you don’t see girl // Is all those cards slid so far up his sleeve girl // When he says you’re the only one // Take it from me, yeah it’s just another thing // That he doesn’t mean, girl // Aw that he doesn’t mean, girl”
That honesty continues throughout the album, weaving its way through songs like “getting into,” “gonna get,” and “tryin’ to love you.” On the former, she’s warning a suitor to be prepared for a relationship. “Before you get into my car, into my bed, into my heart, my head,” She warns. “Know what you’re getting into.” Meanwhile, “tryin’ to love you” has her caught up with someone who is perfect on paper, but isn’t quite clicking. “It ain’t your fault // it’s hard to start a fire when you can’t make one spark fly // the trouble with trying to love you // is I shouldn’t have to try.”
Relationships ending are a prevalent theme throughout the LP, weaving its way through tracks like “tastes like,” “moving on with grace,” “i almost do,” “your place,” and “build a bridge.” What Cooke does brilliantly here is show every aspect of a relationship ending and the range of emotions. The album opener, “tastes like” finds her comparing whiskey to a former flame, while “i almost do” has her struggling not to reach out to an ex. On “moving on with grace,” Cooke cleverly finds solace at the bar, unapologetically drowning her sorrows in Jack Daniels, while her ex has moved on with a girl named Grace.
Cooke also shines on ballads, including “enough to leave,” which finds her knowing she’s not right for someone and loving them enough to move on. Meanwhile, “it’s been a year” is a poignant look at how fast time passes and how much things can change in one year. “And I ain’t sayin’ it ain’t been a good one // It’s been a did a lot more than I thought I could one // It’s been three hundred sixty five of record lows and record highs // Loving and losing, fun and confusing, praying and shifting gears // For the minute you got, it’s probably a lot, more than you wanna hear // So all I’ll say is, it’s been a year”
The album’s closing track is one of its strongest standouts, as “state i’m in” is an especially poignant ballad that has her grappling with being a young touring artist while also comparing herself to her peers. With her pristine voice shining over twangy guitars, she examines her place in life.
Speaking to Whiskey Riff, she revealed of the song, “I was in a tour van, touring around the country as we do as young artists, and I was scrolling through Instagram and I was seeing so many of my friends posting that they’re getting married, or having babies, and all these exciting things in their life. And I was just so excited for them. And I took a deep breath and I realized, like, ‘Wow, I’m so excited for them and I’m so happy for me that I’m in such a different phase of my life than they are.’ And it’s beautiful that we can have such different lives at the same age…”
On Shot In The Dark, Ashley Cooke is unfiltered and unfettered, positioning herself as a powerful female country artist for the next generation.

After a purposefully quiet couple of months, Dan + Shay are officially back with more new music! On the heels of their ‘The Voice’ announcement, the platimum-selling duo is sharing even more exciting news. Their next studio album, Bigger Houses will be out on September 15th. The record features twelve songs, three of which are available today, including, “Save Me The Trouble,” “Heartbreak On The Map,” and the title track, “Bigger Houses.”
“Some of our records have been more pop or hip-hop/R&B-infused,” shared Dan Smyers, 1/2 of Dan + Shay. “But on this record, I wanted to make tracks that we could hop up at any bar anywhere with our live band and play the songs as they were recorded. Ultimately, this music, this whole album, is something that I’ll be able to look back on in a decade or two and be really proud of the way it turned out.”
Each of the three released songs showcase different parts of the duo’s growing artistry. On, “Save Me The Trouble,” the singers take the listener on a journey both lyrically and melodically. According to the artists, the song was created to get bigger and bigger as the song progresses. “We wanted to have something that was a real moment, and when we started writing this, it felt like it could be something big. I wanted every section to build, and even in the second chorus, when you’re like, ‘Okay, there’s no way it could possibly get any crazier,’ then Shay takes off even further.”
On “Heartbreak On The Map,” Dan + Shay lean into their country roots. The song is poetic and pensive in nature. However, the true standout of the three songs is the title track, “Bigger Houses.” The song is an all too relatable song about the notion that “the grass isn’t always greener on the other side” and sometimes we have to just be present and count our blessings. Dan + Shay cement the notion that life is all about who you love and not what you have.
This sneak peak of the Bigger Houses LP did its job! The singles keep fans excited for more and more music, and it is clear this album is going to be an incredible one for Dan + Shay!

