Kassi Ashton Releases New Song “Black Motorcycle”

Kassi Ashton’s brand new song, “Black Motorcycle” is available now, October 7th on all streaming platforms. Accompanied by the announcement of Ashton’s partnership with Harley Davidson® as a brand ambassador, take a look below as we dive into the track.

Muted lyrics to start, with a grounded beat that follows, “Black Motorcycle” has a rock country soul with punk rock style. The electric guitar and tone of Ashton’s voice encompass a struggle for rebellion and a complete rumbling of the body mimicking that of the motorcycle.

In a recent press release, Ashton explains “I’ve always in my head kind of considered my music motorcycle country. I like music with weight at the bottom. That’s freeing and moving, but still sits down here,” motioning to the pit in her stomach.

The singer-songwriter hit the nail on the head, as this track most definitely does just that. It inspires escape with the wind blowing through your hair in the chorus, and a never-ending drive that starts deep in the gut.

Ashton shares a bond with her father over their love of motorcycles, further evolved with the announcement of her partnership with Harley Davidson® as one of its brand ambassadors. She has the gritty authenticity of one who doesn’t care what anyone thinks, but still has pop tendencies to remain connected to her audience.

Brothers Osborne: Skeletons – Album Review

Brothers Osborne’s new album, Skeletons is available now, October 9th. Take a listen and check out our album review below as we dig a little deeper into the collection of songs.

Brothers Osborne New Album Skeletons

Brothers Osborne’s ‘Skeletons’ is out now, October 9th.

We have come to love Brothers Osborne as a country duo who remain true to themselves and their music, highlighting crisp country-rock and heartfelt slower tunes. As talented singers and songwriters, the men deliver an elevated, yet enticing sound with their new record Skeletons, leaning more towards the country-rock side of the gamut of their talent.

Continuing to celebrate the southern-rock groove that Brothers Osborne has created, the record takes their message to another level. “If Pawn Shop was our introduction, and Port Saint Joe was like the first conversation we had with someone over a beer, then Skeletons is the moment where you start getting down to the real stuff and showing who you really are,” John shared in a recent press release, adding, “If you really want to get to know us, this is the record to do it.”

Skeletons is begging for live-music to return, as each song has killer instrumentals and arrangements that just need a stage and an audience! Beginning with “Lighten Up,” the brothers give fans the twangy sound that we have been accustomed to. The song quickly takes a more rambunctious tone, similar to their other killer rock jam, “All Night,” the top 30 single that comes immediately after. The title track, “Skeletons” is one of the best off the record. It features spectacular guitar rifts and an extraordinary amount of energy.

“High time to come to Jesus / You got skeletons in your closet / It’s written all over your face / Every little lie, stacked so high / Can’t keep your story straight.”

The platinum-selling duo continues to play for their fans. Songs like “All The Good Ones” and “ Back On The Bottle” are backed by a steady drum and quick and witty lyrics. On the other hand, “I’m Not For Everyone” and “High Note” take a softer approach. The former starts off slower and escalates into a more mid-tempo jam that has great radio appeal. “High Note” stays on the slower side of things but conveys the more romantic side of the duo’s talent.

Another standout track is “Old Man’s Boots.’ One of the more traditional-country tunes, the song is a lyrical masterpiece. Brothers Osborne expresses the importance of boots, country roots, and all that connects the two.

“Might not look like much to you / But there really wasn’t much they couldn’t walk through.”

TJ spoke for himself, John, and his band, sharing, “We want this record to show people that we’re here to stay. We are part of the cloth of this genre,” and we think that really says it all. Skeletons is just another impressive album by Brothers Osborne, and we anticipate many more in the future!

Travis Denning’s brand new song, “Goodyears” is available now, October 9th on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

Breakout country artist, Travis Denning, proves he is here to stay with feel-good new country jam, “Goodyears”. The new single, “Goodyears” is a lyrically dense tune filled with clever wordplays and small-town references. The Georgia natives sings of life’s ups and downs, emphasizing that it’s the simple joys that make it all worth living. In the song’s chorus, Denning shares this message with his fans, using the double meaning of “Goodyears” and the highway as a metaphor to life.

