Fourth of July weekend was the perfect time for up and coming country artist Thomas Finchum to release his new single “Red, Wild & Blue.” Written by Finchum, Andy Skib, and Michael Whitworth, the song highlights what a great country America is and no matter where we come from, we are all more alike than people may realize. And while we may have different dreams, we all have the freedom and opportunity to chase them.
“We’re all corner bars with neon signs / Oh, we’re all chasing dreams and getting by wishing on stars / Earning our stripes under the same sky / We’re all red, wild & blue.”
The singer-songwriter is an excellent example of the message behind the song as he has always followed his dreams, starting as an athlete. You may remember Finchum during his time as a platform diver and being a part of the 2008 Olympic team. During his Olympic run, he placed 12th in the individual 10-meter and fifth in 10-meter synchronized with teammate David Boudhia. He retired from diving in 2012 and is now well on his way to becoming a great musician.
“Red, Wild & Blue” is the artists second single, he released his first single “Past the Front Porch” in May. His music career started as a songwriter with two of his songs appearing on the television show Nashville. He also co-wrote LOCASH’s song, “Kissing A Girl.” Finchum’s debut EP is due out later this year, and we can’t wait to hear it.
“Red, Wild & Blue” is now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released music here on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.
