5 Reasons You Shouldn’t Miss Russell Dickerson on the VHS Tour

One of our favorite rising artists is Russell Dickerson and he is currently on tour with Dustin Lynch, Rhett Akins, and Thomas Rhett as it makes its way across the country this summer. The ‘Very Hot Summer Tour’ is coming to PNC Bank Arts Center this Saturday, August 3rd and comes to the iconic Madison Square Garden on September 20th.

Russell Dickerson

We’ve been featuring Dickerson since before he was signed to his record deal with Triple Tigers and way before his debut album. He was the very first artist at our first event in January of 2016 and we’ve championed his career since then. With two number one hits, “Yours” and “Blue Tacoma” and sold-out shows, he is well on his way to superstardom and here are 5 reasons why you should be sure to head into the venue early to catch his opening set.

1. His Energy Is Contagious

From the minute he steps on stage, Russell Dickerson brings the energy level to an 11. He runs around the stage performing his hit songs and gives everything he has during his shows. Most recently, we caught his set for New York’s Country 94.7 Kick Off to Summer and at the very end of his set, with the help of radio personality Kelly Ford, he removed his shoes, ran through the crowd and dove into the pool.

2. His Music Is Perfect To Sing Along To

Even if you have never seen Dickerson live, you will be able to sing along to his songs during his set, especially his summertime jam, “Float” which he instructs the crowd to just spell out the word to the infectious beat. His debut single “Yours” and his second number single to radio were played so often we can guarantee that you will know those words too. He even throws in an upbeat cover of Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” when he mashes the classic with his song “MGNO” (My Girls Night Out). Each time he closes his show with that mashup, you will find yourself jumping up and down to the beat with the entire venue.

3. You’ll Be In The Presence of True Love

If you have a good view of the side stage, always standing there, singing along and rooting on her husband is Russ’ wife, Kailey. “Yours” was written about their love story and Kailey is always his biggest supporter, she even filmed the music video for the song which was nominated for a CMT Award. To read more about how they met and fell in love, be sure to read our interview with his beautiful partner when she was our Woman of the Month back in 2018.

4. His First Two Songs Hit the Top of the Charts and His Next Single Is Climbing the Charts Too

Just a few months after his debut album Yours, was released, the title track hit the very top of the charts which is an incredible feat for a new artist. Then, almost a year to the day from the album release, his second single “Blue Tacoma” took that top spot. His latest single “Every Little Thing” is another absolute jam and is currently climbing the charts so when you hear it on the radio be sure to TURN IT UP.

5. You Can Say You Knew Him When

For followers of NYCountry Swag, you knew about the singer-songwriter way before his record deal and number ones since he jumped up on the bar to play our Country Brunch in January of 2016 and then hit Rockaway Beach for a Country Night on the Water in June of 2016. Watch a recap video from the incredible night of music above. If you’ve followed us since those early days you can claim you knew him when and if you haven’t you can be sure to take notice of this rising star before he takes off into superstardom.

Make sure you get into the venue early to see Dickerson’s sure to be killer set! If you don’t have your tickets yet grab them here for PNC Bank Arts Center this Saturday, August 3rd and for Madison Square Garden September 20th