“Rollin’ on them Goodyears / Flyin’ on them high times /  Circle K cold beer / Growin’ up on a Friday night … Just keep on doin’ how we do it to get through it ‘round here / Rollin’ on them Goodyears”

The mellow guitar strings throughout the song make for a relaxing and authentically country listening experience. Denning paints a mental picture of life growing up in a small town with lyrical nods to “Friday nights”, “Jackpot scratch-offs”, and “Two-lane” roads, bringing forward memories and connecting with his fans through relatable experiences.

Travis Denning first played this song during live sets in early 2020, where fans felt an instant connection to the smooth and invigorating sound and feel-good message. After generating an initial buzz amongst the live-show listeners, the singer-songwriter officially released the track.

The American Idol star and Louisiana native knows how to deliver music that resonates with his fans. His new song “Other LA” is just another example of his pure and innovative creativity. The song may sound familiar to some fans, who have seen the singer perform the song live or via social media. Hardy also performed the jam during one of our virtual country brunches earlier this month.

“To my home sweet other LA / Everybody brags about the beach / No one seen it in weeks / Nothing but taillight traffic / If you love it that much you can have it / If it was up to these old boots, I’d be back down in Baton Rouge / I know a country boy can survive / But it’s tough for a rodeo guy”

Laine Hardy shared with fans that he wrote the song in Nashville, just before the world seemingly shutdown for quarantine. The track is a clear ode to the singer’s home state of Louisiana, conveniently shortened as “LA.” The clever song is an appreciation for your hometown roots and of course Los Angeles, California, which is one of the cities that helped Hardy blossom into the performer he is through American Idol. Cody Johnson Reimagines “Dear Rodeo” Featuring Reba

Cody Johnson and Reba McEntire’s version of “Dear Rodeo” is available now on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig deeper into the track.

Country legend, Reba McEntire joins Texas-native and rising country star, Cody Johnson for a duet of his song, “Dear Rodeo” off his latest album, Ain’t Nothing To It. This song can be interpreted literally—a former rodeo competitor who walked away from the sport a while ago, but still misses the joy and rush it brought into his life—and figuratively—the rodeo being a metaphor for a former lover. McEntire’s backs Johnson until her voice takes center stage in the song’s final verse.

Dear Rodeo / I’d like to think you miss me too / But I know you don’t / Oh, but that don’t change the past / And that don’t change the truth / I’m still in love with you / Dear Rodeo

Johnson has been singing and playing guitar since he was twelve years old. He built up a large fanbase in Texas and had several top-ten hits on Texas radio before signing with Warner Music Nashville in 2018. McEntire is not only a popular counterpart for Johnson to drive streams and sales, she fits the role well, as she is a former rodeo competitor herself who won two buckles barrel racing. Her music career launched when Red Steagall discovered her singing the national anthem at the 1974 National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City.

Rayne Johnson Is Feeling “Real Dang Good” with New Song

Rayne Johnson’s new song “Real Dang Good” is available now, October 7th, on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dive deeper into the new track.

Rayne Johnson brings the fun and his flirty side to his new song “Real Dang Good.” The new song will be his first single under his new label, Verge Records. It’s an upbeat, feel-good song that’s easy to listen to over and over. The lyrics paint the scene of a guy hanging out in a bar after a tough week and everything changes when he sees the girl that changes everything.

Real Dang Good Rayne Johnson

“She said boy do you maybe want to dance with me // Looks like you could use a little company // I could turn your night around // How does that sound // I said good, good, real dang good // Yeah, ‘cause that night didn’t feel right until I saw her pretty face // We were dancing, it was crazy // I felt like you knew me baby // That night was looking bad until I saw her // But it got good, good, real dang good”

“Real Dang Good” is a song everyone can relate to, especially in this day and time,” Johnson says in a recent press release. “We all have those tough weeks and need someone or something to pick us up, and who better than that girl (or guy) you didn’t even know you were lookin’ for?”

