Florida Georgia Line and Nelly Reunite for New Song “Lil Bit”

Florida Georgia Line and Nelly teamed up for a brand new song, “Lil Bit” available now, October 23rd, on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

“Cruise” was arguably the song that defined the “bro-country” era in the 2010s. When rapper and singer-songwriter Nelly joined Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley on the remix, it gained popularity and helped skyrocket the song to the top of the charts, holding the number one spot for 24 straight weeks. Now in 2020, Nelly reunites with the CMA-nominated Duo of the Year on the brand new track, “Lil Bit”.

Unlike “Cruise,” this song leans more heavily into rap than country. Nelly raps the verses and pre-chorus and Hubbard and Kelley come in for the chorus. A banjo joins the hip-hop beat to give it a country element and create an interesting and unique sound. Hubbard and Nelly wrote this track with Jordan Schmidt and Blake Redferrin.

Take me to the country , show me where your from / I said Shawty you gon’ love me and we gon’ have some fun / I’ll break out my big wheel and you can climb on up / Girl, I think you a big deal, now show your boy some love / Huh, just a lil’ bit

It is unlikely this will get a lot of country radio airtime, but it could be a fun song for Florida Georgia Line to mix into their live sets when concerts finally do return. For Nelly, “Lil Bit” is his third country feature of 2020, along with “Good Times Roll” with Jimmie Allen and “Cool Again” with Kane Brown. He has also collaborated with Tim McGraw in the past and recorded his own version of Thomas Rhett’s “Die a Happy Man.”

Chris Stapleton Paints Arkansas As Party Destination With New Release “Arkansas”

Chris Stapleton’s new song, “Arkansas” is available now, October 28th, on all streaming platforms. Inspired by a recent drive across the state, take a look below as we dive deeper into the track.

Chris Stapleton Arkansas

Chris Stapleton is most definitely an icon of modern country music, and his releases continue to live up to the throne he’s on. With a strong electric guitar intro, and the first line coming completely unexpectedly, Stapleton makes sure that you hear this song and listen to him. His unique voice and depth of graininess in tone never fail to relay the bootstrapped version of country so many of his fans know all too well.

Inspired by a recent trip Stapleton and his wife took across the state, he paints a picture of everyone there having a ball and that the fun is so outlandish, it might just be against the law. The mention of the Ozark mountains colors an image that anyone could long for, and with the added mention of a good time, sounds sure to make an impression.

“Well, we burned through the one light towns like a scalded dog / When we lit out of Fayetteville, they were callin’ the hogs / We made a pit stop in Little Rock for some barbecue / And when we hit West Memphis there were blue lights in our rearview”

Maybe Arkansas really is the place to visit, driving the open roads, windows down, with “Arkansas” itself playing. This song will be included on his upcoming album Starting Over, out Nov. 13.

Thomas Rhett Collaborates with Teddy Swims on New Song “Broke”

Thomas Rhett collaborates with Teddy Swims on a new rendition of “Broke” which is available now, October 23rd, on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

There is nothing like a cross-genre collaboration! Country superstar with undeniable pop appeal, Thomas Rhett joined talented singer-songwriter Teddy Swims on a remix of his song “Broke”. Swims is an undefined artist that truly dabbles in all genres. Together the two redefine music boundaries and give fans a complete smash.

“Broke” is one of those songs that you cannot help but smile when you listen to it. The original version was a Motown inspired tune, but Rhett countrified the song with his twangy vocals. All about getting used to the finer things in life and frivolous spending, the duo is an unexpected pair that end up working together effortlessly.

Canaan Smith Releases Brand New Song “Cabin In The Woods”

Canaan Smith’s new song “Cabin in the Woods” is the latest single release for his upcoming project due out early next year. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

The Platinum-certified #1 “Love You Like That” singer, Canaan Smith, has released a brand new single “Cabin in the Woods” to add to his upcoming collection due out early next year. As his second release this year, following “Colder Than You” back in June, Smith seems to have found a specific sound. Matched with consistent help from Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley through production over the last two years, this new project from Smith seems to be an exciting, artistic development.

“Cabin in the Woods” opens up with birds chirping to create the basic, solitary environment of nature. As the song grows into itself and the lyrics begin to tell a story, the listeners are given a sense of reflection. The track acts as a celebration by honoring the old cabin in the woods through highlights of the best memories and past-times made there.

Canaan Smith's New Song "Cabin In The Woods" is available now, October 23rd.

