Thomas Rhett Album Release Week in New York City

Platinum-selling singer-songwriter, Thomas Rhett arrived in New York City this week to celebrate the release of his fourth studio album Center Point Road, which is available everywhere you buy or stream music today (5/31). With a many number one songs already, successful collaborations, and sold-out shows to his name, Rhett is sure to find success with his new record that perfectly embodies both nostalgia and personal moments with fun and lively summer anthems.

To promote his new LP, Rhett headed to the iHeartRadio Theatre in downtown Manhattan yesterday afternoon to meet and play for some of his lucky fans, as part of iHeart’s album release party. iHeart’s Amy Brown of the ‘Bobby Bones Show’ introduced Rhett to the stage, where an intimate amount of fans were eagerly waiting for the reigning ACM Male Artist of the Year to start his performance.

The entertainer sang songs off the new record, including his smash hit, “Look What God Gave Her,” the heartfelt “Remember You Young” “That Old Truck,” and the rowdy, “Beer Can’t Fix.” Although some songs were just released, fans in the audience jammed out and sang along to each and every song, leaving the artists awestruck and grateful. Although this was an album release party, the singer made sure to mix in some fan favorites as well, including “Marry Me” “Die A Happy Man,” “Life Changes,” and ending with, “Crash and Burn.”

In between songs, Brown interacted with the singer, asking him his inspiration for the new album, the writing process, and about his upcoming ‘Very Hot Summer Tour. Rhett shared that he knows a song is good when his daughters want to listen to it again and again, and of course, that his beautiful wife, Lauren is his muse.

Next up, New York Country Swag headed to SubCulture in SOHO to catch Pandora Music’s Sound On Special With Thomas Rhett presented by Marshalls. Fans lined up down the block, in hopes of being one of the few lucky fans to snag a coveted seat to the invite-only event. Once inside, guests were greeted with a cocktail and a Thomas Rhett lanyard, and of course, invited to take a photo in front of a backdrop, inspired by the Center Point Road album art. After a few minutes, attendees were escorted downstairs to enjoy some snacks and drinks. Once seated, guests were gifted a gift card to Marshalls, as well as, a suede official Thomas Rhett and Pandora koozie to keep.

The lights in the beautiful and intimate venue began to dim, as both SiriusXM’s The Highway radio host, Storme Warren and Thomas Rhett took the stage to talk everything Center Point Road for the broadcast that will air this weekend. Seated across from each other in comfy chairs, Warren and Rhett dived deeper into the singer’s inspiration for the new album, highlighted his favorite songs, and gave audience members a first listen of ten of the sixteen songs off the record. The duo even recounted about Rhett’s journey in the music industry, offering valuable advice to always stay true to who you are.

Although only 29, as Warren liked to say, Rhett shared “people say that 29 is too young to be nostalgic and I say bull crap,” as the singer-songwriter explained the reflective creative process that embodies the new record. He added that he likes to write music based on what he’s listening to, which inspired the opening track off the album, “Up,” a modern take on gospel music with an incredibly inspiring message. Invitees also learned that the track was written on the same day as his previous hits “Unforgettable” and “Marry Me.” Warren and Rhett went through a similar process with nine other songs- Rhett provided the audience with some context, and each track played afterward.

Both the iHeart and Pandora events were filled with highlights, but one of the most magical moments, during the interview was when Rhett spoke about the songs inspired by his wife, “Notice” and “The Dream You Never Had.” Each song was both a thank you and an apology to Lauren for always standing by him; even the times when he is in his own head or on the road. He left the audience in awe and in tears with the tracks, and his meaningful statement, “when you’re on each others’ team so much, there’s nothing that can break ya.”

At the end of the interview, Rhett was gifted with a plaque from Pandora for 3 billion spins on the streaming platform, a feat that music icons, Keith Urban and Fleetwood Mac had just recently achieved. As the night came to a close, Rhett humbly and graciously thanked everyone in the room for supporting him and his music and was escorted off stage, during a standing ovation.