The Ohio native is still fairly new to the country music scene. He’s opened for Riley Green, Hunter Hayes, and Randy Houser and has released three singles in the last two years. “Front Seat” landed on both the Mediabase Country Aircheck and Billboard Country Airplay charts and was streamed more than 24 million times.

The singer-songwriter is the latest act to sign a deal with Mickey Jack Cones, President, and COO of Verge Records—the label arm of global music company ONErpm.

Kylie Morgan Releases “Cuss A Little” Featuring Walker Hayes

Kylie Morgan’s new song, “Cuss A Little” features Walker Hayes and is available now on all streaming platforms. Written by Morgan and Hayes, take a look below as we dig deeper into the track.

Yoga-enthusiast turned country singer-songwriter, Kylie Morgan released “Cuss A Little” featuring Walker Hayes on Friday, October 2nd. Produced by Ben Johnson and the Grammy-award winning, Shane McAnally, this track reveals Morgan’s honest, yet sometimes contradicting personality.

I’m just human, buried in denial / I judge people and I read the bible / I drink too much but my body is a temple / I love Jesus but I cuss just a little

“Cuss A Little” is an anthem for every young adult trying to figure out who they are and who they want to be. She discusses all the things she stands for but cannot follow-up on. For example, she wants to be straight up with people but continues to talk about them behind their backs. Hayes, who co-wrote the song with her, backs Morgan’s humble voice along with a simple, acoustic melody. This is one of the first songs she wrote upon moving to Nashville at the age of nineteen.

Kylie Morgan’s New Song, ft. Walker Hayes, “Cuss A Little” is out now, October 2nd

“Cuss A Little’ is truthfully me, no filter,” Morgan shared in a recent press release. “This song has always meant a lot to me and I’m so glad I finally get to share it with others.”

Hayes adds, “I can’t believe Kylie was in her teens when we wrote this.  Even crazier how it has stood the test of time.  I know this song and the way she and Shane were able to bring it together will most definitely meet people where they are and make them pull over. I did when I heard it the first time.”

Morgan began writing songs in her hometown of Newcastle, Oklahoma when she was only 12 years old. A little over a year ago, she signed with UMG Nashville and the SMACKSongs team, under the guidance McAnally and Josh Osborne. Earlier this year, she released her fun, yet vulnerable track, “Break Things,” which continues to accumulate impressive streaming numbers. Learn more about Morgan in our Swag Spotlight.

Luke Combs Releases Acoustic “Cold As You” In Weekly Series

Luke Combs released an acoustic version of “Cold As You” from his upcoming What You See Ain’t Always What You Get Deluxe album. Every Monday over the past three weeks, Combs has taken to social media to perform an acoustic snippet of a new track from the album in a new Weekly Series until its official release on October 23rd. Watch “Cold As You” below:

“Cold As You” is a song about the type of bar that helps mend broken hearts. Combs paints the picture of the ambiance, like how “Whiskey River” is playing on the jukebox, how the bathrooms stalls are covered in phone numbers, but most importantly, how the beer they serve is almost as cold as the one who left them.

Good-time numbers on the stall door / Picture of you on the dartboard / Them cinderblock walls ain’t ever been cleaned / Still not as dirty as you done me

Brent Cobb: Keep ‘Em On They Toes Album Review

Brent Cobb’s new album, ‘Keep ‘Em On They Toes’ is available now, October 2nd. Take a listen and check out our album review below as we dig a little deeper into the collection of songs.

Grammy award-winning, singer-songwriter Brent Cobb pays homage to his indie heritage in his latest album Keep ‘Em on They Toes. The project was released on his own label, Ol’ Buddy Records, via Thirty Tigers. The collection was produced by Brad Cook, who has produced artists to the likes of Bon Iver, Waxahatchie, and more, and is an assemblage of ten new songs including the lively title track.

“Keep ‘Em on They Toes” is a lighthearted, earthy tune with reminiscences of a Jack Johnson ambiance. Written with his wife Layne, it’s a tale of eluding the woes when ignorance is bliss. The song coincides with a music video directed by Christian Hanson which documents the full circle of a relationship.

