Jimmie Allen Plays Ole Red Nashville for CMT Hot 20 Live

Jimmie Allen, CMT Hot 20 Live

Jimmie Allen, CMT Hot 20 Live

Friday (Sept 28), Jimmie Allen took over CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown Live at Ole Red in Downtown Nashville. The Delaware native is preparing to drop his debut album Mercury Lane on October 12th, which includes his chart-climbing song “Best Shot”.

Allen sang four songs from the forthcoming album for the energetic crowd, “Blue Jean Baby”, “21”, “Best Shot”, and “Underdogs”. Along with performing live, CMT host Marley Sherwood asked Allen some fan questions. The two took tequila and whiskey shots before asking questions to get the crowd going, also toasting to Troy Gentry, his friend and country music star who sadly passed away last year.

Sherwood asked who some of his favorite sports team were to which Allen replied, “Well of course, football season is upon us so fly Eagles fly. I’m a Philadelphia Eagles fan being from Delaware. With basketball, I’m a Lakers fan. Even though we’ve been struggling for a few years, Lebron made us relevant again. For baseball, I did grow up as a Yankees fan but ever since Derek Jeter left, I’ve been wearing whoever has the coolest hat, so it’s definitely the Red Sox.” Representing Nashville, Allen added that his favorite hockey team was of course the Nashville Predators, which was greeted by cheers and applause from the Nashville audience.

Not only did Allen find out that people who graduated from his own high school were in attendance at the show, but he also showed fan appreciation by bringing up a lady wearing his t-shirt. He was excited and talked to her on stage bonding and showing his genuine love for his fans. Lastly, he brought his adorable four-year-old son to the stage to say goodbye to the crowd.

NYCountry Swag first introduced Allen to our followers back in October 2017, when he joined us in New York City at Refinery Rooftop for a Live Swag Session. We were immediately hooked by his lively, optimistic charisma and beautiful vocals. Check out his session with us in the video below.

Pre-order Jimmie Allen’s debut album, “Mercury Lane” here and don’t miss his Today Show debut on Tuesday, October 9th. Fans can catch Allen on the road this fall/winter with Scotty McCreery. The tour hits the New York area on January 26th 2019, click here for ticket information. Cole Swindell & Friends Entertain Long Islanders

It was a “Sunday Fun-day” on September 23rd at BMHMC Amphitheater at Bald Hill on Long Island thanks to some awesome country music entertainers. New Yorkers were lucky enough to have Cole Swindell, Morgan Wallen, and Ryan Griffin perform for an event to honor the troops, hosted by My Country 96.1 radio station.

Ryan Griffin, Long Island, NY

Ryan Griffin, Long Island, NY

Country newcomer, Ryan Griffin started the night off entertaining the crowd with his songs “Good Company,” “Play It By Heart,” ”Best Cold Beer,” and covering Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You.” The singer was definitely feeling the energy of the night, sharing with fans “I’ll tell you what [New York] everybody that we encountered, since we’ve been here have been incredible. Ya’ll raised them right here.”

Some great moments of the night for the entertainer came at the end of his set, including playing his rendition of Kelsea Ballerini’s “Dibs,” a song Griffin co-penned.  He introduced the song as his first number one as a songwriter; however, the singer closed out his time on stage with his first own debut single as a recording artist, “Back Seats & Burnt CDs.”

Griffin showcased exactly why we named him a NYCountry Swag 2018 Artist to Watch, as he kept new and old fans alike pumped throughout his entire set, and just as excited for Morgan Wallen, who was up next.

Just after a short intermission, where sponsors awarded military contest winners and showed their support to veterans, Wallen took the stage with an indescribable energy and swagger that seemed to resonate with concertgoers. The Big Loud Records recording artist played songs off his debut album If I Know Me, including jams, “Whattcha Know About That,” “Happy Hour,” and the first song [he] ever put out, “The Way I Talk.”

Morgan Wallen, Long Island, NY

The singer showed his softer side, singing his ballad “Chasing You,” and introducing his next single to country music radio, “Whiskey Glasses,” encouraging fans to let the radio stations know if they like it.

After thanking fans for letting him show his vulnerable side, Wallen got the party started sharing a sentiment with the audience, “I grew up on all kinds of music, but I always gravitate towards a little bit of Honky Tonk country music. Anyone like Honky Tonk country music? I’ll need you guys to sing this song with me, okay. We got any Brooks and Dunn fans in the house?!,” just before covering the classic song “Play Something Country.”

