Here is Brooks & Dunn’s Album ‘REBOOT 2’

Brooks & Dunn releases their collaborative album, REBOOT 2, out now, November 15th on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new project here.

A little over five years ago, Grammy-winning country duo Brook & Dunn released their first REBOOT album, containing twelve classic songs with twelve of the most in-demand artists in Nashville at the time. Today, fans have the privilege of hearing eighteen completely reimagined tracks of their biggest hits featuring acts of all different genres, from country, to blues, to rock n’ roll.

“This project is a lot more out of bounds,” Kix Brooks said in a recent press release. “Artists were going, ‘Would it be okay if we did this?’ It was like ‘Yeah! Let’s do it.’ We dealt with rock bands and blues bands and all kinds of genres, all over the place.”

The album kicks off with the teaser single, “Play Something Country,” with superstar Lainey Wilson. Wilson’s vocals and vibe fit the song perfectly, as she is currently closing out her Country’s Cool Again tour. Standouts tracks include “Rock My World (Little Country Girl),” as the Marcus King Band adds their own flare of funk to the top 5 hit. The Cadillac Three gives “She Likes to Get Out of Town” a more southern-rock feel. Country hitmaker turned metal rocker, HARDY, helps make “Hillbilly Deluxe” sound like an Iron Maiden song. The Earls of Leicester turn “How Long Gone” into a bluegrass tune enhancing the prevalence of steel and banjo.

Six tracks appear on both REBOOTs, including “Neon Moon,” “Ain’t Nothing ‘Bout You,” “Brand New Man,” “Believe,” “Boot Scottin’ Boogie,” and “Hard Workin’ Man.” Megan Maroney changes the start of “Ain’t Nothing ‘Bout You” into a slow, piano ballad, and while Luke Combs was a great addition to the original version of “Brand New Man,” Warren Zeiders transforms the number one neo-traditional smash into a mid-tempo, 2000s rock banger. The most drastic makeover though was Halestorm’s version of “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” which became a heavy, up-beat, rock jam with an impressive guitar solo before the final verse.

Other names featured on the album not yet mentioned include Morgan Wallen, Jelly Roll, Riley Green, Mitchell Tenpenny, ERNEST, Corey Kent, Hailey Whitter, Thousand Horses, The Earls of Leicester, Jake Worthington, and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram.

This project is impactful for so many reasons. First, it reinforces Brooks & Dunn’s lasting influence in the world of country music and allows fans to see their favorite songs from the past get a second life. Second, it will get younger listeners who are fans of the featured artists exposed to the music that helped shape their respective careers. Finally, it enables musical geniuses to collaborate and break boundaries to create an extremely fresh and unique sound that listeners of all genres can enjoy and reminisce to.

“The premise of the project was ‘No rules.’ For this one, we purposely loosened the screws and turned ‘em loose to do whatever they wanted,” Ronnie Dunn explained. “We actually went way off the rails, in a good way.”

‘Stoned Cold Country’ Rolling Stones 60th Anniversary Tribute Album

In honor of the 60th anniversary of The Rolling Stones, country artists banded together to create a tribute album called Stoned Cold Country, out now. Listen below.

In honor of the 60th Anniversary of The Rolling Stones, country music is celebrating with a tribute album called Stoned Cold Country. Country artists celebrate the legacy of The Rolling Stones through fourteen distinct covers of some of their greatest hits. The exciting new project is officially out now.

“Four years ago, I had this idea of a Country tribute record to The Rolling Stones – the greatest rock band of all time,” shared producer, Robert Deaton. “I could not be more proud of the artists and musicians that participated on this album. As the song says… ‘It’s Only Rock and Roll But I Like It’ – I hope everyone will join us in celebrating 60 years of The Rolling Stones.”

Stoned Cold Country will appeal to both country and rock fans. Some of country music’s greatest artists like Brothers Osborne, Brooks & Dunn, Little Big Town, and Lainey Wilson lent their voices to iconic Rolling Stones songs. Country Stars Who Have Stood The Test of Time

In today’s society, there are so many trends that come and go, some lasting a week and others months. We see the same in the music industry with certain beats and styles coming and going on the radio. While we see change, some artists have stayed constant and continue to put out great music for fans for decades. Below are some of our favorite artists that are still making waves in the industry decades later and have stood the test of time.

