Hannah Ellis Features Her “Home and Hometown” In New Video

Hannah Ellis released the official video for “Home and a Hometown” this week, and it premiered on CMT for the first time. In one day, the music video made CMT’s most viewed video list. The single dropped on July 13th and currently has been streamed over 500,000 times on Spotify.

Ellis describes the single perfectly in her own words on Instagram. She says “I didn’t know I could feel ‘at home’ in two places that were so different from one another. I always find myself racing back and forth between the two. One day on my drive home, I wrote down the title “Home and a Hometown”, because I realized that I’m lucky enough to have both. I feel like I am part of a generation that was taught to chase our dreams, but always know we had a place to come back to. I hope you find some of your story in mine…”

In the music video, which was directed by Preston Leatherman, you get a glimpse of the singer’s life in her hometown of Campbellsville, Kentucky and her new home in Nashville, Tennessee. The two places are completely different, but you can see in the video how much happiness she experiences in each place. The shots of her family celebrating a birthday are a stark contrast to the Nashville skyline and shots of Ellis and her friends at a restaurant in town but they equally show how her life has changed but still remains the same.

We first fell in love with Ellis when we heard “Would You Love Me”, a song she co-wrote for Russell Dickerson’s debut album Yours, and then hosted her at our Women’s Brunch back in March where she sang that song along with her first single “ILY So What”.  Check out our full recap from that event here.
