Tenille Townes Plays Intimate Showcase at The Cutting Room In NYC
Last night a few lucky fan club members, 2 giveaway winners from NYCountry Swag, and members of the music industry were treated to a showcase from one of the most promising artists on the Sony Music Nashville roster, Tenille Townes. The Cutting Room, a cool, eclectic and intimate venue in midtown Manhattan was the perfect setting to hear Townes inspire others with her storytelling and powerful songs.
The Alberta, Canada native has a unique ability to sing meaningful music, with striking lyrics but adds an uptempo beat, keeping the crowds tapping their feet and singing along. The room last night was captivated by her, with her power stance guitar strumming throughout the 35-minute set. She performed “White Horse”, “Where You Are”, and a brand new tune, “Holding Out for the One”, that was just released last Friday on her EP The Road To the Lemonade Stand.
She took a few quiet moments to reflect on writing her current single, “Jersey On the Wall”, and the questions that she would like to ask God one day, before singing the devastatingly beautiful track. She also told the crowd that growing up int eh car with her family, she would listen to all types of music like Dolly Parton, Shania Twain, and with her dad, U2. She then covered “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”.
She closed her set with “Somebody’s Daughter” another unique take on life as we know it, examining the life of a homeless girl she passed one day on a car ride. Townes’ capacity for stringing together important music with playful, upbeat tempos is unmatched and her quick but poignant set last night left the entire audience wanting more.
Tenille Townes will be back on May 7th on her Road To The Lemonade Stand Tour. For tickets and more info click here.
