Dustin Lynch Taps MacKenzie Porter for “Thinking ‘Bout You” Collab

Dustin Lynch’s “Thinking ‘Bout You” with MacKenzie Porter is available now, March 19th, on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

Last year, Dustin Lynch released his Tullahoma album which included a smashing duet with Lauren Alaina. Now, he re-released “Thinking ‘Bout You” as a single, featuring rising pop-country artist MacKenzie Porter.

The lyrics set the scene of a phone call between two exes reminiscing on their past. Lynch opens the verse and is pleasantly surprised by the call, citing it as “the last call I thought I’d get”. He goes on to ask different questions, such as how she is and how her mother is. In general, the story has vivid imagery, and it continues to build to a booming chorus.

“I was just thinking ’bout that weekend out on Cumberland Lake // And that one time in Baton Rouge when we made out in the rain // Where we went chasing falling stars // On a hill at your daddy’s farm // Don’t be sorry for callin’ me up right out of the blue // I was just thinking ’bout you”

When Porter comes in during the second verse, the song immediately has a different vibe. Lauren Alaina, who previously sang this verse, sounded more nostalgic, while Porter sounds more direct and more almost daring towards Lynch. It gives the song a whole new life. The two of them on the chorus sound really great together, and by the time they reach the last chorus, their voices truly soar.

“Thinking ‘Bout You” has an almost addictive groove to it. The second you hear it, you want to hear it again and again. It’s a perfect song to soundtrack your spring and summer – and hopefully soon, it’ll be amazing at a live show. For now, it’s the perfect piece of candy we need to get through the last few cold weeks of the season.

Brett Sheroky Releases Captivating New Song “4 Goodyears”

Brett Sheroky’s new song, “4 Goodyears” is available now, March 19th, on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

Songwriter turned artist, Brett Sheroky is one of the most impressive vocalists and lyricists in the country music genre today. His previous songs “Better On Paper” and “Ain’t My Place” are emotive, captivating, and story-telling at it’s finest. His latest song, out today, “4 Goodyears” is another song that you cannot help but simply appreciate.

“4 Goodyears” is another example of why Sheroky is an exemplary songwriter and talent. His knack for telling the truth and sharing stories in songs reminds us exactly why we love this genre. The song takes us through the journey of a whirlwind love story, “going wherever the wind blows.”

Sheroky uses clever wordplay as he reminisces about a summer fling and the truck that sat on four goodyear tires that played a major role in those 3 memorable months together.

“Headlights off in an empty field // July moon in the windshield // Handprints and fogged up glass // God, I wish I could just reach back // to that rearview mirror // to those 3 good months // on those 4 goodyears”

Lyrically, the song is a masterpiece, and the nostalgia that the tune embodies is almost palpable. The love the song portrays feels hopeful, young, and innocent, even though the couple did not prevail in the end. These feelings are hard to articulate when the end isn’t what you hope for, but the singer does it effortlessly.

Overall, Sheroky is one of those singer-songwriters that truly is an artist at his core. There is no one like him in the genre, and we applaud his continuous individualism and overall impressive talent.

We love supporting our local New York/New Jersey country artists, and Lauren Davidson is one of our favorites on the scene. Following the success of her last single, “Live In The Light,” the songstress just released a brand new song entitled “Backfire.”

The new single was written by Davidson with Adam McDonough. “Backfire” is a song that expresses both the good and bad in life. In fact, the singer-songwriter shares having faith in the future, but knowing that there’s going to be hardships along the way that she will overcome. The very realistic approach to life is both inspiring and uplifting at the same time, especially in current times.

I light the match and wait for the backfire // Watch it burn so fast feel the flames grow higher // With every breath that I’m holding // I’m holding out for my moment // I light the match and wait for the backfire // Wait for the backfire”

According to Davidson via her social media, “the song is about rising from the ashes when things don’t go your way and making your own spark.” The track is our first introduction to the singer’s upcoming EP entitled Highlight Is 2020, slated for release later in the year.

Alana Springsteen Joins Forces with Roman Alexander on New Song “Trying Not To”

Alana Springsteen’s new song, “Trying Not To” with Roman Alexander is available now, March 19th, on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

Back in July, we interviewed a promising new talent in Nashville, Alana Springsteen. Her pop-country sound resonates with young country fans everywhere, but it was her duet “Think About You” with Filmore that stopped us dead in our tracks. Today, the songstress released another mesmerizing duet with fellow country artist, Roman Alexander. Together they created a brand new song called “Trying Not To.”

After sharing sneak peeks of the song across their social media channels, especially on TikTok, it was clear that both Springsteen and Alexander feel this new song is something special, and we agree. “Trying Not To” taps into those feelings of when you are trying to stay away from someone, but you just keep getting pulled in. That magnetism you feel is undeniable; despite, what your brain is telling you.

