Lady A’s new song, “Like A Lady” is available now, March 12th on all streaming platforms. Written by the group’s Hillary Scott with Dave Barnes, Michelle Buzz, Martin Johnson, and Brandon Paddock, and produced by acclaimed producer Dan Huff, take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.
Country music’s newest female empowerment anthem is here. ‘Like a Lady’ is an upbeat, funky song that’s sure to be the soundtrack to your next road trip with your best girls. The retro feel and empowering lyrics follow the trio’s hit “Champagne Night”, which premiered last year on NBC’s Songland and recently hit number one back in January.
“I feel my most confident when I’m not trying too hard,” leading lady Hillary Scott explains in a press release. “I love getting glammed up and all the fancy clothes, but when I feel the most ‘me,’ it’s a lot more laid back – and I think that’s a lot of us. You are your most authentic self in blue jeans with a tequila drink, ya know? As we were writing it, I was like ‘It’s always been my dream to do a song that combines the things I love about Dolly Parton’s ‘9 to 5’ and Shania Twain’s ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman!’ – two of the most strong, powerful female songs ever,” Scott continued. “So it was like ‘How can we do our version of that?’”
‘Like a Lady’ may speak to the independence of being a woman, but the two male members of the band, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, were happy to jump in as allies. “We were some of the biggest champions for ‘Like A Lady’ and we’re honored to stand alongside Hillary,” says Haywood. “We’ve had a front-row seat to her strength over the years and we love linking arms with her on this song.” Scott adds, “It’s incredible that Charles and Dave, in all their masculinity, are willing to sing right alongside me on this song. I think that is another powerful statement. It’s super important for strong, great men to stand beside women and propel them forward.”
“I feel like a lady / sippin’ on tequila with my Levis on / a lady / singing to the music playing all night long / yeah I’m feeling right / I’m living my life / I do what I like / ‘cause I feel like a lady”
Lady A’s new song “Like A Lady” is available everywhere now, March 12th
A new song isn’t the only thing Hillary Scott has to celebrate. This month, she is one of 31 female leaders from diverse industries featured in the Dress For Success backed “Your Hour, Her Power” campaign in honor of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day.
The track will likely be a fan favorite when the band can eventually get back on the road, but for now as the weather gets nicer this is the song to roll down the windows and jam out to.

Lady A’s “Champagne Night” earns them their 11th career and multi-week #1 hit song as the track sits at the top spot on the country charts this week.
Since their inception, the famed country music trio, Lady A have had their fair share of highs and lows as they navigate the country music world. With that being said, the talented singer-songwriters can officially say that they have eleven number one songs to their name. Most recently, their single “Champagne Night”, first introduced to the world by NBC’s hit show Songland, has reached and maintained the number one spot on country charts for not one, but two consecutive weeks.
Songland has won the hearts of music lovers everywhere. The show features aspiring songwriters pitching songs to industry professionals, Shane McAnally, Ryan Tedder, and Ester Dean in the hopes of a famous act choosing to record their song. On Lady A’s episode of the show, the group chose to record a reworked version of Madeline Merlo’s song “Champagne Night.” Official songwriter credits have been given to Ester Dean, Shane McAnally, Andrew DeRoberts, Charles Kelley, Dave Haywood, Dave Thomson, Hillary Scott, Madeline Merlo, Patricia Conroy, Ryan Tedder, and Tina Gemza. This marks the first song from the show to be promoted as an official radio single, and now a number one hit.
Lady A Earn 11th Career and Multi-Week # 1 with “Champagne Night”
“Raisin’ plastic cups to a life of luxury / C’est la vie on a Friday / We get dressed up in a blue jean tux / And we go where we don’t hear the highway / Don’t need doubles and bubbles / To get in all kinds of trouble / Out in country / Don’t need a crystal chandelier / To have a real good time / We’re drinkin’ beer on a champagne night / A champagne night”
The fast tempo and feel-good nature of “Champagne Night” is just one of the many reasons that the song was such a hit with fans. We’re sure when live shows resume that this will be one of the biggest songs on their setlist.

