Maddie & Tae Return with Sassy New Single “Woman You Got”

Maddie & Tae’s new song, “Woman You Got” is available now, March 26th, on all streaming platforms. Written by the duo along with Laura Veltz, Mark Holman, take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

Just about a year ago, Maddie & Tae released their long-awaited sophomore record The Way It Feels. The record showcased the duo in the best light, proving that they are truly ready for greatness. Now, months later the singer-songwriters return with their first release of 2021, a brand new single titled “Woman You Got.”

Teasing the song on social media, the ladies dedicated “Woman You Got” to “all [the] self-aware queens out there.” Just that mere sentiment alone was enough to get us excited for its release. The new song is a sassy, mid-tempo jam all about owning who you are. Maddie and Tae share their flaws in such a way that feels both confident and self-assured. The song is an inspiring love song that feels deliciously Maddie & Tae.

“I talk smack // I make messes // I win bread // I’m kinda selfish // Don’t trust // Me in the kitchen // Don’t dare me // I ain’t chicken // You say you love me I know you love me // love that you love me baby // I know you know me but if I know me // I’m gonna drive you crazy”

Although the past year was not what the duo hoped it would be in regards to touring and celebrating new music, 2021 is looking promising for the singers. With a dedicated fanbase behind them, a firm foundation holding them up, and incredible talent, this is only just the (new) beginning for Maddie & Tae!

NYCS First Impression: Maddie & Tae ‘One Heart To Another’

Maddie & Tae

After some hardships, including switching labels, platinum-selling vocal duo Maddie & Tae (Maddie Marlow and Taylor Dye) are back on the country music scene armed with passion and perseverance. The singer-songwriters channel their experiences with heartbreak, loss, love, and redemption into a major comeback with the release of their new EP, One Heart to Another, the prelude to their upcoming sophomore album.

Both women have been vocal about the work they’ve put into this new record. In a recent press release, Marlow shared “This is much more than just a new project for us. It has been our light at the end of the tunnel for the past two years. It is about two best friends experiencing the highest of highs, the lowest of lows, and everything in between. We hope our fans hear the vulnerability, heartbreak, strength, truth, and passion we’ve poured into this. This is only the beginning.”

“We put our heads down and tried to be the best artists we could be. And to us that looked like writing lyrics from a very honest place and sharing them with the hopes that someone out in the world feels less alone. So here is One Heart to Another. From our hearts to yours,” added Dye.

From the moment the EP begins, the listener feels transported into the world of Maddie & Tae. Deeply personal, relatable, and special, each of the five tracks share a different side of the duo’s talents, as both singers and songwriters.

The record opens up with the flirty song, “Friends Don’t,” which the songstresses released last summer. The track, written by the women with Jon Nite and Justin Ebach, tells the story of a clever back and forth between a boy and a girl, who are ‘just friends,’ but clearly, there’s something more there. The women give words to the experience of managing mixed signals and emotions that are so prevalent in the beginning stages of a potential love interest.

Next, the EP transitions to track two, “Die From A Broken Heart,” a painfully beautiful and vulnerable ballad about heartbreak. In the song, the duo sings, “How does he sleep at night / Momma, the nerve of this guy / To leave me so easy / Am I gonna be alright / I wanna kick myself for falling so hard / Momma, can you die from a broken heart?” The women passionately emote their raw feelings, as they ask their mothers and fathers for advice following a difficult break-up.

Continuing to showcase different sides of their talents, Maddie & Tae sing about heartbreak and picking up the pieces in a new and fresh way on the next track entitled, “Tourist In This Town.” Written by the women with Barry Dean and Jimmy Robbins, the lyrics are about re-acquainting yourself with where you live after a break-up and having to navigate the emotions of feeling lost and like a stranger in your own town.

Maddie & Tae continue to pour their hearts out in the title track. The delightfully country ballad may be the most poignant of the five tracks. Beginning with a simple, but impactful instrumental, the women attempt to warn other women about a man, who constantly goes from girl to girl, explaining that “he goes from one heart to another,” and more importantly that his actions are not their fault. “But I’m going to tell you what the last one told me / From one heart to another / From one ex to the next lover / I’ve felt that spell your under / That kiss underneath those covers / When it’s good it don’t get better / He’ll make you feel like it’s forever / but from one ex to the next lover / He goes from one hear to another.”