Soon thereafter, attendees made their way out of the venue with a cookie and a t-shirt in hand, and excitement buzzing around, as we all eagerly awaited for the clock to strike midnight on album release day. In addition to the new album, Rhett’s “Very Hot Summer” tour just kicked off with his dad Rhett Akins, Russell Dickerson, and Dustin Lynch. Hitting thirty-nine cities across the country, there are plenty of opportunities to see this star-studded concert. New York fans will have the chance to see this tour at the legendary Madison Square Garden on September 20, 2019.

Thomas Rhett Continues Album Release Week on The Today Show

Thomas Rhett is celebrating his newest album released this week, Center Point Road, with a few huge events here in New York including a performance at the iHeartRadio Theater, media interviews, a Pandora listening party and this morning’s Today Show concert series appearance.

Carson Daly, Savannah Guthrie, and Craig Melvin introduced Rhett and all took turns sharing praises about Rhett’s new album saying, “It is already blowing up on the iTunes charts.” Prior to the album coming out, Rhett had released songs “Look What God Gave Her” and “Center Point Road,” with Kelsea Ballerini, that have already proven to be hits.

The country singer started off the morning with his hit “Look What God Gave Her” and rocked the crowd despite how early it was. Everyone was dancing and singing along to songs off his new album as well as some throwbacks including “Crash and Burn.” For exclusive clips head to our Instagram Stories.

Rhett slowed it down for another track off his album, “That Old Truck.” The song brings back the nostalgia about his first car in high school. “I fell in love in it / Made a lifetime full of memories / On a half tank of gasoline / I learned just who I wasn’t and who I was / In that old truck, mmm / In that old truck” Swaying back and forth to Rhett’s soft strum on the guitar, the fans were soaking up every minute of it.

NYCS First Impression: Thomas Rhett ‘Center Point Road’

Upon first listen, Thomas Rhett’s Center Point Road may come off as a fairly standard collection of country ballads and modern party tunes. Yet, upon further listening, Center Point Road is a collection of love letters. While some are to the expected recipient, his wife Lauren, there are also declarations of love to his home town (“Center Point Road”), his first car (“That Old Truck”), his younger days (“Remember You Young”), and his favorite beverage (“Beer Can’t Fix.)

“For me, Center Point Road really symbolizes what it was like to grow up in Hendersonville [Tennessee],” said Rhett in a statement. “First dates, first football games, first heartbreak, first kisses, success, and failures. I really feel like that road shaped who I am today, and it felt fitting because the record, for the most part, is pretty nostalgic. Songs like ‘Almost,’ ‘That Old Truck’ and especially ‘Center Point Road,’ really describe who I was as a kid and teenager, and who I’ve become as an adult.”

On the 16-track collection, all co-written by Rhett, he seamlessly soars from slick pop-leaning tracks to more traditional country offerings. The album shows Rhett in two main modes: reflective and ready for a good time. There are songs for both moods, and while Rhett rarely strikes out musically, he also manages to hit quite a few home runs on his latest release.

While Rhett can release a party song with the best of them, and they are aplenty, he shines on the slower, more reflective tracks. He’s at his best when he’s singing about his love for his wife, as evidenced on “Blessed.” Rhett sings, “People say I’m lucky/ but lucky ain’t the word/ Oh I’m blessed.” There’s also “Notice,” which shows that Rhett notices the little things about the woman he loves, revealing, “You think that I don’t notice, but I do.”

In a similar vein are “Dream You Never Had” and “Almost.” On the former, Rhett sings the praises of his wife who’s living his crazy life with him. “You married the music the day that you married me,” Rhett proclaims here. “Baby I’m just the singer / And you are the songs that I sing.” On “Almost,” Rhett reflects on all of the “almosts” in his past, the things he “almost” did or didn’t do that would’ve changed the entire course of his life. This is the Thomas Rhett equivalent of Garth Brooks’ “Unanswered Prayers” and it’s truly a poignant way to end the album.

If you’re here for a good time, this album is full of songs for that as well. In fact, Rhett has single-handedly created our summer playlist with songs like “VHS,” “Sand,” and “Barefoot.” In case you were wondering, “VHS” stands for “Very Hot Summer,” and is most definitely not about those tapes that went in your VCR.

