Laine Hardy: ‘Here’s To Anyone’ – Album Review

Laine Hardy’s new album, Here’s to Anyone, featuring “Memorize You” and “Authentic,” is out today, September 17th. Check out our full review and listen to the brand new music below.

On his debut album, Here’s to Anyone, Laine Hardy enlisted some of Nashville’s biggest names. Produced by Michael Knox, the album features songs written by Jessi Alexander, John King, Josh Thompson, Steve Moakler, Erik Dylan, Busbee, and a ton of Music City’s best songwriters. While the liner notes may read like a ‘who’s who’ of Nashville, it’s Hardy’s authentic and impassioned delivery that makes Here’s to Anyone an impressive debut.

In 2019, Hardy endeared himself to TV viewers, claiming the title of American Idol and signing to Buena Vista Records / Industrial Media’s 19 Recordings. Television continued to play a role in his career after an appearance on The Bachelorette included a performance of “Memorize You.” The romantic track immediately became a fan-favorite, garnering over 8.6 million streams since his appearance.

Inspirations for the Livingston, Louisiana native include Luke Combs, Elvis Presley, and Marc Broussard, hints of each are evident on this album. “I’m a down-home guy, from Southeast Louisiana,” he says. “I just want to show all my fans that I’m not going to stray away from who I am, and where I come from. I feel like we really did that with the album and I’m very proud of it.”

Opening with the twangy, blues-tinted “Authentic,” the Louisiana-Broussard-inspiration is apparent on the driving ode to Southern living, which features a bluesy guitar solo. “Well, it’s who we are // It’s what we do // The way the good Lord meant it // It’s in the blood, tires in the mud // It’s just the life that we’re livin’ // It’s tried and true, can’t buy it new // If you think you can, can’t you don’t get it // If it burns your lips when you take a sip // You gonna know that it’s authentic”

The album’s snappy title track continues that vibe, as Hardy celebrates the way he was raised. On the punchy, up-tempo tune, he invites listeners to “Go on raise em’ up // If you were raised up right.” Like “Authentic,” Hardy is staying true to his Southern roots, singing of the things he knows all too well. “Watermelon crawl, small town Saturday night,” he sings, before raising a toast.“Here’s to anyone who knows anything about that.”

There’s a hint of homesickness on Here’s to Anyone, a theme that works its way through songs like “Tiny Town,” “Ground I Grew Up On,” “California Won’t” and “The Other LA.” On the sparse “Tiny Town,” Hardy’s voice is the star, as he sings longingly of the tiny town he loves so much. “What I wouldn’t give right about now,” he croons, To be back in my tiny town.”

Likewise, “Ground I Grew Up On” continues that theme of missing his small town as Hardy takes a girl on a tour of his home. “Don’t blink, you might miss it all,” he warns his passenger. Might look like nothin’ but gravel roads // And tractors rollin’ over them fields // And prayin’ that we get a little rain soon // And cuttin’ loose in hand me down wheels // And knockin’ them Friday night beers back // By the train tracks and thinkin’ that // I’d never miss this place when I got gone //But that’s ground I grew up on.”

While much of Here’s to Anyone is a love letter to Hardy’s Louisiana upbringing, there are also songs celebrating the love of someone special, including the aforementioned “Memorize You,” “One of Those,” and “For a Girl.” On the tongue-in-cheek “For a Girl,” Hardy sings of all the things a man does for love, including missing opening day, letting a buck get away, and buying a pawn shop guitar.

Finally, on the album’s closing track “Let There Be Country,” Hardy goes out on a high note. He’s a country boy through and through and he can’t imagine life without all of the things that make him who he is. “Let there be country // Boots kicking up dust // Let there be neon light and a sky full of stars above // Let there be mud tires, bonfires // And hometown girls in shotgun seats // Let there be country // For country boys like me.”

While Here’s to Anyone is the ultimate declaration of love to Hardy’s upbringing, it’s also an uplifting celebration of small towns, Saturday nights, and special someones that anyone can relate to.

Laine Hardy Performs “Memorize You” on “The Bachelorette”

Laine Hardy performs his romantic song “Memorize You” on ABC’s “The Bachelorette” on Monday night, during one of the special date nights.

Back in May, American Idol star, Laine Hardy released his new song “Memorize You.” Fans instantly fell in love with the romantic tune. Fittingly, on Monday night, (7/5) the singer performed the heartfelt single on ABC’s “The Bachelorette” during one of the dates.

This season’s bachelorette, Katie Thurston took one of the contestants, Blake on a romantic one-on-one date. The two were serenaded by the artist, as they listened and danced along to the stellar performance. It was clear that the two lovebirds were feeling the chemistry. “Memorize You” was the perfect backdrop to their budding romance.

“Is everything I don’t know // And everything I want to // Just give me some time with your smile // Baby, I wanna memorize you // I wanna know your heart by heart and your kiss by kiss // Wanna know what it was like // Every day before me, what’s your story? // Baby, every single line // What makes you laugh, makes you dance, makes you fall // Like only love can do”

Laine Hardy is the most recent country artist to sing on the hit show, but many have come before him. Check out some of the other incredible country acts, who have performed on the show over its many seasons here.

