New Radio Disney Segment ‘Let The Girls Play’

Let the Girls Play

Savannah Keyes and Kalie Shorr

The lack of female presence on the radio has gotten more attention this year than ever. CMT celebrated the women of country music with the first ever all-female “Artists of the Year” special, Bobby Bones has his weekly “Women of iHeart Country” playlist and Radio Disney is adding a new segment called “Let The Girls Play.” This new daily segment highlights the latest news and songs from country music’s top ladies and rising stars, who aren’t otherwise supported heavily on a radio format. Radio Disney Country is known to be one of the biggest supporters of women in country music making this segment right up their alley.

Two of the most prominent artists that have been labeled “ones to watch” on the country music scene today are stepping up to the challenge of hosting the new segment. Kalie Shorr and Savannah Keyes have been killing it this past year and are the perfect upcoming artists to host. Shorr just wrapped headlining the 2018 “Road To The CMA Awards” Tour, that took her to Walmart stores across the U.S. to promote the 52nd annual CMA Awards. Keyes was a contestant on the first season of USA Network’s new series “Real Country,” where she competed on Jake Owen’s team. Shorr and Keyes also have performed together during Nashville’s only all-female singer-songwriter round, Song Suffragettes.  Between the two, they are taking over the rising country music scene.

In a recent press release Phil Guerini, vice president, Music Strategy, Disney Channels Worldwide and general manager of Radio Disney Network stated, “We are excited to launch “Let The Girls Play”… Female voices are integral to Radio Disney Country, and we are thrilled to be working with two of our favorites.” The women appreciate the attention and recognition that all women of country music deserve. Shorr says, “From the very beginning, Radio Disney Country has been a massive champion of women in country music. When programming, they never factor in gender – only the integrity of the songs and artists themselves. This show is another example of their unwavering support.” Keyes also stated, “Empowering women, highlighting up-and-coming artists that I’m lucky enough to have played with at Song Suffragettes, and covering all things country music is something I am so passionate about, and the fact that I get to do it with my best friend makes the experience even sweeter. I still can’t believe that this is happening!”

If you want in on this great new segment there are many ways you can take part. Tune into Radio Disney Country on the Radio Disney App, iHeartRadio App, KRDC FM/AM – Los Angeles, TuneIn, the Radio Disney Country ‘Spotlight’ on Radio Disney and SiriusXM, Apple Music and Spotify playlists to get your hook on the newest female country artists.
