Walker Hayes Joins Forces with Carin León on Spanglish “Fancy Like”

Walker Hayes joins forces with Carin León on Spanglish rendition of his hit song “Fancy Like,” out today, October 1st. Learn more about the brand new track below.

Walker Hayes just released a new version of his hit song “Fancy Like” – a Spanish Remix with Latin Singer Carin León.

The remix is just as fun and catchy as the original, but with some Spanish flair! León brings his incredible vocals and puts his own twist on the tune. Hayes and León’s remix will kick off Amazon Music’s new “Whiskey & Tequila” playlist, which combines regional Mexican and country music, two of Amazon Music’s most popular genres. The song was released today as an Amazon Original, along with a behind-the-scenes video that shows Hayes welcoming León to Nashville and introducing to the lifestyle.

Hayes went viral on TikTok over the summer after he and his daughter released a dance video for “Fancy Like”. Within 24 hours, they knew the song had taken off. To date, it has been viewed more than 30 million times and has inspired more than a half-million original versions of the dance. In this time, Hayes’ TikTok followers have grown from 85,000 to 1.9 million.

“Fancy Like”, known to many as ‘The Applebees Song’, even led to a partnership between Hayes and the legendary chain restaurant. Hayes and his family have made cameos in their commercials, photos of them are on the menu, and the song allowed for the infamous Oreo Cookie milkshake to return to the menu by popular demand.

The traction of the song has now led to remixes with other prominent artists, only furthering the reach of the song. In addition to this remix with León, Hayes also released a remix with Kesha last month.

Listen to the hit song and purchase a ‘FANCY LIKE Back-to-School’ tee. Each order gets you exclusive access to Kelly Ford’s Teachers Lounge Virtual Show with Walker Hayes hosted by Country Swag happening on October 21st! Learn more here.

Walker Hayes: Country Stuff – EP Review

Walker Hayes’s new EP, Country Stuff, including the title track with Jake Owen, “Fancy Like,” and “What If We Did” featuring Carly Pearce, is out now, June 4th, on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new music.

There’s something uniquely Walker Hayes about Walker Hayes. While some are quick to criticize his quirky style as not country enough, there’s an undeniable quality to his music that allows the listener to immediately realize they are listening to Hayes. This is evident on his new EP, Country Stuff, out today, June 4th.

The new EP features Hayes trading verses with the likes of Jake Owen, Carly Pearce, and country singer/songwriter extraordinaire, Lori McKenna. He shows his fun side on tracks like “Country Stuff” and “Fancy Like,” while showing his more serious and introspective side on songs like “What If We Did” and “Briefcase.”

For Hayes, the Owen duet holds special significance. “Having Jake Owen on ‘Country Stuff’ is a full-circle moment for me” Hayes shares in a statement. “When I got my first publishing deal in town, Jake was one of the first artists to put a hold on one of my songs. That moment meant so much to me. To now be releasing a song with him on it… that’s just mind-blowing.”

“Fancy Like” celebrates the simpler things in life, in a tongue-in-cheek way, Hayes musing about all the ways he’s fancy. The song is a super catchy bop, name-dropping everything from Wendy’s and Applebees to Tesla, Natty Ice, and Vespa.Yeah we fancy like Applebees // On a date night,” He sings in that patented style. “Got that Bourbon Street Steak // With the Oreo Shake // And some whipped cream on the top too // Two straws, one check // Girl, I got you.”

Hayes shows his softer side on “Make You Cry” and “I Hope You Miss Me.” On “Make You Cry,” he celebrates all the ways he makes his wife cry, out of happiness. It’s such a clever take on making someone tear up. “I know I hit the right emotion,” He sings, “When your eyes fill up with ocean.” Meanwhile, “I Hope You Miss Me” sounds like it could easily be about the one that got away. However, Hayes has previously shared that the special song is actually dedicated to his daughter who he knows is destined for Hollywood when she’s older. While he may wish her the best, he can’t help but hope that she remembers him. “People like you don’t get old with people like me,” He sings over twangy guitars on the catchy and relatable track. “I hope you find yourself,” He admits. But selfishly, I hope you miss me.”

The EP ends with a one-two punch of female collaborations, starting off with the Carly Pearce duet, “What If We Did.” The track finds the one-night-stand pair musing that they may not make it long term, but what if they did? “That only happens never,” Hayes sings as they consider a possible future together, Pearce’s angelic voice adding a beautiful richness of layers to the already dreamy track.

For the album’s final track, “Briefcase,” Hayes called in Nashville heavy-hitter Lori McKenna (“Girl Crush,” “Humble and Kind.”) On the track, Hayes paints a brilliant parallel between his father’s briefcase and his own guitar. He sings about how he resembles his father in all aspects, and how “a guitar doesn’t fall too far from a briefcase.” The brutal honesty on display here shows Hayes at his finest.

