Chris Young, Dan + Shay, & Morgan Evans at Nash 94.7 Holiday Bash

Morgan Evans, Dan + Shay, Chris Young

Friday night (Dec. 7), Nash FM 94.7 took over Chris Young’s ‘Losing Sleep Tour’ with special guests Dan + Shay and Morgan Evans and transformed the talented lineup into the country radio station’s first ever Nash Holiday Bash. New York country music fans filled up the arena at Nassau Coliseum, anxiously awaiting the show to begin.

Nash FM 94.7 DJs Katie Neal and Jesse Addy took the stage to welcome the crowd and to introduce Evans’ opening set. The rising country star entered the stage with nothing but his acoustic guitar and loop pedal. This is not out of the ordinary for Evans, as this is the way he always performs live to truly showcase his undeniable musical talents. Opening his set with his latest single “Day Drunk,” the playful upbeat jam began to warm the crowd up. Evans continued to play “American” from his debut album, Things That We Drink To, then explained that he wrote hundreds of songs for his the album but only 11 could make the cut.  He told the crowd that he was so proud when another artist recorded one of his songs and he proceeded to play his own rendition of Dylan Scott’s current radio hit “Hooked.” With the crowd on their feet, Evans began to play his final song of his set which was his first ever number one single “Kiss Somebody.” Fans screamed the lyrics back to the singer-songwriter, until Evans took a moment before the last chorus to speak to the crowd, letting them know that every person who purchased a copy of Things That We Drink To at the merchandise tables, would be meeting him after the show so he could thank each and every one of them personally.

Morgan Evans, Dan + Shay, Chris Young

Neal and Addy returned to the stage a few moments after Evans exited, to introduce super-duo Dan + Shay. The arena erupted into cheers and screams as Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney began their set with their debut single “19 You + Me.” The duo continued performing their hit singles, “Nothin’ Like You,” “From The Ground Up” and “How Not To.” Along with a few songs from their newest self-titled album including “All To Myself,” “Alone Together,” “Make or Break” and their fastest growing single “Speechless.” Asking the crowd if there were any Rascal Flatts fans in the audience, the two sang “I Like The Sound Of That,” which Mooney co-wrote. Smyers took a moment to speak to the crowd, “Before we get out of here, we gotta play the song that has changed our lives this year. Just this morning, we woke up in the parking lot and found out the damn song was nominated for two Grammy awards, thank you for that. This is our first time performing the song being nominated for a Grammy in our entire career and it would mean the world to us if we make this the loudest sing-along we’ve ever heard.” Fans did exactly that. Every person inside of the arena screamed the lyrics right back to Mooney and Smyers. Click here to watch the moment from on our Instagram. The crowd and the duo continuously fed off of each other’s energy, making their set a sincere highlight of the entire night.

Morgan Evans, Dan + Shay, Chris Young

The Nash Holiday Bash wouldn’t be complete without a headliner, country superstar Chris Young took the stage to perform his biggest hits.  Young who has had success with 11 singles hitting the number one spot on the charts chose to highlight songs from his of his albums, kicking the night off with “Losing Sleep” then throwing it back to some of his first singles, “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song)” and “Voices”.

Being that this was a holiday celebration, Young took the time to explain that he had learned requests when he was playing a Mexican restaurant in Nashville before getting his record deal and he learned this next song. “This is sort of an unknown Christmas song but it’s definitely a country Christmas song on Alan Jackson’s record that I listened to as a kid and I asked him to be a part of my record and sing it with me, and he did.” He then played “New Kid In Town” which is on his holiday album, It Must Be Christmas.

Young recalled the last time he was in the venue, eight years ago,  he was opening for Luke Bryan who was opening for Rascal Flatts. “That shows you how long this has been, this has been my journey, and I was not kidding when I said I was going to say ‘Thank you’ a lot, I’ve got the microphone, you can’t stop me…” he laughed. “Thank you for an incredible year.” In between songs, the crowd gathered in a giant U.S.A chant, and overwhelmed with gratitude for our great country and his fans, the singer-songwriter stood at the microphone silent, allowing the chant to continue until it erupted into cheers. Closing out the night with an encore of “Man I Want to Be” and “I’m Comin’ Over” the audience sang along to every single word of Young’s entire set, making it one hell of a Friday night.