Lady A’s Ocean Deluxe Edition is available now, November 20th, everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the release, which includes six brand new tracks.
Lady A’s Ocean Deluxe Album is available now, November 20th.
Lady A captivated fans with the release of their eighth studio album ‘Ocean’ last fall, and now the deluxe album is here! Featuring three new songs plus three reimagined tracks from the original record, the multi-platinum trio is excited to offer a new way for listeners to experience the project.
“It’s crazy to think this album is only turning a year old because it has already been part of so many moments for us as a band,” Hillary Scott said in a press release earlier this month. “We wanted to share a couple of never-released tracks and put a spin on some others that have been fun to play around with during quarantine.”
The album’s lead single in 2019, “What If I Never Get Over You” skyrocketed to the top of the country airplay charts, becoming the band’s first number-one song since 2014. The deluxe version was recorded live from Nashville music venue, 3rd and Lindsley. The at-home version of ‘Let It Be Love’ is beautifully simple with only piano accompaniment.
‘Champagne Night’, the single that came from NBC’s Songland, is new to the project but not to listeners. The deluxe album features both the original song and a tiki bar version that will seemingly transport you from your house straight to an imaginary beach.
The two brand new tracks, ‘Heroes’ and ‘Underwater’ match the pure harmonies and deep lyrics that made Ocean such a departure from the trio’s more recent sound. ‘Heroes’ featuring fellow BMLG recording artist, Thomas Rhett is a homage to the country legends we have lost.
“All of my heroes have died / but lord may they rest in peace / oh so here’s to the songs that will always live on / from now until eternity”
Band member Charles Kelley sings the melody line in ‘Underwater’, a haunting ballad about relying on those we love to pull us through.
“Hear the silence / hear them screaming / you’re the only one who can hear it / I’m a whisper / I’m a secret / and you’re the only one who can keep it / you just know me like you know nobody else can / you just understand me underwater”
One thing that country music fans can rely on during these trying times is that their favorite artists continue to write, record, and release some incredible music that we can all lean on.

At a time when most TV shows are on hiatus, the return on NBC’s hit show, Songland was a welcome change, especially for music lovers. The reality series, which had a successful season one last year, gives songwriters the chance to pitch songs directly to a guest artist. After a workshop period in which each songwriter teams up with one of the show’s three legendary producers, Ryan Tedder, Shane McAnally, and Ester Dean, the guest artist chooses which song they want to record and release.
Songland, which features artists from all genres, kicked off season two with country trio Lady Antebellum. The Grammy-winning group was presented with four songs and in the end, chose an upbeat track called, “Champagne Night”. The song was written by Madeline Merlo with the help of mentor and producer McAnally and Lady A group members, Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood.

Lady Antebellum released the song and accompanying music video after the show’s broadcast. Given the fast tempo, summer feel and funky vibes, “Champagne Night” is sure to be a crowd favorite next time the trio hits the road.
“Raise them plastic cups to a life of luxury c’est la vie on a Friday / We get dressed up in a blue jean tux and we go where we don’t hear the highway / Don’t need doubles and bubbles to get in all kinds of trouble out in the country / Don’t need a crystal chandelier to have a real good time / We’re drinking beer on a champagne night”
Previous country stars featured on Songland include Kelsea Ballerini and Old Dominion. Florida Georgia Line and Martina McBride are set to appear later in season two.

When Lady Antebellum released “What If I Never Get Over You” as the first single off their then-untitled new album, it was clear that something had shifted within the group’s sound and dynamic. Gone were the horns and funky beats of recent releases. In the place of gimmicks and trend-chasing were the pure harmonies and deep lyrics that the group had initially become known for. While the trio may have lost their way a bit over the years, Ocean (released today, November 15), shows them righting their course.
Ocean marks the trio’s first release on Big Machine Label Group and represents a seismic sonic shift to the sound that made Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott, and Dave Haywood one of Nashville’s hottest acts. “There’s this theme of returning to the core of who we are — as writers, vocalists, and people — that came out in each of these songs,” Haywood said in a statement. “Our time in the studio with Dann (Huff) had an excitement that felt like we were making our first album all over again.”
While the overall sound of Ocean hearkens back to the heyday of Lady A., there’s also growth and maturity to the lyrics here. No longer are they three single kids, trying to make a name in Nashville. Today, they’re each married with kids of their own. They’ve struggled with real life issues, released solo projects, and have grown as people, all of which is evidenced on this album. Notably, “Crazy Love” tells the tale of a relationship that shouldn’t have survived, but has, thanks to crazy love. “You were reckless on that day you took my hand/ But you, you could see right through the boy and see a man/ And here I stand/ Thank God for you/ Thank God for us/ Thank God for crazy love.”
Likewise, “What I’m Leaving For” tells the tale of parents struggling with the travel required of their jobs. “Got my bags packed/ Got my ticket/ Got a heartache to go with it,” Scott sings here, while they hope their children understand the reasons why they’re always leaving. Lady A promises big things for their children on this bittersweet track, as they embrace their duality as performers and parents. “I wore out the demo for this song,” recalled Haywood in a recent press release. “I immediately related to it. It’s so hard stepping away from your family the way we do, and that song is such a great, beautiful way of articulating what we’re out here doing this for – our families, and those that we love us, too. This song is a beautiful picture of that push and pull of our journey.”
Lady A picks things up on the previously-released “Boots” and “You Can Do You,” the latter of which celebrates the ways people blow off steam in Nashville. On the stomping up-tempo, Kelley takes lead, proclaiming “It don’t matter where you come from/ Which side of the county line/ We’re all here/ Searching for a good time.”
Love and relationships are still a prominent theme on the album, taking different forms on the bittersweet “Pictures,” the inspiring “Let It Be Love,” and the lush “Be Patient with My Love.” There’s also a new take on “On A Night Like This,” originally recorded by singer-songwriter, Dave Barnes. Here, Lady Antebellum’s harmonies and plush arrangement wrap around you like a warm blanket, convincing you that on a night like this, you could most certainly fall in love.
One of the album’s most arresting tracks is “The Thing That Wrecks You,” featuring Little Big Town, and written by Daniel Tashian, Tenille Townes, and Kate York. If you want harmonies, they’re in abundance here, as LBT and Lady A create something ethereal and magical. If you’re wondering what heaven might sound like, we expect that it’s something like the chorus of “The Thing That Wrecks You,” as the new power group join vocal forces. This is basically the musical equivalent of the Avengers, and we’re here for as many sequels as they’d like to make.
The album concludes with its title track, “Ocean,” a lush and theatrical ballad that shows the group at its finest. Scott takes lead, Haywood plays piano and Kelley offers stirring background vocals. “It’s such a cinematic and theatrical melody with a message that became the cornerstone of this record for us,” Scott said in a press release. “Ocean is all of the things that we think and feel when we hear the word. This album is immersed in life stories about barely keeping your head above water all the way to those times that make you feel like everything is smooth sailing.”
For Lady Antebellum, Ocean reflects a much-needed return to its roots. The group’s reinvigoration is evident here, and much like the ocean itself, the album’s tracks come at you in waves. Some will hit you hard, some will just be fun, and some will absolutely sweep you away.

