Florida Georgia Line Tries to Persuade Jimmy Fallon To Be Special Guests
It has been a busy two weeks for Florida Georgia Line as they have been everywhere promoting their new album Can’t Say I Ain’t Country that came out on Friday, February 15th. The country duo performed “Talk You Out Of It” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on February 14th, and just twelve days later, they were back to perform “Colorado.”
This visit on the Tonight Show was much different than their last, as it seemed to be more of a comedy sketch than a musical performance. During the performance, the camera cut to Fallon standing on the side of the stage when a person supposedly named Jasper Hogs introduces himself to Fallon; he says he is with Big Loud Management, FGL’s record label. He explains to Fallon that this is the boys’ sixth time performing on the show and they should be guest stars, not just the musical act. Fallon tells him to talk to the booker which angers Hogs.
“We come here six times, no couch; just a big, old, fat slice of ‘talk to the booker’”, rants Hogs. “Those boys have stories to tell on that couch! I’d hate to see them start shopping their wares elsewhere.”
Fallon then hurried away to shake Hubbard’s and Kelley’s hands on stage and to tell the audience their new album is out now. Hubbard and Kelley also began to antagonize Fallon about getting a spot on the couch. “I had sushi for the first time last night,” Kelley whispered in Fallon’s ear, in a joking attempt to get him to bring them on as guests. “I actually didn’t think I was going to like it…but I loved it.”
“Maybe we should talk on the couch sometime. I think the couch needs us, Jimmy,” Hubbard told Fallon before they cut to commercial. “We’re family, Jimmy. We’re family.”
This comedy bit on The Tonight Show adds to the long list of events the boys have done to promote the album. They began this mini promotion tour performing a small show at the iHeartRadio Theater in NYC on Friday, February 15th. After that, the two flew across the country to play a show hosted by Spotify at the historic Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles on February 19th. They also appeared on Ellen last Thursday to sing “Talk You Out Of It” and were surprised that Ellen planned to help them find out the gender of the new Hubbard baby. That gender reveal can be seen below!
From the title track, all the way down the album to “Blessings”, it seems every song has the potential to become a big hit. “Colorado” was released along with “Simple” on June 1st, 2018. Hopefully, we will see it live on tour this summer!
Can’t Say I Ain’t Country has already sold over 300,000 copies. You can catch Florida Georgia Line at Jones Beach on July 20th with Dan + Shay, Morgan Wallen and HARDY. The presale for their tour is on sale now for FGL Lifers. Individual tickets for the general public go on sale this Friday, head to http://www.floridageorgialine.com/ for more information and ticket links.