Hailey Whitters is back with another fabulously bright song just in time for summer. Read below as we dig deeper into the track.
When Hailey Whitters released her sophomore album The Dream in 2020, she flawlessly introduced listeners into an equal parts glittery and gritty Midwestern, Heartland, and authentically country world that only she could create. Her new song “I’m In Love”, off her forthcoming EP of the same name, dives deeper into that universe.
“Tips in the apron // Hair’s in a braid // Mercury’s all in retrograde // Silver in the spoon // No blue in his blood // He’s in Levi’s // I’m in love”
The song is chock full of amazing imagery, with a line like “two bottles in to a bottle of wine” in the chorus. Whitters and her producer husband Jake Gear successfully capture the lyrics with the sweet sounds of mandolin, banjo, and summer.
Whitters is one of the best songwriters making music right now, so when she takes an outside cut, it is safe to say the song will be fantastic. “I knew the minute I heard this song I had to record it. I didn’t write it (Nicolle Galyon, Lee Miller, & Cameron Bedell did), but I wish I had. I love – pun intended – the quirky language and spirit. Every time I sing it I’m smiling like a big ol sap because it just makes me so happy and puts me in a good mood.”
The I’m In Love EP, which follows her junior album Raised is out July 28th. With a lead single like “I’m In Love” fans are in for a treat as we get to know Hailey Whitters even more. She is truly a one-of-a-kind artist, and it is exciting to see her artistic evolution unfolding before our eyes.

Alana Springsteen is an artist to look out for. For her debut album, Springsteen chose to split the record into three parts, giving specific groups of songs in each edition. Today, part 2 of her debut record, Twenty Something: Figuring It Out is officially here, featuring six brand new songs for fans to fall in love with.
While Messing It Upwas heartbreaking and emotional, Figuring It Out has some edge to it. It feels like an elevated, more mature version of Springsteen. The record kicks off with the title track “twenty something,” one of the best on the project. The song speaks to growing up and all of the nuances. “twenty something” embodies the true heart of the record. Young adulthood is messy, but special, something this album conveys beautifully.
Next-up, “chameleon” is a song about insecurity masked with an edgy and catchy melody. Springsteen sings about shape-shifting to fit the needs of a guy she is trying to gain approval from. With lines like “I rather lie than be lonely” and “my defense mechanism is never really letting you know me,” it is clear that the songstress knows what it feels like to guard her heart.
The introspective honesty is on full display throughout the record, especially on “when we were friends.” Written by the songstress with Sasha Alex Sloan and Pete Good, “when we were friends” is a song for anyone who has ever gone through a friendship break-up. While romantic break-ups are common topic in music across genres, it is rare that an artist touches on the unique pain and heartbreak that comes from losing a friend. “when we were friends” brings the authenticity and nostalgia that friendships often bring.
Springsteen brings a celebratory and unapologetic vibe to the new album with “here’s to all my exes” and “hypocrite.” The former is an anthemic song about all the lessons learned from dating and romantic relationships. The song is the embodiment of growth, and the perfect track to have on a record called Figuring It Out. Similarly, on “hypocrite” Springsteens sings about life’s nuances.
On the final track, “ghost in my guitar,” the singer-songwriter enlists the help of Chris Stapleton, who lends his guitar skills to the incredible country song. The edgy and vibey song is a heartbreak song disguised by strong vocals and alluring lyrics.
Springsteen is the real deal! Twenty Something: Figuring It Out is an incredible accompaniment to the singer’s growing catalog of music.

Platinum-selling country artist, Tyler Farr is officially back with brand new music. Today, the singer-songwriter releases his brand new EP, Rednecks Like Me, featuring six songs that feel distinctly Tyler Farr.
“This is the first project I’ve co-wrote all the songs on, so this is a big step in my career for me,” shared the rising artist in a recent press release. “I’m so proud of this album and hope fans will really get a chance to hear what I’m all about.”
The record kicks off with summer-ready single, the title-track. “Rednecks Like Me” is a song that reminds us all to celebrate being American, our roots, and those who serve our country each and every day. Farr using the term “rednecks” to describe all who are patriotic, no matter where they reside. A more rugged version of a blue-collar anthem is also evident on the only collaboration on the project, “Country As Shit,” featuring Jelly Roll.
Farr continues to celebrate country-living throughout the record. On “Tell You ‘Bout That,” the singer leans all the way in. While the song is full of country staples like backroads, hunting, shooting, cold beer, and fishing, Farr finds a way to breathe new life into the topics. It is clear the singer actually lived the life.
On “Questions,” the rising artist showcases his softer side. Reminiscent of his hit single, “A Guy Walks Into a Bar,” “Questions” is an incredible storytelling song. Seemingly inspired by his role as a father, Farr pours his heart into this beautiful track, singing about all the questions his daughter may ask one day about his imperfect path.
Another standout track on the record is “Silverado Gold.” Written by the singer with Blake Bollinger, Nate Kenyon, and Katie Noel, the artist leans back into nostalgia. The song feels anthemic and nostalgic, two qualities that country music often boasts.
Farr continues the honesty with quite possibly our favorite song on the record, “First Rodeo.” The song expresses a new perspective on a break-up. While the protagonist has dealt with a break-up many times before, it is clear that there is no space for graveling, games or apologies with the demise of this relationship. The notion is evident with the lyric, “Save your games and your sorries, believe me I already know. Girl, I ain’t no damn cowboy, but this ain’t my first rodeo.”
Overall, the Rednecks Like Me EP is everything fans could want from Farr. It is clear he knows exactly who he is as an artist, and each of the six songs are the perfect re-introduction to his music and talent.