Wallen kept the party going with a mashup of more covers, including Linkin Parks’s “In The End,” Joe Walsh’s “Life In the Fast Lane,” and Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love A Bad Name,” as well as, Fallout Boy’s “Sugar We’re Going Down,” and Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar on Me.” Fans passionately sang the lyrics back to the artist the entire time.

Keeping with his authentic nature and clear passion for all types of music, Wallen continued his set, introducing and performing his very first number one song as a songwriter,  Jason Aldean’s smash hit “You Make it Easy.” “A guy named Jason Aldean heard it and he liked it and he said he’s gonna make it his first single on his album” he added before playing the hit song.

The singer ended with a bang, performing his number one single, which features country duo Florida Georgia Line, “Up Down.” Check out our exclusive video interview with Wallen from back in November 2017, where we claimed “Up Down” would be his very first number one song, seven months before it went number one in June 2018.

Wallen closed his lively and energetic set reminding fans that Cole Swindell was up next, “Ya’ll in for one hell of a show. He’s one of the best dudes I know.”

Swindell lived up to the sentiment, beginning his set with hits “Let Me See You Girl,” “Hope You Get Lonely Tonight,” and new song, “Reason To Drink.” The entertainer’s set consisted of fan-favorites off his first two albums, “20 in a Chevy,” and “Chillin It”, as well as, his newly released third studio album, All Of It, including tracks “Dad’s Old Number,” “Both Sides of The Mississippi,” and “Break Up In The End.”

Cole Swindell, Long Island, NY

Cole Swindell, Long Island, NY

Just before playing the title track, the singer stopped to thank fans, “A couple of weeks ago I put out my third studio album. The response, the reaction has been everything I could have ever dreamed of. All I ever dreamed of was having one album, and the fact that you’ve given me a career, allowing me to make my third one, we’re in this one together. I will be playing a lot of the album tonight. Give me everything you got!”

Concertgoers did just that, belting out the lyrics to both fresh songs and classic favorites. About halfway through his set, Swindell stopped to recognize the fans yet again, “That’s why I love this area. Ya’ll are so damn passionate about music. Now this is what I call a Sunday fun-day!”

Some of the more poignant moments of the night came towards the end of his set and into his encore. Swindell sang his concert staple “Ain’t Worth The Whiskey,” sharing how the song started as a break up song, but has morphed into so much more, as fans raised their glasses to the honorees of the night, the veterans who were present.

Additionally, the singer-songwriter switched gears, acknowledging his roots in an epic mashup. Singing, “I Don’t Want This Night To End” (Luke Bryan), “She’s Country” (Jason Aldean), “How Forever Feels” (Kenny Chesney), “Get Your Shine On,” (Florida Georgia Line), and “Drunk On A Plane” (Dierks Bentley), Swindell acknowledged and paid tribute to his past tour-mates, showing how far he’s come from his merchandise days for Luke Bryan.

The recording artist ended the night with his hit “Flatliner,” leaving fans floored by the extraordinary night of music that they just witnessed. Next up, Swindell will head out for his ‘Reason to Drink… Another Tour’ with rising musicians Dustin Lynch and Lauren Alaina. Check out a full list of tour dates here, and keep checking our calendar for future New York Dates.

Kip Moore’s ‘After The Sunburn’ Tour Hits NYC

Kip Moore and his loyal fanbase kicked off Fall Friday night (Sept 21) at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom as part of the Georgia-bred singer-songwriter’s “After The Sunburn” Tour.

The evening began with Nash FM 94.7’s Jesse Addy welcoming the crowd and introducing openers Caroline Jones and The Wild Feathers. Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jones, and opening act at our Country Night on the Water with Jackie Lee last summer, started the evening with a combination of both covers and songs from her album Bare Feet. Nashville band, The Wild Feathers followed with a setlist from their past albums as well as their recent release Greetings From The Neon Frontier.

Just about half past nine, Headliner Kip Moore took the stage, opening with with “Fast Women” from his most recent album Slowheart (September 2017). Other songs from the album included “Plead The Fifth”, “Sunburn”, “Blonde”, “Last Shot” and “The Bull”.

“Sometimes you get into the room and you already know the electricity is already nice,” drawled Moore before good time anthem “Beer Money” from the best-selling debut album by a male in 2012 and 2013 “Up All Night” (April 2012). Other fan favorites in the show included “Wild Ones”, “I’m To Blame”, “Dirt Road”, “That’s Alright With Me”, “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck” and “Young Love”.