Prior to the release of Center Point Road, Rhett released a handful of tracks including his collaborations with Jon Pardi (“Beer Can’t Fix”), Little Big Town (“Don’t Threaten Me With a Good Time”) and Kelsea Ballerini (“Center Point Road”.) Interestingly, each of these tracks brings out a different side of the singer, as he’s a bit more country on the Pardi collab, a bit more funky with LBT, and a bit more anthemic pop-rock with Ballerini.

On Center Point Road, you can hear the superstar experimenting with different themes and sounds. The album’s opening track “Up” sets the tone as Rhett harmonizes over funky horns and unique grooves, singing along to a choir that reminds us that “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright.”

For Rhett, everything is definitely going to be alright. With Center Point Road, he’s sure to continue his ascent through the ranks of the country music community. In fact, I think it’s safe to say that it’s only a matter of time before that coveted Entertainer of the Year trophy is on his mantle.

Kelsea Ballerini Joins Thomas Rhett on “Center Point Road”

For Thomas Rhett, “Center Point Road” (released today, May 24) is a celebration of small town life. As the title track of his forthcoming album, due out May 31, the song features Kelsea Ballerini and is a nostalgic look at growing up in a Southern small town.

Written by Rhett, Jesse Frasure, Amy Wadge, and Cleve Wilson, “Center Point Road” features Rhett and Ballerini trading verses over a lush, anthemic track. Musically, it leans towards the anthemic pop-rock of the likes of the Chainsmokers or Imagine Dragons, while lyrically it’s a tried and true country tune in the vein of Kenny Chesney’s “Boys of Fall.”

The lyrics celebrate first loves, Friday night football games, and everything that makes growing up great. On the chorus, Rhett and Ballerini sing, “We wrote our own destiny/ In parking lots and empty streets/ We got high on you and me/ Jumped over cracks beneath our feet/ We thought it would never end/ Then watched it go like summer wind / When growing up was just a dream / And Friday night was everything.”

Rhett grew up in Hendersonville, Tennessee, while Ballerini was raised in nearby Knoxville, and that rings true on the lyrics here. “For me, Center Point Road really symbolizes what it was like to grow up in Hendersonville,” said Rhett in a statement. “First dates, first football games, first heartbreak, first kisses, success, and failures. Thomas Rhett will host a special Center Point Road Experience album release event on Saturday, June 8 during CMA Fest. He’ll also hit Madison Square Garden as a part of the Very Hot Summer Tour 2019 on Friday, September 20, with Dustin Lynch, Russell Dickerson, and Rhett Akins.

Thomas Rhett and Jon Pardi Duet on “Beer Can’t Fix”

On paper, Thomas Rhett and Jon Pardi seem to be an odd duo. Thomas Rhett is skinny jeans, Converse, and “new” country music, while Jon Pardi is a cowboy hat, Wranglers, and more traditional “old” country. Yet, on “Beer Can’t Fix,” released today (May 17), they make a perfect pair.

The track is an uptempo ode to beer, which just may be the universal love language of country music. According to the song, written by Rhett, Julian Bunetta, Zach Skelton, and Ryan Tedder, there’s absolutely nothing that “a beer can’t fix.” The song is perfect for Rhett’s live show, and it’s easy to imagine throngs of fans with their beers lifted in the air, passionately singing along. Plus, the “Ain’t nothin’ that a beer can’t fix” T-shirts practically design themselves here.

Pardi and Rhett trade verses on “Beer Can’t Fix,” declaring a cold one the simplest solution to all of life’s problems. Whether you’re stressed from work, rain on a vacation, or a lost love, beer is always there to save the day. On the chorus, they celebrate beer, singing, “Ain’t nothing that a beer can’t fix/ Ain’t no pain it can’t wash away / From the moment that it hits your lips / Makes those clouds look a little less gray / Oh, you could be lonely / Or heartbroken / Or hungover from the night before / Turn that frown into a smile real quick /There ain’t nothing that a beer can’t fix.”