Morgan Evans Releases ‘Highway 1 Sessions: Young Again’

Morgan Evans Highway Sessions

Warner Music Nashville recording artist, Morgan Evans has been going full steam ahead, since the October release of his debut album, Things That We Drink To. While his song “Day Drunk” continues to climb the country charts, the singer-songwriter has created a new project entitled ‘Highway 1 Sessions.’

Yesterday, Evans dropped the first acoustic video in his new YouTube series for his song “Young Again.” The first installment features the singer, an acoustic guitar, at the retro-looking Majestic Ventura Theater in Ventura, California. Feeling inspired by his October trip along the Pacific Coast Highway, Evans recorded the video in just one-take, keeping the vibe cool, simple, and authentic to his Australian roots. The recording artist gives listeners a new way to experience the fun-loving track, keeping the lyrics the focus in his stripped-down performance. Check out the single-shot video below.

Evans shared a sentiment on his Instagram that truly embodies the passion project and what’s to come in the series. “We had a few days off between shows on the west coast in October, and I wanted to go on a bit of an adventure. It’s such a beautiful and inspiring part of the world. We met some incredible people, played some music, sat round camp fires, caught some waves & filmed a bunch stuff, while we were at it. I told some stories and shared the truth behind the songs on the album “Things That We Drink To.” We have called this series of videos and stories “The Highway 1 Sessions.” This is the first installment. It’s not overproduced, it’s not glossy or perfect, but it’s real and it’s me, and I hope you dig it.”

New Yorkers can catch Evans opening up for Chris Young on his ‘Losing Sleep World Tour’ with Dan + Shay, tomorrow night at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island. Click here for tickets. In the new year, the singer-songwriter will join Old Dominion on their ‘Make It Sweet Tour,’ beginning in Illinois on January 18th. For more information, head to morganevansmusic.com.

Morgan Evans Makes His Daytime Television Debut on TODAY

Morgan Evans TODAY

photo via Today.com

Just days after the release of his American debut album, Things That We Drink To, Aussie-born singer-songwriter, Morgan Evans, made his morning television debut on NBC’s Today Show. He took the stage during the 10 am hour with co-anchors, Kathie Lee and Hoda, performing his irresistible hit and first number one single, “Kiss Somebody.”

Before performing his romantic chart-topper, Kathie Lee and Hoda, came to the stage to introduce and talk to the singer-songwriter. When chatting about all the great things he has going on in his life, Hoda asked, “How does it feel to be in your shoes at this moment?” Evans replied, “It feels awesome you know, I feel like I’ve been doing this for so long that I’m in a great place to really appreciate all the cool things that are happening at the moment, I’ve been writing about it and singing them.”

After the brief interview, it was the moment viewers at home had been waiting for. Staying true to himself, Evans performed his first single in his signature style with only two guitars and a loop pedal, captivating his audience at home and of course Kathie Lee and Hoda. The co-anchors were seen swaying in place, enjoying every second of the private in-studio performance. At the end of the song, they came back on stage clapping and cheering his name, making it a moment to never forget.  Check out the full performance here.

New Yorkers, can catch Morgan Evans on the ‘Losing Sleep Tour’ with Chris Young and Dan + Shay December 7th at Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum.

NYCS First Impression: Morgan Evans ‘Things That We Drink To’

Morgan Evans

Since the 2017 release of his debut American single “Kiss Somebody,” Australia’s Morgan Evans has been lauded as one of country music’s next big things. Today, Evans released his debut album on Warner Music Nashville, Things That We Drink To. While much of the album reads as a love letter to Evans’ wife, Kelsea Ballerini, and believe me, it’s swoon-worthy, the overall body of work is a solid and diverse debut.

Evans, who NYCountry Swag named a 2018 Artist to Watch, co-wrote all eleven songs on the album with producer, Chris DeStefano and a handful of Nashville’s hottest hit-makers including Josh Osborne, Ashley Gorley, Josh Kear, Jaren Johnston, and Jon Nite. Additionally, Evans joined forces with DeStefano to play every instrument on the LP.