Moore introduced “More Girls Like You” saying: “These are the kind of nights you hope for anytime you get on stage, so y’all know what’s up with this one right here”. Several times throughout the show, Moore took a sip from his signature stage bottle of whiskey and mentioned his getting scolded about stage time. “Y’all getting down in the balconies up there, I see y’all. Thank you for showing us so much love; it’s so good to be here tonight,” he said.

A special moment came later in the show when Moore performed “Everything But You” for the first time in a while. “This is from the first record,” he said, “Tell ya what, hang on one second; we gonna try it right now. See that’s a badass band up here, ya know what I mean. Y’all forgive us if we mess this up, we gonna give it a go!” The song was performed with true emotion—and every note went off without a hitch.

“Separate Ways” closed out the setlist with Moore shimmying across the stage, swilling whiskey, exclaiming “this makes you wanna move” and explaining: “There are strict rules in this place, we’re already over time so we’re trying to get as much material as we can for you guys but they’re already like fining my ass by every minute, so I figured we would come back out and do one for the true die hard fans right now.”

The evening ended with an encore in true Kip Moore fashion. He treated the audience to a brand-new, never-heard-before song from his forthcoming album. “This is all I am gonna ask: I know we live in a day and age where everybody feels like everything needs to be recorded. This is your special night, this song is not be shared.” Just like that, every phone went down and fans were immediately hung up on the moment, completely entranced by Moore’s performance. It was a truly special night for the audience, and one to be remembered.

Friday morning, (Sept. 21), just after kicking off the first night of his headline ‘After The Sunburn’ Tour, Kip Moore stopped by Nash FM 94.7’s Hackensack Meridian Health Stage 17 for a special Up Close & Country performance.

After being introduced by Nash DJ Jesse Addy, Moore discussed some of his upcoming projects which includes an acoustic tour at the end of this run as well as a new full length album. “The fans have been asking for an acoustic project. I’ve been doing acoustic headlining things at the end of my fall tour for the last couple of years and I’m gonna do it again this year. […] The fans are used to it now and they love the singer-songwriter’s songs. They call out for those songs that have never even been on a record, so that’s been a beautiful thing.” Moore mentioned in addition to the project, he’s also stockpiling music for the follow-up record to his latest release Slowheart, claiming he hopes to get back in the studio this November, and fans can expect a new album out some time next Spring.

Taking requests from the audience, the country singer kicked off the intimate set with a signature Moore deep and raspy version of “Dirt Road”. As fans continued to throw out songs, Moore went on to play “Everything But You”, “Last Shot” his current single which is sitting in the Top 25 on Country Airplay charts and ended with “Complicated”. Moore’s raw and infectious energy captivated the entire audience from beginning to end.

Ben Danaher Captivates Fans at NYC’s Rockwood Music Hall

Ben Danaher

Wednesday night (Sept 19) in downtown Manhattan, guests at Rockwood Music Hall had the pleasure of listening to singer-songwriter, Ben Danaher perform all 11 tracks from his debut album Still Feel Lucky (Check out our First Impression review of the album here). The intimate venue was the perfect setting for the singer’s heartfelt vibe.

Danaher is a musician who relies on raw talent and honest lyrics, reminding listeners of the importance of this type of artistry in country music. Strapped with an acoustic guitar, the singer began his set with his track, “Hell or High Water”, co-written by country superstar Maren Morris. As he progressed with his music, more fans sat down to listen to his set, and of course, the stories behind his lyrics that the singer shared in between songs.

Prior to singing his title track, “Still Feel Lucky,” Danaher shared a story with the audience about living with his grandmother in Vermont after a series of familial tragedies and difficulty fitting into the Nashville music scene.

“Everyday she [his grandmother] would talk about how lucky she was. When I got back to Nashville, I had to do a new way of thinking, at least for this song.” After the heartfelt performance, the “Still Feel Lucky” singer laughed, stating “That was the fastest, happiest song I got.. It all goes down hill from here.” Ironically, the night only got better as Danaher appeared more and more comfortable on stage and interacting with the audience.

The night was filled with memorable moments, including the artist discussing his most prized possession, his 12 passenger van named Carl. As well as his first trip to NYC; however, one of the more poignant moments of the night was when the singer-songwriter opened his heart to fans, sharing the song he wrote for his young niece, after her father was tragically taken from her. The singer wanted his niece to know that she wasn’t alone in missing someone.