“Beer Can’t Fix,” was released today in advance of Rhett’s Center Point Road, due out May 31. It marks the fifth track to be released from the album, following “Remember You Young,” “That Old Truck,” “Look What God Gave Her,” and “Don’t Threaten Me With a Good Time,” featuring Little Big Town.

Rhett will hit New York City’s Madison Square Garden as a part of his Very Hot Summer Tour 2019 on Friday, September 20, with supporting acts Dustin Lynch, Russell Dickerson, and Rhett Akins. Tickets are available here.

Thomas Rhett Gets Sentimental on “Remember You Young”

As an artist, there’s nothing Thomas Rhett can’t do. He’s made us dance with “T-Shirt” and “Craving You”, he’s made us swoon with “Die a Happy Man”, and now he’s making us cry with his newest release, “Remember You Young.” Co-written by Rhett, Jesse Frasure, and Ashley Gorley, the track is a nostalgic one, recalling the younger days of his life and of those in it.

Today (April 19), Rhett took to Twitter to share the meaning of the song to him, “This song is about the moments with loved ones solidified in my mind forever. What my eyes will see even when we’re grandparents to our babies’ babies.”

Leading up to the release of “Remember You Young,” Rhett has been teasing the track on social media, posting old photos, adorable videos of his children, and snippets of the song’s poignant lyrics. There’s the shout out to his childhood friends who are all grown up, straight-laced and married now and the recollection of closing down college bars with his college sweetheart turned wife, Lauren Akins. However, it’s the verse dedicated to his children that’s sure to choke you up.

“And hey, babies, crawling on the carpet / No, you won’t be that little for long / One day, you’ll move away, but you’re still gonna stay / This innocent after you’re gone/ ‘Cause no matter how much time goes by/ And no matter how much we grow up/ For worse or for better, from now ’til forever / I’ll always remember you young.”

Based on that verse alone, the song is sure to be played at weddings for years to come. This song should do for Rhett what “Die a Happy Man” did back in 2015, and further propel him into country superstardom. While Rhett shines on all types of tracks, it’s on the heartfelt and meaningful ballads that he’s at his best, and “Remember You Young” is no exception. The song will appear on Rhett’s forthcoming Center Point Road album, due out May 31.

Watch Thomas Rhett’s Colorful Video for “Look What God Gave Her”

A song about how much he loves his wife; a topic that ACM Male Vocalist of the Year Thomas Rhett sings about best. Nashville’s biggest family man was back at it, releasing the music video for his lead single “Look What God Gave Her” from his upcoming album, Center Point Road. Watch it below:

In a color-blasted, CGI-built set, the video shows Rhett dancing, playing guitar, drumming and of course, singing to his wife, Lauren Akins. His children, Willa Gray and Ada James, the women from Nashville’s Thistle Farms and the founder of Love + One, a Christian organization that helps at-risk children and families in Uganda, were also featured in this video.

“When we started talking about the music video, it was natural to include Lauren, but I also wanted to include other inspirational women who are doing some amazing things,” said Thomas Rhett in a recent press release. “Rather than hire actors for the video we connected with the founder of Love One and her family, the women of Thistle Farms and an incredible artist who also did our art for the single cover to come be featured. Being able to spotlight them and celebrate these strong women along with my wife and daughters was such a special experience.”

Throughout the video, you see artist Syndey Clawson, daughter of hit songwriter Rodney Clawson, in a green jumpsuit creating something with black paint on the ground. As the video fades out, a painting of Rhett is revealed; a cool ending to a very artistic music video.

Akins has appeared in many of Rhett’s videos in the past such as “Die a Happy Man”, “Vacation”, “and Star of the Show”, “Craving You” and Life Changes”. This is ironic because Rhett says she is not totally comfortable with starring in these videos. “Lauren is the best sport, especially since she doesn’t love being in front of the camera,” Rhett told CMT.