Rounding out the impressive EP, Maddie & Tae include a sassy, upbeat song, “New Dog Old Tricks.” Giving off Miranda Lambert vibes, the singer-songwriters confidently play the field, poking fun at men at bars that think they’ve got game with women. It’s an empowering cut that fans are sure to jam out to when they need a pick me up. “Hey, baby, let me guess / You’ve never felt this before / My beauty takes your breath/ Boy get that jaw off the floor / Not my first rodeo / I know the way this goes / Now what baby, got a bone to pick / New dogs, old tricks.”

In just a few days, Maddie & Tae will kick off their opening gig on Carrie Underwood’s all-female headlining ‘2019 Cry Pretty Tour 360,’ alongside Runaway June. The tour stops at New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden on October 2nd. For tickets and more tour information head to maddieandtae.com.

Lee Brice Hosts Charity Songwriter Round in Nashville

Lee Brice Charity

Last night in Nashville, Lee Brice held a fundraiser for Women of Country at the Analog at Hutton Hotel. It was a “Lee and the Ladies” kind of night. Brice is hosting a series of three special shows supporting charities that are important to him in partnership with SESAC. The first of the series was a benefit for the military and first responders and last night NYCountry Swag was lucky enough to attend the second event supporting Women of Country.

The country superstar had by his side Maddie & Tae, and songwriters, Liz Rose, and Victoria Shaw. Maddie & Tae played their new single “Friends Don’t”  and their hit “Girl In a Country Song” while Rose had the entire crowd jamming out to her Taylor Swift cuts “Tim McGraw” and “You Belong With Me.”  Shaw, who we saw earlier this year in NYC at Birdland played the smash hit song she wrote for Garth Brooks “The River”.

We can’t forget about Brice in the mix of the outstanding women on stage last night. He sang his beautiful ballad “Boy” and also his upcoming single, “Rumor.” A special guest he brought out was the one and only Neal McCoy. The two started jamming out together to McCoy’s track “They’re Playing Our Song.”

All of the proceeds from the tickets went to the nonprofit organization Thistle Farms. Amy Paige, DJ from the BIG 98 explained their mission is to “heal, empower, and employ so many women survivors of trafficking, prostitution, and addiction, it has changed their lives so profoundly.”  Thistle Farms has a store located in Nashville, Tennessee selling handmade natural body & home products. If you’re interested in reading more about Thistle Farms and their mission, you can click here.

Brice’s last event is set for Oct 1, 2018, remembering Route 91 on the one year anniversary of this tragedy.

[Watch] Maddie and Tae’s Captivating Video for “Friends Don’t”

Platinum-selling duo Maddie & Tae have released the official music video for their latest single off of their upcoming full-length sophomore album,  “Friends Don’t.” The upbeat single was written by Madison Marlow (Maddie), Taylor Dye (Tae), Justin Ebach and Jon Nite. This is the pair’s first new single released under their new record label,  Mercury Records, an imprint of Universal Music Group.

In a recent press release, Dye shared “To us ‘Friends Don’t’ feels sexy and confident, but with a dash of that uncertainty, you have at the start of a relationship, because you don’t know if the other person feels the same way you do. We wanted to play off that push and pull we’ve all felt before.”

In the video, you see exactly that. It starts off with the Texas and Oklahoma duo at a late night house party and each seem to have a flirtatious relationship with separate love interests. There are text messages exchanged as well as mixed emotional signals and one big grand gesture.”We both got to do a little acting and play out separate storylines with a love interest,” revealed Marlow. “It was pretty outside of the box for us to act, so we just tried to have fun with it.” You’ll have to watch to see what happens in the end.

Maddie & Tae will hit the road with Carrie Underwood on her Cry Pretty Tour 360 next Spring along with supporting act Runaway June. The tour stops in New York City on October 2nd, 2019 at the legendary Madison Square Garden and tickets are available everywhere today.