Fresh off their Vegas residency “Our Kind Of Vegas” seven-time Grammy-winning band Lady Antebellum released their new song, “What I’m Leaving For” off their upcoming album Ocean slated for release next month. The song is about leaving their family when they go on the road and how good it feels to come back home. As described in a press release, it’s a “universal message of making sacrifices for the people you love.”
This is reflected perfectly in the song, with imagery as vibrant as a memory-lane montage. Written by hit-makers Laura Veltz, Micah Rayan, and Sam Ellis, it’s as poignant as it is sweet and hopeful. “And it kills me that I gotta go/couldn’t do it if I didn’t know/That every time I’m walking out that door/You know what I’m leaving for”.
“I wore out the demo for this song,” recalled Dave Haywood in a recent press release. “I immediately related to it. It’s so hard stepping away from your family the way we do, and that song is such a great, beautiful way of articulating what we’re out here doing this for – our families, and those that we love us, too. This song is a beautiful picture of that push and pull of our journey.”
The music video, which was also released this past Friday (Oct 25) features home movies and personal photos from each of the band’s families, including images of all six of the kids. Watching Hilary, Dave and Charles interact with their children and their spouses in the accompanying visual brings the lyrics to life.
Every track off the band’s upcoming eighth studio album that has been released thus far is vulnerable and honest. Even on tracks that the trio didn’t write, the music is so honest to who Lady A is as a band. Out of the four singles released, this is a standout.
Their new album, Ocean, is out Friday, November 15th. Make sure to watch the CMAs, Wednesday, November 13th, to see if they take home the Vocal Group of the Year award.

With just weeks left until the November 15th release of their debut album with Big Machine Label Group, Ocean, Lady Antebellum has released yet another preview track, “Boots.” Co-written by Charles Kelley and Ross Copperman (“John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16,” “Love Ain’t”, “Get Along”), the track is a rocking uptempo to contrast with the album’s other previously released tracks.
“Boots” continues the theme of Lady A’s return to its musical roots, sounding easily like a track that could’ve appeared on one of the group’s earliest albums. Sonically, the song is remnant of the group’s earliest hits, including “Love Don’t Live Here.”
Led by Kelley’s raspy growl, the song tells the tale of a pair of boots that “took a while to find their place/ but you know they’re here to stay.” His voice is only complemented here by Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood’s harmonies, but the song is Kelley’s moment to shine. The Lady A frontman professes his love and devotion to the woman in his life through a tale of two boots, singing “Yeah, these boots, never walkin’ out on you/ They ain’t got no more running left to do.”
Accompanying the song, the trio released a simple video that shows them in the studio alongside producers, writers, and musicians. They enlisted a bevy of Nashville’s biggest names on Ocean, including Sarah Buxton, Corey Crowder, Chris DeStefano, Hillary Lindsey, and more. The album will also feature a highly-anticipated collaboration with Little Big Town.
The release of “Boots” comes on the heels of buzzed about tracks, including the theatric “What If I Never Get Over You,” the bittersweet “Pictures,” and the album’s title track, the lush and melodic, “Ocean.” We are counting down the days until release day of Ocean, and we’re excited to add “Boots” to our playlist!