“I was kinda kicking around in Nashville, playing songs for people that were too sad. I took it as a reason that I wasn’t fitting in with country music, which is weird that sad music isn’t country music anymore. I thought that was the point. After my brother passed away, I didn’t want my niece to feel that it wasn’t okay,” he explained just before singing “Everyone’s Getting Over Someone.”

Danaher ended his Rockwood set with a brand new unreleased song, “The Apple and The Tree,” and left the show with many brand new fans in his corner. For future tour dates and more information, visit bendanaher.com.

Wednesday evening (Sept. 19), Nash FM 94.7 fans were treated to a special Up Close & Country recording with breakout star, Brett Young at Nash’s home base, Hackensack Meridian Health Stage 17.

After being introduced by Nash DJs Jesse Addy & Katie Neal, Young took the stage to play an intimate acoustic set filled with songs from his debut album as well as unreleased new music, from his forthcoming album, Ticket to L.A.

While chatting with Addy & Neal, Young spoke about his decision on releasing new music after coming off of four straight #1 songs from the debut album. “It gets to a point where you realize people are coming to your shows over and over again with only 12 songs to listen to, so it felt like it would have been greedy to try to send another song from the first record to radio. It felt like time for new music.” Young explains before playing “Catch” an unreleased song fans can look forward to hearing on the new album.

With a captivated audience, Young went on to discuss his latest single release and the first song off the new album, “Here Tonight”. One of the first weekends of touring with Lady Antebellum, Young had songwriters Justin Ebach and Ben Caver out to write when Charles Kelley of Lady A approached the trio and told them he wanted to write with them. “Two hours later we were all on the bus writing with Charles Kelley from Lady Antebellum, which was incredible, the more incredible part of it for me is that that ended up being the song that is the first single off the second record”.

If “Here Tonight” is any indicator of what’s to expect from the new album, it’s safe to say that Young has a few more #1’s to add to his collection.

Lucky fans who won their way in to this exclusive private show were treated to a meet and greet after the show. Those who weren’t there, will have to wait until the video airs in December.

Last night (Sept. 18.), Old Dominion sold out and electrified the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville for their special headline show: “An Evening With Friends.” The concert raised a total of $40K for charity, with half of the proceeds benefiting the Opry Trust Fund and the other half benefitting the Ryan Seacrest Foundation.

In a recent press release, Old Dominion frontman and 2017 ASCAP Artist Writer of the Year Matthew Ramsey said, “What an unforgettable night. The Nashville community has given so much to us. Our lives have changed in ways we could never have imagined – so we felt like this show at the Ryman was a great way to start giving back. There was so much love and music and history swirling around. We are beyond proud to be able to raise money and help those who need it – along with help from our friends!”

By “our friends”, Ramsey is referring to the superstar lineup that joined them including Kenny Chesney, Kelsea Ballerini, Sam Hunt, and Michael Ray for show-stopping renditions of fan favorites. Chesney surprised the band on stage and had them play “Save It For A Rainy Day,” which was co-written by Old D’s Matthew Ramsey and Brad Tursi and hit #1 for three consecutive weeks. Kelsea Ballerini also joined the band to duet the band’s #1 single “Written In The Sand” and her single “I Hate Love Songs,” co-written by band member Trevor Rosen. Michael Ray then followed and performed his latest energetic single “The One That Got Away,” penned by Ramsey and Rosen. Lastly, Sam Hunt performed two songs with the band that included the #1 single “Make You Miss Me,” as well as “Ex To See,” both of which were co-written with Hunt by Ramsey.

Brett Young and Carly Pearce Play Opry City Stage for ‘Front and Center’ Taping

Brett Young & Carly Pearce at Opry City Stage for Front and Center

Last night (Sept. 17), New York country fans kicked off the week with a special double episode taping of Front and Center at Opry City Stage. Front and Center is a commercial-free, all-music program that airs nationwide, on public television. Guests had about three days to purchase tickets before the hot event sold out, but NYCountry Swag followers had the opportunity to win their way in all weekend long through our exclusive giveaway contest.

Fans fortunate enough to attend had the privilege of experiencing two superstars in the making, Carly Pearce and Brett Young. The episode will air in spring of 2019, on PBS. The show will be cut down to a one-hour special, but we have your inside look of what you can expect next year.