“My album is a collection of songs that I wrote over the last two years,” said Evans in a statement. “It’s my story. It’s leaving behind everything and everyone you know to chase down a country music dream on the other side of the world. It’s the excitement of the unknown, it’s the fun, it’s the loneliness and it’s the struggle. It’s losing someone and finding the strength to keep your head up and make them proud. It’s meeting a girl, falling hopelessly and marrying the love of your life. It’s the Things That We Drink To.”

The album opens with “American,” an anthemic up-tempo about an American girl who enchanted Evans from the get-go. It’s immediately evident that the track is about Ballerini, without ever veering into cheesy. He credits feeling at home whenever he’s with his American girl.  “She’s American, making my world better than it’s ever been,” He sings. “One part Norma Jean, and one part Marilyn. She’s making me fall in love with everything…American.”

The album continues up-tempo with the aforementioned “Kiss Somebody” and “I Do,” both which provided Evans’ with his initial introduction to the U.S. country scene. There’s “Day Drunk,” which like the former two tracks appeared on his EP, and is easily one of the ear-wormiest tracks on the album. The song celebrates living in the moment and getting day drunk, enjoying happy hour on the hour. It’s sure to be a staple of Evans’ live shows and merchandise for years to come, and we fully expect this to be the song that the crowd sings back at the top of their lungs, drinks buoyantly raised in the air.

While other songs simply allude to Evans’ relationship with Ballerini, the golden-voiced blonde lends her vocals to the album’s first ballad, “Dance with Me.” Written by Evans and DeStefano, the romantic track is easily a future first-dance classic. Using Ballerini on background vocals here makes it all the most personal, but also adds a haunting hint to an already sweet track.

Other highlights of the album include the title track, “Things That We Drink To,” a sparse piano ballad made uber-powerful by an anthem of voices in its chorus. “We Dream” creates another compelling moment, using a choir of children’s voices to emphasize the song’s wishful meaning. They remind us, “When we look at the world and don’t like what we see, we close our eyes and we dream.”

The album concludes with “Young Again,” which has been a favorite of ours since we first heard it. Channeling his inner Ed Sheeran, “Young Again” celebrates a perfect night out with friends that just can’t last long enough. “So what the clock says 3am?” Evans asks, “We will never be this young again.”

With Things That We Drink To, Morgan Evans has released a stellar debut album, cementing himself as Australia’s most exciting country music export since Keith Urban.

Old Dominion Releases New Single & Makes 2019 “Sweet” with Big Announcement

Following a successful year of live shows and number one singles, Old Dominion is ready to begin the next era of their career with a brand new single and headlining tour, both entitled “Make It Sweet.”  Co-written by all five members of the group (Brad Tursi, Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen, Geoff Sprung, Whit Sellers) and Shane McAnally, this upbeat and infectious single is the perfect blend of a love story and a take on the imperative phrase “life is short.”

The guys shared how unexpectedly and effortlessly it came to be in a note via the band’s Twitter account, check out the Tweet below.

Make It Sweet

Photo via @OldDominion Twitter

The band sings in the chorus, “’Cause I’m stuck on you, you’re stuck on me / I never gotta wonder where my honey be / I ain’t saving all my sugar for a Saturday night / Seven days a week I got an appetite / Sunsets like a tangerine, let’s find a road we’ve never seen / Don’t waste another mile or a minute not kissing me / Life is short, make it sweet”

The tune precedes more music to come from the Academy of Country Music award-winning group.  Along with the song’s release is a brand new music video to go along with it, displaying young couples reveling in each other’s company upon some majestic scenery which concludes in a mountainside house party with the band.  Tursi, Ramsey, Rosen, Sprung, and Sellers had one more surprise in store for fans this week: a winter headlining arena tour. Kicking off on January 18, 2019, in Chicago, IL, the twenty-four date tour will run through April 27, 2019, ending in San Jose, CA. The band will be joined by special guests Jordan Davis, Mitchell Tenpenny and Morgan Evans, each at select dates. Brett Eldredge and Morgan Evans Entertain Long Island

New Yorkers were once again lucky enough to have Brett Eldredge close out the summer in Long Island. Last year, only a few days apart, Eldredge opened up for Luke Bryan at Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater but this time he was the headliner of the night at the BMHMC Amphitheater at Bald Hill. Opening the show was Morgan Evans, playing the venue for the first time.