“But I still think about you baby // I wish it didn’t feel so right // I really wanna // tell you I don’t miss you / and really mean it / I just can’t though / I want to / but I’m trying not to”

This song honestly has the potential to be a summer anthem of just following your heart. It is clear that both Springsteen and Alexander believe in the song and its story. We’re excited to see what’s next for the two emerging artists.

Filmore’s new song, “Good Thing” is available now, March 19th on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

Singer-songwriter, Filmore just released his massive, 18-track, debut album, State I’m In back in September and now he’s already back with brand new music with the release of “Good Thing”.

In this pop-country post-break-up song, the subject reminisces on an old relationship and starts to question and possibly regret ending things. He wishes he knew how great he had it when he was with this girl.

“We had a good thing, baby // we had an almost maybe // we had forever, in our hearts, from the start // but sometimes ‘meant to be’ falls apart”

Filmore had a hand in writing the track along with co-writers Zach Abend and Geoff Warburton.

Breakups were the focal point of Filmore’s latest album, and he continues to tell his story through this new track. “Good Thing” will likely be the lead single to an upcoming EP.

FGL’s Tyler Hubbard Teams Up with Lathan Warlick on “My Way”

Lathan Warlick and Tyler Hubbard’s new song, “My Way” is available now, March 19th on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

Trap-country is gaining more and more traction across the country music world and beyond. As the subgenre breaks ground, Tennessee-native, Lathan Warlick has teamed up with Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard in a new song titled “My Way”. Warlick blends a thumping bass and a banjo together while including his faith into the mix. Hubbard is no stranger to this style of music, as he has been incorporating elements of hip-hop and Christian in his music since the very beginning of Florida Georgia Line.

Although musically it could arguably resemble a hip-hop track, “My Way” could easily fit into a country tailgate playlist. It’s a feel-good tune about taking in life and enjoying it to the fullest. Hubbard takes the second verse and sings the choruses and Warlick delivers the rest.

“If I had my way, every day would be a Friday // we’d be riding with the windows down // If I had it my way, I’d hit 100 on the highway // with the radio turned up loud”

“With this single, we really had it our way,” Warlick shares in a recent press release. “It was so great working with Tyler! This song is how we’d both spend our Friday, living free and having fun.”

“I’m team Lathan all day – I was a huge fan before, and I feel like I have a new brother after this,” Hubbard added. “We wanted to write a fun one that had a good, positive feel. It’s a summer jam. I just envision everybody riding around with the windows down, blasting this song, and forgetting all their worries for a little bit.”

Lathan Warlick and Tyler Hubbard’s new song “My Way” is available now, March 19th

Warlick has been making music for over six years but doesn’t want to assign himself to one genre, referring to himself as a “positive artist.” He recently left his job of eight years at the railroad to pursue a full-time music career. Like so many artists these days, he rose to fame on TikTok, creating custom rap verses to popular songs such as “Holy” by Justin Bieber and Chance the Rapper, “You Say” by Lauren Daigle, “Hello” by Adele, along with manny others.

Country-star, Granger Smith took notice of Warlick’s rise and reached out to him to create a verse to his song, “That’s Why I Love Dirt Roads,” which was released last June. After signing with Columbia Records, Warlick has put out two songs, “Over Yonder” with Matt Stell and “Roots” with RaeLynn. These two tracks, along with “My Way,” will all be a part of his first major-label project, which will also feature other country stars such as Lauren Alaina, Dustin Lynch, and Russell Dickerson.

While Hubbard’s long-time partner, Brian Kelley works on his solo project, he will continue to collaborate with other artists, already having written and featured on Tim McGraw’s “Undivided” this year.

Gabby Barrett Celebrates Debut Album With ‘Live From The Goldmine’ EP

Gabby Barrett celebrates her debut album with a live version of seven tracks from the original record in a project called Live from the Goldmine EP, officially available today, March 16th on all streaming platforms.

In the wake of all country music fans and entertainers desperately missing live music, rising singer-songwriter Gabby Barrett delivers! After much success with her debut record Goldmine, including a number one hit single with “I Hope” and a top ten and rising song with “The Good Ones,” the country music songstress decided to give us the second best thing to a live show, a live version of some fan-favorites off her original project in a new EP entitled Live from the Goldmine.

Barrett’s project begins with live renditions of her songs “Footprints On The Moon” and “Rose Needs A Jack.” The former personifies her journey as a country artist, sharing her grit and charm as an artist in the celebratory tune. On the other hand, “Rose Needs A Jack,” an obvious play on Titanic is a fun-loving song with stellar lyrics. On both tracks, Barrett’s incredible songwriting is on full display.

