Jamey Johnson Performs at the Legendary Billy Bob’s in Texas

Jamey Johnson

There was something in the air Saturday night in Fort Worth Texas. The stockyards were filled with tourists and locals alike all lined up in front of the famous Billy Bob’s to take in the show that night.  Billy Bob is famous for being the world’s largest honkey tonk. It features a 100,000 sq foot location with live bull riding, line dancing, bars and multiple stages.

What made this night extra special was who was on the main stage…a man whose voice is unmistakable – Alabama native, Jamey Johnson. The former Marine Corp Reserve Corporal opened up the show in a black t-shirt, jeans and shades strumming his guitar to his hit “High Cost of Living” from his notable The Lonesome Song album.  He played along with his 8 piece band with one female singer who held her own next to Johnson’s unforgettable sound.

In between songs he asked, “How you feeling Fort Worth, how many of y’all had a good day?”  As he strummed the opening chords to “Color” the whole audience erupted.  The venue filled with concert goers of all ages sang every word to the song.  Johnson even stopped playing to let the crowd finish the chorus “…should’ve seen it in color”.

Paying homage to his heroes, Johnson began to play Keith Whitley’s “I Wonder Do You Think of Me”. Johnson began to discuss the next song, a cover of Conway Twitty’s “Rainy Night in Georgia” he let out a few details that had the whole audience excited.  The first: Mr. Travis Tritt was in attendance that night. The second: Texas’ native and loved, Cody Jinks was coming on stage to sing with him. Jinks performed not one but two covers with Johnson. Closing out the show with a country favorite “Eastbound and Down” by Jerry Reed.

Johnson will be touring through December, for his tour dates head to https://www.jameyjohnson.com/
