5 Things to Expect from Jon Pardi’s Album ‘Honkytonk Hollywood’

We chatted with country singer, Jon Pardi about his new album, Honkytonk Hollywood, out Friday, April 11th. Here are five things to expect from the upcoming project.

1. Honkytonk Hollywood is Jon Pardi’s most “grown-up” album to date, but it’s still a fun ‘Pardi’ vibe fans want.

“There’s less drinking and partying, but there’s still drinking and partying. I guess I have kids and starting a family, and just finding songs that I can relate to a little bit more and feel a little bit more is what this album is. It’s just a different chapter of my life.”

2. One more of the more emotion songs on the project, “She Drives Away” speaks to Pardi’s role a girl dad.

“I feel like that moment at CRS at The Ryman, was the first time we really played it. […] I think the emotional part of that was that we had this really great song that talks about being a dad, from asking your wife’s dad to marry her to having your own daughter, it’s a full circle song. […] That’s a song that I wish I wrote. Every song that I record is a song that I wish I wrote.”

3. The record as a whole is a little bit more rock than past Jon Pardi albums.

“I always try to have the best song on my record. I think sonically, it’s going to have a little more grit. It has a different mix and it’s a little more in your face. The vocals are just there. […] I think that’s what you’re going to hear on this record. The other records were more polished in comparison to this record. That’s where the rock n roll comes in.”

4. The last song on the project, “Kinda Wanna Keep It That Way” is a true testament to Pardi’s talent and what to expect from future music.

“I just think it’s staying true to yourself and being who you are. It talks about making mistakes. It’s just a fun song. It’s just a cool way to end an album. […] It just delivered that stamp of keep doing you and don’t be afraid to do something different on this album. It also sets the tone for the next record and what’s to come.”

5. Fans can catch some of the new songs on Pardi’s new tour coming to a city near you!

“I’m looking forward to playing new songs on tour. […] We have like five new songs that we’re starting off with playing on the new tour.”
