The Beginning:

Today’s spotlight artist has always been a performer. While many fans first discovered Jenna Davis through acting or social media, her love for music stretches back to her earliest years. We’ve been lucky enough to interview the songstress at many stages in her career, and recently we reconnected with her again to talk about her life and her new music.

“I was always singing around the house,” she shared, reflecting on growing up with a mom who was an opera singer. “She really introduced me to music.”

After being born in Plano, Texas, Davis and her family eventually moved to Minnesota, where her parents encouraged her to explore different interests. While sports never quite stuck, one musical theatre camp changed everything. “I absolutely fell in love with performing,” she shared.

Ever since she was young, the singer-songwriter recalls listening to country music and falling in love with the genre. “My biggest influences are probably Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne, and Shania Twain,” she shared. “I think they’re the top three that I get inspiration from.” Adding later, “Country music has always been in my life. My mom introduced me to LeeAnn Rimes and Dolly Parton from a super young age. I always just fell in love with how country music told stories with their lyrics.”

From there, Davis began taking voice and piano lessons with her mom before landing roles in professional theater productions. Around ten or eleven years old, her dreams expanded beyond the stage, leading her family to begin traveling to Los Angeles to pursue acting. Despite a multitude of interests, music was still her biggest dream.

Around the same time, Davis started posting singing covers to social media several times a week, not to become an influencer, but to slowly build an audience for the music she hoped to release one day. “I knew country music was what I wanted to do,” she shared.

The Turning Point:

With true star power, Davis began working even harder at her craft. In order to feel a closer connection to her growing fanbase, Davis decided to showcase more of her life on social media, aside from her singing aspirations and talents. “As that grew, I decided not only to show my singing side, but also who Jenna is as a person, because I think if you are relatable with your audience and your audience can understand not only you as an artist but you as a person, it just gives them a sense of that you are actually a person and a personal connection.”

As she got older, life finally gave her stories to tell. After experiencing her first heartbreak at fifteen, Davis began writing songs of her own before making regular trips to Nashville to learn the songwriting community. By nineteen, she had signed her record deal and officially began the next chapter of her career.

“I always knew that it was where I wanted to be, so when I was about sixteen, we started coming out to Nashville. I startled getting involved in a little bit of the writing rooms and learning how Nashville works, and then when I was eighteen, I got signed to SMACK. They discovered me when I was seventeen, and I found my team. I’m so thankful for them and for believing in me and my music.”

Rather than rushing music out, she spent time writing with different collaborators, experimenting creatively, and figuring out exactly who she wanted to be as an artist. “I feel like in the last two years, more specifically the last year and a half—I’ve really kind of found my brand and who I want to be and what I want to say as an artist,” she shared.

For Davis connecting with her fans and her music is paramount. “My biggest goal as an artist is to create music that tells stories,” she shared. “I think that stems so much from acting.” For the singer-songwriter, those years of growth ultimately helped her become more confident—not only in the stories she wanted to tell, but in the artist she was becoming.

Today:

Since signing her record deal with SMACKRecords, Davis has been cultivating her aesthetic and artistry. “I’ve been learning about what I want to say as an artist and what I want to put out. This past year, I’ve been collaborating with different writers and finding the people that I now call family to love and create music with,” she shared.

Since releasing her debut EP, SIKE, Davis has been hard at work writing and releasing more new music for fans. Most recently, the singer-songwriter shared her new song, “Hey Girly” with the world.

Inspired by one of her closest friends, the song tells the story of a woman debating whether or not to send the infamous “hey girly” text after discovering the guy she had been talking to already had a girlfriend. After writing the song, Davis sat on it for a few weeks before deciding whether to release it. During that time, two more of her friends found themselves in nearly identical situations. “I was like, ‘Okay…this has to come out,’” she recalled.

While the song wasn’t written from her own perspective, it perfectly represents the type of storytelling she’s grown to love—taking real-life experiences and turning them into songs that help people feel seen. “I want people to be able to see themselves in the songs,” she shared.

Looking ahead, Davis has plenty to be excited about. Along with more music on the way, she’s preparing to head out on her first headline tour this fall after making her CMA Fest debut earlier this year.

For Davis, it feels like the next chapter of a journey she’s been working toward for years. After finding her voice, her creative family, and the stories she wants to tell, she’s stepping into this season with more confidence than ever before.

With more music, more shows, and plenty of stories still left to tell, it’s clear that Jenna Davis is only getting started.

The Beginning:

The journey of an artist is filled with evolution, passion, and perseverance. Some shine brightly from the start, while others take time to refine their sound and truly make their mark. Today, we had the pleasure of reconnecting with a standout talent we first spoke with a few years ago, just as she was signing her record deal.

While many recognize Jenna Davis for her strong social media presence, her love for music and performing has been lifelong. Now, she’s making a powerful return as one of country music’s brightest rising stars.

“I was born in Plano, Texas. […] My mom was a piano and voice teacher, and I was always singing music throughout the house with her, and that’s how I discovered that I loved singing,” shared the songstress.

At just four years old, Davis and her family moved to Minnesota, where she started doing musical theatre. “I started doing small community theatre and then graduated to doing professional theatre. After I started doing professional theatre in middle school, I turned to my mom and said that I wanted to do film and TV, and that I wanted to be on Disney channel, so when I was around ten to eleven years old, we started coming out to Los Angeles to pursue the acting world and industry.”

Recognizing her undeniable star power, Davis and her mom began traveling to LA to chase her diverse ambitions.

The Turning Point:

While in Los Angeles, Davis began sharing her vocal talent on social media. “I started doing parking garage singing covers in our parking garage in our apartment complex, and we started posting them to Instagram when I was eleven years old, and I believe we did 3-4 covers a week, just to grow as an artist and to also learn how to sing different genres. Still, I knew country music was what I wanted to do deep down.”