Like most of Rhett’s videos, “Look What God Gave Her” was directed by TK McKamy. McKamy has directed videos for Florida Georgia Line, Lady Antebellum, Chris Lane, RaeLynn and many other country artists. He has won two CMT awards including the 2016 Male Video of the Year for Rhett’s “Die a Happy Man” and the 2017 Duo Video of the Year for FGL’s “H.O.L.Y.”, and two CMA awards including the 2015 Video of the Year for Maddie & Tae’s “Girl in a Country Song” and the 2018 Video of the Year for Rhett’s “Marry Me”.

Thomas Rhett Premieres A New Song on Saturday Night Live

It was an eventful weekend for Thomas Rhett as the two-time iHeartRadio Country Artist of the Year released two new songs, announced his new, upcoming album and appeared as the musical guest on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. Rhett performed his new single “Look What God Gave Her” and premiered a new tune, “Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time”, marking the first live performances of both songs.

Rhett, in his ripped up, forest green t-shirt was introduced by SNL host, John Mulaney to perform his new pop-infused single, “Look What God Gave Her”. In this song, Rhett sings about how beautiful his wife, Lauren Akins is.

Rhett had a lot of fun ending the show with a brand new song, “Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time”. Rhett performed with two backup singers and a horn section that danced along to the beat. The singer-songwriter was running around and dancing all over the stage singing this funky, upbeat track. This song reminded us of Rhett’s “I Feel Good” from his album Tangled Up and “Country Gold” from the deluxe version of Life Changes because it makes you want to get up and dance along.

“Pour a little liquor, make this living room twirl / Watch me set this night on fire / Baby, you know I love a party / Don’t threaten me with a good time”

Blending genres is what makes Rhett so successful in this industry. We’ve seen the singer-songwriter go full country with songs like “All-American Middle Class White Boy”, but then veer towards pop and even EDM with songs like “Leave Right Now”. “Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time” combines country with a little pop and R&B; sounding like a track from an Earth, Wind and Fire album. Rhett released a studio version on Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming platforms immediately after the show which features Little Big Town. This song will be the second track on his new album Center Point Road which comes out May 31^st.

We hope to see these hits on Rhett’s Very Hot Summer Tour setlist which begins in Washington on May 17th. Rhett is bringing along special guests, Dustin Lynch, Russell Dickerson and his father, Rhett Atkins. It’s Here! Thomas Rhett’s Next Single “Look What God Gave Her”

Multi-platinum selling performer, Thomas Rhett dropped his new romantic but groovy single “Look What God Gave Her” today. Fans can expect to hear this song, as well as some more highly anticipated music from Rhett this weekend on Saturday Night Live.

“Look What God Gave Her” is the perfect example of Rhett’s take on fusing other genres with country, which is described in a recent press release as “electro-country”. “I think I played this song 2,000 times in a month after we first wrote it,” he said in a recent press release. “It makes me want to dance. It makes me want to move.”

Rhett blows us away with another song inspired by his wife Lauren but this time with a more up-tempo vibe. “My wife is so beautiful, but at the same time she’s inwardly beautiful, she’s funny, she’s kind, she’s the best mom I know…and she’s hilarious. It’s really just about thanking God for the human being he made, and singing it in a fun way.”

The single is also a perfect first taste of what’s to come from Rhett. He describes the new upbeat tune as “the perfect song to take fans into summer.” The song was co-written by Rhett, alongside his talented, hit-making father Rhett Akins, as well as Julian Bunetta, John Ryan, and J Cash.

Fans also got the news today that we can expect a fourth album titled Center Point Road from the singer in May and it is available for pre-order here.

More info is expected to be revealed soon about the forthcoming studio album. The title Center Point Road was inspired by the street in his Tennessee hometown that shaped and influenced much of his life experiences. The singer-songwriter also stated in the press release that he finds himself “getting back to his roots.”

Top Country Songs Inspired By Clothing

When it comes to some of the coolest clothes in country music, you can look no further than NYCountry Swag. I mean, have you seen our new baseball caps?! Since NYCS has our own brand of country music inspired merchandise, we started thinking about the correlation between country music and clothes and came up with a list of our favorite songs about articles of clothing.