As a singer-rapper, Walker Hayes fills a certain niche with undeniably catchy songs like “Country Stuff” and “Fancy Like.” However, he truly shines on deeper material, as evidenced on tracks like“Briefcase” and “Make You Cry.” The Country Stuff EP allows Hayes to flex both sides of his personality, and there’s something for everyone here.

Walker Hayes Collaborates with Jake Owen on New Song “Country Stuff”

Walker Hayes is joined by Jake Owen on a collaborative new track. “Country Stuff” is available everywhere you buy or stream music now, May 7th. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new music.

Walker Hayes continues to push the boundaries with his music, never relying on one set style or sound. This is one of the reasons we love him and appreciate his artistry! So far this year, the singer-songwriter has released two heartfelt songs, “Hope You Miss Me” and “Make You Cry.” Today, the singer showcases his fun side in a collaboration with Jake Owen called “Country Stuff.”

Feeling like a bop from the first lyric, the song is unlike anything Hayes has ever released before. The singer shared in an Instagram post that the song is “going to blow your dang mind… and frickin Jake Owen is still blowing my mind,” and we agree. Hayes and Owen partnering up is a unique combination we can get on board with. The new single feels like a groovy, summer jam, perfect timing for this type of song.

“I like country stuff // I sip whiskey from the handle // I got dogs named Jack and Daniel // And my favorite shirts are flannel // Me too baby // I tear up some turnip greens // Now taxidermy that’s art // Favorite movie // You serious Clark // You know I love fishing in the dark // the song, and the real thing”

Hayes has been on a roll this year pumping out new music that fans are loving. We can only hope that this means his next full-length project is in the works or touring will be coming sooner rather than later. In the meantime, the singer takes to his social media pages often to entertain his fans with his talent, his love for his family, and his fun antics.

Walker Hayes Releases New Song “Make You Cry”

Walker Hayes just released his latest single, “Make You Cry”, available now, April 9th, everywhere you buy or stream music. Coming off his latest single, “Hope You Miss Me”, a tribute song to his daughter, “Make You Cry” is a love song to his wife. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

Walker Hayes has one of the most unique sounds and story-telling capabilities in country music. The way his songs reel you in forces you to pay attention to each and every lyric. Take for example, “Don’t Let Her”. This is a song that you can’t help but be happy about because it shows how immensely he loves his wife down to all the little details he shares about who she is and what she likes, even though it’s all in the event that something were to happen to him and her not wanting to move on to someone else.

“Craig” is another song that tells you so much about Hayes and his family in just three minutes. A song so essential to Hayes’ story, he named his charitable foundation “Be A Craig”, after the man who gave him and his family a car big enough for all of the kids to be buckled in when the singer-songwriter was struggling to make ends meet, raise a family, and chase a dream.

These songs and so many others are a testament to Hayes’ incredible songwriting ability. While they may not always have such a powerful message, his style remains true to his music, in each and every track, and how he writes and develops each of his songs.

Just like he always does, Hayes uses his witty play on words to make us think his song is about something completely different, similar to his most recent singles  “I Hope You Miss Me”, “Trash My Heart” , and “Shut Up Kenny”. In “Make You Cry”, Hayes tells us about all the ways he loves to make the one he loves cry happy tears. Just like he did when he’d play guitar for her at 16, or when he proposed to her at 23, making her cry happy tears is one of his favorite things to do. He can’t get over how much he loves seeing her eyes fill with tears, because that’s when he knows he’s doing something right.

“I love to make you cry, I // Know I hit that right emotion, when your eyes fill up with oceans // Girl I love to make you cry, I // Know I’m really onto something, when that mascara’s running // Girl I love to make you cry”

Walker Hayes Debuts New Song, “I Hope You Miss Me” For His Daughter

Walker Hayes’ new song “I Hope You Miss Me” is available now, February 19th, everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

Walker Hayes’ latest song, “I Hope You Miss Me” was written for his daughter who he believes will go chase her dreams in Hollywood the second she gets the chance.

The song is a beautiful message from a proud and supportive parent who wants their child to chase their dreams even if it means they’ll miss them while they’re doing it. Hayes knows that his daughter’s dream is to be in LA and admits that he always knew that’s where she’d end up and that he knows people like her don’t get old with people like him. He hopes she gets every callback, gets her star on Hollywood Blvd, runs into J. LO, finds someone to run lines with and never gets homesick. He wants her to have the world and for it to be everything she ever dreamed of and more. Only after all of this does he hope she misses him a little along the way.

I hope you’re living out by the ocean / That’s where you always said you were going / LA baby on the sunset driving / City of Angels, you should fit right in / You want the part, baby go get it / can’t wait to see your name in those credits / I hope you find yourself but selfishly, I hope you miss me

Kylie Morgan Releases “Cuss A Little” Featuring Walker Hayes

Kylie Morgan’s new song, “Cuss A Little” features Walker Hayes and is available now on all streaming platforms. Written by Morgan and Hayes, take a look below as we dig deeper into the track.

