Zach John King Collaborates with Bayker Blakenship on “Life Behind Bars”

Zach John King and Bayker Blankenship collaborate on new song, “Life Behind Bars”, out now, July 25th, on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new track below.

Time and time again, we commend country music collaborations. Today, two up and coming artists are giving us a catchy and clever brand new collaboration to listen to. Personally, it’s already one of my favorites of 2025!  Zach John King and Bayker Blankenship’s new song, “Life Behind Bars” is officially out today!

“I wrote Life Behind Bars with Heath Warren and Jordan Reynolds. When Jordan first pitched the title, I thought we were writing a song about jail, but it turned out to be about something way better: the kind of nights you spend behind a closed-down dive bar with your people,” shared King in a recent press release. “As soon as I heard that, my mind went straight to my hometown. There was a spot called Wings and Things, and after every home football game, everyone would meet up there – just a bunch of us circled up in the parking lot, hanging out, telling stories, making memories. I remember exactly what that parking lot looked like and the kind of people who showed up. That’s what this song is about. Small-town life after the lights go out and the bar closes down.”

The clever wordplay in this song is unmatched. While the song may appear to be about one thing when looking at the title, “Life Behind Bars” is actually a perfect nostalgic song. It appears to mean a lot to both of the singers. King and Blakenship trade verses, adding an incredible depth to the already catchy song.

Make sure to go listen to “Life Behind Bars” ASAP!

Both singers felt the song’s potential almost instantly. “As soon as I wrote this song, I knew it’d be a powerful duet. It took me a while to find the perfect voice for it, but one day I came across Emily Ann on social media and I loved her sound. So I just hopped in her DMs and asked if she’d collab with me! It’s been amazing to work with her on this song,” shared Baldridge in a recent press release.

“If it was us against the world // Well, I’d take a knee to show you what your worth // If it’s been days since I slept // I’d still love you girl, like we’re all that’s left // If I was young, well I’d take the risk // So would you hold me now, until you saw that kid // If it gets late and all is white // All I’d care is if you made it home tonight // And I’m so deep in this ocean now // Girl you’ll haunt me ’til I’m six feet in the ground // You once loved me, but I never can go back // So damn lonely, you were everything I had // But if you’re home tonight // Well I, I’ll be alright”

“Home Tonight” officially kicks off a new era of music for Barber. Make sure to go listen to it ASAP, and stay tuned for the seven-song project coming out next month!

The track is another 10 star addition to Rhett’s catalog.

Finally, on this trio of music, the singer adds “Bottle With Your Name On It.” “Bottle With Your Name On It” is an upbeat jam! Embodying the essence of Bruno Mars in a countrified way, Rhett brings the heat on this stage-ready track.
