“As soon as we wrote ‘Shadow of a Cowboy,’ I knew it was special. I spent the last year of my life writing song after song, trying to find my voice and then learning how to write it into my music,” shared Green in a recent press release.  “‘Shadow of a Cowboy’ was one of the first songs that I felt I was able to do that. The words, the melodies, the high notes, the bridge… it all felt so much like me. I’m so grateful to my co-writers for helping me write a song that I love so much.”

“Hell, I ain’t a horse baby, why’d you try to break me // If there’s something better out there with finding // Go on runner un, run all the way to Amarillo // ‘Cause I know that you won’t ever change // ‘Cause all you’ve done, done, done // Is tumble any way the wind blows // Thinking that you’re gonna ride away // You’re just a shadow of a cowboy // A real one would stay”

“Shadow of a Cowboy” embodies the essence of wishing someone would choose you. The song reads like a story unfolding, which is often the best type of country song. Throughout the song, the listener can feel Green’s pain, as she laments about the cowardliness of a man leaving. “Shadow of a Cowboy” is a must-listen to song!