Yoga-enthusiast turned country singer-songwriter, Kylie Morgan released “Cuss A Little” featuring Walker Hayes on Friday, October 2nd. Produced by Ben Johnson and the Grammy-award winning, Shane McAnally, this track reveals Morgan’s honest, yet sometimes contradicting personality.

I’m just human, buried in denial / I judge people and I read the bible / I drink too much but my body is a temple / I love Jesus but I cuss just a little

“Cuss A Little” is an anthem for every young adult trying to figure out who they are and who they want to be. She discusses all the things she stands for but cannot follow-up on. For example, she wants to be straight up with people but continues to talk about them behind their backs. Hayes, who co-wrote the song with her, backs Morgan’s humble voice along with a simple, acoustic melody. This is one of the first songs she wrote upon moving to Nashville at the age of nineteen.

“Cuss A Little’ is truthfully me, no filter,” Morgan shared in a recent press release. “This song has always meant a lot to me and I’m so glad I finally get to share it with others.”

Hayes adds, “I can’t believe Kylie was in her teens when we wrote this.  Even crazier how it has stood the test of time.  I know this song and the way she and Shane were able to bring it together will most definitely meet people where they are and make them pull over. I did when I heard it the first time.”

Morgan began writing songs in her hometown of Newcastle, Oklahoma when she was only 12 years old. A little over a year ago, she signed with UMG Nashville and the SMACKSongs team, under the guidance McAnally and Josh Osborne. Earlier this year, she released her fun, yet vulnerable track, “Break Things,” which continues to accumulate impressive streaming numbers. Learn more about Morgan in our Swag Spotlight.

Our ‘I Love New York’ Series features artists in the country music community taking over our Instagram Story each week to give us the Top 5 Things they love most about New York City.

This week, “Trash My Heart” singer-songwriter, Walker Hayes took over to give his Top 5 Picks in the personalized videos here on Instagram Highlights plus a rundown below.

#5 – Broadway

Hayes kicks off his Top 5 Picks with Broadway. “I’ve seen Bruce Springsteen do his thing on Broadway and I’ve seen a lot of the musicals and Broadway shows. My favorite would probably have to be Ragtime,” he says.

#4 – 9/11 Memorial

The 9/11 Memorial lands Hayes’ fourth pick calling it, “well done, beautiful, touching, moving, and life-altering.” “It’s just really an exceptional memorial and I think anybody going to New York needs to see that.”

#3 – People Watching

Who doesn’t love to people watch? Hayes chose people-watching in his #3 spot, “There’s always somebody up, no matter what hour you wake up. There’s always somebody out doing something,— I love that hustle and that busyness.”

#2 – Baseball

We have to agree, there’s not much better than New York baseball. Admitting to being a Braves fan himself, Hayes adds catching a New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox game at Yankees Stadium is one of his favorite New York memories. “It was just phenomenal, — to be around by that many baseball lovers, that diehard…”

#1 – Shake Shack

Hayes’ #1 Pick for his Top 5 Things he loves about NYC in our ‘I Love New York’ Series is: Shake Shack. “Every night that I’m in New York, that’s where I end up. That’s where I get my nightcap.”

Country Artists Making A Difference Through Music

A huge part of our company is using our platform to give back to the community. We think it is important to support the heroes among us every day. Today, we wanted to highlight some artists in the country music industry, who have taken it upon themselves to do the same and have been making a difference through their music.

  1. Walker Hayes Partners with NY Country Swag

We teamed up with our friend Walker Hayes and his ‘Be A Craig’ Fund, as well as,  NY Country 94.7 to help feed the frontlines. With each purchase of our Kindness Isn’t Canceled t-shirt, all profits will be donated to provide meals by IGC Hospitality for our healthcare heroes. Of course, the added incentive is that everyone who purchases a shirt will be invited to an EXCLUSIVE virtual show by Walker himself. The show will take place on June 17th. More details here.

  1. Kane Brown’s “Worldwide Beautiful”

The superstar recently released the long-awaited tour namesake single. “Worldwide Beautiful” is an impactful song that is geared towards encouraging people to acknowledge our differences but to love each other because of them rather than in spite of them. Brown released the song early because of today’s climate and is donating all proceeds to the Boys and Girls Club, an organization that enables young people to reach their full potential.

  1. Thomas Rhett is a Light with “Be A Light”

Thomas Rhett has been a pioneer for hope, during these unsettling times since day one. Back in March, Rhett teamed up with Reba, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott, and Christian singer Chris Tomlin to release a beautiful and much-needed song called “Be A Light.” All of the proceeds of this song are going to the COVID-19 Relief fun for MusiCares, which directly supports those in the music community.

  1. Luke Combs Gives Back

Platinum-selling megastar, Luke Combs has been a staple and a force in country music, even during these times. Along with premiering a powerful song entitled “Six Feet Apart,” back in April, Combs joined Miller Lite, supporting bartenders with a live stream event. The event raised millions of dollars for those who were out of work to the pandemic.

We look forward to seeing more and more country artists step up and find ways to help others give back, during these unprecedented times. As always, we are thankful for this community and for country music for getting us through.