From “Red High Heels” to “Pink Sunglasses” and from “T-Shirt” to “The Jacket,” here are some of our favorite country songs about clothing.

1. Thomas Rhett: T-Shirt

On “T-Shirt,” Thomas Rhett celebrates young love, reckless nights, and the morning after one of those wild nights. “Next thing I know you were wearing my T-Shirt right there,” Rhett sings. “Your hair messed up like a Guns-N-Roses video.” “T-Shirt” hit number one on the Country Airplay charts and appeared on Rhett’s 2015 album Tangled Up. The fun piece of country-pop perfection was written by superstar writers, Ashley Gorley, Luke Laird, and Shane McAnally.

2. Ashley McBryde: The Jacket

2018 was a huge breakout year for Ashley McBryde on the heels of her album Girl Going Nowhere featuring songs like “A Little Dive Bar in Dahlonega” and “American Scandal.” However, arguably the most personal track on the album is “The Jacket,” co-written by McBryde, Olivia Rudeen, and Neal Coty. On the autobiographical track, McBryde sings about her father and an old denim jacket that “has seen better days,” but has experienced more than most people, including “2,000 bonfires, a hitchhike to Boulder,” and that has “seen Willie Nelson in four or five states.” Sadly, the star of this song was stolen from McBryde in October 2017 when someone broke into her truck in East Nashville while she was away playing a show.

3. Dylan Scott: Ball Cap

On “Ball Cap,” Dylan Scott celebrates the way his girl looks in one of his beloved baseball caps. While the girl “don’t know a thing about the Braves” and “could care less about the game,” Scott admits that he “wore it all the time, but it’s never been worn like that.” The twangy, up-tempo track appeared on Scott’s debut self-titled album and was co-written by Scott, Cassidy Lynn Alexander, and Forest Whitehead.

4. Miranda Lambert: Pink Sunglasses

Written by Luke Dick, Natalie Hemby, and Rodney Clawson, Miranda Lambert’s “Pink Sunglasses” is a moment of levity on 2016’s double album, The Weight of These Wings. Lambert’s sunglasses may have only been $9.99, but prove that an impulse purchase may sometimes be the best thing that happens to someone. “In my pink sunglasses, always makes the world a little better,” Lambert sings. “You can try ’em any time you need a change of weather.”

5. Kellie Pickler: Red High Heels

In 2006, Kellie Pickler released Small Town Girl, featuring the hit single “Red High Heels,” strutting her way right into the hearts of country music fans. While she may have finished sixth on the fifth season of American Idol, Pickler parlayed that into a music career thanks to her debut single about a girl’s favorite pair of shoes. Written by Pickler, Christopher March Lindsey, Karyn Rochelle, and Aimee Mayo, “Red High Heels” is about a girl leaving a no-good guy in the sassiest way possible. “Well, you can watch me walk if you want to, want to, I’ll bet you want me back now, don’t you, don’t you?” Pickler sings, “I’m about to show you just how missin’ me feels in my red high heels.”

6. Jerrod Niemann: Blue Bandana

On 2015’s “Blue Bandana,” Jerrod Niemann pay homage to music’s favorite festivals and unique attire. Written by Ben Goldsmith, CJ Solar, and Andrew Scott Wills, “Blue Bandana” would not have sounded out of place on a Kenny Chesney record. It’s a light, summery tune about a girl sporting a blue bandana who Niemann meets at Merle Fest. While Niemann declines the chance to accompany her on her “gyspy dream” festival-hopping, he spends his time in his “beat up van,” and “driving across the land, looking for a blue bandana.”

7. Jon Pardi: Cowboy Hat

“Cowboy Hat” is the second track on Jon Pardi’s 2016 album, California Sunrise, and it’s a fun country tune celebrating the genre’s most famous accessory. Co-written by Pardi, Brett Beavers, and Bart Butler, the song is an ode to a girl who looks good in nothing but Pardi’s hat. With his traditional style and southern twang, on “Cowboy Hat,” Pardi croons for her to “come a little closer, give me some of that, Baby, you look so good, in nothing but my cowboy hat.”