At just fifteen, Davis discovered a deeper connection to music by writing her own songs. “I started writing when I was fifteen after my first heartbreak,” she shared. “It became my outlet, and from there, I began releasing music and stepping into the country scene.”

Adding, “My biggest goal as an artist is to create music that tells stories, and I think that also stems so much from acting. I also want to create things that people can get different emotions from.”

Most recently, Davis shared her debut EP, SIKE with the world, featuring five carefully-chosen songs that depict who the singer-songwriter is as a young, rising artist. “I really feel like ‘SIKE’ has been so healing for me, and it’s been so fun. I’ve been able to take a lot of my real life experiences and putting them into a song. Something I love about this project so much is all of these stories I can kind of look back and laugh on and I wanted to make that really prevalent in the songs too.”

The record as a whole is cohesive, spunky, fun, and exciting to listen to. “All the songs are really witty and fun, and I really wanted to make this project just super witty and fun. […] I truly think these five were my favorites and that’s what made it so easy to pick. […] I’m super proud of it, and I’m excited because I do feel like they correlate together, but they’re not the same. Sonically, I wanted them all to fit together, but I also wanted listeners to click on each one and hear something different,” shared the songstress.

Moving ahead, Davis is only going to share more and more music as her career continues to take off. For 2025, fans can expect more music releases, more shows, and a bigger and more exciting year ahead!

Who is Jenna Davis? The Story Behind Her Journey to Country Music

Who is Jenna Davis? The singer-songwriter joined us to chat about her journey to country music. Get to know the rising star here…

who-is-jenna-davis

Quick Facts:

Full Name – Jenna Davis
Birthdate – 5/05/2004
Hometown – Born in Plano, TX // lived in Chaska, MN and moved to LA at 11 years old
Current City – splits time between Nashville (Franklin) and Los Angeles
Musical Influences – LeeAnn Rimes, Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton and Carrie Underwood
Label – SMACKRecords
Current Single – “DiCaprio”

The Beginning:

Today’s spotlight artist has been in the limelight for most of her life. While you may know her from her impressive social media presence, Jenna Davis has been a lover of music and an entertainer her whole life. As a newly signed recording artist, she is reemerging as one of country music’s brightest new stars.

“I was born in Plano, Texas. My mom was a piano and voice teacher, so my entire life I’ve been surrounded by music. I think her and I have shared that bond my entire life. I’ve been pretty much singing since I could speak,” began Davis.

Ever since she was young, the singer-songwriter recalls listening to country music and falling in love with the genre. “My biggest influences are probably Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood, and LeAnn Rimes,” she shared. Adding later, “My mom also introduced me to Dolly Parton and LeAnn Rimes at a really young age, so country music has been in my life because of her. She introduced me to these icons and legends when I was really, really young.”

At just four years old, Davis and her family moved to Minnesota, where she discovered musical theater. “I started doing musical theatre when I lived there. I did community theater and then I did professional theater. That was I guess what gave my love of acting, music, and performing, and that’s when I realized that’s what I wanted to do with my life.”

Because her star power was so evident, Davis began making trips out to LA with her mom to pursue her multi-faceted dreams. “We started branching out into acting a bit more, so when I was eleven years we started coming out to LA a lot more. I present myself as a three-legged stool, where I have an acting, music, and social media leg, and whatever I’m not working on, I’m working on the other.”

The Turning Point:

At around eleven years old, Davis made the move to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams. With the help of her mom, the singer started to record and post covers of her singing on her Instagram. “We started doing parking garage covers in my apartment building. […] We would sing three or four covers a week, and that’s how we grew my instagram following.”

However, at just fifteen years old, Davis started to write her own songs. “I started songwriting when I was fifteen after my first love and my first heartbreak,” she shared. “It became kind of my outlet, and I started releasing music, and getting into the country space. I’ve been going out to Nashville for about, running on three years now.”

While visiting Nashville, Davis cultivated connections with industry people and fellow songwriters, including SMACK. Despite the fact that they were interested in her at seventeen years old, she did not become SMACKRecords flagship artist until two years later, when she officially signed her record deal.

“I remember the day that the article came out, I was crying happy tears. […] I knew they were the right team for me since I was seventeen years old, but I didn’t think I was ready then yet. […] I just feel very blessed because it feels like the exact right place that I need to me.”

Today:

Now as a nineteen year old, Davis is a budding new artist. “I’m leaning into country as much as I can because it’s where I want to be and where I see myself,” she shared. Upon signing her record deal with SMACK, the singer released her debut single, “DiCaprio.”

For Davis, it was important to choose a song for her debut that spoke to her as a person and as an artist. After, going through many songs with her team, she knew “DiCaprio” was the winner.“My team and I were just listening to a few songs,” she began. “When I got back to my apartment my manager texted me and said “I forgot to send you this one,” and it was “DiCaprio” and she told me it was written by Walker Hayes, Kelsea Ballerini, and Ross Copperman, and when I heard those three names, I turned to my mom and I was like I think I’m going to love this one already.”

After the first listen, it was clear to Davis that “DiCaprio” would be her first single under SMACKRecords. “It’s so lyrically clever and it has such a fun beat,” shared the songstress. “Ironically, it mentions about LA, and me being out in LA for sometime, it felt right. I loved the sass to it, and the ability to move around. I imagine singing it live with perhaps dancers, and playing it live.” “DiCaprio” is one of those songs that is catchy and upbeat, yet has a message to it, which is sometimes hard to find. This is something that Davis knew off the bat, adding to her decision to release the track first.

Looking ahead, Davis is working on readying her debut EP. “I’m very excited to dive into a forthcoming EP, and putting that together, and getting more and more into the country space.” More music is certainly underway, stay tuned!