George Strait
Strait is not called the “King of Country” for nothing. With 60 #1 hits, the most in history, ACM Artist of the Decade, and a Country Music Hall of Fame member, no one is taking Strait’s place anytime soon. From early hits like “Fool Hearted Memory” and “Amarillo By Morning” to more recent ones including “Give It Away” and “It Comes Natural”, the country icon proves that classic country music is still cherished. While Strait is not on the road touring anymore, he does play select weekends at the T-Mobile Arena for his residency and a few other events. There may not be many more opportunities to see the legend himself sing 20+ number one hits a night, so make sure you get a piece of the action while you still can!

Reba
Reba may have started as a rodeo girl, following in the footsteps of her father, but now she is one of country music’s biggest icons. McEntire is the only country female solo act to have a No. 1 hit in four straight decades: the 1980s, ’90s, ’00s and ’10s, and it is easy to see why. Hits like “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia”, “Fancy”, “Consider Me Gone” and collaborations including “The Heart Won’t Lie” with Vince Gill and “If You See Him/If You See Her” with Brooks and Dunn, put her on the top of the charts. When Reba was an up and coming artist, her tenacity and talent helped her blaze a path for females in country music. The Oklahoma native is still a very relevant part of the industry with her new album Stronger Than The Truth and her Las Vegas residency with Brooks and Dunn.

Artists That Have Stood the Test Of Time

Garth Brooks
While Strait has the most #1 songs in history, “The Thunder Rolls” singer has the most awards. Brooks has 2 Grammys, 17 American Music Awards, 11 Country Music Association Awards, 18 Academy of Country Music Awards, 24 Billboard Music Awards, and 26 number 1 hits, just to name a few. While he is known as a tried and true country artist, his ability to integrate pop and rock elements into his music leaves people converting to country after each listen. Brooks is still selling out 50,000+ stadiums every month on his stadium tour and new music like “All Night Long” and “Dive Bar.” Bringing unbelievable energy to each show, Brooks’ legacy is growing bigger and better each year and shows no signs of stopping.

Brooks & Dunn
After sitting down for burritos one night, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn decided to take a chance at becoming a duo after their record label had been mentioning it for weeks. That may have been the best decision they ever made for their careers. Building a large fan base across the world, 25+ ACM Awards, 2 Grammys, 17 CMA Awards and more, the guys made a very long successful run. Years later, the duo is one of the best selling duo’s country music has seen. While they split up after their greatest hits album to do their own ventures, their brand new REBOOT album with upcoming artists including Luke Combs, Midland, and Kasey Musgraves, Brooks and Dunn have put themselves at the forefront of the music scene once again. Their old hits are getting more airplay on the radio, new collaborations are landing them TV appearances, and the Vegas residency with Reba keep the “Neon Moon” singers booked all year.

Alan Jackson
Making Chattachooche a household song isn’t the only thing Alan Jackson is known for. His career was built around traditional country music, driven by twangy riffs and a honky-tonk vibes. Upon coming to Nashville, Jackson wrote all his own songs and made heads turn left and right with his ability to tell a story through music. With upbeat songs like “Gone Country,” “Living On Love,” and “Don’t Rock The Jukebox,” he has a somber side that you can see in certain songs. One of the biggest songs that got people’s attention was “Where Were You,” his song commemorating the 9/11 terror attacks, one he won a Grammy for. With 30 years of music, touring, awards, and a loyal fanbase, Jackson is still going strong playing shows across the country. While he has stopped putting out music in recent years, you can still find his classic sound in the gospel album he made for his mom, Angels and Alcohol.