Laine Hardy Releases Feel-good Love Song, “Memorize You”

Laine Hardy’s new song “Memorize You” is available now, May 14th, on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new song.

Country newcomer and American Idol season 17 winner, Laine Hardy released a new song today, May 14th, called “Memorize You.” This follows the singer’s other recent notable singles including “Tiny Town” and “Other LA.”

“Memorize You” is a feel-good, summertime groove written by Michael Tyler, Eric Arjes, and Steven Dale Jones, and produced by Michael Knox, who works with other Nashville stars such as Jason Aldean and Thomas Rhett. The singer in the track meets a girl at the bar who then gets stuck in his head. However, you can only get to know so much about a person in one night, so he makes it his mission to learn more about her — everything from her favorite drink to her childhood stories. His assertiveness in getting to know this girl is comparable to Chris Lane in his song “I Don’t Know About You” but Hardy expresses it with a little more confidence over a more upbeat tempo.

“Every day before me, what’s your story // Baby, every single line // What makes you laugh, makes you dance, makes you fall like only love can do? // Give me some time with your smile // Baby, I wanna memorize you”

The Louisiana-native plans on having new music out this fall. He also has a dedicated and growing fan base, who he plans on seeing on the road again this summer. For tour dates, visit his website and be sure to tune in to American Idol this summer where the former winner will return for a special appearance.

Laine Hardy has created a fanbase that goes wild every time he releases a brand new song. The American Idol star and Louisiana native knows how to deliver music that resonates with his fans. His new song “Other LA” is just another example of his pure and innovative creativity. The song may sound familiar to some fans, who have seen the singer perform the song live or via social media. Hardy also performed the jam during one of our virtual country brunches earlier this month.

“To my home sweet other LA / Everybody brags about the beach / No one seen it in weeks / Nothing but taillight traffic / If you love it that much you can have it / If it was up to these old boots, I’d be back down in Baton Rouge / I know a country boy can survive / But it’s tough for a rodeo guy”

Laine Hardy Devotes New Single “Tiny Town” to His Roots in Louisiana

Laine Hardy, Tiny Town

One may never know from the compelling and professional manner that Laine Hardy exhibited when he won American Idol in 2019, making him the Season 2 winner of the newly-renovated, famous singing competition. He has certainly kept busy with music since his victory just 14 months ago. Since then, he has released three singles, and two of those singles have acoustic versions. “Ground I Grew Up On” and “Let There Be Country” were released just three months ago, and set the record straight on what his home in Livingston, Louisiana means to him.

Now, Hardy continues to shine a light on his roots with a brand new single “Tiny Town”, written by Michael Tyler Spragg and produced by Michael Knox. This song embodies a small, country town where people love their neighbors and home-cooked meals are still in surplus. Down to the last strum of the guitar, “Tiny Town” paints a picture of living with the necessities and appreciating the little things like fishing and crowded chapels.

“Yeah that’s living, living in a tiny town / 9 to 5, on Friday nights wearing Main Street down / Yeah, just living, living in a tiny town / Hardwood floors and liquor stores, letters burning out / What I wouldn’t give right about now / To be back in my tiny town”

The simply beautiful instrumental is stripped down even more so in the acoustic version of “Tiny Town”, which is also available now. A music video for the song is forthcoming which, if it follows in Hardy’s previous approaches, may show off some more of his hometown and Louisiana-style activities.

NYCS First Impression Laine Hardy Debut EP

Laine Hardy

Reigning 2019 American Idol winner and country singer, Laine Hardy has kept fans waiting eagerly for brand new music. But today, the wait is over. The Hollywood Records/19 Recordings artist released two brand-new songs, “Ground I Grew Up On” and “Let There Be Country,” both paying ode to his Louisiana, down-home country roots.

“Ground I Grew Up On” (Josh Thompson, Brett Beavers, Brandon Kinney) is a heartfelt tribute to Hardy’s hometown and the very place that he grew up in. Although it “might look like nothing but gravel roads and tractors rolling over ’em fields,” the Baton Rouge native assures listeners that the “ground [he] grew up on” will always hold a special place in his heart. After all, it made him the person he is today.

The second track “Let There Be Country” (Steve Moakler, Tim Nichols, Jason Afable), on the other hand, ramps up the tempo and shows the rockier, fun, typical country boy side of the 19-year-old. The feel-good anthem follows a check-list approach in defining what being in the country feels like.

In a press statement, Hardy shared, “I am so excited to finally be able to release this new music! I hope these songs give you an idea of where I grew up on the Bayou, running through the fields with my cousins and fishing on Lake Maurepas. Louisiana is always going to be in my heart, and I want to just keep making Louisianans proud.”

As announced by The Tennessean earlier this week, fans can catch Laine performing live online on his “Ground I Grew Up On Virtual Tour,” with more than 15 online stops through the end of May. Laine is set to perform new music and chat with fans virtually during each of the tour stops. A complete listing of Laine Hardy concert dates, including virtual tour stop details, can be found at LaineHardyMusic.com.
