Brian Kelley shares brand new album Ed & Mary Margaret’s Son, officially out now, October 25th on all streaming platforms. Learn more and listen to the new album below.
Since stepping out as a solo artist, Brian Kelley has garnered a ton of loyal fans, both during his Florida Georgia Line Days and new fans that have flocked to his unique sound. His real and raw music has appealed to lovers of honest country music. His latest album, Ed & Mary Margaret’s Son is officially out now, featuring twelve songs all penned by Kelley.
“I’m probably more excited than ever to be making music and writing songs. I’m in a place in my life where I’m going to record and write whatever I want and put it out whenever I want, and that excites me . I just have so much freedom to go wherever my creativity and my authenticity takes me. So that just fires me up,” shares Kelley in a recent press release. “To be honest with you, this record caught me off guard. But once I had an inkling of what it could be, and what was happening, it was a moment I didn’t want to pass up.”
Kelley solo-wrote every single song off the project, which is a monumental feat for any artist. Songs like “Rockin’ Randall” and “Shit Kickers” show off his traditional roots, something that fans of Kelley have come to appreciate from the heavy-hitter.
Ed & Mary Margaret’s Son also features more confessional songs that speak to Kelley’s upbringing and personal views. The title track, one of the most prolific songs on the record conveys the singer’s upbringing, and his praises to his parents for the life they gave him, as well as, their influence on his life and career. Similarly on “Heaven In A Holler,” Kelley leans into his vulnerable side yet again, as he describes country life that is grounded in family and faith.
Fan-favorite song, “If I Go First” marks another standout on the project. The beautiful ballad pays tribute to Kelley’s wife, Brittney, who he has loved for over a decade. The quiet, yet filter-free song is quite possibly one of the best on the project.
Another standout on the project is a song called “Hold On, Cowboy.” The track effortlessly blends Kelley’s more traditional sound with honest storytelling. The song feels like a reminder to anyone to not give up, even when things feel hard. It is a true battle cry for anyone who feels alone in life, posing as a simple reminder that “tomorrow needs you.”
Ed & Mary Margaret’s Son is one of the most honest projects to come out of 2024. Brian Kelley brings his full self to his fans, refusing to hold anything back. These twelve songs personify the singer-songwriter’s growth as an artist, and also his true humanity. Go listen to the record ASAP!