Canaan Smith’s New Song “Cabin In The Woods” is available now, October 23rd.

“At that old cabin in the woods sitting down by the river / On a September night, I’ll always remember / We were sippin’ round the fire singing old John Denver / Life was feeling good / At that old cabin in the woods / We were young, beer was cold / At that old cabin in the woods”

“I love music that makes me feel something, and this one definitely puts me in a place of nostalgia,” Smith explains in a recent press release. “I’ve made some of my favorite memories out in the woods, and this opportunity to put music out that reflects what I love is what’s most important to me right now. I hope everyone enjoys listening to it as much as I did making it.”

Smith, a Tree Vibez songwriter who has penned cuts for Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line, Cole Swindell, and more, grants fans with a hint of the security and peace that the wilderness often provides through “Cabin in the Woods”. The new single allows for a moment of escape, no matter where you are listening, and acts as a reminder that there are constants such as memories and the woods to create a sense of tranquility.

Drew Parker ‘While You’re Gone’ EP Review

Drew Parker’s songs on While You’re Gone formally introduce listeners to the artist through a full collection of music. Learn more about the project below.

After four single releases that led up to this highly-anticipated project, Drew Parker has officially released While You’re Gone. In fact, this EP comes just seven days shy of the one year anniversary of the first single, “Party in the Back”, that introduced this new chapter of music. Now, the fourth track on the setlist that was linguistically created by the artist himself along with Ray Fulcher and Thomas Archer, is joined with some of the best productions that traditional country music has to offer with a wide range of emotions in tow.

“Party in the Back” is playful and clever for the recognition of Billy Ray Cyrus’ 1992 hit “Achy Breaky Heart” and calling attention to his mullet of the decade. While others, such as “I Was Lying” that acted as the second single release to tease this collection, touched on a softer side. This one, written by Adam Craig and Parker, denotes a scenario in which lying through a breakup is easier than facing the truth.

Drew Parker

The title track “While You’re Gone”, is more of a broad, outsider’s perspective of a recent goodbye while the story in “I Was Lying”, sums up this versatile project in a simple way by showcasing all sides of the artist in one take. There’s rough-edged vocals as well as vulnerable notes incorporated throughout. And, the strength from this Georgia musician is generously portrayed through the EP. While You’re Gone is a promising, exciting displayal of growth and maturity from Parker. Each cut is as successfully executed as the next.

As the newest SiriusXM “Highway Find” artist, Parker sets the bar high for upcoming country acts. With an incredibly honest song “The Runway”, that ended up being a premature tribute for his now 6-month old daughter, and all adjoining numbers, While You’re Gone provides listeners with the idea that country music has another breakthrough artist in their midst.

Dolly Parton’s Collaborative “Pink” Supports Fight Against Breast Cancer

As we honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month each and every October, this year female powerhouses Dolly Parton, Monica, Jordin Sparks, Rita Wilson, and Sara Evans have come together to help the fight with their new song “Pink”. This special collaboration benefits Susan G. Komen®, the world’s leading breast cancer organization.

When we think about breast cancer, most of us likely associate the color pink with it. This track helps us imagine a day where pink goes back to being just a color. Written by Erin Kinsey, Jodi Marr, and Victoria Shaw, each superstar showcases their voice during each verse and all five come together perfectly for the chorus. Combing country, pop, and R&B, this is a beautiful ballad that not only shows how beautifully mixing artists from different genres can be, but it also gives us hope that hopefully one day we’ll be able to find a cure to the terrible disease.

This song is for everyone who has been affected by breast cancer, which, unfortunately, with one in eight women being diagnosed with the disease each year and taking away more than 42,000 lives annually, it’s not uncommon that we all have been somehow affected. It’s also a great reminder that even with everything else this year has brought us, the fight to stop breast cancer is still ongoing and continues to need support.

“You gotta believe without seeing\You gotta keep going, keep breathing\ When you face a day that feels like you’re gonna break\ Lean on the ones that love you\ The guardian angels above you\ And think about when pink was just another color”

In a recent press release, Parton shared what recording the song meant to her. “This is such a beautiful song of hope. I’m honored to join with these powerful women to help support Susan G. Komen’s life-saving work.”

Wilson, a breast cancer survivor herself, shared what she loves about doing the project. “The song is not just for someone who is a survivor or going through breast cancer treatment, it is for anyone who loves someone who has been impacted by breast cancer. That’s why I love this song.”

While the fight against breast cancer may not be over yet, “Pink” gives us a reason to believe we will be there one day.