Brett Eldredge Long Island

Evans began his set talking to the crowd right off the bat before going into his first song of the night “Day Drunk”. While in the middle of the song he stopped to say, “So I’m here basically to warm you guys for Brett Eldredge tonight, so come on! And I enjoy getting to do that so I want to make sure I do a real good job, are you feeling warm yet Long Island?” Evans continued with the crowd singing along, doing just what he was set out to do. The country newcomer didn’t stop there, he sang his songs “American” and “I Do” along with incorporating covers “Free Fallin’” by John Mayer, “Hey Jude” by The Beatles, “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk The Moon, “Honey, I’m Good” by Andy Grammer, and “Somebody Like You” by Keith Urban to his set.

One of the highlights of the night was when he sang his number one hit song “Kiss Somebody”. Before performing the song he said, “Thanks to MyCountry 96.1 and every other radio station in America and this is the first time I get to say this on stage but this is now the number one song on country music, this is my first single!” The crowd erupted in cheers and of course, sang along to every word. Before the song was over he explained, “This week has pretty much been one of the best weeks of my entire life, thanks to you guys for loving this song, playing this song, turning it up loud when it comes on the radio, so just for this last chorus now if you know the words for this song I don’t want you to sing them I want you to scream them at the top of your lungs, can you do that for me Long Island!?” That’s exactly what the crowd did, screaming the lyrics right back to him on stage, making the first time he performed “Kiss Somebody” after hitting number one extremely memorable to the singer.

Evans accomplished his job for the night, warming up the crowd for Brett Eldredge. He closed out his set with his new song “Young Again”. Before leaving the stage the singer mentioned that his EP came out two weeks ago and his first album will be released this fall. He thanked the crowd once again and said, “I so appreciate the support up here and feeling the love I can’t wait to come back to Long Island to play for you guys again!”

Brett Eldredge Long Island

Next up was the headliner himself, Brett Eldredge. As the band took their places, Eldredge ran out on stage, drink in hand, screaming, “LONG ISLAND! Y’all ready to get down on Thursday night or what?” He started off the night with “Something I’m Good At”, the perfect song to get the crowd fired up. As the song ended he said, “Well my name is Brett Eldredge and we’ve been looking forward to this show, this is the most beautiful night we played all summer long so we gonna break it down, you ready? Let’s Go!”.  The singer was constantly smiling and moving around, never in the same spot for too long and always trying to interact with the crowd. His set list was mixed with songs from every album giving the crowd all his hit songs along with fan favorites. Some of the songs performed were “Love Someone”, “The Reason”, “Cycles”, “Time Well Spent”, “Beat of The Music”, “Lose My Mind”, “Don’t Ya”, “Superhero”, and “Wanna Be That Song”.

Brett Eldredge Long Island

Throughout the night Eldredge talked with the crowd and even brought out a very beloved guest, his dog Edgar Boogie. Edgar took the stage to perform a trick right before his owner began the Bedhead Jams portion of the show. During his Bedhead Jams, he sang songs, “Mean To Me” and “Raymond,” his first single expressing his grandmother’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Another portion of the show saw some very lucky fans join the singer on stage. He sang his hit “Haven’t Met You Yet” to a little girl who had a sign pointing to her saying, “Brett’s Girl”. This wasn’t all for the night, Eldredge always brings fans up to the stage for a drink and this night was no exception. He brought up 3 fans, who were a part of Edgar Boogies fan club holding up giant pictures of him.

As the show was coming to an end the country superstar said, “So we’ve been traveling all over and this is our last weekend of the summer touring so I hate to see summer go, I hate to see it go but this is a hell of a place to watch it go right here, I wanna thank all of y’all for showing up the way you have!” This night was bittersweet for him, making the show one of the best he’s ever done. He continued his set in high energy with a cover everyone knows, “Gold Digger” by Kanye West and closed out his set with his hit song “Drunk on Your Love”. As the song came to an end he said, “Thank y’all so much, y’all better come back and see us some time! I wanna thank all of y’all for being so good to me!”