Kenny Chesney
There are a lot of artists in the industry that go to school for something other than music but find themselves pursuing their hobbies anyways, Kenny Chesney is no different. He went from majoring in advertising to graduating and heading to Nashville to play the local honky-tonks. Fast forward a few years later and a new record deal and Chesney is cranking out hits such as “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy” and “In My Wildest Dreams.” Rolling into the 2000s was filled with sold-out shows across the country and #1 records, most of which landed on Billboard’s Top 100, making Chesney one of the most successful crossover country artists. Chesney is the king of stadium tours, selling out arenas all over the country in the last 5+ years and fans new and old are coming to watch the 4-time Entertainer of the Year. Setlists include “Summertime,” “Living In Fast Forward,” “Young,” and new hits “American Kids,” and his latest “Tip Of My Tongue.” Being out on the road takes up most of Chesney’s time nowadays although he still finds time to create powerful songs like “Get Along” that calls on all of us to love one another. We caught Chesney last summer at MetLife Stadium when he sold-out the epic venue.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill
One of country music’s power couples has not retreated to a normal lifestyle just yet. Making over $100 million on their Soul2Soul tour alone, the couple is still making music. McGraw has put out a few singles in the last year(“Neon Church” and “Thought About You”). Together the duo released a touching and emotional album The Rest of Our Life in sync with their tour. Hill does not tour anymore although McGraw has been playing quite a few festivals like Stagecoach and Cheyenne Frontier Days. Both have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and together in downtown Nashville as a part of Nashville’s Music City Walk of Fame. Both singer-songwriters have made such a huge contribution to country music, Hill paving the way for female artists and McGraw tearing up the charts proving that if a small-town boy from Louisiana can make it, you can too, with grit and determination. They have served the Music City community with their beautiful voices, kind spirits, and southern charm for decades, making them some of the most lovable people not only in Nashville but across the world as well.

CMT Crossroads Brooks & Dunn and Friends

As if CMA Fest does not already have the best lineups, collaborations, award show and more, Brooks & Dunn just topped it off. CMT Crossroads has brought us the most unique collaborations including Brett Young with Boyz II Men, Zac Brown Band with Shawn Mendes, Brett Eldredge with Meghan Trainor, and more. This festival season CMT brought Crossroads to downtown Nashville with the help Brooks & Dunn and their friends.

Setting up on the corner of 5th and Broadway in downtown Nashville, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn invited the collaborators on their new album REBOOT to join them on stage. The free outdoor concert featured Brett Young, Cody Johnson, Jon Pardi, LANCO, Luke Combs and Midland.

Each artist teamed up with the duo to sing the iconic songs off the album in front of hundreds of country music fans. Brooks & Dunn and Midland Perform on The Tonight Show

Country music legends Brooks & Dunn are back, making waves once again with their recently released album Reboot which is comprised of new versions of their biggest hits while collaborating with today’s top country artists. Continuing to celebrate their album release week the duo joined forces with country trio Midland to perform one of their classic hits “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night.

Before taking the stage, host Jimmy Fallon introduced the groups to the audience saying, “Get ready for this! Everybody are you ready? Turn up the volume right now performing their hit “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” with Midland from their new album Reboot give it up for country icons Brooks & Dunn!”

Kicking off the performance, Midland’s lead singer Mark Wystrach set the stage standing front and center signing the opening lyrics before stepping back for the duo, Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks to come forward. Dunn joined in with his smooth vocals while Brooks laid down some serious harmonica with Midland members Cameron Duddy and Jess Carson providing background vocals. The duo and trio combined their talents, intertwining their groups effortlessly creating one powerful collaboration while bringing their country roots to New York City’s Studio 6-B. The cowboy rockers gave everyone watching in-studio and at home a yeehaw good time and a performance to remember.

After their performance, Fallon came running back on stage yelling while hugging each member saying, “Oh man come on! Brooks & Dunn that is how you do it! Oh my goodness, that is how you do it right there!” clearly impressed by the high energy performance.

NYCS First Impression Brooks & Dunn Feature New Artists On ‘REBOOT’

Brooks & Dunn REBOOT

Making their old hits new, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn have gotten together with some of country music’s hottest acts to repurpose and reimagine their biggest songs in the new album REBOOT. It has been over a decade since the best selling duo of all time released new music and exactly 10 years since they released anything at all, their last album #1s…and then some was a compilation of their hits.

For fans who are new to loving the genre, they may not be familiar with the duo or any of their songs however Brooks & Dunn have shaped the landscape of country music and helped cultivate and influence the artists that you know and love today. This new project allows fans of Kane Brown, Luke Combs, Ashley McBryde and so many more really dig into these tracks otherwise may have been lost on them.

Released first and prior to the full album, Luke Combs and Kane Brown’s contributions (“Brand New Man” and “Believe”) gave fans a taste of what to expect from REBOOT, without changing the songs melodically, they breathed new life into them.  “What’s really intriguing to me is that we didn’t do any production meetings about how we might cut these things,” Kix Brooks said in a recent press release. “We kind of just went in, and it morphed in the process.”