To start the night, Nash FM 94.7’s Katie Neal and Jesse Addy took the stage to give the audience a run-down of how things were going to work. Since fans were a part of filming, Addy made sure the crowd knew one thing,“If you hear a song the second time, it’s the first time… and it’s amazing!” The dynamic duo got the sold out crowd fired up and ready for the first half of the night with CMT award-winning artist, Carly Pearce.

Pearce kicked off her set with her high-energy song “Careless”, getting the crowd pumped for what’s to come. The singer got the chance to perform almost every song on her record including crowd favorites like “Color” and “If My Name Was Whiskey” along with her very first number one song and debut single, “Every Little Thing”. Throwing some 90’s Country into the mix, Pearce gave a flawless cover of Shania Twain’s, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” before bringing it back to her Dollywood days with Dolly Parton’s, “9 to 5”.

Throughout the taping she talked with the crowd showing off her fun-loving-sassy personality, giving her backstory, talking about her job with the one and only Dolly Parton and mentioning the fact that she has played the Grand Ole Opry over 50 times already, giving everyone the order to go experience the Opry themselves.

The rising country star slayed each song with her outstanding vocals, never missing a beat. Before leaving the stage she said, “I got one song left Y’all and I just want to say thank you ‘Front and Center’ for having me. Thank you, Grand Ole Opry for having me and thank all of you for showing up, New York City… I have one question left for you, Do I have any wine drinkers in New York City!?” Closing out her set with her current single, “Hide The Wine” as everyone in the audience sang the lyrics right back to her.

Next up was multi-platinum artist, Brett Young, kicking things off with his brand new single, “Here Tonight”. Young’s set was filled with songs from his debut album, from his list of number one singles to crowd-favorites like “Left Side Of Leavin'” and “Makin’ Me Say”.

Brett Young at Opry City Stage

Adding fun covers to the mix, Young threw in his version of The Temptations’ “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg”, which he often performs while touring. With a New York City show, it was only fitting for the singer to cover Gavin DeGraw’s “Not Over You”, while the excited crowd sang along from beginning to end. Later, Young mashed up his fourth #1 single, “Mercy” with Marshmello and Khalid’s hit single “Silence”, putting a unique and tender twist on the EDM heavy song. Check out our exclusive video of the mash-up here.

Mid-set, Young’s band exited the stage, leaving only himself on acoustic and another guitarist. He told the audience, “Everybody covers this song, so in turn it’s pretty cliche that I’m about to cover this, but I just don’t care”, before singing a stunning cover of “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. Young’s cover proved to be anything but cliche. His rendition was breathtaking, showing off his incredible talent.

As the night went on, he interacted with the crowd, at one point even jumping off the stage giving high-fives and hand shakes all around, while getting up close and personal to the front-row fans, taking pictures and videos, making sure everyone was having a good time.

Before ending the show, there was one thing Young asked of his audience, to sing his triple-platinum number one single “In Case You Didn’t Know” at the top of their lungs. One verse into the song he stopped and said, “This is going to be on television and I know you can sing louder than that, I’m gonna start the whole song over just to hear you guys louder!” When it played the second time around, every single person in the crowd put their heart and soul into screaming those lyrics back, making it the perfect sing-a-long. He thanked the crowd for supporting country music and making the song the wedding anthem of 2017. When it was time for his last song, the breakout artist brought it home with his debut single and first number one hit, “Sleep Without You”.

It was a night to never forget, both artists with such extraordinary talent, their vocals captivating the audience with every song they sang. Lucky for those who attended, we get to relive a part of the magic we experienced and for those who didn’t can get their chance to watch it next year when it airs on PBS! For New Yorkers, Brett Young will be back in New York City at the PlayStation Theater on December 9th with special guests Tyler Rich and Rachel Wammack. Grab your tickets here.

Opry City Stage Hosts True “In The Round” Style Songwriters Night

On Friday night (Sept. 14), New York City’s Opry City Stage held their first true songwriting round, as part of The Bluebird Cafe Songwriter Series at The Studio. Approximately 100 people were able to experience the iconic Nashville-originated “in the round” phenomenon, right in the heart of Times Square.

Opry City Stage Songwriters Night

Songwriters, Tony Arata, J. Fred Knobloch, Don Schlitz, and gifted harmonica player Jelly Roll Johnson mesmerized the audience with their talents for a two-hour musical awakening. In true “in the round” fashion, each hitmaker took turns going around in a circle, sharing personal anecdotes, stories behind their penned lyrics, engaging with the audience, and of course, singing songs that they have written for famed country music artists.

