Guess Who’s Back? Carrie Underwood Releases “Cry Pretty”

This morning Carrie Underwood joined iHeartRadio to premiere her brand new single “Cry Pretty”.  The song was written by Underwood along with the songwriting team, the Love Junkies, Liz Rose, Hilary Lindsey and Lori McKenna, also responsible for Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush”.  The ballad is heavy, but uplifting, proving that although you can fake smile and smile through a lie, crying is very real and it is hard to look beautiful when letting those emotions out.

Underwood has been out of the spotlight since taking a fall outside her Nashville home last fall, making her triumphant return with this epic anthem on Sunday night’s ACM Awards on CBS.  Be sure to be following @NYCountry Swag on Twitter as we LIVE Tweet the award show and let us know in the comments what you think about Underwood’s latest single.

Classic Country Grammy Moments

This weekend the Grammy Awards, deemed “Music’s Biggest Night” will take place live from New York’s famed arena, Madison Square Garden. With the event just days away, let’s take a look back at some incredible Grammy moments featuring some of our favorite country artists…

Known for their spectacular collaborations, this duet featuring Lady Gaga and Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland singing “You and I” is definitely a moment to remember.

Maren Morris, after a great year, took home the award for Best Solo Country Performance at the 2016 Grammys. Morris is nominated again this year for the same category for “I Could Use A Love Song”. Ironically, Thomas Rhett is the presenter here and is also nominated for his own Grammy for Best Country Album, Life Changes.

Another classic collaboration, Kelsea Ballerini and Lukas Graham mashed up their songs about never growing up, “Seven Years Old” and “Peter Pan” at least year’s award show.

Let’s not forget 2007’s Best New Artist, Carrie Underwood. Taking home the award, Underwood proudly exclaims, “I love Country Music, first of all!” A grateful Underwood thanks God first and foremost, then her parents and then anyone who had a hand in making her album.

Catch The Grammys Live on CBS this Sunday night January 28th at 8 PM ET.

[Watch]#TBT Carrie Underwood’s Idol Audition

In honor of American Idol making its return, here is one of our all-time favorite auditions just in time for Throwback Thursday. Carrie Underwood not only sings an incredible rendition of “I Can’t Make You Love Me” but she charms the judges, even when they make her cluck like a chicken.

Underwood went on to win season 4 of the most popular singing competition back in 2005 and has gone on to win a whopping 174 worldwide awards including 7 Grammys.  Exactly 15 years after its inception, Idol is back on a new channel with all new judges.  ABC will be the new home of the singing competition. Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and country music’s very own Luke Bryan will sit in the judge’s chairs.

The new season will kick off in 2018 on ABC.

Gear Up For This Season’s Final Country Night on the Water Featuring The Swon Brothers

Headlining our final Country Night on the Water at Bungalow Bar & Restaurant next Friday, September 15th, The Swon Brothers will most definitely be playing songs off their latest EP Pretty Cool Scars.  If you haven’t listened be sure to check it out before you head to the show.

One of our favorite tracks off the six song EP is their latest single “Don’t Call Me” a mid-tempo, catchy song that is certainly relatable.  Written by Jordan Reynolds and Robyn Blakie Collins tells a tale of deciding to make a change and not give in to temptations of a past love.

“Don’t call me / Cause we’ve been here before / Don’t want me / If you don’t want something more / Don’t need me / When you’re lonely at 3 AM / Asking me to come over again / So I can hold ya, already told ya / Can’t do that anymore”

You may remember The Swon Brothers made their debut in the country genre by appearing on the fourth season of The Voice back in 2013, where they released their first single, “Later On.” Finishing in third place overall, they built a following through the singing competition and ultimately had the opportunity to open for Carrie Underwood on her Storyteller Tour last winter which gave the duo the opportunity to play at the iconic Madison Square Garden.

We look forward to hosting The Swon Brothers as well as Caroline Glaser at Bungalow Bar and hope to see y’all there!  If you haven’t already, be sure to grab your tickets to Country Night on the Water here.
