Josh Abbott Band Fans Come Out to Support in NYC

The Gramercy Theatre on a Wednesday night in New York City doesn’t always seem to be the hot spot in town, but on this particular night, it was the place to be. Avid Josh Abbott fans rolled into the intimate venue to sing along to their favorite songs and get their fix.

Ray Fulcher opened, with some of the songs he wrote with and for Luke Combs. With a cross between an Eric Church and Luke Combs sound, they came out raving right away with the rock-heavy “Looks”, followed by “Song of the Summer”, and Luke Comb’s “Honkytonk Highway”. He co-wrote “When It Rains It Pours” and “Even Though I’m Leaving”, which he struggled to get through due to the emotional nature of the song. The crowd continued to build, gaining energy for the rest of the night.

After realizing someone was sporting a NYCountry Swag Military line hat, feeling at home in a city as big as New York and finding our tribe, we were ready for the main event. All of a sudden the die-hard fans came alive when the band played “My Texas” and “All of A Sudden.” From old to new, the band played all their greatest hits, and the crowd managed to keep up. Dawning his cowboy hat, Josh talked about when they played on Jimmy Kimmel and thanked Scott from Triple 8, who made it all happen. New York is quite a long way from Texas, but he expressed how happy they were to be back, and as long as the fans keep coming, they’ll keep coming back. “Surprise Surprise” off Catching Fire was a hit that has the laid back but upbeat country vibe you want sometimes, with the classic fiddle and banjo sound. “Wasn’t That Drunk” had everyone singing, clearly one of the band’s biggest hits. “She’s Like Texas” slowed it down a bit, another popular one, with the violin creating a smooth relaxing vibe.

There were dance parties, beers raised, and an overall satisfaction from getting to see such a niche band in the heart of New York City. Their following is only going to grow from here, as the crowd from tonight raves about the great night they had with their fellow country music lovers. NYCS First Impression: Josh Abbott Band ‘Catching Fire’ EP

Catching Fire Josh Abbott Band

The summer of 2019 is certainly a great one for lovers of country music. Today, on June 28th, a country music favorite, the Josh Abbott Band released their newest EP, Catching Fire and it is sure to add some extra heat to your summer playlist.

The four-song EP has a fun and positive feel to it, giving off nothing but good vibes and feelings of new beginnings, while still staying true to their roots and their signature sound. Featuring their already widely received single ‘Little More You’, songs like “Catching Fire”, “Surprise Surprise” and “Oughta Get Drunk” will make you want to lay back, relax and be your best self while at the same time let loose and party.

Their single ‘Little More You’ is accompanied by a story-telling music video starring Jep and Jess Robertson of “Duck Dynasty” as the couple in love, following them around on a beautiful sunny day as they enjoy themselves and the finer things in life, such as whiskey, blue skies, and the beach.

One of the most liked comments on the video reads, “I feel like you guys just reinvented yourselves with that classic JAB sound, but with a 2019 swag to it. So happy to hear this sound from you guys again!”

Produced by Marshall Altman, Catching Fire brings a sense of nostalgia and return back to their foundation and roots, and the sound that made them who they are, while at the same time focusing on the theme that as old chapters are being closed, new ones are ‘catching fire.’ Said best in ‘Surprise Surprise’, ‘I’ve done a lot of things wrong but at least something turned out right!”