For the first round, Arata started the night off singing “Here I Am,’ written for Patty Loveless, sharing the importance of the lyrics, focused on how addiction effects relationships. He would later sing some of the crowd’s favorites of the night, including Garth’s Brook’s number one single, “The Dance.”

“I’ll always remember writing this, and right after I did, I played this at The Bluebird Cafe [in Nashville]. Garth [Brooks] and I had just befriended each other, and he said if he ever got a record deal, he was gunna do it. And I was so thrilled, but at the time Garth was doing construction and selling boots, and I was loading trucks at UPS. So obviously we were right on the cusp of greatness.”

On the other hand, Schlitz, who shared that it was his first time taking the trip to play here, stated “I’ll play you the first song I’ve ever had recorded. Up to that point, they just weren’t that good. A lot of songs about trucks. I was so far ahead of my time.”

Fans got a kick out of the writer’s humor and showcased their approval, singing along, as he began to sing “The Gambler,” written for Kenny Rogers. Schlitz played another Roger’s classic later on in the night, “The Greatest,” which the audience also seemed to enjoy.

Next, Knobloch entertained the room with his pop record written for none other than Faith Hill entitled “If My Heart Had Wings.” One of the more poignant moments of the night was the songwriter singing and sharing the background of a song, written for and with Don Williams that was never recorded. Knobloch explained “He became ill and never wound up going to the studio at all. This is the one that almost was,” before singing the lyrics “Everybody needs a rock that they can lean on / you’re mine / you’re mine.”  The room was completely still and quit, during this beautiful tribute.

All along, Johnson showcased his skills, playing harmonica, while the writers sang and played acoustic guitar. The men of the night were inspiring to the listeners, as they truly played a full range of country songs, from songs that everyone loves to songs that were never recorded. Overall, the authentic Nashville-like “in the round” experiences a success, even in “the city that never sleeps.”

Friday afternoon (Sept. 14), Country superstar Carrie Underwood celebrated the release of her sixth studio album, Cry Pretty, with an intimate performance for Nash FM 94.7’s “Up Close & Country” at Opry City Stage.

Country fans from the New York metro area and beyond, who won their way in to the exclusive event, filled the fourth floor of the new Opry City Stage venue eagerly awaiting the special performance, which was broadcasted live on Nash FM 94.7 in New York as well as other major markets across the country.

Reigning queen of country, Carrie Underwood, took the stage after being introduced by Nash FM DJ Katie Neal to talk about the new album, the songwriting and producing process behind it and play her new music along with some of her biggest hits to date.

After warming up the intimate crowd with “Church Bells”, Underwood thanked the audience for being there and celebrating new music with her, before playing the debut song and title track off her new album “Cry Pretty”. Check out our exclusive video of the chilling song here.

She also played “Jesus Take The Wheel”, which in many ways is the song that started it all for her as the first single off her debut album, Some Hearts. After a powerful performance of “Love Wins”, the second single off of Cry Pretty, Underwood thanked the fans for the positive response on the track, which encourages bringing people together and to be understanding of one another.

Chatting with DJ Katie Neal between songs, the two discussed Underwood’s recent conversation with Nash Nights Live’s Elaina D. Smith on her “Women Want To Hear Women” podcast in which Underwood elaborated on some of the shocking reactions she received after announcing her all-female tour lineup.

“I feel like just normalizing things like that is definitely a step in the right direction,” she tells Neal. “Nobody thinks anything if there are three dudes going on tour together and then I get a lot of questions like ‘Oh my gosh, you’re having three females, it’s so risky, crazy thing that I’m doing and I’m like no this is just going to be a really awesome show.”

Underwood will bring up-and-coming female artists, Maddie & Tae and Runaway June out with her on the road for her Cry Pretty 360 Tour. “They’ve all got new music out, so go check them out. They are all just really talented and strong women and I love that,” she tells the New York country fans in the audience and folks listening at home. The Cry Pretty 360 Tour comes to The Big Apple, hitting Madison Square Garden on October 2nd, 2019.

Before ending the show with a Carrie Underwood classic, “Before He Cheats,” the country singer thanked the fans one last time. “It just feels like we’ve been working on this album for so long and I’m so excited and so excited to share it with everybody. […] it’s just been an incredible journey. I know it’s not over, because we still have obviously a great tour to do, but just Thank You from the bottom of my heart.”

Fans can buy or stream the new album everywhere today.
