Brantley Gilbert Releases Emotional Video for “Man That Hung The Moon”

Ever since becoming a father, Brantley Gilbert has shared just how much being a father really means to him and created a very personal song to dedicate to his children. Gilbert shared on Instagram, “One of these days my son and future daughter are gonna realize I’m no superhero…. When I have to tell them I’m not the man that hung the moon…. if I’ve done my job right… they’ll know to hit their knees to find the Man who did.”

Getting inspiration in the hospital room when his son Barrett was born, Gilbert sings, “Lost my breath when I saw you take your first / My whole world stopped like that / And I ain’t the cryin’ type / But I just saw your eyes / Words just can’t describe what I see / You look just like me.”

The “Man That Hung The Moon” video perfectly shows the affection the Georgia native and his family have for each other. Clips put together from time in the studio, on the road, and his personal life, fans get an inside look at the balance Gilbert keeps. The passionate video starts with Gilbert getting up on stage after stage every night to perform but you can tell on his face backstage that he is missing something. Fast forward to clips of his son walking around the tour buses and his wife Amber out on the road and in the studio. Barrett seems to love being on the road and getting ice cream with his dad and watching the shows backstage with his mom. While touring keeps the family busy, they make an effort to have uninterrupted time on the road and to enjoy each other’s company. We picked this one as one of our July Monthly picks, check it out here.

Gilbert and his wife are expecting a little girl early fall and a new album is rumored to be released about the same time. The tough country singer has turned a page, soon to be a father of two, sharing a more personal side to him in each song he releases.

Brantley Gilbert Released ‘4/20’ Inspired “Welcome to Hazeville”

Welcome to Hazeville

Country music’s bad boy, Brantley Gilbert is back with another hard-hitting collaboration. Back in December, the singer-songwriter released his duet with fellow songstress, Lindsay Ell, “What Happens in a Small Town,” which was subsequently sent to country radio. Now Gilbert has joined forces with Colt Ford, Lukas Nelson, and Wilson Nelson in “Welcome to Hazeville.”

In celebration of ‘4/20,’ the singer-songwriter premiered a new song, accompanied by a cheeky video for the track. Many country singers have been vocal about their support of recreational marijuana use in the past, but none more than Willie Nelson himself. Several artists have shared stories about “..hanging down with Willie on that laid-back vibe,” and mentioned those times in their own songs, such as Brothers Osborne’s “Weed, Whiskey And Willie.” Watch the video for “Welcome to Hazeville” below. Make sure to be on the lookout for a surprise ending.

Written by Gilbert with Ford, Rodney Clawson, and Andrew DeRoberts, “Welcome to Hazeville” is a lyrically clever track that mixes genres and musical arrangements. The men clearly had a fun time recording the song, as well as, appearing as cartoons in an animated video for the track that appears to mimic the vibe of Scooby-Doo cartoons. The video, like the song, is meant to be light-hearted and fun; despite, the controversial topic. Gilbert, like many other country artists, have never shied away from telling their truth in their music.

Although Gilbert has not yet shared the release date of his next record, the recording artist will be embarking on his headlining ‘2019 Not Like Us Tour,” bringing special guests Michael Ray and Lindsay Ell along for the ride. For tickets and more information head to brantleygilbert.com.

Country singer-songwriters Brantley Gilbert and Lindsay Ell teamed up and released their brand new music video for “What Happens in a Small Town”. In Gilbert’s first ever duet, both him and Ell play storytellers narrating two young kids who can’t escape the memory of their past relationship. Gilbert wrote this song along with Brock Berryhill, Rhett Akins, and Josh Dunne and was inspired by his own life depicting his earlier days of falling in love, breaking up, eventually getting back together and finally marrying his wife Amber. A country ballad collaboration that has not only compelling vocals from Gilbert and Ell but their guitar instrumentals bring the song to an entirely different level.

With Ell set in a school hallway and Gilbert on an isolated main street road, the two reminisce of their high school relationship under Friday night lights at a football game and driving around town in her white jeep. Each scene depicts a memory that they just can’t seem to shake whether it be driving off into a country field, or hanging at the local bar. Gilbert and Ell prove breaking up is even harder to deal with when you are in a small town and it is expressed in the chorus:

“‘Cause what happens in a small town stays in a small town / Every back road, we’ve ever gone down / Friday night bleachers, Sunday pews / Ain’t a county line mile without a memory of you Every whisper, every room, I walk in / Every time the bartender fills it up again / Everybody knows why I’m here, and you ain’t around / ‘Cause what happens in a small town, stays in a small town”

There is no denying that Gilbert and Ell work effortlessly together, and create a captivating song that is easily relatable to us all. “What Happens in a Small Town” is a BIG glimpse into what Gilbert has in store for us when his upcoming album is released. Let the anticipation and excitement begin!

Brantley Gilbert & Lindsay Ell Join Forces in “What Happens in a Small Town”

Brantley Gilbert Lindsay Ell

Country music bad boy, Brantley Gilbert has been pretty quiet since the release of his 2017 fourth studio album The Devil Don’t Sleep, but the wait is over! Last Friday, the singer-songwriter released his brand new single, “What Happens in a Small Town” in a collaboration with the talented Lindsay Ell, who lends her vocals and guitar skills to the song. The track is said to be the first song off Gilbert’s highly anticipated 2019 record and is slated to be sent to country radio in January.

The Big Machine Label Group recording artist gushed about his excitement for the new single on Twitter for a few days leading up to release day. Gilbert shared a video of him and Ell discussing their feelings about the new song, “It was just leaning towards a duet, and I’ve never done one. We kinda just got excited about it, and I don’t think the excitement ever stopped,” captioning the video with “This is something really special.”

The country-rock ballad depicts the full story of falling in love, breaking up and navigating those circumstances in a small town, seemingly not being able to get away from the memories that were made together. The words and the vocals are powerful, as both Ell and Gilbert prove that they are both a force to be reckoned with. The vulnerable lyrics are a perfect segway into a new, but still authentic sound for Gilbert. The single debuted at number 1 on the iTunes country music chart.

Check out the lyric video for the track below. “What Happens in a Small Town is available on all digital platforms now. For more new recently released music, make sure to follow our ‘New Country Music’ playlist on Spotify for your weekly new country music fix.