Garth Brooks Releases “Shallow” with His Wife, Trisha Yearwood

Garth Brooks’ “Shallow” with Trisha Yearwood acts as the latest single to his soon-to-be-released studio album Fun, out November 20th. Read about the track here.

Garth Brooks Shallow

Garth Brooks, the newly announced Billboard Musical Icon, and best-selling solo artist in U.S. history, is gearing up for two album releases due out November 20th. Fun, which marks Brooks’ twelfth studio album, will feature a cover of “Shallow” with wife and multi-award winning country artist, Trisha Yearwood. The track, released through Amazon Music, has now been dubbed as the latest single from the “Friends in Low Places” singer which devoted listeners practically arranged for themselves.

Due to a fan’s request during a live Facebook performance and, again, on their CBS Special ‘Garth & Trisha Live!’, their rendition of the A Star Is Born’s “Shallow” has received high praise and an overwhelming amount of attention. “From the moment Ms. Yearwood and I first performed ’Shallow’ we have just had so much FUN with performing it, and so have the fans, that it just felt right to share this with country radio,” explained Brooks in a press release. “Getting to sing this duet with the queen is really special and it’s nice way to work up to the release of my album FUN coming out next month.”

“Shallow”, which has been held on a pedestal since the film’s release in October 2018, is a common cover song that showcases diverse takes with a variety of different musicians. Danielle Bradbery and Parker McCollum, for instance, were one of the first partnerships on the number with a more soft, stripped down version. Now, Brooks, alongside Yearwood, adds a bit of country twang and relaxed, mature overtones.

Check out their first performance of “Shallow” here.

Alongside upcoming album Fun, Brooks is set to release Triple Live Deluxe that includes 30 hits from the Garth Brooks’ World Tour with Yearwood as well as the 2019 Stadium Tour. The release date, that has been designated for the same day as Fun, allows listeners to spoil themselves in the tangible, infectious energy that Brooks executes through production.

Alex Hall Announces Debut EP + Drops New Song with John Osborne

Alex Hall announced his debut EP, ‘Six Strings’, due out early 2021, and released his first track, “Jealous Love” featuring John Osborne, available now, October 23rd, on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

Alex Hall, a new artist with Monument Records, has begun to introduce his upcoming EP Six Strings that is due out early next year. The project, a collaborative one, features an impressive line-up of talent as additional country acts such as Tenille Townes, Brad Tursi of Old Dominion, Vince Gill, Kassi Ashton, and Brad Paisley join Hall on the EP.

Revealing the debut project today, October 23rd, Hall released a first look at the collection of songs with the brand new track “Jealous Love” which acts as the first single off the record and features John Osborne of the take-it-or-leave-it individualistic duo, Brothers Osborne.

“It’s such an honor to play and sing alongside my friends and heroes on the Six Strings EP. I’m so proud of this body of music, and I can’t wait for the world to hear it!” Hall shares in a recent press release.

To start off this new chapter of music, “Jealous Love” is an electric, dynamic production that adds energy to all environments in which it is played. The chemistry between Hall and Osborne seeps off the record enough to consider expanding the multi-nominated duo Brothers Osborne, who recently released their third studio album Skeletons on October 9th, and adopting Hall into the band.

Alex Hall's "Jealous Love" featuring John Osborne is out now, October 23rd.

Alex Hall’s “Jealous Love” featuring John Osborne is out now, October 23rd.

“Dancing in the neon light / Got every head turned, hypnotized / k, kiss me spin around / And make ’em jealous love / Run your fingers through my hair / Whisper to me in my ear / “You’re the only one / I love your jealous love” / You’re the only one / I love your jealous love”

As an experienced musician who grew up playing gigs around his hometown of Gainesville, Georgia during the week and balancing high school, Hall has been bred for Nashville’s artistry and cross-genre tendencies since the start. The John Mayer and Bruce Springsteen enthusiast incorporates an infectious rock sound along with the best male country influences such as Keith Urban and Eric Church to create a specific, handmade formula that speaks for Hall as a performer. “Jealous Love” provides listeners with that mixture while, at the same time, adding fire to the flame for the release of Six Strings.

