The new single is a perfect blend of hip-hop and country music, something that Jelly Roll is known for. The song is another example of the honesty and vulnerability that Jelly Roll always conveys in his music. “UNLIVE” should appeal to fans of the singer, as well as, both the hip-hop and country music lovers.

“Mama was a pill-popping, pretty-little number, tending bar at the Quality Inn // Every single day she was upping the stakes to a game that nobody could win // Her kids would stay the night with the neighbors // Mama wouldn’t be home until late // We heard she was turning tricks for papers, that was just another Tuesday night in those trailers”

The new song comes on the heels of Jelly Roll sweeping at the CMT Music Awards, winning three awards, including Male Video of the Year for “Son Of A Sinner.” It is clear that 2023 is going to continue to be a massive year for the rising artist. His road to superstardom is as clear as day. Everyone should give “UNLIVE” a listen.

“Country As Shit” is a true-blue country jam. It is primed for the live stage, and will have fans dancing and screaming along from the moment the lyrics kick off. Farr and Jelly Roll sound electric together. Jelly Roll’s signature hip-hop sound is also infused throughout the song, adding to overall ambiance of the impressive and fun new track.

“‘Round here our trucks stay muddy // Out here our cooler’s loaded down // Ain’t scared to knuckle up buddy // You better think twice ‘fore you run that mouth // What you see is what you get and // What you get is what it is // Livin’ like Willie and Waylon and No Show did // Keepin’ it country as shit”

According to Farr, “There’s nothing better than being in the studio and making a hit with your best friends. Jason [Aldean] is a freaking blast to be in the studio with and Jelly took the energy to new heights. We are so excited to share with y’all what it sounds like when our three worlds collide.”

We are loving the creativity of all the collaborations in the genre lately. Tyler Farr and Jelly Roll are another collaborative team that seem to fit together beautifully!

Jelly Roll Releases Brand New Song “Need A Favor”

Jelly Roll’s brand new song, “Need A Favor” is out now, December 9th, on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new track below.

Jason DeFord, known professionally as Jelly Roll, has been creating music predominately in the hip-hop realm his entire career. Recently, he has been experimenting with more traditional sounds and returning to his Nashville roots. For his 2021 album, Ballads Of The Broken, Jelly Roll teamed up with renowned songwriter, ERNEST to collaborate on the single “Son Of A Sinner”, which currently sits at number two on the National Country Airplay chart.

In “NEED A FAVOR,” written with Austin Nivarel, and Joe and Rob Ragosta, Jelly Roll discusses his relationship with God, confessing how he only reaches out when he needs something from him. He acknowledges that in order for God to help him, he would have to change his ways. In the second verse, we find out the favor is his girl not leaving him. Sonically the track contains heavy percussion with fiddle sprinkled in between the lyrics.

I only talk to God when I need a favor // And I only pray when I ain’t got a prayer // So, who the hell am I, who the hell am I // To expect a Savior o-o-oh // If I only talk to God when I need a favor // God I need a favor
