Midland Perform and Answer Questions At Exclusive YouTube Event in NYC

Midland Let It Roll

With the highly anticipated release of Let it Roll just a few days behind them, Midland shared more of their stories during a Q&A at the YouTube Space in Chelsea Market in NYC. When asked about their feelings about the release, they didn’t put on any front; they admitted that they were extremely tired, as well as elated. They even created a new word, ‘tirelated’, to combine the two feelings. The grueling schedule of tours and shows, recordings and press, and trying to maintain a life is not easy, but they expressed how grateful they are for the opportunities. The band’s Cameron Duddy expressed he felt punch-drunk, mustering the strength to go through their long days, and he sure seemed it, latching on to the mentioning of sandwiching writing sessions between shows, continuing to mention ‘sandwich’ as many times as he could.

The band feels that there was less pressure on this album than their previous, describing a collaboration and real camaraderie between the group during their writing sessions in the studio. In addition, they feel the studio has been their safe place during this period, where you’re at least sitting in the same place for two to three days at a time, 12 hours a day, (a mention of sandwiches again), and a place for growth. “We’ve evolved as a band; we’ve evolved as musicians, and our relationship with our producers and our collaborators have evolved…That familiarity and the raising of the level has made this one much more joyous.”

After answering some questions from fans, they performed several of their new songs, creating new fans with every note. Their old country sound with a fresh, genuine feel and vulnerable heart might make this Austin, Texas band one your new favorite.