The new Mom also includes “Jesus & My Mama” and one of our favorites, “Thank God.” The song shares the venerable journey of trials and tribulations both in Nashville as an artist and in a relationship. Ultimately, she thanks God for leading her to a life that she can truly say she has fallen in love with.

“Thank God for the hangups and the breakups // And the wake-up, make-up tears on my pillowcase // The all wrongs and the almosts // And the all-time lows all took me to the way”

Of course, no project would be quite complete without Barrett’s current single, “The Good Ones” and her record-breaking hit, “I Hope.” Both songs showcase different sides of the singer’s multi-dimensional personality. “The Good Ones” is a victory song for love and good men, while “I Hope” is the exact opposite. It is a sassy, no-bull, powerhouse tune, proving that no one should mess with the strong and incredible Barrett.

The record culminates with the live recording of “Goldmine,” a song that truly wraps up the project in such a way that makes it feel finished. “Goldmine,” the title track of her debut album and the only song that Barrett did not have a hand in writing is one of those tracks that feels reminiscent of 90s country and early Carrie Underwood at the same time. The song fits Barrett’s range perfectly.

Prior to the release of Goldmine, NYCountry Swag caught up with Barrett for a virtual interview to chat about the record, her songwriting, and her incredible career so far. Check it out in the video below.

If this record does not convince you to see Barrett live the second you can, then we do not know what will. She continues to prove her staying power again and again, and it is only a matter of time until “The Good Ones” lands the top spot on the country charts!

Miranda Lambert Re-Releases Raw Version of Award-Winning “Tin Man”

Miranda Lambert just released a new, raw version of her award-winning hit song “Tin Man” as part of The Marfa Tapes with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

County music superstar Miranda Lambert has joined forces with fellow musicians, Jack Ingram and Jon Randall on a brand new record entitled THE MARFA TAPES, slated to come out on May 7th. The record is a culmination of intimate songs that the threesome wrote and recorded together in the tiny town of Marfa, Texas.

Last week, the singer-songwriters released the first track off the record, a song called “In His Arms”. Now, the trio is sharing the new version of the fan-favorite and award-winning Lambert song, “Tin Man”, which the trio penned together.

Staying true with the style of the record, the new version of “Tin Man” is broken down, raw, acoustic, and mesmerizing. Lambert sings about heartbreak in a brand new way, allowing her vulnerability to come across with every lyric. Back in 2016, when the original song was released, we thought the songstress’ pain came shining through, but this version is the real deal. The acoustic performance of “Tin Man” puts Lambert’s vocal talent on a pedestal, and takes the listener back in time with her.

“Hey there, Mr. Tin Man // You don’t know how lucky you are // I’ve been on the road that you’re on // It didn’t get me very far // You ain’t missing nothing // ‘Cause love is so damn hard // Take it from me, darling // You don’t want a heart”

At the end of the song, fans also get to hear the threesome in the studio, chatting about how they felt that cut went. It’s clear that Lambert, Ingram, and Randall are in the zone when they come together to create music. If “Tin Man” and “In His Arms” is any hint at what THE MARFA TAPES as a whole will sound like, then us country fans are in for a real treat.

Darius Rucker Releases Brand New Song “My Masterpiece”

Darius Rucker’s new song, “My Masterpiece” is available now, March 12th on all streaming platforms. Written by Rucker with J.T. Harding, Josh Osborne, and Ross Copperman, take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

Just a few weeks after Darius Rucker’s single “Beers And Sunshine” earned him his 10th #1 song, the singer-songwriter is back with a new release. “My Masterpiece” is an enticing follow-up to the feel-good chart-topper.

The new song depicts love as the be-all, end-all, and we are honestly smitten by the story. The fact that the same foursome made up of songwriters Darius Rucker, J.T. Harding, Josh Osborne, and Ross Copperman, can pen a fun-loving song like “Beers And Sunshine” and a more intimate, heartfelt song like “My Masterpiece,” just shows the power of songwriters in Nashville.

“I never had a silver spoon // I didn’t grow up in a castle // I never walked on the moon // I’ll never paint a Sistine Chapel // I can’t play piano like Ray Charles // But baby when my life is through // I hope they say my masterpiece is loving you”

With a rhythm made for slow dancing all night long, “My Masterpiece” paints images of how it feels to be with your person. Interestingly enough, the song was inspired by a quarantine interview.

One of the most common questions I got asked last year was if I had picked up a new hobby during quarantine,” shares the three-time GRAMMY winner in a recent press release. I always answered that I was trying to learn piano, and someone asked if I was any good yet. J.T. Harding heard my response in that interview’ I cant play piano like Ray Charles’ – and knew we had to write a song around that line,” shared Rucker in a recent press release.

Rucker continues to impress us with his talent, poise, and his signature voice. We anticipate that his upcoming new record is going to be one that fans all across the world fall in love with.