New Yorkers, can catch Morgan Evans on the Losing Sleep tour with Chris Young and Dan + Shay on December 7th at Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum. For those willing to travel you can catch Brett Eldredge on The Long Way tour with Devin Dawson at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City on October 12th.

Morgan Evans Releases “Young Again” & Debut EP

Morgan Evans

The fact is “We will never be this young again”, sang Morgan Evans in his new song “Young Again”. The Aussie-born singer hit the nail on the head with this song. The track is all about celebrating life and living in the moment, making “Young Again” the new anthem for being young, wild and free. Even though Evans has been playing this song at various shows it is the official release of this upbeat and incredibly fun song. “Young Again” is one of five songs that came off his self-titled EP that is available today.

In honor of the release of “Young Again” and his new EP, Evans made a surprise visit to where it all started 10 years ago, Tootsies Orchid Lounge on Broadway in downtown Nashville. He posted on Instagram about going back to this beloved place saying, “More and more when I experience big life and career moments, they remind me of all the little ones that happened before and made them possible.”

Evans then went on to explain that the day he flew into Nashville the first stop was Tootsies saying, “I remember that moment as one of the defining ones, thinking, ‘This is the greatest city on earth.’” He thought it would be fitting to go back to the Nashville bar where his journey began. In the spirit of the song and EP, Evans bought the patrons in the bar a round of shots to toast the release. Here’s to never being this young again!

Evans kicked off the summer with his headline 10 in 10 Tour, which sold out New York City’s Mercury Lounge back in June.  New Yorkers, can catch him live on August 23rd at BMHMC Amphitheater at Bald Hill in Long Island with Brett Eldredge and Stephanie Quayle.  This Fall, Evans will join Chris Young as a special guest on his Losing Sleep 2018 World Tour which stops in New York on December 7th at Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum.

Morgan Evans 10 in 10 New York City Tour Stop

Morgan Evans

Ten nights, ten cities, one incredible artist.  Australian native, Morgan Evans has spent the past week touring the country, playing ten shows in ten nights and night number eight just happened to be New York City. Having played shows so far in California, Colorado, Kansas, Illinois, Texas, and Georgia, Evans teamed up with Southwest Airlines to jet set to each location to promote his current single “Kiss Somebody”.

New York Country Swag has been following Evans since last year when he first played Opry Circle in the City, his infectious charisma hasn’t changed one bit as his American following has grown immensely over the past year. Signed to a record deal with Warner Music Nashville and gearing up to release his debut EP later this fall, Evans is primed and ready to bring the success he found in Austraila over to the states.

He opened his set with a single that was only released two weeks ago to digital outlets, however, the sold-out New York City crowd knew every single word to “Day Drunk”. “You guys are officially singing this song the loudest I’ve heard yet,” he stopped to tell the audience. Having moved to the United States just a few short years ago after traveling back and forth, Evans has since then met the love of his life, Kelsea Ballerini, got married and signed a record deal with a major Nashville record label.  His life has changed drastically and he wrote a love song to not only his wife Kelsea but also to America called “American” as well as “Life Changes” which he then mashed with Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin'” and The Beatles huge hit “Hey Jude”.

One of the most unique and interesting parts of Evans’ show is the fact that he has the ability to play all of the instruments needed for each of his songs.  With the help of a pedal loop which allows him to record each individual part of the song he then plays them all together while he sings.  It is fascinating to watch and to start each song the crowd was attentive watching his talent shine through.  He sang “I Do” which was released just days after his wedding, pointing out that in the audience right up front was a couple who got engaged before he sang that song in Nashville a few months back.

His set wouldn’t be complete without “Kiss Somebody” which Evans’ explained, “As of last week, officially, crazily, became a top 1o single” thanking John Foxx and his team at Nash FM 94.7 for playing the tune. The smile on his face watching the sold-out crowd sing every word back to him was priceless and the perfect way to end a great night of amazing music from the newcomer.