Choosing which songs out of their twenty, that’s right twenty number one hits, couldn’t have been easy but each track shows a different side of the duo’s outstanding discography. A standout on the record is “Ain’t Nothin’ Bout You” which features Brett Young’s soulful and sultry vocals. Young starts the song with the familiar lyrics, sonically slowing things down to accentuate the words, changing things just a bit, instead of singing to the girl, they are singing about her to each other. The addition of a saxophone solo adds a sexy spunk to the vibe, making this track one of the best on the record.

Currently one of the most talked about country acts, Kacey Musgraves who humbly took home Album of the Year at this year’s Grammy Awards is featured on “Neon Moon”. Her sweet voice highlights the buzzing neon signs in bars that will always welcome you back when experiencing heartbreak.  The decision to have a female voice adds so much to the two tracks on the record, the ACM New Female of the Year Ashley McBryde adds her grit and unique vocals to “You’re Gonna Miss Me When I’m Gone”.

Possibly one of their most popular songs, “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” is energized by Grammy-nominated Midland who’s debut album is filled with songs just like their cover for REBOOT. Their version is perfect for dance halls and bars across America.

While every song on the record is an absolute proven gem, when Texas native, Cody Johnson starts off the last chorus alone on “Red Dirt Road” over a quiet acoustic guitar, it will make you fall in love with the song that has been a classic since its release in 2003.

It was just recently revealed that Brooks & Dunn will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame later this year. Making timeless hits brand new again, fans Brooks & Dunn and fans of these modern day country artists will have a record to blast for years to come.

To keep up with Brooks & Dunn, follow them on InstagramTwitter, and Facebook.

REBOOT is now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released music here on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.

Brooks & Dunn REBOOT Featuring Kane Brown, Luke Combs and More

Brooks & Dunn Reboot

For the younger generation of country music fans, Brooks & Dunn may seem like your grandparents country music, but their songs and stories are important centerpieces of the genre.  In their latest news, after taking a break from performing and recording together, Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks are back and rebooting their most famous songs with some of the genre’s biggest rising names. The duo has had 20 number one hits over the last two decades and they are now getting ready to reimagine those incredible songs with some of the freshest talent coming out of Nashville.

Artists like Thomas Rhett, Brett Young, LANCO, Ashley McBryde, Brothers Osborne, Midland, Cody Johnson, Jon Pardi, Tyler Booth, and Kacey Musgraves will be featured on the new project. Released today are the first two tracks from their next studio album, REBOOT slated for release on April 5th. Luke Combs joins the best selling duo of all time on “Brand New Man” while Kane Brown lends his vocals to “Believe”.

“This whole experience has been humbling, to say the least. What a cool rush to hear somebody do one of your tunes in a unique way, and it still holds up,” said Ronnie Dunn in a recent press release. “That’s the greatest compliment you can get as an artist. People used to ask us all the time about the legacy we wanted to leave, and it’s honestly just that – you hope the music stands up over time. This is the first opportunity we’ve had to run it up a new flagpole…and it really flies.”

“Brand New Man” features Combs’ rugged voice and dimensional grit. The multi-platinum singer-songwriter is not new to honoring the duo, he usually performs at least one Brooks & Dunn song in his set. When we caught his set at Madison Square Garden opening for Jason Aldean on his High Noon Neon Tour he covered a rousing rendition of “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”.  The entire idea for this project happened when Combs met with the duo’s longtime manager and he explained how important Brooks & Dunn had been to his career. “Brooks & Dunn’s music absolutely had a tremendous impact on me,” said Combs in a recent press release. “To me, they invented that foot stomping, driving sound. And it’s so cool that this has turned into such an awesome album, with artists that actually grew up listening to Brooks & Dunn. Their music was so influential to us that having the chance to come in and bounce ideas off the guys and sing with them in the studio was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Kane Brown may be one of the artists in the genre who is pushing the boundaries of pop/R&B but he recognizes his Georgia/Tennessee roots by collaborating with Brooks & Dunn on “Believe”.  His sultry baritone voice tells the riveting story of Old Man Wrigley. In our opinion, this song is one of their best, and we were lucky enough to experience it live when Brooks & Dunn took the stage at the Grand Ole Opry back in 2017.

Both songs, and hopefully the entire REBOOT  album will keep the integrity of the original songs while adding the fresh new twist and inspiring vocals from rising artists. This album is a chance for an entirely new generation of country fans to experience the beautiful songs that Ronnie and Kix made famous. Take a listen to “Brand New Man” and “Believe” below.