Incredibly talented, family-trio, Track45 are sharing their brand new EP today. Since jumping into the music scene, Track45 have created a sound that is all their own, featuring killer harmonies and relatable lyrics. Their brand new EP, Grew Up On is a true extension of that.
The project features six songs including their recent single releases, “Family,” “Hate Me”, and “Last Man In Tennessee.” While “Family” is a heartfelt song about friends who turn into family, “Hate Me” and “Last Man In Tennessee” are both heartbreak anthems in their own right. On, “Hate Me,” the trio lean into all the feelings associated with a situation-ship; however, “Last Man In Tennessee,” is all about regaining your power after a break-up.
On the brand new songs, Track45 lean into different parts of their hearts and rising talents. The record’s opening song, “Drinkin and Thinkin” features similar vibes to “Hate Me,” as they sing about the effects of heartbreak and everything in between. Similarly on “PCH,” Track45 leans into the storytelling aspect of their songwriting. The song feels nostalgic and introspective.
Finally, our favorite song on the project, the title track, “Grew Up On,” speaks to everything the trio are about. The song is a true expression of love for the life they have lived so far. It feels nostalgic, relatable, and incredibly authentic. With the core message being, ‘Cause you never outgrow what you grew up on,’ Track45 shares exactly why they make country music – it was a true part of their upbringing.

One of the best parts of country music is the storytelling that exists in many songs and records. Ryan Griffin’s music is a part of that narrative. The singer-songwriter released his brand new EP, cleverly titled, Phases, out today.
In the video above about the EP, Griffin shares the inspiration for the record. “I think in life we go through this journey trying to find love and in life there’s a lot of ups and downs. There’s a lot of heartbreak and disappointment that comes with it, and if you look at the tracklisting on the EP, it takes you through that journey.”
The EP paints an incredible picture of the journey of finding love, from heartbreak to a steady relationship and everything in between.

Big Loud Records recording artist, Stephen Wilson Jr. is back with even more music for fans to enjoy. The singer-songwriter creates music that speaks to his upbringing, his relationship with his father, love, and everything in between. Wilson Jr. announced that his debut double album, søn of dad is slated to be released September 15th. Fans can checkout two of the songs off the record, “Mighty Beast” and “All The Wars From Now On,” now.
“Writing and making this album has been very therapeutic for me to learn who I am and what my existence looks like after my father. Because life has to go on,” Wilson Jr. shared in a recent press release. “I’m living my own life, but it’s like his death bookended what life he should have had onto mine and I’m carrying it around like a train car.”
Both new songs touch on experience that evoked emotions in the singer. “Mighty Beast” was written during pandemic times, while, “All The Wars From Now On” was inspired by the singer’s late grandfather, a Korean War Veteran. Each of the two songs give fans a taste of what the new project will have to offer. Wilson Jr. is a true artist among singers in the country music landscape.

Dylan Marlowe shares brand new EP, Dirt Road When I Die, out now, July 7th on all streaming platforms. Listen to the new EP now.
Since making his major-label debut in January, Dylan Marlowe has been impressing fans across the country. The singer-songwriter had a knack for creating modern music that resonates across the genre. Today, his brand new project, Dirt Road When I Die is officially out featuring eight songs.
The new EP kicks off perfectly with Marlowe’s debut single, “Record High.” On the previously released track, the singer proves how talented of an artist he is. Easily a song that any established artist would love to cut, “Record High” is one of those special songs that cement the talent of an up and coming artist.
Dirt Road When I Die EP is full of those types of songs. From songs like “Record High” to touching songs for his wife like “You Were Right (Nat’s Song)” and everything in between, Marlowe proves his staying power. On the latter track, Marlowe tugs at the listeners’ heartstrings. “You Were Right” is quite possibly the engagement song of the year.
Marlowe’s songwriting talent continues to be on full display on songs like “Grew Up Country” and “Empty Shotgun (Mr. Mechanic).” Both songs showcase the singer’s fresh and authentic approach to music. “Grew Up Country” is Marlowe’s love letter to his hometown, while “Empty Shotgun” is a heart-wrenching, yet beautiful break-up song.
“Ain’t like there’s nothing in the tank // It’s full of 87 // I don’t think it’s what you think // Yeah, this thing runs like heaven // If you wanna know why // I can’t drive // When I climb in this truck // Yeah, it’s got a cab full of memories // And an empty shotgun”
Marlowe’s new songs, “What I Know Now,” the title track, and “Rich Kids” are impressive additions to the singer’s growing catalog of music. “What I Know Now” belongs on the radio because of its relatability and catchy melody, while “Rich Kids” is true, bottled up nostalgia in song-form. However, the title track, “Dirt Road When I Die” is a true standout on the EP. The song is a perfect accompaniment to “Grew Up Country.”
Although his career is still young, Marlowe proves with each and every release that he can hang with the best of them. The singer-songwriter knows how to craft a meaningful lyric and relays each message he writes with incredible ability and authentic vulnerability. Dirt Road When I Die EP is a solid record that deserves every fan it earns him!