“Shut Up and Sing” trails off of the album’s opener and takes what some people order and turns it upside down. Taking a remark often made towards successful artists who speak out, Cobb alludes to the implication that every so often it’s okay for the artistic connotation to take the lead. Sometimes the music just does the talking. He insinuates at the advice given not to talk, so he took it.. and made his voice hear another way…

“I wondered what I would shut and sing // And then it hit me // Lord have mercy, all us earthly fools // There’s poison in our rhetoric and bullets in our schools. // So I sing, what the hell is going on here? // Let’s take these blinders off our eyes and pull the cotton from our ears.”

“Good Times and Good Lovin’” is a lot less cheeky than the prior and embellishes a swing-enticed rhythm and sensual keys. Hey, good times and good loving may not last forever, as told, but we sure as hell can keep this song playing all night.

“Sometimes I’m A Clown” is another sultry, slow groove of the bunch encompassing mild instrumentation while “Dust Under My Rug” speeds it up a little. The tempo is raised and makes the dance floor immensely inviting. “Soap Box” is “Shut Up and Sing” 2.0 but more civil. The Ellaville native sings, “Well good god, let’s hop off the soapbox and get along,” while over an abundance of jazz-influenced piano riffs and angelic female harmonics.

“The World Is Ending” is a track that was previously released in June in the depths of the pandemic when everything was still so uncertain. Cobb wrote the track years prior, but with today’s setting, was awfully appropriate to release now.

“Little Stuff”, the album’s final track, calmly concludes the project making it clear that it’s the little things that mean the absolute most.

Overall, Cobb’s Keep ‘Em On They Toes is a must-listen for fans of all genres.

Rascal Flatts Release: Twenty Years of Rascal Flatts The Greatest Hits

Rascal Flatts are celebrating their milestone twentieth year together with the release of ‘Twenty Years of Rascal Flatts The Greatest Hits’, available now.

Twenty Years of Rascal Flatts The Greatest Hits

Twenty Years of Rascal Flatts The Greatest Hits

As promised, despite their announced retirement, Rascal Flatts has continued to give fans something to remember them by this year. Earlier this year they released their EP How They Remember You, and now the famous trio are gifting fans with a new greatest hits record. Twenty Years of Rascal Flatts – The Greatest Hits is quite literally the album version of a typical Rascal Flatts concert setlist.

The trio featured many of their number one singles harking all the way back to the beginning of their bright career. The record is truly a trip down memory lane, as the record begins with their oldest tunes and ends with their most recent hits.

Songs like “I’m Movin’ On,” “These Days,” and “Bless The Broken Road” have become classic country songs to modern-day country fans. We all have a story about when we first heard these nostalgic tunes. “I’m Movin’ On” is one of their first top ten singles off their debut self-titled record, while “These Days” was their lead single off their sophomore record. It was also their first song to reach the top of the charts.

The group’s third studio album Feels Like Today garnered them a five-time platinum-selling record and arguably made Rascal Flatts a household name. The record boasted number one songs like “Bless The Broken Road” and “Fast Cars and Freedom,” which are both obviously included in the new Greatest Hits record.

If the Feels Like Today record made the band a household name, it was their record Me and My Gang that solidified their rise to super-stardom. “What Hurts The Most,” “Life Is A Highway,” and “Stand” all soared to the top of the charts, and we all continue to sing every word of each of those tracks today. Fan-favorite, “Life Is A Highway” is also a track off this killer record.

It is hard to believe that up until this point, we are only half-way through their astonishing career. Songs like “Take Me There,” “Here Comes Goodbye,” and “Easy” continued to elevate their career. In the latter half of their career, Rascal Flatts members Jay, Gary, and Joe continued to give us hits like “Banjo,” “Come Wake Me Up,” and “Changed,” all songs that we will forever be hearing through our speakers.

Ending their career with ten fully-produced and incredible full-length projects, the men of Rascal Flatts made sure to leave us with even more memorable hits that also round out their new Greatest Hits record. “I Like The Sound Of That” and “Yours If You Want It” will continue to be the songs that are played for generations of country music lovers to come.

Thank you Rascal Flatts for the twenty years of musical mastery! We can only hope that we will get to see the band play all these mega-hits one last time.