Chuck Wicks Returns With New Song “Solid Gold”

Chuck Wicks’ new song, “Solid Gold” is available now, October 23rd, on all streaming platforms. The track, written by Wicks and produced by Jimmy Ritchey, is his first release in nearly two years and directly follows his new record deal with Verge Records. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

Chuck Wicks reintroduces himself as a singer-songwriter in his new single “Solid Gold”. The pensive track comes directly from the thoughts and voice of Chuck Wicks with Jimmy Ritchey as producer, and is the first release since his 2018 single “Better Than Flowers”.

After a tumultuous yet exciting year that includes major changes in both his personal and professional life, like getting married and now awaiting his first child, to his departure from Cumulus Media where he spent the past six years as co-host on The Ty Bentli Show, formerly Ty, Kelly and Chuck, this production means more to Wicks and fans than the message that translates through lyric. Though, that does not take away from the sentiment presented in “Solid Gold”.

“As a singer and songwriter, I will forever stand by my work on ‘Solid Gold,” Wicks shared in a recent press release. “It checks all the boxes for me on what I love about country music and that’s the reason I wanted to lead with this song as I reintroduce myself as an artist.”

A ballad that speaks to a strong, deep love that is compared to the sturdiness of gold, the new single from this “Stealing Cinderella” performer fills listeners with romance.

Chuck Wicks' New Song "Solid Gold" is available now, October 23rd.

Chuck Wicks’ New Song “Solid Gold” is available now, October 23rd.

“Baby, our love is solid gold / It will hold you like a Conway song with the twang of old Mr. Jones / Our love is solid gold / You can find it on any map / Just pick a town and any old country road”

This release from Wicks is an exciting return to the spotlight. As someone who is used to the music industry between acting as a co-host on a Nationally Syndicated radio, winning two ACM’s for National On-Air Personality of the Year, and writing songs for the biggest country music artists such as Jason Aldean’s “I Don’t Do Lonely Well’, Wicks seems to be more focused than ever. With a more stripped-down style of music and a built-in tone of honesty blended among an attractive vulnerability, Wicks has all the qualities of a well-bred singer-songwriter.

Kalie Shorr Releases Authentic New Song “My Voice”

Kalie Shorr’s new song, “My Voice” is available now, October 23rd, on all streaming platforms. Written by Shorr with Fred Willhelm, Simon Reid, and Skip Black, take a look at the article below to learn more about Shorr, her story, and her new track.

To be successful as a woman in country music, artists have to work twice as hard to make a name for themselves. While radio airplay is still a major factor for some singers, there are plenty of talented artists pushing the envelope and breaking boundaries so they can make their mark.

Kalie Shorr is one of them, and her unapologetic 2019 debut, Open Book defied every Nashville radio prerequisite. The album made the top 10 of the New York Times best albums of 2019, and it earned Shorr a record deal with New York-based label TMWRK. On December 4th, the label and Shorr will release Open Book: Unabridged, and the first track, “My Voice” was released today, October 23rd.

Kalie Shorr's New Song "My Voice" is available now

Kalie Shorr’s New Song “My Voice” is available now, October 23rd.

Equal parts The Chicks twangy, Lucinda rootsy, and Alanis grungey is where Shorr’s voice lays. The song is autobiographical in a different way than her usual catalog: it’s about her relationship with music city and the suits of Nashville telling her how she’d become famous. “Spoon fed, candy coated/Take the F-bombs out of what you wrote,” she sings honestly on the first verse. “And if you want the radio to play you/Make it sweet like a cherry lifesaver/But they’ll probably never play me/’Cause I’m not a boy.”

Complying to the strict rules is difficult enough as a woman in country music, but if your music doesn’t fit inside that box, it makes it even harder. She’s come a long way since her first tour with Martina McBride, but the heart of her music has remained the same. “Guess what, I can’t change/It’s not my voice/So get used to the sound of my voice”, she belts heartfeltly on the chorus.

Production-wise, the banjo is slick and the guitar is gritty. It’s a song that is so catchy that by the second time you listen, you’ll already know the chorus. Although the song is about not making music that country radio deems “hit worthy”, it’s so well-crafted it truly could be a hit.

Shorr is proof that sometimes, stepping outside of the Nashville bubble opens more doors than you ever thought possible. Dreaming bigger means taking a leap of faith. Not everything can be done and accomplished the traditional way. To find her voice, Shorr found herself and found her way.

As we anticipate more music from Shorr, take a look at our swag session with the singer-songwriter from late last year where she sang some songs and spoke with us about the process of creating her debut record, Open Book, and what was like touring with Leann Rimes.

Fans can join our Weekly Round-Up e-newsletter here, for the latest in country music and more news about future Kalie Shorr releases.
